A new submission:

I don't think you should be using another company name, logo, and likeness without their permission.  Especially not in a manner which seems to be confusing people.

I assure you that I mean no malice is using BitPay's name, let alone using said entity to perpetuate this contest. The contest is genuine. The offer for other Bitcoin entities to get involve on their own is also genuine. I could have easily use a fictitious name like AcmeCoinMe to play it safe, but opted to plug BitPay.

I do respect your concern, D&T.

...if you want to know something about me just ask.

At what post count are you planning on introducing the next big thing that involves Bitcoin, whereupon later we learn it was all a scam? Please reply with only a post count number, for any lengthly dialog addressing this post would most certainly prove that you have something up your sleeve.  Grin Grin Grin

Question; Why hasn't bitpay posted this themselves??

As already mention, the BitPay Rock was only an example. I like BitPay, therefore plugged them to show others how they can gain some mileage from this. Please forgive me if I have confused you. I did my best in the OP, stipulating twice that the BitPay Rock was only an example.

As far as for verification goes, simply take a screenshot and crop it large enough, thus proving your claim, as somebody else has already mentioned. I don't think you're going to find two rocks that are identical, especially if the game rock is of odd shape oppose to being squarish.

Wouldn't it be something if somebody took it upon themselves to number all the rock in this image? And don't number them in order. For instance rock #1 could have #904 to its right, #3807 to its left, etc.

Now get back to huntin' the Genesis Rock.

The example rock above I labeled BitPay Rock. Any other Bitcoin entity can get in on the act by starting their own thread in Newbie or Off-topic and possibly titling their thread (example) Hunt the Coinabul Rock (x BTC reward) or Hunt the Mt Gox Rock or Hunt the Butterfly Labs Rock. (you get the gist)

You can the make the hunting as easy or as hard as you wish and add your rules to the hunt. The bottom line, if done properly, this should increase  your bottom line by bringing further awareness to your brand. Think about it!

12168  Other / Beginners & Help / FOUND!!! Hunt the Genesis Rock to earn a free Bitcoin. FOUND!!! on: November 28, 2012, 05:45:11 PM

The rock is located in this image which is zoomable: http://www.gigapixelperu.com/Machu_Picchu_16_Gigapixels/Welcome.html

The following is an example of how advertisers can take advantage of this.

Today's free Bitcoin is sponsored by BitPay.

BitPay will reward BTC1 plus a mBTC for each page view of this thread to the first person who finds the BitPay Rock in this image: http://www.gigapixelperu.com/Machu_Picchu_16_Gigapixels/Welcome.html

If after 30 days the BitPay Rock has not been found, then possibly a more easier rock will be displayed.

Thank you for viewing this thread and happy hunting from the team at BitPay.

(sig goes here)

The above scenario is just an example, but I am rewarding BTC1 to the first person who finds the rock depicted in the first image of this post within the next 30 days. The rock truly is located in this image: http://www.gigapixelperu.com/Machu_Picchu_16_Gigapixels/Welcome.html

He was laughed out of it

Haha imagine being laughed out of this clown college of a forum. Embarrassing stuff!

Considering how often it happens around here, maybe it's not as much of a "clown college" as you think.

Aren't you the guy with the creepy coffee table?

Rassah's coffee table is a fine piece of art. Definitely not creepy.

Mars has water. Not a lot, but it may be enough. And if you use some solar panels to pump electricity through that H2O, you'll have some H fuel and O to breathe. But yes, it's not as nice as landing on a tropical island. However, tropical islands don't have drinkable water (unless you manage to find a spring), and don't really have food, unless you feel like chewing on vines and bark. So, although it looked prettier, back then it was rather inhospitable as well.

At least there will be food to eat.

At least 700 people watching on blockchain right now. There should be a little something extra on the #210000 page.
At least... behind one of those 700 monitors sit 3 people

How many are setting on toilets like I am?

People are spamming satoshidice with bets real bad right now lol

Free advertising if the owner(s) is behind the bets. I wonder if it will cease once the novelty is over.

Wouldn't it be funny if the IP that mines the first 25 block was located in KS/MO?

BitPay appears to be really busy, I got an answer pretty quickly last night after my contact at BUND Berlin sent an email to their media contact explaining the situation in more detail - certainly not the way things should be.

Basically BitPay is saying they pay quite a hefty fee for SEPA on their end at the moment and this won't change until they establish a bank account / presence in the EU. They've asked about how much accumulation of funds > 100 EUR BUND is willing to agree to per payout, to lower the fees.

BUND Berlin would much like to use the BitPay functionality plus look and feel - with auto currency conversion for the donor, individual hashes / QR codes etc.

Auto conversion to EUR by MtGox and then paying out SEPA sounds like a good idea - 0.6% trade fee for the conversion is acceptable, SEPA payouts are free at MtGox?

I currently see the following possible compromise: Use BitPay just to receive BTC, have them pay a BUND Berlin account at MtGox which will immediately convert to EUR and ask BUND Berlin to clear funds to their bank account regularly when the amount on there is feasable. If we manage to convince BitPay to waive fees for receiving just BTC for non-US charities that would be a great leap forward. Alternatives could be WalletBit and Paysius any other competitors? I'm not sure how stable AcceptBit.com code is yet but it's probably too much hassle to set up for most charities - could be a last resort for BUND Berlin though...

Allow me to try to do this again:

I currently see the following possible compromise: Use BitPay just to receive BTC, have them pay a BUND Berlin account at MtGox which will immediately convert to EUR and ask BUND Berlin to clear funds to their bank account regularly when the amount on there is feasable. If we manage to convince BitPay to waive fees for receiving just BTC for non-US charities that would be a great leap forward. Either BitPay waives the fees or lowers them, whereupon I will pay the difference or the entire fee. It makes no difference to me. I desire BitPay to be the liaison between BTC and fiat, regardless, with no ill feelings on my end if they can't, for whatever reason (and needs no explanation), lower/eliminate the fees.

Delusional? I think you, I and Elon realize that Marstizens won't be happy if their lives consisted of only all work and no play. Now what could be a perfect fit to compliment the current Martian landscape?

I got it!

Below, you're possibly looking at the first Marsfiaoso.
