1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 07:17:25 PM
I've seen several threads where people preach teaching bitcoin to kids and I've also seen threads where others talked about having  some savings(investments) in bitcoin  for their kids which is right.

Just as my topic reads, we should stop stressing  kids with wanting them do things we didn't meet up doing and at some points getting them mentally stressed.

Please don't get me wrong because I'm typically  not against teaching  or maybe introducing bitcoin  to your kids but I'm  on the opinion  that rather than bother them with this complicated digital asset (bitcoin) knowing fully well that no matter how much knowledge  we have about it, if we don't have the money to buy, then we'll  certainly  miss out, and judging from this, I don't think it's wise teaching them or wanting to force it on them when we know that they can't afford it.

I will suggest that, rather than bore them with the history of bitcoin,  why not get a portfolio for them and keep investing in it and watch it grow with them and when they're of age, then you can practically  show them the needful.

I want to know if there are people who also share same opinion with me and please lets just discuss rather than argue

I think some of these threads relating to the introduction of kids to Bitcoin are for merit fishing and maybe some of them are looking for engagement and trolling around the forum, no serious person will want to put kids under the stress of Bitcoin, believe me when I say that Bitcoin is not for the kids because even adults find difficult in the early stage of their introduction to the bitcoin, I don't find it as amusing thing but the education is necessary for the kids.

Life is complex you know, I can remember back in elementary school when mathematics are introduced in its simplest form but as you graduate, they get harder and harder until you reach a level where they introduce complex algebraic and trigonometric, I think Bitcoin can be done in that way to give them the early nutrient of Bitcoin they need, all kids need education and the way the world is fast changing, it will be of good not to let your kids be illiterate of essential things.
1222  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges on: June 15, 2023, 05:57:09 PM
Hey, everyone   Smiley
I have recently started to be interested in the issue of cryptocurrency, please, tell me which exchanges are considered the safest and most convenient?

Crypto is dominated by centralized exchanges, recommending anyone of them for you is like putting you inside a tiger cage and locking the key because they cannot be trusted, one day you will lose access to your fund, and no one would pray for such kind of thing, look at Binance.US for example, the security exchange commission also known as SEC is considering confiscating users fund because they believe they are into some shady and insider deals, they believe Binance.US have violated their laws and as such, they are demanding the court to give them the order to seize the fund under Binance.US custody until all investigations are done, they are trying to seize users fund that belongs to customers which is a very bad move. It is always advisable you move your coins into self-custody for the safety of your funds and, lastly, never do KYC on any exchange, that's giving out your privacy to another company that cannot be trusted.
1223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife on wedding. on: June 15, 2023, 05:37:51 PM
Although I still studied, I invested a small amount in Bitcoin. I will get married if I get a good job. Many people give many things to their wives as wedding gifts, I have a different plan. I am planning to gift bitcoin to my wife on her wedding day. Bitcoin is still illegal in my country so I invested with caution. On my wedding day I want to gift half of my investment to my wife.
Should I gift bitcoin to my wife? I want your advice

Women are very emotional, will she be able to cope with the market volatility? Another question is that will she be able to handle losses and did she understand what bitcoin is all about? I assume you know that women want show off, they will tell their friends the surprises they had from their husband, they also like show off and want to make her friends, if you are buying her Bitcoin, I will advice you do in small quantity so she doesn't cry later that her investment has crash; Women will always be women and they can get emotional at slight time if she get to see that her yesterdy $10k has been reduced by value.
1224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stop gambling (sports betting, casino e.t.c)? on: June 14, 2023, 10:28:34 PM
You do not actually need to stop gambling since it's just for fun and entertainment for most people you could still occasionally gamble have bets etc, then maybe win or lose what so ever it wasn't really bad to gamble sometimes, you just need to put a limitation on it know when to stop, also have the discipline that you need in order to gamble responsibly.

