1984 and Brave New world had in common a centralized government, a giant empire that controls everything you do and think.
While 1984 people are controlled by an the big brother that seed and hear everything (through cams and agents) , in brave New world people are just conditiinated since they were born to behave in a certain way.
Amazing books.
No doubt bitcoin and the whole cypherpunk moviment were influenced by those writers, and it is a response to the big centralization they predicted.
However, I read somewhere that bitcoin could have an unexpected and opposite effect: it could, as a world currency, serve a world government. This is far from happening imo, but is worth thinking about it.

What I'm saying is bitcoin would have more support from normal investors if the founder was actually known.
Would you trust Amazon if Jeff Bezos sold all his stock? You would lose faith in the company.
I think that one of the genialities is that the founder is unknown. If he was known, bitcoin would be centralized on Satoshi. Like the Vitalik's blockchain. Every tweet, every interview, all he does would be attached to bitcoin. People would be looking for details in his personal life (like a lover or some legal problem whatever) and price would go up and down... Everything would be centralized on him. Disappearing was a great idea, so bitcoin could grow by itself decentralized |

A lot of people who inspect the source seem to say things to the tune of ‘bitcoin doesn’t have smart contracts for security reasons’ which seems a worrying statement... I am kinda illiterate in it so no comments. But there's still a reason why bitcoin doesn't have it and it's not even a BIP. Ok I am not a specialist, but I have read some about this. Ethereum is known to be "Turing complete". His means that anything programmable can be programmed in the Network. There are some mechanisms which protect the network against attacks such as DOS (denial of service, like applications that would be looping forever and crash the network), like the gas system. However, as anything can be done, it's both a strength and a weakness. As someone one day may be able to make a smartc ontract that would somehow attack the network. Another important characteristic of ethereum network are the Dapps. Decentralized Applications are applications that cannot be stopped. This may also be a security problem... Bitcoinon the other hand is not Turing complete and it's programmable languages are much simpler. So the attacker would have less possibilities to attempt something. I believe more DT are not necessary, as the current active dt members are acting very fast when needed.
There are many recent examples.
On the other hand , most people want to get a green trust rating and become a DT, as the account becomes more valuable.
There are also many examples of new users who were apparently doing a nice job and were quickly tagged for suspicious activity or worse..
Maybe in local boards , however I doubt many local have an active marketplace.

Aqui o pessoal usa btc como moeda no dia a dia para qualquer serviço que seja possível fazer na internet. Desde resolver catchas, fazer páginas web, assinaturas, imagens, trabalhos como desenvolvedor,....
E o mercado financeiro nao é diretamente correlacionado ao bitcoin tb...
Só acertou que o bitcoin tem crises cíclicas e volatilidade...

Bastante interessante. Eu realmente sempre ignorei as referências do white paper do bitcoin. É inegável a semelhança com o blockchain.
Por isso q o Andreas Antonopoulos sempre fala que a grande invenção do Satoshi é o proof of work, pois foi o que permitiu que esse sistema funcionasse (e que não foi previsto nesse artigo do wei daí). Vou estudar mais sobre esse assunto.
Cada vez mais encontramos só desinformação e notícias repetidas por aí. Bom ver algo real e de qualidade.

I don't think it is shitposting, but it is quite irrelevant because nobody is expected to be paid in litecoin here, and there are other coins which starts with 3 (like many of the recently Bitcoin forks). Guys, guys... What are you talking about no backup for GA 2FA?
You can fucking write down the "seed", store it in a safe place, and recover from it if needed..
Also, another option is using FIDO 2FA which everyone with a hardware wallet could use. It would be really easy to implement too. And it makes sense, because... crypto, you know.
Have you ever tried to fuking writing down this crazy GA seed ? It's not like a recovery phrase with 12 words... Looks much more like an address. I have dozens of 2fa seeds, if I had to write all of them I would be fuked up. |

Which is actually a bit of a problem...
I've always found GA to be a little obscure on how to retrieve your infos if you lost your phone or it suddenly stops working.
Google authenticatior (ga) is not obscure about anything. They clearly state at their website that if you lose your phone, it is over. There is no backup or anything. It is safer, because it cannot be hacked... So safe that even you cannot access if you lose it. What you can do is use Authy instead of GA, which is backed up in a cloud... Not like there is BTC stored here. And hacking an account has 0 value as it would soon be tagged as stolen.
Those accounts are valuable. They do not hold BTC, but they may have sentiment value... They also have can be used to earn BTC through campaigns/bounties. They also carry your reputation, as some of those accounts have holder hundreds of BTC as escrow or something like that .. some also are used by professional developers.. So, those accounts should be more protected in my opinion. |

^ My theory is that there was a bonafide intention to create that new forum software but the development never reached a satisfactory result. Probably many of those initial 6000BTC (is this a completely confirmed exact amount btw?) were spent along the path at price WAY lower than todays.
The value was not spend. I saw the address few months ago and it was intact. I don't want tk find it now but someone posted in a topic few time ago. I doubt this new forum software is going to beê released anytime soon. I agree with you about 2fa and recovery, that's urgent. Hilariousandco said it will be released soon (automatic recovery). 2fa is a dream which will never come true. However it would generate a lot of problems too, as people would soon be crying about losing their Google authenticatior... |
