1221  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin volatility actually GOOD for business! (with proof) on: May 07, 2014, 12:27:11 AM
This sounds great in theory, but it only works for businesses with enough cash on hand that they can pick and choose when to cash out their bitcoins.  There a lot of businesses that this approach wouldn't work for: coffee shops, for example, probably operate on fairly thin margins.  Maybe corporate chains aren't as bad if they're partially supported by the parent company, but that's not guaranteed to be how it works.

If you're in a business with a fairly tight profit margin and you need to make payroll in a few days or a week, you may be forced to sell off bitcoins at a loss.  A prime example of this would be the last few weeks of December last year: the price of bitcoins dropped from the high in the thousands down several hundred dollars in a matter of weeks.  No business that really wants to stay in business wants to take the chance that they will suddenly have half as much money as they previously had.

Even now in 2014, your post is invalidated by the fact that the price of bitcoins continues to drop.  It was around $600 a couple months ago, maybe more.  Now it's $438.20, according to Bitstamp.  The volatility of bitcoins is good for only two groups of bitcoin users: investors willing to buy and hold for a long period of time, and day traders.  Day traders can profit off volatility regardless of which direction the price goes, so the volatility is great for them.  As for the investors - well, if you bought bitcoins say, in January of last year, you're still way better off despite the lower price since the beginning of the year since it was around $13 back then.

if they have good credit then can get advance cash through a merchant program, I heard they give you cash in trade for your transactions but who knows by doing that it can really cut into the profits.
1222  Other / Off-topic / Re: Feelings after being Bullied on: May 07, 2014, 12:23:53 AM
It started back in middle school. I used to get bullied alot by a group of "popular" kids. They would tease me about what I wore, how I acted, how I looked, etc etc. Getting called nicknames etc. I only had a few "friends" that I would talk to regularly. This lasted my entire middle school period.

Then I went to highschool, and I would get told I looked so "old", most people wouldn't talk to me, I had a few friends though who I would talk to sometimes, but never express my true self/always hide myself, because I was afraid they would also eventually think I was "old" and stop talking to me. I eventually started wearing makeup to cover up myself, the makeup obviously drew attention, and girls all of a sudden liked me, and guys wanted to be my friend. However, I used very thick makeup because I thought thinner ones wouldn't hide flaws on my face, I also started to put on eyeliner at that time, and that really got me weird looks as people thought I looked girlish with eyeliner And foundation. My mom had me do therapy, I went to 2 different therapists in total. My mom also found out I wore makeup, and was objective at first, but then I told her all that happened to me and bullied/looking old etc etc, and she allowed me to wear it for a while. That was until the rest of my family intervened, and eventually I stopped wearing foundation.

I left that school(the first highschool) I was going to, and stayed a few months out of school, then got transferred into another small school, I also was very very scared of what people would think etc. Even there I had some people talk behind me back and give me weird looks etc. I didn't trust anyone and went through immense stress. I started wearing eyeliner and believe it or not, lipgloss and blush, all to try and increase my physical attraction. For a time I thought I was attractive with those on, especially since girls would say I was "hot" etc.
_______________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________

That all happened last year, fast forward one year, and I'm still feeling horribly insecure and because of past bullying, I also have this "fake superiority" complex, so if a girl looks at me as if she's attracted, I immediately ignore her, as I think once she gets to know me and starts talking to me, she'll not be attracted to me anymore. I made up my mind before to only get close to women in particular if they express a huge desire to be with me, aka they "obsess" over me, at least that shows they care and won't just leave me out of nowhere, other than that I don't show women any outward desire to want them or be with them, even though I do want to inside.

This year, I also found Bitcoin, and it helped me develop new ideals and goals in life such as making Bitcoin sites and getting involved with trading cryptocurrencies. I'm happy to say, if it weren't for Bitcoin, I wouldn't know what I'd be doing right now.

Thanks Satoshi Nakamoto.

