12321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: stakes. on: June 22, 2018, 04:57:16 PM
it's a system that probably got most attention during the waves signature campaign.
Unlike regular campaigns, in this system, members don't get paid by fixed rates or pay per post rates.
There is a total budget for the campaign (which should be mentioned in the thread somewhere) and users get paid distinct shares of that total budget.
If you have X stakes, your payment would be: (total budget)*(personal stakes/total stakes).
E.g. having 10 stakes in a 5BTC campaign with a total size of 1000 stakes would give you 5BTC*(10/1000)=0.05BTC.

There's no definite answer what is better or worse, it always depends on the individual campaign.
12322  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to verify the security integrity of the Ledger Nano S? on: June 22, 2018, 04:25:21 PM
~
Yes. When I open the Chrome app, conect and unlock my Nano, the screen briefly shows "Checking if the device is genuine" or something like this. The methods in the article are just a way of checking it directly.
12323  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to verify the security integrity of the Ledger Nano S? on: June 22, 2018, 03:47:11 AM
1. Install Python on your computer.
2. Open your terminal/cmd and run:
Code:
pip install --no-cache-dir ledgerblue

3. Then, run:

On firmware 1.3.1 or below
Code:
python -m ledgerblue.checkGenuine --targetId 0x31100002

On firmware 1.4.1 and above
Code:
python -m ledgerblue.checkGenuine --targetId 0x31100003

It will output either your device is genuine or not.

Banning someone = moderating.
12325  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help in installing windows Electrum wallet on: June 21, 2018, 05:51:01 PM
Thank you so much for the answer but I'm still a bit confused about this-: "SegWit" - This will create bech32 (aka "bc1") addresses... if you want to use legacy (aka "1"-type) addresses... select "Standard". Pls do explain more.
Putting in a simple way:

There are 2 types of wallets that you can create directly from Electrum: (native) Segwit and Legacy.
(native) Segwit addresses start with 'bc1' (so, your address looks like this bc1qar0srrr7xfkvy5l643lydnw9re59gtzzwf5mdq) and Legacy addresses start with a '1' (example: 1F1tAaz5x1HUXrCNLbtMDqcw6o5GNn4xqX).

(native) Segwit (bc1) pros:
  • You pay fewer transaction fees
  • You help the network

(native) Segwit (bc1) cons:
  • Isn't supported everywhere, so you address will look invalid for a few block-explorers/services

My recommendation is that you generate a BIP49 Segwit wallet (which address starts with a '3' - example: 3J98t1WpEZ73CNmQviecrnyiWrnqRhWNLy). Why? Because you still pay fewer fees, and those addresses are supported by every service and block-explorer. Here is how you can do it (and use it in Electrum):

1. Go to iancoleman's BIP39 seed generator[1] (optional - download the source code and run offline for better security);
2. Select 12 words and generate a new seed;
3. SAVE THIS SEED AND DON'T LOSE IT! You can't see it again in Electrum and without the seed you can't restore your wallet in the future;
4. Download Electrum[2];
5. While creating the wallet, select: Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> Paste the seed from step 2.
6. Click Options -> check "BIP39 seed" -> Next.
7. In the Derivation part, paste m/49'/0'/0'/0 and click next.
8. Now you have an Segwit wallet with addresses starting with 3.

12328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Adding Image to Your post on: June 21, 2018, 04:36:34 PM
I just noticed that many users are still asking this question hence making a post about it.
Hoping that this will reach the masses Grin.
It won't. If you see someone asking this question, link them one of the multiple existing threads instead of creating a new one. The truth is that your thread will be just another in the many others and in a few hours, this thread will be in the 3rd page (or more) of the board. So, just another useless and effortless thread.

A simple "add image bitcointalk" search is enough for those who want to find a solution.

There is none for Newbies. Why don't you start contributing to the forum instead of trying to spam it for money?

