^ My theory is that there was a bonafide intention to create that new forum software but the development never reached a satisfactory result. Probably many of those initial 6000BTC (is this a completely confirmed exact amount btw?) were spent along the path at prices WAY lower than todays.

IIRC there was also a good chunk that got "lost" when one of the custodians died.

In other words: Shit happens.

Why the feeling that a new forum software was needed is something I don't know as it is a subject I have never been really interested in.

Anyways, at this point I am completely speculating with no base tbh.

The 6000 btc is a pretty solid number that can be confirmed from multiple sources. Even if you just go by the old list of doners it’s in the 3000 range with another 3000 coming from advertisers. Parapan was only holding 200 btc when he “died”. You’re right shit does happen. TBH I don’t really care about the forum software anymore either. There are too many other sources of bitcoin info now and this forum (with the exception of this thread) is nothing more than an altcoin bounty advertising medium. Speculation is fun sometimes though. Isn’t that what everyone is doing here, speculating? LOL

The next few hours will be crucial.tm

Given the weakness in equities, I'm a bit disappointed that there doesn't appear to be any "safe haven" hedging role for Bitcoin.

Which is actually a bit of a problem...
I've always found GA to be a little obscure on how to retrieve your infos if you lost your phone or it suddenly stops working.

Google authenticatior (ga) is not obscure about anything. They clearly state at their website that if you lose your phone, it is over. There is no backup or anything. It is safer, because it cannot be hacked... So safe that even you cannot access if you lose it.

What you can do is use Authy instead of GA, which is backed up in a cloud... It is less secure, as it can be hacked.

But don't really see the point of 2FA on the forum though Oo
Not like there is BTC stored here. And hacking an account has 0 value as it would soon be tagged as stolen.

Those accounts are valuable.
They do not hold BTC, but they may have sentiment value... They also have can be used to earn BTC through campaigns/bounties. They also carry your reputation, as some of those accounts have holder hundreds of BTC as escrow or something like that .. some also are used by professional developers..

So, those accounts should be more protected in my opinion.

Guys, guys... What are you talking about no backup for GA 2FA?

You can fucking write down the "seed", store it in a safe place, and recover from it if needed..

Also, another option is using FIDO 2FA which everyone with a hardware wallet could use. It would be really easy to implement too. And it makes sense, because... crypto, you know.

It's been ages since the last time I came to this forum.

So, first question:
Where the hell is Kwuckduck in times of total market capitulation? lol

And then, I've an important advice to everyone. Yes, a trading advice: DON'T PANIC!
And if you're feeling that you have to panic sell, go out, meet your friends, drink a beer(bear) and have sex with your girlfriend.
And then go to sleep.

First: welcome back

Second: This advice doesn't concern only panick sellers but everyone in fact  Cheesy
Thanks buddy.

So, when is the $100 000 WO party and where? I pay the subway ticket for the bears.

Which means if you implement GA you need a recovery option satisfying everyone and most plateform I know have a dedicated support team, the forum isn't going to get that ^^

I don't know... The value drops to 0 as soon as you make a new account to claim yours was stolen... It's red tagged immediately then you force recovery by signing a message with a previous adress then you remove the red...
It takes time for sure but it makes any hacking obviously unprofitable

Have you ever tried to fuking writing down this crazy GA seed ? It's not like a recovery phrase with 12 words... Looks much more like an address.

I have dozens of 2fa seeds, if I had to write all of them I would be fuked up.

Another option is simply snapshotting the initial 2fa code and installing it on multiple devices, and having one (or three)  tucked away somewhere..... safe...

Yes, I have. At least for the important stuff, like exchanges and the like. Writing down a 12 words recovery phrase takes much longer btw.

I would feel fucked up if I didn't have a backup. #DYOR

OMG what a dumpster fire shit show. Everyone involved should be ashamed. This is NOT how Bitcoin wins hearts and minds of the public, quite the opposite. These fkn idiots need to grow up.

We will not go far with people like these, it hurts the bad image they give to the world of cryptography, mainly to bitcoin  Huh

Well, that's right. I just use a different back up method. Authy.

Your method works well too.

What about tethering it? I would rely on USDT if I felt btc would dip. That's my strategy and I think it's a safe Haven.

I solidly prefer the 12 seed phrase words to the GA. It keeps my kind at rest against any malfunctioning app or lost by.

The decision stated that the assets being traded by Orionx, including ETH, XRP, LTC, and BTC, lacked physical manifestation and had “no intrinsic value,”

These guys are rocket scientists.  Who could have possibly guessed shitcoins are imaginary, valueless tokens pumped to the stratosphere through manipulation, miles above their actual value of zero.  Have fun with that 100% seigniorage fee since the bottom can drop out of cost of production at any second unlike real, physical assets like metals:

and who doesn't know this story Wink

That's really stupid sheep mentallity Oo

Why wanting to buy at 20k and not at 3k7? oO
They have seen already on what happened on the price and for those people who dont know on how crypto
moves would definitely have the same impressions.

They would start to buy in when they do already saw bitcoins price tends to rise up again. This is what most
people do really likes to do.

It's because they now have fear that they don't know where the bull run really started... and they fear it could be walked all the way back to ~$400, lol.

yeah one friend of me said TODAY.... that he will buy BTC but gonna wait for the BULLrun, i asked and when or how do you gonna see that
he said i think the price can drop like 1k maybe more but when it shoots UP with minimum 1k then i'm a buyer
and i was like so first there must be a 1K minimum pump then buying ?? (he says to be a long term believer)
don't understand this kind of peoples .... why not buy and keep buying low for avg lower price
as easy as that

Good morning.

There appears to be a fire sale in legacy markets this morning. This is fine...

Bitcoin however resilient seems headed for new yearly lows. Testing support in the $3.6k range, we have already pierced that milestone..at least on some exchanges. Indicating further declines are in store.