In my opinion, it was just a matter of commitment, you could easily overpower your addict if you really want to, I just think that this addict let themself become a gambling addict, or should I say they were just greedy for winning and putting every time on luck gambling all of their money just to win. If you really want to get or have money if gambling really the way? It is not the way, right? this is just for lazy people, Players don't really see gambling as a way or shortcut to getting rich or a source of income.

Not every gambler can handle rejection and losses, some gamblers actually need to be stopped or stop on their own, I hope you know that when they say gambling is a probability of certainty, despite when some people used to win plenty of times and losses few, there are gamblers on the other end that win few and loss many, there is no how these people wouldn't be mad at some point if they continue playing with the hope that they will make it back some days, there are some players that can even go mad and do something extraordinary just as we have seen on this board of 22 years old student that committed suicide.
1225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: June 14, 2023, 10:01:19 PM
I pay enough attention to the strategy that is usually used by Pep Guardiola in every team he coaches, he always tries hard to encourage every player as much as possible to avoid incidents that could potentially become injured and that has proven effective because in the season that has passed, we have not seen the man city player seriously injured (different from other arsenal squad or EPL team)

I will say that most of the Manchester City players are mid and good and this is why many of them were able to avoid injuries, and they know how to play games without their opponent hitting them, the main players in the team know how to dodge bullets but even with their too carefulness, De Bruyne got injured at the end and couldn't play even half time in the Champions League, this is strategy helped them and I hope they can use the same tactics next season,

Quote
for now pep guardiola is the best coach in the world who is still active but the fight is not over and we cannot predict with certainty whether man icty will continue to be able to defend the UCL title in the following season.

In the world for Treble? I think he needs to win the world cup where players are not borrowed or bought with millions of dollars before you can say such, world cup doesn't need enough funding to lift this, its the raw talent and effort of individuals that win the world cup and those are the places we can praise players, teams and manager, not someone that can turn things around because of money invested.
1226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Committed Suicide After Losing School fees, And That Of Friend To Betting.. on: June 14, 2023, 09:41:59 PM
School fees or college fees? The article mentions that he is 22-years old. I would expect someone in his early 20s to act more maturely. But then I know a lot of people who have taken out loans from banks so that they can gamble. In the end, they lose whatever collateral they have provided and end up in penury. Some of the conservatives argue that these incidents are quite common and therefore gambling should be banned altogether. But I don't agree with their views either. If we ban gambling, then it will just push the industry undercover and victims of fraud and crime will be afraid to go to the police.

There has been a story similar to this but this look more suspicious, I have heard some addicted gamblers took a loan to gamble and it doesn't go as the plan they committed suicide, I have seen and heard addicted gambler use their parent's pension to gamble and when the game was lost, the parent died as a result of the panic and shock when they heard about the tragic loss, I have also seen a gambler but I can't say if he is addicted, the bettor used his school fees(master degree school fees) to bet, he tried to kill himself but was recovered after he was rushed to the hospital, but this guy committed suicide for small money, that is scary to believe for a 22 years old to do, there is more challenge to life he will come across and I wonder people in his peer group will do in future difficulties.
1227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: June 14, 2023, 09:29:18 PM
I think he has to brave out of PSG to improve his ability. If he stays in the Comfort zone, he will definitely not develop. He needs a league that has better competition. The level of the French league is still below the Spanish League, EPL. Actually, the decision to leave will certainly improve his ability. But I heard he will stay at PSG, so the possibility of him moving to Madrid is still just a rumour.
To improve his ability yes, he has to be brave to get out of the French 1 League. You're right because it's not very competitive at there, and PSG also have to sell him because it will benefit them, but the rumors are that Real madrid have already found a replacement for Benzema, if I'm not mistaken it's Joselu. He is a sharp and experienced striker although now at 33 years old, but his goalscoring ability is still very high. But that's also still a rumour, if Real Madrid gets him then there's a chance they can still be patient with Mbappe.

