1221  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what means 2e-8 BTC? on: November 22, 2023, 07:37:15 PM
Remember it like this: e-8 = exponential -8. It's 10^-8, so 2e-8 = 2 * 10^-8.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Turn non-RBF transaction to RBF enabled? on: November 22, 2023, 07:31:21 PM
I got the idea during research yesterday about the solution for non-rbf transaction and I came across  to this post below and they mentioned about -mempoolfullrbf(added on Bitcoin core v24.0) which accept transaction replacement without the original transaction replaceability signal.
Running a full node at the moment means you're probably already connected with someone who's running mempoolfullrbf=1, so broadcasting a replacement of a no-rbf transaction should probably pass.

Note that if you don't run your own full node, then probably blockstream's block explorer will accept Full RBF: https://blockstream.info/tx/push (connect there via Tor). That being said, I don't know if the Electrum server ignores policy rules, or if your Electrum client will allow you to do that.
1223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixing is NOT money laundering, per se on: November 22, 2023, 07:15:27 PM
Bitcoin is not fungible, so dirty coins can easily be identified on the Blockchain.
No. Bitcoin is fungible. There are no dirty coins, there are only people claiming they provide a service which can de-anonymize the blockchain to an extent, and which is evidently inaccurate and based on utter guesswork.

The transparency of BTC is not a bug but a feature. It's a great way keep an eye of the flow of transactions on the network.
The transparency of Bitcoin is not to make transactions identifiable, but to retain the property of open-source, free software.

The public now believes mixing is a very bad thing (thanks to government propaganda and misinformation).
Misinformation appears to be pretty effective based on your post.
1224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: They accumulate bitcoin but how about you? on: November 22, 2023, 03:09:20 PM
- There is no evidence of Satoshi ever owning more than a couple of bitcoin, let alone 1.1 million. (there isn't even evidence of Satoshi being alive)
- I cannot find evidence of Binance being valuated at 643k BTC. I do remember their cold storage address, but that contained less than 300k BTC.

The only investors on your list is I believe Micro Strategy and the Chinese Government.  China probably does seize Cryptocurrency too.  But I think over 70 percent of the Cryptocurrency the United States Government holds are seized assets while I did hear about China purchasing Bitcoin before out of their own initiative.
I'm struggling to imagine how these government holdings are worked out, because most of the time when they seize coins they sell them afterwards.
1225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Turn non-RBF transaction to RBF enabled? on: November 22, 2023, 02:53:58 PM
Opt-in RBF is enabled by default and there is proposal to enable Full RBF by default too.
That's probably the safest approach. Full RBF is the standard state of the network. According to Peter, 17% of 24.x listening nodes run full rbf. Nobody should treat opting-out RBF signal as non-replaceable. It is currently trivial even for a newbie to simply broadcast the replacement transaction to nodes that support that policy.

Unless the pool operators tell us what they are accepting then we could only hope that TXs like that would be mined.
Probably what grants them the most profit. So, I suppose, they support full rbf.
1226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the urban myth of the money of the future on: November 21, 2023, 07:43:05 PM
What serves as a value reference?
A unit that is censorship-resistant, denationalized, permissionless, always-available, private and insusceptible to any state intervention. Has value as long as people say so.

What future? Bitcoin is here and now, and pretty much my past of 7 years. What value definition is based solely on being able to eat/drink/wear it? Bitcoin does everything that money can, with much more freedom of use.
Don't bother to engage in discussion with him, he's a stubborn troll who has ignored everything told about Bitcoin's monetary value, around 5 times already. He is completely incapable of comprehending the invaluable properties of Bitcoin as money; his comprehension goes as far as fiat money.
1227  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Re: Μήπως αποτύχαμε ως ελληνική κοινότητα; on: November 21, 2023, 06:27:27 PM

1228  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Re: Μήπως αποτύχαμε ως ελληνική κοινότητα; on: November 21, 2023, 03:56:53 PM

Απλώς και πάλι, αν είχα συχνές πωλήσεις, μεγάλων ποσών, είναι εύκολο λες;
Αν πουλάς συχνά όχι, και ιδιαίτερα αν θες να πουλήσεις γρήγορα. Αυτή η μέθοδος ομολογώ πως μπορεί να διαρκέσει αρκετό καιρό... Μια βδομάδα Bisq running in the background ας πούμε!  Tongue
1229  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Re: Μήπως αποτύχαμε ως ελληνική κοινότητα; on: November 21, 2023, 09:20:20 AM

1230  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Which Linux distribution would you use now? on: November 20, 2023, 08:01:05 PM
I would argue it's good to learn to use the command line (and vi), but it comes with a steep learning curve. After that, it's much more powerful and faster than using a GUI.
Depends on what precisely you use it for. Simply editing text which could be also done using nano might be worth it, but when writing code, you have tools such as VSCode which provide another level of comfort and efficiency. Even better if you install the vim plugin and gain the advantages of vim, including VSCode's.