You've been here for 4 days ffs. This isn't MakeMoneyTalk, it's BitcoinTalk. Have some common sense.
12330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I sent my LTC to old wallet on: June 21, 2018, 02:05:33 AM
Do you mean a completely different wallet? Or just a different address? If it was to a different wallet (different seed, file, etc...), then you either need the wallet seed or the file. Without any of them, your LTC are gone. If it was to a different address (but inside your wallet), then the coins should be there since every used address is still valid.

P.S: You posted this in the "Bitcoin Technical Support" board. And this has nothing to do with Bitcoin.
12331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie in this field. on: June 20, 2018, 05:10:19 PM
Out of curiosity, what did your father/father's friend said to you? Did they told you about cryptocurrencies and the technology behind it, or did they focused on telling you about this forum? If it was about the forum, what exactly did they told you? Was it about bounties/campaigns or as a good place to research about the technology?

If someone asks you why did you join this forum and what did you like about it, what would you say? Please, be honest.
12332  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Bitcoins sent to an Armory wallet which was not yet synced to the blockchain on: June 20, 2018, 02:37:03 PM
Is it possible that the bitcoins I sent are now lost in the ether and I have no way of regaining them?
No. The coins should be there.

Are you sure that you send them to the right address? Go to "Addresses" -> "View Addresses Book" and try to find your address there. Then, search it in a block explorer like Blockchain.info to see if the address has any coins there.
12333  Other / Meta / Re: Image with link alignment problem on: June 20, 2018, 02:03:36 PM
Hmm... Found another solution: put an URL tag in every image, so everything is a little bit to the right.

Add this to every image that doesn't have an URL:
Code:
[iurl=#]image here[/iurl]

This makes that people can click the image but nothing will happen. While the others will lead to the right page.

Edit: here it is

Code:
[iurl=#][img]https://vps-city.com/alloybtc_talk/H1.jpg[/img][/iurl]

12334  Other / Meta / Re: Image with link alignment problem on: June 20, 2018, 01:22:06 PM
I got it. It's because of the URL tag before the image, which puts the image a little more to the right.

I found a solution: add this to every image that doesn't have a link
Code:
[right][img width=1529]IMG URL HERE[/img][/right]

This will put every image a little bit to the right, making them align with the ones with an url.

Edit: it's actually "width=1529" and not 1300. Here is the whole working code for the thread:

Code:
[right]
[img width=1529]https://vps-city.com/alloybtc_talk/H1.jpg[/img]

12336  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coins.ph (Bitcoin and Ethereum Wallet) on: June 19, 2018, 06:00:23 PM
Coins.ph is safe and you can use it as a wallet even it is a local exchange site you can still save your bitcoin there without worrying because coins.ph is a legal business in the Philippines near ortigas center based on their recent location.
Nothing that isn't stored offline or in a hardware wallet is safe. Not even a desktop wallet is 100% safe, so how is giving your coins to a third party safe?

AFAIK Mt. Gox was also a legal business. This doesn't change the fact that they got hacked and all the coins went missing. Please stop telling people to use an exchange as a wallet.

I think it was ctrl+F5 and you gonna see your avatar. I'm on a mobile and I cannot try it now, but as far as I remember this was the combination Wink
That's the one to clean the browser cache (I wrote it in my post above). But I'm not sure if that's the issue.

The truth is that this is a common issue and that your new avatar will always show after a couple minutes, so there is nothing to worry about. Just wait for it to update.
12338  Other / Meta / Re: AVATAR playing hide and seek on: June 19, 2018, 01:38:54 PM
It's related to the forum cache.

Press Ctrl + F5 to refresh the page cache.

Or just wait. You can't see it, but your avatar changes immediately after you submit it.

My transfer finally came through.   Just had to wait for it.

Can you tell me how to increase the payment on the transaction so I don't have several days to wait?
This was not Bitcoin's fault. It was the website that said that your coins had been sent while they had not.

Usually, the transaction gets sent pretty quickly and confirmed in a few blocks (right now, usually in the next one since fees are cheap).
