12341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be divided beyond satoshis? on: April 28, 2016, 09:06:15 AM
Good luck actually making it happen if it does somehow become necessary!  If they can't reach agreement about anything else, I don't see people agreeing on spliting the Satoshi.
Without having to come to any agreement, just add mili/micro (or some other unit that is smaller) satoshi and the problem would be solved. I can see how it would be hard to reach an agreement on the name though.

Otherwise it won't be needed. Now even if it does become the world's only currency, dividing the Satoshi into a million Laudas won't be needed: one more decimal will do the trick (to which we'll add 2 more for the sake of clarity).
If you do not use Laudas, I will stall consensus for all eternity!

Currently you are not able to divide it beyond as satoshi is the smallest introduced unit. However, if it ever becomes needed, additional units could be added that are smaller than a single satoshi (e.g. 1 000 000 Laudas = 1 Satoshi). I don't think that it will come to that though.

I use it as a currency (quite frequent purchases as compared to before). This is how it was meant to be used anyhow.

but i prefer to use bitcoin when price is rising Grin
Who doesn't?
12346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first confirmation is taking way to Effing long!!! on: April 28, 2016, 06:06:24 AM
Yes bitcoin taking long time than 10 minutes sometimes if you use online wallet where they fail to sync every 10 minutes and get sync only after 30 to 40 minute and sometime within 1 to 2 minute.
What is this supposed to mean? What kind of wallet are we talking about?

Cant really add anything to this thread without TX ID.
could be serious, but could be spam too.
Indeed.

I include 50% above the required fees, and am still having an absurd delay on some transactions.
Again, it comes down to satoshi/byte at the time and the size of your TX. A fee of X will work for some of your transactions, but might not work for some other ones (e.g. due to size).

Well both actually, because there is a restriction on PM's for newbies as well, however that I`d leave as it is (because that is clearly a spam vector).
IM spam doesn't work. You can't even message me without being close to my circles (if I had an account that is; but this is how it used to work for me) as these messages will never reach me.

Well its not me who has to provide it but the free market.
Exactly what has this 'free market' done to prevent the spam so far? All that we have is a few (very few) members that occasionally report spammers that they find. Everything else, is up to the moderators.

I was asked to review the service since I'm the moderator of the Croatian section. Since I have some spare time, I've decided to help out.

The translations are properly written (and those minor mistakes can be neglected due to the nature of the language itself) and this is probably better than what I could produce.

Not directly, but there are 3rd party services that pay/post, so i bet there is tons of spam there too, with financial incentive.
I disagree. Unless if you mean posts on pages which are different since you were talking about IM.

No, because then people will come up with other ways to spam , like paying people for shilling and stuff like that.
You aren't providing solutions to this problem while you suggestions makes it easier (i.e. makes it worse). Until you provide adequate solutions I will have to strongly disagree with the suggestion.
12352  Other / Meta / Re: Easier newbie integration on: April 27, 2016, 08:07:10 PM
Imagine if facebook chat would have a 6min post timer. I dont think restricting the frequency of posts in a discussion board is productive for it.
Facebook does not have 'pay-per-each message' and that is what makes a huge difference here.

If spam is the big concern then there should be other ways to filter that, but not by restricting people to post.
Sure, ban signature campaigns completely and soften the restrictions. That could work.

Now this would be something quite interesting and very unexpected. This would definitely be a very positive sign, should it ever happen.

Very good this will be standard practise in 15 years time and we will look back and wonder why we ever doubted it.
Speculation.
12355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core version 0.12.1 released on: April 27, 2016, 06:18:20 PM
Keep us posted.
In another thread please

i think that if the old version is working then there is no need to upgrade. because it has just to fix some bugs and a little bit error. and i do not think that there is need to upgrade to the latest version.
If 4 soft forks aren't an upgrade, then I don't know what is. While this isn't a major upgrade, I would still recommend upgrading. However, I didn't have time to upgrade my own node yet either.

12356  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would be the price? on: April 27, 2016, 03:48:55 PM
Here is one way of estimating the value: Assume 100% adoption means that all the money in the world is replaced by bitcoins. The base money supply is about $14 trillion. If that were replaced by the 15 million bitcoins in circulation, each bitcoin would be worth about $900,000. Take that number with a grain of salt. There are other significant factors.
That's a very unusual way of trying to calculate the price for each Bitcoin. I don't think that it is possible to predict the price, as it will most likely end up being wrong by a huge factor (even if it did reach 100% adoption).

If I look at the total overall Bitcoin owned, then the price will be in the range of Bitcoin $ 1000-5000.
This calculation does not makes sense.

bitcoin will have a stable price.
I concur. I think that stability of the price will be a positive factor in the long run.
12357  Other / Meta / Re: Easier newbie integration on: April 27, 2016, 01:34:48 PM
Thats a pretty harsh filter.  Sure a newbie can just buy many Hero member accounts and do the same thing for sig campaign.
However when there is a huge influx of real newbies everytime a major news article comes out, thousands of newbies come to this forum.
In my opinion, it is a soft one. The cases in which one would have to post twice within 6 minutes is very rare. Most people, aside from spammers, usually do not do this anyways.

And if they cant use it, they will just leave, perhaps quit bitcoin as well.
Having to wait 6 minutes between posts != not being able to use it.
12358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Longest Chain? on: April 27, 2016, 12:29:21 PM
Im wondering on what always the longest chain is based on.
Do you know what the word longest means? In your case, the answer would be chain 1. The number of blocks is what determines the longest chain. Additional useful information can be found here.
12359  Economy / Speculation / Re: What would be the price? on: April 27, 2016, 12:14:25 PM
I imagine that 5% would mean a huge jump in bitcoin adoption and therefore, the price will have increased due to increased demand/use. Somewhere in the few thousand dollar range at least. Just a guestimate.
That is not what the OP is talking about.

There is no any actual data available to suggest actually 5% of world population is using bitcoin as payment method.
There is no way of measuring how many people are actually using Bitcoin, so this whole thread is wrong (just baseless assumptions and speculation).