To me, the answer on that matter is simple. Learn a little bit of everything when it comes to the terminal, but don't put the terminal above everything. Knowing vim has particularly only helped me when editing files via an ssh-ed terminal. I can write code much faster and more correctly on VSCode.
1231  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk 14 years ago on: November 20, 2023, 05:07:29 PM
When you pay people to post, obviously they will post with more frequency, but that doesn't mean their forum is useful.
Disagree. Just check out the Dev & Tech board now and before signature campaigns. Currently, being paid to help there is like being a mod in stackexchange, but with less responsibilities and more flexibility.

I think for one reason, the culture of donations was lost, maybe it is because of the price, maybe people are no longer grateful, if that culture were not ended, there would be more interesting posts and people willing to help with the problems of others.
There would be less meaningless, unoriginal posts, granted. But, I strongly disagree that there would be more helpful posts. Quite the contrary. The current ability to resolve Bitcoin-related issues within a few hours demonstrates that a predominantly paid-driven board fosters a constructive and helpful environment.
1232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your solution to pay less Fee ? on: November 20, 2023, 04:51:37 PM
But you'll still need to pay for on-chain fees when you open a channel.
Yes, my suggestion applies for a daily basis, not for particularly one on-chain transaction. If you make on average 5-10 Bitcoin transactions a month, then it's better to open a channel and not worry about network congestion.

I know my out there feel uncomfortable to go with alts but matching up the tx fees is adding fuel to a fire 🔥 and end result is much higher fees.
One big problem is that we don't all have altcoin wallets setup. I don't use any other cryptocurrencies, so asking me to opt-out there requires me to spend time searching for their software development. My choice would be either Litecoin or Bitcoin Cash due to their adoption.
1233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Share Your Suggestions About Security For Bitcoin Wallet Android Users on: November 20, 2023, 04:43:58 PM
Pretty much what dkbit98 said. Mobile phone is the exact opposite to an airgapped device. It is designed to connect to as many networks as possible. If you're cautious on security, then you shouldn't be using a Bitcoin wallet on a smartphone with default stock Android pre-installed.

Instead, carry a small amount there. I'm using my phone for small, lightning-only transactions. Just as when when going out, I don't take my entire wallet with all my cash, same applies for my bitcoin.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is bigger block capacity still a taboo? on: November 20, 2023, 04:30:25 PM
Is it because it would also depend on what that person's definition of "scaling" is?
I'll have to agree with vjudeu's definition of scaling, even though I'd endorse a block size increase which is based on a studied rationale.

It is just a pure, linear growth.
Sure, but why is linear growth necessarily bad? You need a linearly grown basis to base your compression model later on.

But because they were rejected as a soft-fork, I am trying to create something else.
What was the reasoning of this rejection? And by whom were they rejected?
1235  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is your solution to pay less Fee ? on: November 19, 2023, 06:45:31 PM
- Open a lightning channel.
- Swap your bitcoin for a widely adopted altcoin like litecoin, and once this Ordinal spam ends, return back.

That's all. You can't do anything to enjoy less fees on-chain. There's this law of demand and supply regarding the block space which pulls us all back.
1236  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Free Raffle] Exclusive MixTum collectible card №6 on: November 19, 2023, 05:32:45 PM
Α - thanks!
1237  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Discussion] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: November 19, 2023, 04:22:24 PM
Is this the third community awards? Great.  Smiley

I think the money are better of a prize. I wouldn't want to ever receive a "cold wallet" as a prize. It'd be better for such things to be done by the individual, privately.
1238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is bigger block capacity still a taboo? on: November 19, 2023, 03:56:09 PM
a. thought that ASICS validate transaction data.. they dont .
No, I didn't. I'm just directly referring to mining pools as "miners".

heck your even wrong about the term miner
Cool it. I know what the terms mean, and all those stuff you mention. I'm just citing miners as those who broadcast the blocks for the sake of simplicity. No need to turn completely technical for every single thing we say, or we derail the thread.

b. then went and exaggerated a 1gb scenario of extreme irrationalness
Wanna tell us what's the ideal block size limit according to you?

I would say if we had 8MB blocks, we could hit the walls of $80,000 by now, but that's just speculation right?
Right.  Smiley
1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Is bigger block capacity still a taboo? on: November 19, 2023, 01:30:28 PM
I believe some of you might start going deeper into the argument for bigger blocks that you might also start to think Roger Ver and Bitcoin Cash made the right decision, and you might also start debating for Satoshi's original vision.
It really depends on what classifies as "right". Opinions fundamentally differ on block size policy.

I read many posts and to be honest I can't understand how increased block size can make bitcoin less secure. Is 1MB any standard for security?
I have explained in this post.

Also, I want to say that it's not a problem today to store bitcoin blockchain on hard drive.
Not on 4 MB blocks. Maybe neither on 10 MB or 20 MB, but if you arbitrarily increase it to something like 100, then that will also be a problem at some point.
1240  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Fair and unbiased coins have a bias to land on the same side they started on: November 19, 2023, 12:27:35 PM
The total number of coin flips was 350,757
Wow. I can't imagine the boredom. Must be killing.

In terms of entropy, shouldn't the difference (between ~0.508 and ~0.492) is extremely small? CMIIW.
It is extremely small. It has been demonstrated in this post and in here, that this particular difference results in a loss of 0.05 bits of entropy when tossed 256 times; even extremely biased dice can provide more than enough entropy if you toss them enough times.
