12081  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin web wallet like myetherwallet ? on: July 08, 2018, 01:01:20 AM
Meta mask and mew are really very nice initiatives for the ethereum blockchain.

I don't think they would fit so well for bitcoin, as btc don't have all those smartcontracts and dapps yet.

Be careful as new is not that safe.
It's a web wallet which you expose your keys all the time..
12082  Other / Meta / Re: I nearly gave this thread a merit - what do you think? on: July 07, 2018, 12:18:16 AM
This is bit off topic, But I also have a same kind of problem as I am hoping to upload some of my articles (three of already submitted articles (in this forum)and some to be published articles) to my blog after few upgrades. Will it be considered as a violation of rules or will it be mistaken for plagiarism?

I am a writer as well and I had this problem also...

I will suggest that you do not publish the same article in more than one platform.

All content must be exclusive.

If you post in bitcointalk, then post on medium, you will have problems and medium may even block your account for plagiarism.

The opposite is also true: someone will report you to moderators here, and your bitcointalk account will be banned.
A friend of mine, good poster, had his account in bitcointalk banned for plagiarizing his own articles. He is waiting for about 2 months already to someone unban him...

Nobody cares if you are the author or not. All your content must be exclusive.
It makes sense to me. Nobody wants just to see copied/pasted information from another website.

Also, you will learn in time that written articles on blogs/medium/news should be different from posts here. You will get more merits and attention with more natural posts.

When I looked at the article in the reference, it looks as if he has just copied chunks from it, and not marked them as quotes. He hasn't added any discussion points or observations either.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4580374.0

This type of thread is becoming a bit annoying. It's getting to the point that you have to do some research before awarding meits. I wonder if it is worth having a 24 hour cooling off period for merit awards. This would allow merit sources to award merits a lot faster, and they could reverse a bad decision based on subsequent comments in the thread.

I didn't saw the topic, as it is already deleted.

However, I think that if he shared a good article, that you liked to read and you wouldn't be able to read it without his post, I think he deserves a merit then.

Only for sharing a good article in the right time, in the right board.

I think that most of the time we are all sharing some knowledge we learned somewhere else. Why can't we just share a raw article?
If he put the source of course....
12083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I would like to have a multicurrency wallet with atomic swap functions on: July 07, 2018, 12:03:41 AM
There aren't any wallet with features/specification that you want. Besides AFAIK, atomic swap between wallet cryptocurrency isn't ready and still tested/developed and not all cryptocurrency could support atomic swap due to their technical design.

However, there are few open-source multi cryptocurrency wallet and you can use exchange that don't require register such as http://shapeshift.io/ for atomic-swap alternative.

Thank you for answer

Please provide links of multi-currency wallets.

And I know it is possible to make atomic swap between btc, ltc, dash (bitcoin family) and finally ETH

Pretty enough. But why there is not wallet implemented which can do it?

Coinomi is a multi coin wallet that is integrated with shapeshift or changelly.

You are able to exchange between coins inside your Wallet.

Check it on play store or Apple store
12084  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 06, 2018, 02:31:00 PM
I went to your local board, at the bitcoin discussion and all topics were in French there.
Didn't find a single topic in Chinesein this board

Spam is a problem of the forum. Go to the bitcoin discussion board in the main forum. It's 90% spam.
At altcoins discussion it's 100% spam.

Your local board looks ok to me. Everything is in French as it should be. I can't evaluate what they are saying, but I know it's 90% trash as most the forum.

Can you link a board with real problems?

And by doing a topic like this, theymos may be inclined not to help asap...
12085  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: This thread in the Fit to Talk English project earned 20 merits on: July 06, 2018, 12:24:50 PM
But in my opinion we should focus mainly on Bitcoin/crypto related content.

I agree that we should have some special purpose boards, and that Bitcoin should be a priority. However, Bitcoin has spawned a financial revolution, and I think it is important to discuss that as well. Elements of Bitcoin have also been adopted for use in a variety of new financial instruments, and those need to be discussed.

Bitcoin Talk is in a fairly unique position, it has a number of early adopters of Bitcoin in its membership, and a global mix of new members with a genuine interest in the emerging financial systems. There is also a number of statisticians who are able to provide us with some interesting financial analyses. Ivory Tower provides a venue to discuss geo-political issues without the problems of the TwitBook spammers. I think it is important to understand Bitcoin's place in the emerging world order.

It would be very interesting to see more discussions about Bitcoin's place in the world order.

For now we have very few examples of countries where bitcoin has played a relevant role.

