12321  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Anyone have a good terrent site invite? on: April 12, 2014, 09:56:07 PM
I've got some for IP torrents if you're interested.
12322  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Want to sell my bitcoins monthly , will accept escrow on: April 12, 2014, 09:51:31 PM
This should be in currency exchange. You can move it there at bottom left. You planning on selling your PD earnings? Haha. How much you planning on selling per month?

I am looking to sell my bitcoins month for the bitstamp rate and I can put it escrow or send it to you first, but must be a trusted member for this offer.  I will take bank transfer and cover the wire fee.  If anyone is interested please let me know.

may I ask why dont you sell them via bitstamp directly ? Smiley
.

Might not want the faff of having to deal with them and providing all the documentation etc, but there's often many reasons people don't want or like using exchanges.
12323  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-12] Bank of China Governor Says Banning Bitcoin is Out of the Question on: April 12, 2014, 09:29:41 PM
Quote
Bitcoin is more a kind of tradable and collectible asset, such as stamps rather than a payment currency
.

I don't really understand how they can say that. Just because it isn't issued by a central bank doesn't make it less valid as a currency or payment medium. If people are using it to buy and sell things, then it's a currency. And I think stamps are considered legal tender in some places.
12324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel Prize in Economics on: April 12, 2014, 09:24:30 PM
Award Satoshi the Nobel Prize in economics, that 'll flush him out!  Tongue

If he wins the Nobel prize in economics, he would be in the same club as Paul Krugman.

If you expand to the grand Nobel prize club of all different categories, you get an even worse list:
Yasser Arafat
Barack Obama
Al Gore
European Union

Obviously the Nobel prize has lost all its credibility.

But Milton Friedman won the economics prize in 1976 so giving it to Satoshi could be move to save the destroyed brand of the Nobel prizes.

Just look at some of the other nominees too. Vlad Putin was nominated last year I think. What a joke.
12325  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D printing is overrated? on: April 12, 2014, 09:22:13 PM
3D printing is not over-rated but quite expensive.

Isn't all new technology? It'll quickly get cheaper.
I hope it gets cheaper.

It's inevitable. Happens with everything. Just look at how much dvd and Bly ray players were (or any new technology) and now look how much they are. I'm sure they will become as popular as regular printers within a decade.

Another day in paradise - phil collins.. Cheesy

Love a bit of Phil Collins. Can't go wrong with his greatest hits. Genesis was great too.

Listening to Frances the Mute album for the first time in years. Trippy videos from the record:

The Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez: http://youtu.be/JphZtpafdKY

The Mars Volta - The Widow: http://youtu.be/VUBQLnEGHNk

Just watched Jack Reacher. Quite enjoyed it, but Tom Cruise was pretty much just in his Tom Cruise / Ethan Hunt Mission Impossible character but a bit more kick ass and wittier. Laughed a few times at the running joke of him stealing cars (at least I think it was a running joke haha). Looking forward to the sequel now.
12328  Other / Off-topic / Re: A reply to Ms Pretty on: April 12, 2014, 08:52:52 PM
It's a sad state of affairs when people see these sorts of stories and instantly believe they're true. I see the like (and much worse) being shared on Facebook by plebs operating under the assumption that they're true.

It's not true? After all, it was posted on social media - therefore it must be true! It's even safer than the papers, as it's run by the people!

Haha. Well 99.9% of the time they're bullshit. It's the racist shit that baffles / annoys me in equal measure the most. "Omg Muslims are trying to get us banned from our own country" source: some militant racist guy's obscure blog quoting something his mate told him down the pub Cheesy.

Much of the social media is very fast paced, and there's little fact checking. I think the intelligent observer is able to draw his own conclusions, and although a lot is fake, stories like the one in this thread can be rather amusing. :p

I agree, it's not always racist or exonophobic rabble, but most of the stories shared are often amusing or you can at least derive some amusement from people's stupidity and gullibility of what they easily and readily believe  Cheesy.

After reading that, I have gained the utmost respect for the J.P. Morgan CEO, very nice reply. He's telling her that money and looks aren't everything. Very very good reply.

You've gained respect for the fictional CEO?  Grin

12331  Other / Meta / Re: Bring back the newbie jail on: April 12, 2014, 08:25:07 PM
Overreact much to someone's opinion? I'm not going to go through your post history. I don't care at all. I made a comment based on what I have seen in the marketplace. Derailing posts is considered padding post counts. Creating arguments that have no relation to the board is padding your post count. Keep living on this board to make your promo funds.

How should I respond to people's lies against me? You obviously cared enough to make an untrue comment based off something you just made up on a whim so I'll respond when someone posts utter unbacked BS or baits me into commenting like you did and continue to do. Your claim that I always post in there is bollocks (as well as irrelevant). It shouldn't be hard to find some since I apparently always post in there and you apparently 'follow' my posts. And I didn't purposely derail anything or create an argument, but you're accusing me of something you've just done and continue to do now. You keep living on this forum to get your funds whilst getting paid to bump your threads as well. Such a hypocrite. Feel free to PM me if you wish to discuss this further or if you come across any of my many allegedly 'vague and empty' posts so neither of us can be accused of padding our counts any further.