No way Mbape can play efficiently like the way Karim Benzema does, they both played center forward but Benzema is more suitable as a striker while Mbabe plays a good role of winger, the same position he played even in the world cup they could have been good imagination but Mbape decline Real Madrid to settle down with PSG where he is now been underrated because that dude is good with skills like speed, strength and chances converter, he is good and better than Vinicius in my opinion but that doesn't mean he can't play the role as well, Benzema was a winger to Ronaldo all through his career in Real Madrid and they switch place with Benzema when he left, Mbape might do the same but the chances os him leaving PSG will be after another season.
1228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: would you play more on casino when your country plans to ban BTC? on: June 14, 2023, 09:19:22 PM
while your country plans to ban crypto trading but online gambling legal, you'll gonna to decide what to do with coins.  would you go play your coins to accumulate or just withdraw and wait for the government to change stance?  no other option.

When the government bans crypto trading, it means they have forbidden anything that has to do with crypto, and doing it against their protocols and laws will rule in a fine, you just break the law and there is a fine for it. Have you asked yourself, how do you plan to sell the bitcoin you will accumulate after gaining more USD, or when the market pump, you will sell them to the market to get your cash as profit and you have just directly or indirectly made a trade.

I believe when the government ban crypto trading, the crypto used in gambling will become something they will tell casino to delist because they will pay tax and make yearly report on their financial revenue, they wouldn't dare mention it that they made revenue from crypto the government has ban and restricted to their country.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: $90,000 all in bet on: June 13, 2023, 01:42:47 PM
I have been able to turn $4,000 into $90,000 over the course of a week. Today, I am going all in on a bet I am very confident in.

FRANCE LEAGUE 2: GRENOBLE - GUINGAMP

UPDATE: A MISSED PENALTY AND A LOSS. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.

Jesus Christ! Did you just waste a fortune and a life-changing amount on a single bet Angry This is not bravery, this is not smartness, this is not a good decision, this is not a good strategy, whatever your intentions were, I will be frank with you on this one that this is a big mess up, there is nothing you will say that will justify this money you wasted, it would have been better if you had just put 1k to reduce the risk, now you are not with the initial amount of $4000 and the $90,000 you had in mind as greed didn't come as well. Just so you know, I removed the image you added to your OP I quoted, it wasn't necessary for the world to see, you should see it alone and swallow it yourself. Undecided Undecided
1230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: June 13, 2023, 01:14:40 PM
I join my voice with those saying it's too early to also say that it's rather too early to start discussing about the eufa champions league for the 2023/2024 season, there are no information of any kind about the game formation available yet, and neither is there any Information on when exactly the tournament will begin, so what exactly are we to be discussing about?

In the end, peeps are still going to continue discussing the happenings In the just concluded season, rather than topics relating to the coming season..

Even though the season is just about to end, i think everyone is already anticipating the 2023/2024 champions league. The way some clubs were playing at the end of this season scared everyone and made them wonder what will happen next in the upcoming campaign. Manchester City actually surprised everyone by winning three titles in a row, so let's see what the other teams can do in the season to come. Let's all wish for a better season next year as everything is just excitement. i don't even enjoy this season again since am also excited for the next season.

There is no way this thread wouldn't end up as spam. Many people don't give into the Champions League if the group stage hasn't been drawn for qualifying teams, this thread will just be a regular chunk of posts where users who don't have any clue about playoffs or anything prior to the group stage, and in addition, people will continue with the previous discussion of the Champions League, when there is nothing to say here again.

My opinion goes with what so many people have suggested, the thread should be locked, there are so many transfers going on right now, and those who feel they don't have things to do may consider those threads or look out for other threads that discuss other sports like Basketball, racing, and UFC.
1231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: June 13, 2023, 12:55:57 PM
Can you quit gambling if you make a life changing money and never go back to gambling?

I asked this because those who made some money through gambling near me always go back to gamble and they end up losing everything they once made through gambling.