I think Venezuela and Zimbabwe are examples of destroyed economy, where bitcoin is making a few people's life easier... even through this forum (with bounties)

Japan and South Korea are countries where we saw a nice adoption and governments are trying to embrace bitcoin with good regulations.

There is also China, where most of miners come from.... The government (and communist party) is probably somehow involved. I would like to hear about this from Chinese.

However, I don't see many members from these 4 countries in the forum. I wish they could comment this bitcoin situation there.

-Venezuela Dictatorship supporter speech-

We live this daily here in Brazil.

About 30% of the population supports Lula and Dilma, in the same way there are people who support Chavez and Maduro in Venezuela.

Lula is not a socialist................
Please look at this video, as Lula says "Maduro is a brilliant guy", who is building with him a "more democrat and solitary Latin America" .... There is a spanish subtitle, please translate at google translator if you are interested in learning the truth about Lula...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIzRAvXP1dE#action=share

Arrested without proof??
https://venezuelanalysis.com/news/13760
President Maduro and over fifty Venezuelan grassroots movements have voiced their solidarity with popular leftist former President Lula da Silva.
“What is going on in Brazil is a coup d’état,” Maduro declared during a ceremony broadcast on state television Saturday.

Brazil is not a socialist economy?.....
https://www.heritage.org/index/ranking

Brazil is 153 out of  180 in the Economic Freedom Index. Wake up.
Mongolia, Pakistan, even China (with their communist party ruling the country) are before us in this rank. China is 110.

Some people vote for Lula to receive Bolsa Familia, others vote because they are corrupted, others vote because they will receive money or a job in the government, others vote because they are just dumb.

There is no reason to support a criminal who is already in Jail, and was Judged by all available courts in the country, even the Supreme Court.
This criminal wants now to become a President again, and there are people supporting him. To "fight USA imperialism"

I would be laughing if they didn't want to make us become Venezuela.

12089  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Wikipedia requests your support on: July 05, 2018, 01:45:13 PM
I have one newbie doubt about this subject.

Is bitcointalk server hosted in Europe? Can't it be hosted somewhere else?

If it's not hosted in Europe, why should we care about this regulation?
Europe would block bitcointalk or Wikipedia from being accessed, just like China do to Google?

I think thats too authoritarian for such political correct continent.

What are the real implications of this regulation? How far can governments and states regulate the internet ?
12090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [FULL] BITCORE BTX Reddit Campaign - Full Members+ - Earn $20/Week on: July 05, 2018, 10:50:59 AM
Just checking if any update on the new address format, does this affect the current reddit pay outs?

According to this post we have still 3 months to upgrade it.
I use coinomi and it still does not support those new addresses

Important update: Bitcore Public Keys

Dear Bitcore community,

Due to potential roadblocks with many hardware and service providers, we have come to the conclusion that it is necessary for us to change the public key prefix. Since we use the same prefix as bitcoin ("1", "3" and "bc1"), we decided that Bitcore BTX should use the following new prefixes:

Wallets 1xxx -> 2xxx
Wallets 3xxx -> sxxx
Wallets bc1 -> btx

We would like to ask all Bitcore users to slowly but surely upgrade to the new system.
To do so, please follow these steps:
1. Open your Bitcore core / Bitcore-QT wallet.
2. Create a backup of your wallet.dat and store it in a safe place. For example a USB-Stick that you later put in a safe-deposit box.
3. Download the latest wallet and replace the wallet.dat that will be created on startup with your old wallet.dat
4. Bitcore-QT will automatically create new public keys for your private keys, starting with 2xxx instead of 1xxx.
5. It is important to note, that you can only use your old public keys to send to other old addresses and vis versa - you can send only to the new format from the new format. The address formats are not interchangeable.

Please note that the private keys are in no way affected by this change.
Any private key is fully compatible with both the old formatting as well as the new one.

The new wallet, supporting the new format only, is still in beta mode but can be download and tested via the official github:
https://github.com/LIMXTEC/BitCore/releases
Note: There will be an official release soon. Meanwhile here is a basic tool, to convert old addresses to the new 2xxx format: https://limxtec.github.io/btx-convert/

We also want to inform you that there's no rush to update, we set a timeframe of 3 months in which we want to complete the transition. After this period bitcore core 0.16 will be released which will only use the new public keys.
If you have any questions feel free to ask here in the forum or on our numerous social media and telegram channels. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1883902.msg40724430#msg40724430 for a full link list.

Thank you for your support and for your understanding.