I am glad you found bitcoin and it gave you a great outlook on things, We all have out insecurities, mine is my big ears.  So Thank god bitcoin help you grew out of the phase you was going through.  Keep your head up and I hope you much success with bitcoin.

Funny comic, thanks op for posting that I will share it with freinds later.  Who is the creator of the comic?
1224  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: May 07, 2014, 12:12:27 AM
I personally think btc will grow or multiply or whatever for next 10-30 years and then stop, because there's going to be too much people using them. Many people doesn't mean stability.

And also even now there are places which count btc in mBtc. As i see it in next few years 1 btc will be A LOT OF money, but we won't be counting it like that, we will count it in micro/nano btc.

Thinking of bitcoins as of easy-money is noncense in my opinion by the way or you will need many btc to be stabile and rich (gold for example).

We need people to buy with bitcoin, right now we have to many holders and to many traders in the bitcoin population, if we can get more people interesting using it as another currency then rather treating a product of greed then value can probably climb faster.
1225  Other / Off-topic / Re: Saving private key in MS Word on: May 06, 2014, 06:17:08 PM
why dont u create a cold wallet with a external hard drive but make sure you use linux to do so, as your Pc can be already compromised with malware.  This is the best way I know I can think of keeping your btc secured.
1226  Other / Politics & Society / Re: National Russian card payment system established on: May 06, 2014, 06:13:00 PM
http://rt.com/business/156912-russian-putin-card-payment

Not related to Bitcoin, but this move is a very serious blow to the Master / Visa. The American credit card companies will lose billions of $$$ in revenue from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

National Russian card payment system established

Quote
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law the establishment of a national Russian card payment system on Monday. The NSPK (National Card Payment) system will ensure the smooth operation of electronic payments across Russia. Both Visa and MasterCard blocked specific US-sanctioned Russian banks from using their payment systems in March amid the crisis in Ukraine, prompting sharp criticism for blocking bank operations.

Russia had to choose this over bitcoin, I guess they fear it so bad, they decided to make there own system.  Well is to bad cause its only gonna benefit but hes clearly not thinking about his people. must be alot of money involved in this
1227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is China silently conquering Africa? on: May 06, 2014, 06:05:06 PM
china has too many problems to conquer the world. their economy is starting to sputter. they are currently running it into the ground by expanding real estate at an untenable rate. i don't know the politics of it, but i doubt it's simple.

besides that, china has a history of conquering neighboring lands for natural resources. it's currently in contention with practically every asian country (including india). it also deposed/conquered the tibetan government for natural resources.

Really China economy is starting to spurtter.  There wages are much better then ones of lower class countries. There wage is above 600 USD in some parts ofthere country.  Two months ago they went into a european country to start a  relationship with them so they can probably open more factories.  I dont think there economy is that bad you think it is.
1228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lets sponsorhip something cool! on: May 06, 2014, 05:58:26 PM
Dogecoin got amazing amount of publicity out of their sochi and later nascar sponshorship. Why we haven't done anything like that, ever? We should have much more money anyway?
If you are up for it please give an idea what we could sponsor, something that we can get max publicity. And we will take it from there.

Bitcoin was accepted as a part of project mars-one. Richard Branson said Virgin Galactic will accept bitcoin for space trip. So, what Doge achieved through sponsorship came to Bitcoin as natural. Bitcoin needs mass adoption, that wont come from a super bowl ad. It requires social media. May be this has something to do with that => https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=594290.0

Maybe we can get bitcoin sponsored and put in on the side of the first Virgin Galactic shuttle. Now that would be awesome.
I dont dont like it unless there is gonna be masses of people viewing on television.  Not everyone watches space launches but everyone does watch the superbowl.  The Olympics would have been good also for sponsorship.