Is it fine to say that people should not go back into gambling once they made high amount of money? Because the chance of losing that money again is very high, even if they don't use all the money to gamble at once, gambling can take it all back in time.

Have you ever won a high amount of money from gambling and managed to not lose them all back to gambling? And to date, you are still gambling?

I wouldn't quit but I will take a break and look into other aspects of life I could profit from, I would spread that money into other ventures to see the benefit I can have, I can't gamble all my entire life, you have to settle for another safe haven that have assurance of profit that will bring in money daily, weekly, monthly or yearly but you know, gambling is just a probability event that will profit you time to time base.

However, I have actually seen some gamblers or sports punters as they called them increased their wagers when they hit something big, they don't quit or take a break, they multiply their wagers and continue betting with the strategy they have been playing prior before that because they believe that the higher your wager and reasonable stake, the more payout you will likely make from gambling, though it comes with more risk if you were to lose the stake.
1232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stop gambling (sports betting, casino e.t.c)? on: June 13, 2023, 12:38:29 PM
Gambling brings so much joy especially when you're on the winning side, when things are all in your favor it just seems like you should never stop. But when it gets bad, you look for a way to pour out your anger, either on someone or on something.
When someone is addicted to gambling I feel it's worst than one who's addicted to drugs.

So much has been said about betting companies regarding how they should be responsible in helping those who are addicted to gambling, although is really hard to do so on there own path because gamblers can't be monitored.
I don't know if booking an appointment with a therapist would help or is something you as a gambler who wants out should do on your own.

The question is if you're a gambler or have someone who is, what's the best way to help out. And what's your story on escaping that addiction (gambling)...

How do you fight this battle?

Life is not as difficult as some claim, if I try something that requires money and it doesn't work, I will give in to trying another strategy; if that also doesn't work, I will quietly give up considering the implications for my health or my bank account. Those who are looking to use gambling as a way to get rich quickly are the only ones who get frustrated when their predictions don't match te results of their events, gambling doesn't have to become an addiction, but if it does, those who can't help themselves should seek help from a therapist, and those who feel they are losing more money than they are making should take a break, is as simple as that!
1233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigerian Father Rejects Son's Gambling Win on: June 13, 2023, 12:09:58 PM

Father must have money and can provide for his family. He Wouldn't act that way if they don't have enough. Or maybe the father is really a disciplinarian and wanted the boy to stop gambling as well.
That one hell of a disciplinarian the father must be. 38,000,000 naira is like 51,000 dollars if we convert that. Now that's a good some to start something good for almost anyone who hangs around betshops looking gor luck to escape the poor living condition in Nigeria and get some test of the good life as an average or middle class citizen.

I wonder who is this young man. Am sure betting is 18+which very much designates him for an adult and ought not to be living with the family. If he ain't sure if he should have been living with the family, this was a good sign to start living out and being his own person. I think that would be the case in the end.

Whatever reason the father had on his mind, that is not enough reason to reject the gift from his son, if the child has not given any of his family and relatives anything at all, they would have said he doesn't have the love for his family. Let's say Religion must have been the father's excuse in the first place, he should have accepted in public and explained to him in private the reason for his objection to the money, I don't see any reason the father should reject money at all.

@Bittraffic what do you think is more indiscipline by making fun of a child's success in the public, the amount is big enough to start something in his region and I believe if there is proper management, they will yield something from that money if it is well used, we should learn to call a spade a spade, this act is delusional and embarrassing, to be honest.
1234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is There A Time That You Calculated All Your loses In One Year on: June 11, 2023, 07:34:53 PM
Is There A Time That You Calculated All Your loses In One Year One Online and Offline

This is the most depressing thing to do, you'll be surprised at the amount,  I did this 4 years ago on offline number betting and Lottery I kept all the tickets I sometimes win 3rd and 4th prizes but every time I won consolation I increase my tickets I consider this a sign that I will hit the jackpot soon but unfortunately it never happens.

