I feel bad this turned into such a anti-mining thread.  I think OP has a lot of challenges to say the least though.

For some helpful advice can you tell us what miner you ordered? (By price it sounds like a A1 1T I'm guessing)
12162  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New Diff thread Mar 8 to Mar 22. on: March 14, 2015, 08:53:43 PM
With the DDOS attacks do you think there's people desperately trying to keep the difficulty down?

With backup pools I do not see this as much of a factor in difficulty.  At this point everyone should have fail over pool's.

I think it shows a bad trend seeing multiple get attacked for not paying "ransoms".  It is more of a pain and costs the pool money to fix, then it costs the miner.

I know I personally have not had a time where my 3 pools all are down.
12163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AlcheMiner 96MH/s Alchemist Scrypt Miner Unboxing / Review on: March 14, 2015, 06:45:40 AM

Hmm - so it doesn't come with any PSU?  What would you use for 2.2Kw?  And you'd need two separate circuits 15 Amp Circuits (US)?  Sounds a little dangerous unless you get an electrician to wire a special circuit.

Also - this company only accepts BTC?  What prevents them from scamming everyone?

And on top of that shipping of the unit is $260?

Does not seem like that great of a deal in the end - and could easily be an exit scam.

That is why they make 220/240.   You are correct 2.2Kw is not happening on a single 110 even if you used a 20 amp breaker.
12164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need help chosing motherboard and PSU on: March 14, 2015, 06:44:10 AM
I would be careful of HashCoins Triton card ordering.  It is a pre-order and pre-orders a lot of times do not go well.

I would suggest looking at asics if you have to do scrypt look at ones currently out not pre-orders.

Do some ROI math chances are buying PSU and Motherboard will not ever pay off with GPU mining.

Thanks for your reply. My OP stated that I intended to mine only with the Triton (=ASIC mining), while reserving the GPUs for other tasks.
Quote
I understand the two AMD 7550 GPUs are pretty obsolete for scrypt mining, so I would leave the heavy lifting to the Triton and use the GPUs for other tasks, like the occasional password cracking with oclHashcat.

1) Having read through the 472 threads of the HashCoins announcement, I am indeed concerned about their delivery times for pre-orders, but I've looked around and I have a hard time finding a scrypt miner with a better ROI (36 MH/s / 144W) within this price range  (I'm trying to stay under $800).

2) Moreover, I like the PCI-e format, the idea of having a rather powerful ASIC miner, "hidden" inside my PC. Are there any other scrypt ASIC miners in this format that are already available?

1) I understand what you are saying.  Yes it does look good on paper but there is a chance you order it and NEVER get your money back or get the product.  They mention Q1 2015 and they have no prototype Ive seen on this card, so it is not looking good.  There are a lot more options in BTC mining.  Scrypt most companies are not putting much R/D into it.  Just does not make business sense.

2) No there are some old USB sticks, but not PCI-e asics for scrypt (that I have seen).   A case just is not the perfect environment for a miner, it's why most GPU miners were doing open air rigs.

I  hate to be the killjoy but I would look at a miner that has been shown to exist and is standalone.
12165  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Methods of getting free electricity on: March 14, 2015, 06:37:42 AM
I used to work at this company which used to pay my electricity bills. I think I could have taken advantage of that to run miners, but a sudden rise of cost might have tipped them off. So I didn't.
But Thats the only way I can think of getting free-electricity.

The only thing I have ever had close is student housing.  It is more and more common with student appartments to include electricity with a cap price.  Mine it was included and the highest "peak" they would charge is 25 dollars extra.

That being said they are not built for mining or lots of watts.   Also I did not do it as It would have been kinda a ass move as my roommates would have paid higher price (25 dollars each) if I abused it.

If you use much more electricity than average in a student housing, you may be targeted for a verification that you are not growing marijuana plants.

The main thing they were worried about is damage to apartment.  So they would check a few times a semester to make sure the room's and things were not all torn up.

But if you did get a single without roommates I suppose you could have ran 4-5 110 circuits with miners.  But would not be able to do much as far as managing air to cool them.
12166  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: March 14, 2015, 06:33:01 AM
Now, it is back up  Cheesy    for now...  Cry

If you are still mining at Antpool, please make sure to set Pool2 and Pool3 outside Antpool

Thanks for getting it back up!  And thanks for the headache's and extra work it sounds like.

You are still at my pool 1 Smiley

Another nice addition you did.  Will be interesting to see.  Would love to see it beat the plat. psu.  But I'm guessing in gold range.
12168  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining operation on: March 13, 2015, 09:05:38 PM
Degree C. In the sun at extreme. Its near Turkey

Ok wow I highly suggest trying on a small scale.  That is extreme for a ambient mining.

I think you will be surprised how much heat they can put out.  Maybe someone has some advice but 122 F to start with is like a nightmare for a miner. You will not be able to pull outside air in and exhaust it out.    You will have to have all air going through AC's.  20TH in that like you mention is just going to be hard.

gives us 'real' time +1.26%

future numb is good

(+1.43%)

price is

291 usd.

