1221  Economy / Goods / Chinese medicine/raw Burmese honey on: March 01, 2012, 09:21:53 AM

**see page two of the thread for Chinese medicine**

Here in Bangkok we have a lot of Burmese people.  Most of them come to do menial jobs but the people that I come in contact with are stone traders who are bringing ruby, spinel, or other gemstones into Thailand from their home country.  One very nice benefit to us is that there is usually a good supply of Burmese honey.  This is raw honey- it is nothing like the honey that you buy in developed countries.  It is not heated or micro-filtered.  The pollen is not removed from it.  It still has the anti-microbial features that has made honey the antibiotic of choice for centuries.

I buy this honey straight from the Burmese man who brings it in and it is usually bottled in these 750ml whiskey bottles.  I am re-packaging it into 100ml blue plastic food-grade bottles which are UV-resistant.  UV rays will damage raw honey.  These bottles are approximately 3.4 fluid ounces.  I may offer more sizes if the demand is strong.

One bottle is 2 bitcoins and shipping is 1 bitcoin for registered air mail with tracking.  So for 3 bitcoins you can sample what real Burmese honey tastes like, and if you are like me you won't be able to get enough of it.  Burmese honey is very popular here in Thailand and I am not sure why but locals seem to prefer it over Thai honey.

Please note that this is raw honey and it has not been processed other than very rough filtering.  This is not commercial honey.  There will be pollen and also may be very small bits of bee wings or legs.  But also unlike commercial honey, it kills bacteria, viruses, and fungus.  The propolis is not filtered out of this honey, and there is a full array of phytonutrients as well.  In addition, raw honey is an antioxidant.

A lot of what we remove when we process foods in developed countries is beneficial to the body.  Research now shows that there are ingredients in honey which can inhibit the growth of certain cancers, and it is believed that this is particularly relevant to colon cancer.  Are the small particles of pollen, propolis, and other beneficial ingredients in honey really so offensive that we have to filter them out and then cook it to death?  People have eaten honey for thousands of years without the benefit of high heat pasteurization or complex filtration methods- is it really so dangerous?

1229  Economy / Auctions / 24 hour auction **Superb intense blue Ethiopian hydrophane opal 3.11 cts** on: February 29, 2012, 02:30:33 PM
This is a spectacular hydrophane opal from Welo, Ethiopia.  The blue color is truly intense in this stunning opal, and it would make an amazing centerpiece on a piece of jewelry or it would accent almost any colored stone collection!

This stone weighs 3.11 carats and the dimensions are 10.61 x 5.87mm deep.  Finding a Welo opal over three carats with such intense pure-blue play of color is very difficult.  To find one that is also free of matrix or inclusions is even harder- but this is just such a stone.

Some people say this makes them think of a globe- and that is quite easy to see.  This stone is guaranteed to thrill you or you can have a full refund.  My wife and I always select these gemstones from very large parcels, and we only pick the most beautiful stones.  Our stones are definitely not commercial quality gems like you see in mass-market jewelry.  We always think of beauty first, and price-point second.

This regal gemstone starts at 13 bitcoins, and the auction is only 24 hours.  Bid early if you are interested as time flies!  The bid increment is 1BTC.  Good luck!

1232  Economy / Auctions / 24 hour auction **superb rhodolite garnet from Madagascar 2.20 carats** on: February 29, 2012, 08:24:17 AM
This is an amazing gemstone from Madagascar.  The inclusions that are easy to see in the pictures are actually quite small, and they scatter light to give the brilliance a softer look.  This is the very same concept behind some of the most valuable sapphires in the world from Kashmir.  In those sapphires, rutile "silk" scatters the light to give them a very pleasing soft brilliance.  In this Madagascan material, it is small crystals that grew inside of the host crystal.  These are like baby gems growing inside of this rhodolite garnet!

If you are not 100% satisfied with this gemstone you can return it within 31 days for a full refund- no questions asked.  My wife Melanie and I hand-select every gemstone that we sell and we guarantee your satisfaction.

This auction starts at 6BTC and the increment is .5BTC.  Good luck!

Thank you Danieldaniel you are leading at 4BTC!  Sorry Crosby, on this auction the bid increment is 1BTC so you would have to bid 5BTC to take the lead away.
1234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Need a partner for a bitcoin exchange (physical, not online) in Bangkok on: February 29, 2012, 06:51:10 AM
Right now there is no location in Thailand that I know of to sell bitcoins for cash or buy bitcoins for cash.  I am considering opening a location in the Jewelry Trade Center in the central business district of Silom in Bangkok for my gemstone and custom jewelry business, and I would also like to operate a bitcoin exchange.  But frankly if someone comes in and wants to sell 1,000 bitcoins I can't afford to take the cash out of my business to buy them.

If you are interested in some kind of partnership arrangement please contact me.  You must have substantial financial resources in cash.  If you would like to come to Bangkok to meet me and see the location I have in mind, all the better.

I am already at the JTC several times per week to buy gemstones, but when my store opens I will be there Monday through Friday.  It seems that in a megalopolis of 20 million people (counting expats and illegals) there must be some bitcoin business here.

Please- serious inquiries only.
1235  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin jewelry in the womb... on: February 28, 2012, 03:22:29 PM
Hi RaggedMonk, yes- these are for sale now.  My wife Melanie and I are custom jewelers and all of the jewelry that you see on this thread was drawn by our CAD artist.  We can modify it in any way that you wish, and can produce it in most common jewelry materials like sterling silver, white or yellow gold (14K, 18K, 22K), palladium 950, or Platinum 900 or 950.

We don't have a price list because we don't know the weight of a finished piece of jewelry to fit you.  If you want a copy of our policies and procedures just ask- this includes information on the fees incurred for each step in the process.  Most of the cost of a ring would be in the weight of the metal- except for silver because that is the most economical material.  In that case, making the model of your ring to cast (including the CAD design) is the most costly component.  Some people shy away from silver because it tarnishes, but we simply plate it with rhodium- just like white gold and platinum are plated with rhodium- and that problem is solved.

Let me know if you have any questions!

1237  Economy / Auctions / 24 hour auction **citrine 2.51 cts emerald shape** on: February 28, 2012, 12:13:47 PM
This gorgeous citrine gemstone comes from Brazil and is very well-cut with a lot of brilliance.  It is a very nice yellow hue and the tone is medium to medium-light.  It is very clean- clarity is VS+

Citrine is most often created from amethyst by simply heating it.  There is no other treatment on this stone- guaranteed.

Remember we always ship to you with registered air mail so you will have a tracking number.  The shipping cost is included in the price of the auction- you don't pay extra for it!

This auction starts at 4BTC and the bid increment is 1BTC.  Good luck!

Thank you Turbor!  Smiley
1239  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin jewelry in the womb... on: February 28, 2012, 05:12:01 AM
Saintflow- I can give you a wild guess.  Perhaps $850?  What we would have to do is make a model of the ring in your size and weigh the model.  The resin material of the model has a fixed density, so a mathematical relationship between the weight of the resin and weight of the palladium is easy to figure.  Since that tells us the amount of palladium we will use, we will then know the cost.  Of course sterling silver plated with rhodium would be much cheaper, and gold or platinum would be more expensive.

As for the private key- we may be able to laser-engrave it on the bottom of the coin inside the ring.  I have never tried this before- not sure.

I can make this with the slant- no problem.  The CAD files are just examples- any modifications desired can be implemented per the client's needs.