When I count all my losses on numbers and the lottery it's enough to buy a small parcel of a lot and build a bungalow type and we're just renting a room back then.

Again I did it 3 years ago when I become active in online casinos and the amount is also depressing I could have bought a tricycle that I can use for a living.

So I stopped counting my losses and just minimize my betting I just tried to be happy on the thought that I have good times betting and I enjoy the thrill.

If I want to go back and check the amount of loss I have accrued on gambling, it will be impossible because all my betting life has been on the Sportybet and as soon as I sight any lost ticket, I delete it from my bet history. I am doing that to let my mind of the losses I have had, there is no point in checking a prediction that didn't come as I want, I can't frowning face on the past, I do keep my profits though just to calculate and compare with the amount I deposited monthly, this helps me understand how much I have made and if I have been over betting, under betting or just wasting my hard earned monthly money.
1235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: June 11, 2023, 07:20:32 PM
In fact, Inter Milan was able to keep up with Mancheter City's game, and also succeeded in making it difficult for Manchester City to carry out attacks, especially in defense and also the pressure that Inter Milan put on Manchester City's players when their players got the ball. And Inter Milan also had six shots on target and several good chances, through Federico Dimarco and Romelu Lukaku but were less fortunate.
Manhesyer City finally managed to win the match thanks to Rodri's single goal in the 68th minute, and Rodri's single goal was enough to bring Man City to the Champions League title for the first time.

At a point, Guardiola wanted to collapse when all the defenders went to sleep and left the goalkeeper alone to fight Manchester City forward players, everyone was intense yesterday and I concluded that in the final moment, even the toughest team is always careful and mindful of mistakes. Inter are very known for mindful games and that was what they played against Manchester City yesterday, and they fell for it which lead to their poor defensive formation against pressure from Inter.

Haaland was not having many opportunities when De Bruyne became substituted, thanks to their star Rodri saved them yesterday, it would have been another form of celebration yesterday, but nevertheless, the match was interesting and it will ease Manchester City to brag about UCL but they still have 13 more to go in other to feel among space of Real Madrid, that is a long journey by the way, assuming they will continue in this sequence, it will take them another 14 years which is not never a realistic dream to discuss in the first place.
1236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Self custody will always win on: June 08, 2023, 09:20:18 PM
He can one day decide to go greedy, Bitcoin was created to be under no man's control or power, we should start using Bitcoin the right way.

I pity users that support and like CZ tweets anytime that nigga makes a tweet but I understand that it is not their fault, most of them had a poor orientation of crypto. If you profile most of them, they either get to know Bitcoin through a friend that is not well educated about Bitcoin or know Bitcoin through Binance since the Binance trading platform dominates everywhere, they don't have a basic orientation about privacy and security, they don't know when and how to used custodian wallet and decentralized exchanges and the worse of this is that when you try to engage them about their flaws, they will come for your head, they are too deep to be corrected but maybe with time, some of them will learn it the hard way or the soft way.
1237  Economy / Economics / Re: 3x inflation in my life time (Im 30) does bitcoin fix this? on: June 08, 2023, 08:37:20 PM
A pizza now cost a full days wages when I first started working.  We need to hang the politicians and central bankers.

Min wage was $5.50 when I started it is $16.50 now.

In 15 years we have inflated 3x.

In another 15 years a pizza will cost $100.

how does bitcoin fix this?

inb4 some idiot mentions the bitcoin pizza and does not realize the price of that pizza still went up as well.