At 300 usd and 1.5% jumps   my sp20e's can earn over power until sept 2016

Price seems good 290+ with current diffficulty i just keep hoping to get the 300+ .

This is a interesting time with miners seems kinda to be between generations.   I'm hoping this means difficulty stays low or a bit.
12170  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining operation on: March 13, 2015, 07:56:42 PM
It is a country in the middle east. Im summier it is 50degree so every house has lots of colliers. Rent is no problem aswell (oftopic) haha. The hardware is an esyimate from hardware I already purchased second hand and China import.

When you say 50 degree do you mean in F or C?

As far as I'm concerned as long as difficulty stays down we are all winners.  I might not have been able to claim the BTC0.1 prize last time, but I'm earning about BTC0.03 more during these 2016 blocks than if my guess was correct.   If that can repeat then I'm all for it!

As a bonus the price is up too, which means I don't have to cash out as big of a percentage of earnings to cover the power bill (more BTC kept long term).

I can't complain  if diff is under 2% and price jumps 10%

Same here.  With price jump it's been nice.  Seems 300 is going to be a little barrier chances are with auto sells etc.  But I'm hoping in next month to pass 300 mark consistently.
12174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BitCrane T-110S for $614! on: March 13, 2015, 12:41:11 AM
Cool, thanks. Goona keep the BitCrane order as half was paid by a family member for my Birthday, but was thinking about some more s3+'s
It's not bad it just bad on efficiency but electric isn't costly you may be close especially if BTC goes up and if you can underclock for better efficiency you'll be better off.

Yeah, electric is fairly cheap where I am, but mostly mining as a hobby so won't ever have a huge farm op.
Don't forget to use them to heat your room in Winter, it will essentially be mining for heat and save you the electric cost of turning on your regular heater.

Sadly its switching seasons.  I have been getting into summer mode for mining.  Lot's of taking temperature readings and adjusting.
12175  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: March 13, 2015, 12:38:51 AM
We sold out all of our 2nd gen miners.

Congratz Guy!

Cant wait to see what you have next.
12176  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining operation on: March 12, 2015, 09:44:38 AM
Most of my appartments will need rewiring to make sure no shortcuts or other issues can occur. I have attached a cooling system in every room. All of this can be backed up by pictures of the appartments.

I would suggest starting small and growing.

But how you talk about 100T of gear there just is no way it will be in a apartment.  It will take a building/warehouse and a lot of things done to it.  Residential miners will be much much less then 100T.
12177  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining operation on: March 12, 2015, 08:21:03 AM
Guys we are going of topic with the replies. I asked for expertise not for research into my honestnes.  I can get th/s at that price, as I mentioned Electricity is so cheap that efficiency does not matter so i can also buy second hand miners. I just need findings, it does mot have to be much. And need expertise of People with 50th/s or higher operation that ks running right now

To go back to your topic.  Yes you could use BTC Jam or Loan forum here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=65.0

With being new to get loan on forum will need to jump through hoops and have collateral to cover loan. As a general rule most lenders hate to loan for mining operations.  They are normally looking for different types of loans.

You will have to have a "A" on BTC jam rating, and if you have no history it is again harder to get.  You can see current listings - https://btcjam.com/listings/f/all-terms/usd-tied,btc-tied,brl-tied,rub-tied,eur-tied,mxn-tied,inr-tied/all-ratings/safe/no-hide/asc,3/mining?page=1

Your operation you ask for 100 to 300 (of some 260 per miner) comes out to 26,000 to 78,000.

That does not include location rent, also most locations will not want to let you modify building for mining.  You need to do a lot of electrical work, and a good exhaust system.  Then have networking gear.  The list goes on and on.

Im sorry to say but most likely you will not find a investor online.  You most likely will need to fund yourself, or have a plan for bank or someone who knows you to try to get funding.
12178  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining operation on: March 12, 2015, 08:07:05 AM
Who's giving you $260/TH? I've talked to Bitmain, Spondoolies and Avalon in the last week and haven't gotten numbers that good from any of them.

It is very possible to get this low or lower, you just have to order the right quantity.

Please show proof of any company with current gen miner doing this.  Specifically the 3 companies mentioned in what you quoted. I don't see getting 260 and definitely not lower.

Easily done.

http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/holiday-special-sp20-mini-farm-batch-2

$5495.00/15 = $366.33 each

$366.33/1.7 = $215.49 per Th  (Even if you go with 1.65 or 1.6 its still less then $250, cause getting them to 1.7 or higher is a PITA)

That was only 15, imagine ordering in quantities of 50+

I will give you credit showing something those.  But they are sold out and will not produce SP20's anymore.  I cannot find quote but I believe they said last batches were sold at a loss.

SP has the SP31 in stock 2000/5T = 400 per TH.

Look at Bitmain S5 419/1.155 T = 375

I honestly hope I am wrong and you can show a current gen miner being sold at 260 per T but I just don't see it unless going twords old gear.

I'm guessing some old Dragon's (A1's).  That is about their going rate.   I don't think anything current gen for that.