Anyway, back on topic:

Maybe alter newbie jail to only allow posting on some boards such as alternate crypto and beginners but keep them out of marketplace and bitcoin discussion

Good idea. I and others have suggested this before, but as per the previous discussion with Lauda it probably won't get implemented, although maybe one day we'll be surprised.
12332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on BBC 24 news channel now on: April 12, 2014, 07:24:12 PM
Just turned on the BBC News Channel (freeview channel 80 in the UK) & they're doing a segment about bitcoin. More coverage = good news Smiley

Depends how they cover it...

you know what they say, even bad advertisement is advertisement Cheesy

Not necessarily if they keep slandering it by mentioning it alongside drugs, child porn, ponzis and scams etc. There has been some pretty decent and unbiased coverage on the BBC though.
12333  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Goats are out of the pen. Where do we get our milk from now? on: April 12, 2014, 07:09:02 PM
Most of those bitcoin millionaires only come here to brag.
believe me the one who are wise don't brag..!

Well, a truly wise or meek man wouldn't, but I think it'd be hard not to if we were in the situation where we became pretty rich off such an investment. I wonder if we'll ever be tested?  Cheesy
haha maybe after 10years. :p but if i become financially  successful i'll goto some secluded place and build a house of my dreams there and will live my life  happy after :p

Yeah, until you meet a woman and boast to her about all your self-made riches in an attempt to woo her and boom there goes your money and meekness  Grin.

Ain't that the truth! My first wife took me for half a house and half my cash, second wife took me for half a house and half my cash and now I rent my house and use Bitcoin. LOL

Haha. That's why I'd never marry. Hollow and pointless institution anyway.
12334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel Prize in Economics on: April 12, 2014, 03:52:39 PM
After Obama and the EU won Nobel prizes it lost all credibility with me.

Yeah, but that was the peace prize which has become a bit of a joke really. Other categories tend to hold more esteem, but it's just an award show really and means about as much as the Oscars do.
12335  Other / Off-topic / Re: South Park on: April 12, 2014, 03:44:00 PM
might be it..

as we grow older we get more serious, less stuff seems as funny as it used to be..

I must admit I do appreciate Parker & Stone's parody and political satire based episodes/stuff more now, but I can still appreciate silly humour and don't take myself that seriously. Hopefully SP will bounce back for me with the next season.

"Midgets piss me off". That was a good episode. NAMBLA: North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes  Grin.
12336  Other / Meta / Re: How can we (Bitcointalk) improve this forum ??? (This is 2 help further BTCoin) on: April 12, 2014, 03:11:30 PM
Start a new forum with different admins?

Everyone is free to do that, in fact I think some already have. If this forum is run as badly as a lot of people keep making out then a new, better forum could quickly arise and dominate.

Not as easy or simplistic as that.

And that's why this one dominates and is still used, but if a forum is created that is better than this one in every way then why would people not switch over? All somebody needs to do is create a Facebook to this MySpace and you'll be laughing.
12337  Economy / Services / Re: Selling space on my signature. Highly active account on: April 12, 2014, 03:08:04 PM
Some may say there are offers on here that will pay you for this type of service but to answer that i'm not checking in once a month with some user to grade my posts like some school teacher to see if it's an acceptable post to get paid.

As far as I'm aware none of the deals are like that. Ritz as well as some others you don't even need to check in and you get payment automatically. You're best just checking the signature overview thread to be honest. A couple of deals allow you to have multiple sigs too. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=333916.0
12338  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-11] Cyprus police issues arrest warrant for bitcoin entrepreneur on: April 12, 2014, 02:35:46 PM
Yeah, well said. Sadly though it seems many wannabe Bitcoin entrepreneurs are really just looking to scam. How much did he actually make off with in total? I suspect the figures quoted are small fries compared to all the rest.

Most of the people will never launch a complaint. Sometimes, the victims are in a legally weak position (due to factors such as tax evasion). That is what encouraging the scammers.

Yeah, add to the fact that some won't have the balls/money/time/energy etc to file a complaint or follow through with the stresses of a lawsuit etc.
12339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why satoshi doesn't come forward on: April 12, 2014, 02:32:55 PM
Better to be rich in private.

Maybe, but not so much if you don't even spend any of it. His wealth seems to have been pretty stationary So far, unless he had other secret stashes we don't know about.
12340  Other / Off-topic / Re: I dont think we should evolve any longer as humans on: April 12, 2014, 02:30:39 PM
There are many things happening with science and technology, we are destroying freedom with technology.  Unless we all can can stand up up to against our goverments, are kids are gonna learn to accpet the gov bullies.

We need to evolve but no longer from the ego.  It's time we found our true spiritual nature and oneness once again.

Isn't ego what all humans have unfortunately evolved into? Sometimes I think it's all that separates us from other species. That and greed and all the other deadly sins.
