This is the very same concept behind some of the most valuable sapphires in the world from Kashmir. In those sapphires, rutile "silk" scatters the light to give them a very pleasing soft brilliance. In this Madagascan material, it is small crystals that grew inside of the host crystal. These are like baby gems growing inside of this rhodolite garnet!