1229  Other / Politics & Society / Re: our USA education system sucks and is obsolete on: May 06, 2014, 05:04:28 PM
arts are great as part of the overall education but a theater degree is just going to make sure you are deep in debt and working at starbucks for the rest of your life .It makes me sad to optically discern so many people put down the arts and inspirit people to get a "real degree" or something like that
arts are great as part of the overall education but a theater degree is just going to finalize thar you are in deep in debt and working as a waiter or waitress for the rest of your life .
1230  Other / Politics & Society / Re: our USA education system sucks and is obsolete on: May 06, 2014, 04:03:14 PM
This guy is brilliant, I haven't seen his videos for awhile, the thing is though, speaking as somebody who is studying Art and Jewellery, if you're purely after a job you won't necessarily be able to do well, especially if you go for a degree precisely because of what he's talking about. That said, I think Education is getting so bad now all you're going to have to do to get a masters degree is write several essays on whatever subject you pick ( no matter how vocational the subject is ) and this will mean that no young people will have the skills to produce and make things in their respective countries anymore.

I'm also glad to see that I'm not alone in my suspicions about ADHD, I think it's not only a case of the system itself being at fault, I'm convinced going back on my own education that teachers use ADHD or mental illness as an excuse to cover up how badly they teach. In a couple of my previous schools I ended up in those kind of catchup/'special' classes etc. ( Yes, feel free to laugh ) where they were pretty much assuming because I wasn't doing all the work and had trouble with basic mathematics I must have something wrong with me, but really all it was was that there were massive gaps in my education like being unable to do percentages or take tests because nobody had simply taken the time to explain it all to me.

Western education is a piece of shit, so it's no surprise seeing the data come out finally proving it later on.

Its not only the teachers fault but is also the parents fault for not fighting against a false system.  when I was 14 years old I was placed in a resouce room just because I coudnt grasp as fast as others can.  The real truth about me bieng placed in there is cause I couldnt see the black board so I would have to squint but still coulndt make out what the teacher was explaining on the board and instead of the teachers seeing that and getting me to see a doctor, they instead thought I was a slow learner, then I was in resource room which only made things worst for me because I felt like a dumb outcast.
1231  Other / Meta / Re: Difference between "Watch" and "Notify" ? on: May 06, 2014, 02:43:36 PM
I beleive notify will send you notifications to your email address that they were a repsonse to this topic or subject in the matter.  I havent try it yet but, why dont you experiment and see if I was right about that function. Watch is just to be on the threads your are watching and has no notifcation.
1232  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Invoice in Bitcoin - How to Agree on Exchange Rate? on: May 06, 2014, 02:41:18 PM
I have a business where I issue an invoice in the beginning of the month which is due on the 20th day.
I'd like to add an option to pay in bitcoin.

Here's the problem. If I use the exchange rate to EUR at the beginning of the month, the customer can choose bitcoin if the price falls. If the price increases he'd better stick to EUR.

How may I solve this problem?

hmm maybe a timer which will give them about 15 minutes to pay the invoice, so that you will be protected from price drops and you wont lose profit.  I seen a few websites with this kind of software espeically the ones that sell hosting and domains.  Im sure someone can point you in the direction for that software or script.  if not then you can hire a freelancer to make one for you.

ahh I see, thank you for clarfying it, I was saying I was reading in the meta section today about people getting banned just for posting low qaulity content or posting to fast?  I didnt wanna get banned so can please someone take a look at my todays post and let me know if I am posting bad so I wont get banned also, thank you

It's usually a mixture of both low quality and posting very fast. It's hard to say what each individual mod may define as spam, but your posts seem fine since you've joined up to this deal. In fact, they seem to have actually improved compared to the ones prior, so keep up that content and don't post a load of short responses in off-topic and I'm sure you'll be okay.

ok good to know, I see you post in the off topic alot, but I think is because you use more then one line am I right and they are on topic of your response right?   So im seeing that I should use the quote function like you do and I will be fine also correct?  Im sorry but im new to the sig and if im gonna get banned I rather leave the sig campaign then risk my account.