12091  Economy / Services / Re: 🔥 HELP CASHING OUT "815 ETHEREUM" > "$383,767K" and "745 E Classic" $12597🔥 on: July 05, 2018, 04:11:32 AM
Essentially what you're saying is you found a private key collision on the Ethereum blockchain, and Ethereum would be broken as a result of it (since you are claiming you got access to someone else's ~$400k worth of ETH/ETC and could fuck them over if you are successful in liquidating it). If this was true, it would have a devastating effect on ETH and crypto as a whole. Pretty bold claim - would love to see the proof of it.
At last someone who understands my point. Yes I did! And not only a key collision, but I have an equal deterministic way of generating ethereum private keys deterministically from a bitcoin entropic constant and hit ETH keys with balances in them.

I can share proofs but posting people's addresses in public with bal in them most still in use is not a polite thing to do...  but in private i def would! (screenshots, address, private keys) whichever requested. I don't know much about ETH like i stated before, but i know quite enough about bitcoin.

Something is not right here.

Maybe you are extremely luck and found a collision. Whatever software you build cannot find collisions (it would be more lucrative to mine).
However, if you really make a software that can do it..... ( I doubt it since you are here in this forum on the wrong session asking for help.)

But anyway, if you truly did, just sell these ethereum, get rich and then destroy cryptocurrencies forever. Just spread the word that you can break private keys and cryptocurriencies will be dead soon.

Go to bitcoin technical discussion board and try to explain what you did there.

Look at the bottom of this page MOVE TOPIC button. Just click it and move this topic there.

There are knowledge people there who will makes things clear for you. Something is not right, I think you do not really own the private key of that address you are talking about, or you were extremely luck.
12092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NANO a best coin out there? on: July 05, 2018, 03:39:29 AM
It seems NANO has reached bottom now and under $3 seems like a good price to accumulate more. Wonder how many of you here think it has high potential to over take LTC in a bull market?

It hardly will overtake LTC or any other good coin.

Nano is a centralized coin, which runs an untested security algorithm (DPoS).

BTC and ETH are about to launch lightning network and plasma, which will both make instant and almost free transactions.
There will be no space for nano, unless they provide something MORE than just "instant and free"

Everytime you are using a centralized cryptocurrency, you should ask yourself: "Why shouldn't I use visa instead?"
12093  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 05, 2018, 03:32:35 AM
Be patient and polite, you will not get what you want this way.

Bump this thread periodically and I believe you will get a moderator soon. Theymos has interest in having french board working, as it increases forums traffic.
12094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why so many ico's?? on: July 05, 2018, 02:37:04 AM
When i see the dozens of ico's everyday i ask directly a simple question...Is it easy to this degree to make a ico??
It's easy to make an ICO.

It's hard to convince people to give money to your ICO. Well, maybe not as hard as it should be...
12095  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is it possible to understand bitcoin deeply without having an IT background? on: July 04, 2018, 03:50:10 PM
I wonder why did not you have satoshi in mind instead of nullius  Tongue

PS: By the way, what you said had nothing wrong at all. Hope it did not annoy you.

Well, I consider impossible to become like Satoshi even if you study hard lol
People think that Satoshi could also be a group of people.

Anyway, Satoshi creation was revolutionary, and now he made history.

Nullius is just a smart guy. Wink
12096  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is it possible to understand bitcoin deeply without having an IT background? on: July 04, 2018, 12:52:12 PM
Yes it is.

I studied something totally unrelated to IT in the university. But I always liked computers, technology...

If you really want, just get this book:
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/book.asciidoc
Mastering bitcoin, from Andreas Antonopoulos. You can buy it on Amazon or just read it there for free.

It will explain you everything you need to know. There is one chapter in the book that he says that if you are not a professional coder, you can just skip it (he explains commands in Bitcoin Core software in this chapter)

After reading it, I even got a certification from https://cryptoconsortium.org/

So yes, everyone can learn how it works.

Deeply, well, it depends what do you call deeply... You will never be a nullius without studying for years....
12097  Economy / Economics / Re: Security issues relating to Private Keys storage on: July 04, 2018, 12:40:44 PM
If you are willing to keep your coins in cloud storage, you should at least split the seed in two and keep half in each storage.

However, I don't think that's safe enough. Ideally you should just write it down on a piece of paper. Keep the paper in different places and you are safe.

Honestly, just let things be the way they are. Spam cannot be reduced by putting merit restrictions. People would just find loopholes.

I think merit restriction will reduce spam in the long run, as new spammers accounts are now worthless.
In a few months/years some of those high rank spammers accounts will be reported and banned. It's a slow process, but I think the forum is on the right path now.