I know right! Poor humans that are controlled by hooligan's democratic system of government policy, the poor, and inflation are inseparable because there is never in history that inflation has ever taken a rest, it always goes up every day, and yet the government keeps printing the same paper every day without thinking of another solution that will eliminate inflation, the only thing they want to understand is cash without any alternatives; why create a value when it doesn't have anything that backs it.  Undecided

It is not an assurance but in 3 years to come, Bitcoin will triple after halving if we are to predict how the cycle has always been after the halving and that is why it is always the best to put your money in Bitcoin, it may not be all to mitigate the risk of fall but always have some of your assets in Bitcoin, it is the best assets out there that has beaten inflation over the years.
1238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I was shocked that my Neighbor also used bitcoin as mode of payment on: June 08, 2023, 07:36:56 PM
I just want to share something here, because I have a neighbor here who has a small store called Sari-Sari store, whose goods are, can goods, coconut, wine, candies, soft drinks, soy sauce, and so on. I was just surprised when I was going to buy from his store, there was a poster that said "We accept Bitcoin" as payment, I smiled at this neighbor of mine.

I asked him what motivated him to do this, and although it's good that he did it, Then who will be the customer who will use Bitcoin to pay for his goods? His answer to me was me, I laughed even more and was happy with his answer. Because apart from me, even his children, when buying their goods, he will also teach them to pay with Bitcoin. You're doing a good job, teaching your children and awareness about Bitcoin, keep doing it and I'll support you in that matter.

And his answer to me is that his cousin is doing bitcoin trade and he mentioned to him that bitcoin is his cousin's primary source of income, and he also advised him that bitcoin can be used as an option for payment for his goods. , and also taught him how to do it.

It's funny because at least I'm not alone in our place anymore, and I also told my neighbor that if he wants to ask a question, He can ask me anytime.

Any well-being and disciplined entrepreneur will do anything to make payment easy for his customers because when you rely on a single mode of payment, you will lose customers sometimes because they can have technical problems sometimes, it is always best when you provide customers with different choices of payment, it will even give them this confidence of having a successful deal with you as a seller. I think the last time I Learned Master Card block p$^nhub from using their platform to receive payment and ever since then, they have added different types of crypto payment for viewers who wish to go premium, it's part of the development we all want with Bitcoin.
1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are physical exchanges in your neighborhood. on: June 08, 2023, 06:58:50 PM
~Do you think those dealers are safe?
~And what's the fate  of physical  cryptocurrency exchanges(r) in your country?

Let's  discuss

Operating a physical business that accepts Bitcoin carries certain risks, but it also has its advantages, particularly in promoting the concept of Bitcoin as a legitimate form of currency. To mitigate these risks, it is advisable to set up the business(physical exchange) in a location that is visible to the public, preferably in a busy area where potential assistance from bystanders is readily available in case of harassment or attempted theft of Bitcoin.

On the other hand, there are individuals and businesses that conduct their operations by accepting digital transfers and fiat currency through inter or intra-bank transactions and they are very okay, and when you consider the security features with Bitcoin, Bitcoin has a big merit because, with Bitcoin, the highest level of security lies in the possession of your private key, without this key, it is virtually impossible for anyone to access your wallet. In contrast, many bank applications only require a PIN to initiate a transfer, which may not provide the same level of security as Bitcoin's private key.

Why don't do both. That's an awesome thing when hobby and making money are the same thing.
Most hobbies suppose spending and least time, but in many cases money too, but in our case, although we spend time here, we have the opportunity not to only gain knowledge but to earn some money too. And this is not so typical.
But you are aware that when you acquire the knowledge first, it will be easier for you to make money, with the information we acquire here is what will give us the insight of making money, I'm just capitalising to whom that introduced people here, because I believe if the information they processed to their brothers and lovely ones is to go and make money in bitcointalk, without signatures campaign many people will be offline in bitcointalk, let their interest first be in having the knowledge of bitcoin at hand not to immediately earn money, that's my point

Who exactly says so? There are people within this forum who contribute minimally, with just a few posts per day, yet still manage to earn money. These individuals primarily focus on the service board, offering their skills and expertise to earn income. For instance, there are members who specialize in Photoshop and art design, creating Telegram stickers and generating income from them. They are so occupied with their work that they don't have time to promote themselves in forum discussions.