1235  Other / Off-topic / Re: Mobile phones you ever used on: May 06, 2014, 01:50:11 PM
It was my first ever Mobile Phone:

Then I used:

And now I use:

I kind of would like to get a simple phone like the one on top. Something that I can use simply to make phone calls. I craving a little less technology now.

My relative has that nokia phone, the old models are for some reason are more tougher and stronger then the new model phones, even though they do lack the same functions, I still prefer old cell phones then ones that are out today.
1236  Economy / Lending / Re: Need .05 btc loan for injury, need soon! on: May 06, 2014, 01:44:00 PM
These scammers took away the honesty in men.  If there are people that really need help out there, we wont know who to really trust, Im new coming to this section but I see alot of begging going on with all these emergencies, you guys get this alot in this part of the thread I bet.  I wont be surprise we will acutally seeing people fake the hosptial beds posting there user name with pics on them.  Or they will probably go to the hospital and fake it then take a picture.
1237  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: May 06, 2014, 01:37:35 PM
I have a question I been reading these past days, where are we allowed to post constructive posts?  I heard of people making complaints against sig members and thinking of leaving the campaign because of it.
1238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: gambling the biggest risk for bitcoin businesses on: May 06, 2014, 01:29:19 PM
restrictions on online gambling is almost completely unenforceable now with TOR and bitcoin.
It is very easy for the individual to side step the regulations.

yes is true since we now have services that can launder bitcoins or we can simply sell them peer to peer, not sure how the regulations be able to trace every single bitcoin holder or trader and business thats involved in the bitocoin gambling scene
1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin just a stepping stone to something better? on: May 06, 2014, 01:16:39 PM
Bitcoin might get successor at some point but definitely it wont get thrown away. I expect it would rather be slow evolution then sudden revolution.

When it comes to technology when something get outdated it is never forgotten. Everyday nowadays devices uses same cheeps that were used by old computers. Nothing get wasted. Bitcoin might be value determine in future, just as we use dollar right now.

I know this might not be the same comparison but remeber yahoo was one of the most popular search engines before google stepped in and look how fast they gotten to the top just by implementing a new concept to the search engine.  I thought yahoo was going to be on the top and it never did happen, now yahoo is on there knees.
1240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Check Out These Bitcoin Twins!!!! on: May 06, 2014, 02:11:03 AM
I wrote the script and paid them. Yes I can confirm they do accept Bitcoin Wink

I've been working hard on this. So I really hope you guys will get behind me and support this.

As I stated in video description
Quote
The Bitcoin community recently got an open invitation from the Spreadshirt CEO Philip Rooke that if enough customers request Bitcoin that will grant the request.

"I receive hundreds of requests a month from consumers and our ecommerce platform sellers wanting Amazon checkout and payment. We have yet to have one for Bitcoin. If Bitcoin is not mass market then it will be of little use to ecommerce retailers and platforms. The internet is a funny place however, where new ideas do catch on. My job therefore is to try and cover as many of our customers' needs as possible, so if enough people want to use either Bitcoin we will adapt and find ways of taking payments!"

If you are unfamiliar with Spreadshirt they are an international online retailer operating in 17 countries with over 72,000 sellers. In 2013 Spreadshirt had sales of over $95M globally with orders from 200 countries.

If we are successful in completing the petition not only will it attract media attention and increase sentiment for Bitcoin. I'm sure their rivals Cafepress, Zazzle, Redbubble, Design By Humans, Threadless will all stand up and take note.

With the recent announcement from Amazon, that they will not be adding Bitcoin payment functionality. I hope I can rely on the Bitcoin communities support to help encourage more retailers to join the Bitcoin revolution to increase exposure and add to the Bitcoin eco-system.

Spreadshirt and its customers can only benefit from Bitcoin: it is a win-win situation.

I would be most grateful for your support.

As Satoshi Nakamoto would say "strength in numbers"
