Great read. Hate to say it but he's probably mostly right.

I especially agree with this:

Quote
Bitcoin’s success should be measured not by the current value or exchange rate vis-a-vis the dollar or others, but rather by the growth in the real economy. That means businesses being able to transact easily in bitcoins, people being able to execute everyday transactions, institutions accepting it as a valid form of exchange, and so on.
12303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when is perfect time for selling??? on: April 13, 2014, 09:53:56 AM
wait for another balloon, like one when price went up over $1000 very fast, $50+ per day rise for couple of days...sell then

I suspect many people are waiting for this balloon. Was there any know causes for that last sudden massive price hike?
12304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when is perfect time for selling??? on: April 13, 2014, 09:08:27 AM
Any good tips to know what coin is a good one and which one is a 'crapcoin'.

Pretty much any alt coin that comes out now will just be a pump and dump crapcoin. If it's just a clone of another and has a stupid name or gimmick attached to it then it's a crapcoin. Also avoid pre-mined coins because those are scamcoins as well as crapcoins  Cheesy.
12305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when is perfect time for selling??? on: April 13, 2014, 09:04:30 AM
so what you guys think about btc price?
do you think this will rise again?
i believe if btc price rises, other will rise as well

Yes, it will likely rise and then fall and probably shoot up at some point then rinse and repeat the whole process. A lot of alt coins do seem to rise along with it as well, but don't hold your breath for a lot of the crapcoins.
12306  Other / Meta / Re: How can we (Bitcointalk) improve this forum ??? (This is 2 help further BTCoin) on: April 13, 2014, 09:01:52 AM
Start a new forum with different admins?

Everyone is free to do that, in fact I think some already have. If this forum is run as badly as a lot of people keep making out then a new, better forum could quickly arise and dominate.

Not as easy or simplistic as that.

And that's why this one dominates and is still used, but if a forum is created that is better than this one in every way then why would people not switch over? All somebody needs to do is create a Facebook to this MySpace and you'll be laughing.

This one dominates as it was here first that is only reason it will continue to dominate.

See my Facebook vs MySpace comparison. It won't happen overnight but if this forum is as terrible as people seem to make out and a new far superior one comes along it'll soon take over.

What would be required is for key community members to back that then people would move.

Who are the key members? I think some of the older members have moved on to newer pastures from what I've gathered.

Will you update the prices for april with new current rate for btc/usd?

As in raise payments? I doubt it he's already the highest paying and its free money. Plus his business is in BTC so although its true that people may risk less he's still making his money in BTC not USD. Plus what if he changed the rates and BTC price soared? Would you accept a drop in payments?

Very well said Dreamspark. Also laflaflaf is a newbie and we do not accept newbies.
However laflaflaf you can join our 25% affiliate program.

What about if PrimeDice up their rates? Will you up them then?  Cheesy

And I'm sure BTC will be on its way up again soon. Just hodl if you're not happy with the price.

We will always have the best paying signature program. Period.

Interesting. I wonder if Stunna shares that ideal too? Could get even more interesting  Cheesy.
we pay the most. It is a known fact. A dice game vs a casino? No rocket science required to know who can afford to fight and who cannot.

Well not necessarily. PrimeDice have been running quite a while and have a big community, plus you have no idea of their holdings or advertising budget and they won't of yours. When was your casino first established?
12308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: when is perfect time for selling??? on: April 13, 2014, 08:51:21 AM
Sorry to say but if you've mined a lot of crapcoins they've probably already been pumped and dumped and are unlikely to recover much if at all. All you can do is wait for the price to rise and sell, but nobody can tell you when this time will come.

What does that guy mean ?  Huh

It's like people giving you stolen cash to pay for products?

Yeah, I think he just means if someone hacks somebodies wallet or scans them then he ends up buying the coins somewhere down the line.

12312  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-11] Megaupload founder wants official cryptocurrency on: April 13, 2014, 08:15:25 AM
And he's vigorously fighting that extradition and I hope he wins. I also disagree that he's a nobody. He might not be an international celeb but he seems to be fighting for all the right causes and isn't afraid to stand up and voice his opinion, especially against the mighty USG. They're not a nice enemy to have especially when they've got a grudge behind them.

I don't think that he is a nice guy. He profited quite a lot from Megaupload and he still have most of his $250 million net worth untouched by the authorities. On the other hand, he scammed a large number of affiliates by promising them generous payouts for attracting premium memberships. Very few of them received any money.

I never said he was a nice guy, but he doesn't seem especially nefarious either, and I don't see how much he made from Megaupload is an issue (unless you're the USG).
12313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: FAKE or STOLEN Bitcoins on: April 13, 2014, 08:09:06 AM
Is it possible for someone to give me fake or stolen bitcoins?

How long do I wait to make sure a BTC is "legit" and truly mine?

You just need to wait until the Bitcoins are fully confirmed. Then they're yours to spend or keep as long as you want. And yes, somebody could send you stolen Bitcoins, but there's probably some fiat coins or notes in your physical wallet right now that have been stolen or got 'dirty' somewhere down the line.

12315  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: April 13, 2014, 07:04:31 AM
Can we have the payouts now, before China drops another bad bombshell at the BTC price? xD
Just kidding.

And then some other bad news or even slight rumour will come along and the same thing will happen. Blame panic sellers.

Bitcoin's gone down to 390$...there won't be updated rates till end of the mont will they be? I really needed 50 euros on top this month.
You living on this?Or you need 50 euros to do something?
But 50 euros is really a small number.

You should lend him it then if he still needs it Wink. He might not be living on BTC, but sometimes people struggle for money now and again for whatever reason or maybe he was just banking on Bitcoin being worth as much as it was at the beginning of the month or whatever.
12316  Other / Meta / Re: Love The Forum But on: April 13, 2014, 06:59:46 AM
Do you have some examples of these posts? I have been on a couple of forums where the nasty and condescending elite have ruined it for everyone else and scared away most of the newbs, but there's nothing you can really do about that so I think all you can do is grow a tougher skin and bare it for a bit. There are plenty of people who will answer your questions but there's also always going to be people who will find a reason to give you shit too. Welcome to the Internet / the real world  Cheesy.
12317  Other / Meta / Re: The "delete" button should leave a stub behind on: April 13, 2014, 06:52:36 AM
I agree with your points, especially for self moderated threads so that there is a record of how many posts that have been deleted.  The counter argument is that the 'hard-delete' is required to clean up threads full of spam, scam or trolling posts.

My preference would be that deleted posts are just hidden and users have an option within each thread to show 'deleted' posts.  Moderators would have the option to remove the content of the post and replace it with the reason it was deleted, i.e. "Post deleted by: theymos, reason: spam".  However this could leave some thread pages with only a few visible posts when a lot of posts are hidden.

I think having an option to see how many or 'unhide' deleted posts by the operator of a self-moderated thread is a good idea, but maybe not in others where you have chosen to personally delete a post for whatever reason.

I like ops suggestion too.
12318  Other / Meta / Re: WHY A 360 SECOND DELAY??? on: April 13, 2014, 06:45:45 AM
Just to confirm this only happens with newbie accounts right? I don't seem to have the problem

Newbies only get the 360 delay, but it decreases with the more activity you get. I think Full Members is ten seconds or something, but you're unlikely to notice it unless you can write another post in that amount of time.

i get 360 second without even posting for the whole day.

sometimes i get this
You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh.

Log-ins and attempted posts count and reset the clock. You need to wait the full six minutes after you log in or post.

I like how no one voted for IE, they're either too ashamed or they realize it blows....

Haha. I never realised how much it sucks till I tried Firefox. Whenever I use someone's comp that has it installed I'm quickly reminded though.
