You sound like Trump or Bush Jr trying to give a purposefully dumbed down speech to appeal to the lowest common denominator and manipulate them into believing something that isn't true.

Fact:  It's 100% impossible to create a decentralized cryptocurrency because transaction validators are always designed to centralize through compound interest, economy of scale, foundry capital requirements, the fact adversarial mining is more effective against opponents with less hashpower, and numerous other variables.

Fact:  Since transaction validators are ALWAYS designed to centralize, bitcoin has zero fundamentals, and thus zero value because it's just a non-fungible, completely centralized, permissioned ledger prison system in the endgame, kind of like the digital banking system that already exists.

There is no reason to support this garbage whatsoever over physical silver or gold, which is a far superior settlement system and dual use currency at the same time.

Why everyday people come with "facts" against bitcoin, that are just some copy paste opinion?
What you are saying makes zero sense and is just garbage. What are you doing in a bitcoin forum anyway if you don't like it and doesn't understand it?
12382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A basic question about validating transactions and blocks.. on: May 12, 2018, 12:12:14 AM

If the miners are extracting information from a shared pool of transactions can the same transaction be in multiple blocks, and therefore be in the Blockchain multiple times?

No. The transaction goes only in one block.
The number os confirmations is the number of mined blocks after that transaction has been added to a block.

I made a brief summary here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3317586.msg34646752#msg34646752
12383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A basic question about validating transactions and blocks.. on: May 11, 2018, 10:58:24 PM
Transactions are not validate by the Miners, but by full nodes.

Transactions stay on mempool which is shared by nodes.

Miners decide which transactions from the mempool they are going to add in he block. After adding the transaction they mine it (mine = solve cryptographic puzzle , pow)

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong

Every little bad news and the whole market collapses.

an investigation in upbit (Korea) makes this to the market.

His doesn't make sense at all
This market needs to mature a lot more.

E as 3 pools que controlam 50%+ do poder do BTC? Roll Eyes

It has also been mentioned by Vitalik that the users would need high configuration hardware and further the submission of at least 1,500 ETH to participate in Casper. However, nodes with less Ether would be able to participate in a pool by working together and sharing their profits.

12390  Economy / Speculation / Re: Futures destroyed Bitcoin on: May 11, 2018, 03:32:50 PM
There are many institutions like pension funds, hedge funds, multimarket funds, etc which want but cannot buy bitcoin directly.

But they could buy a future. Or an ETF.

T His is why futures and ETFs are important right now. They are the first step to institutional money.
12391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the quantum computer will crack the btc private key and destroy Blockchain ? on: May 11, 2018, 03:23:06 PM
if the quantum computer is mass-produced , ordinary people can use it to calculate the private key of all bitcoin wallets and take away the bitcoin inside . bitcoin encryption algorithms need innovation . quantum computer mass production takes about 3 years .

Not going to happen.

Those quantum computers will be expensive when released (a few years from now), not available for common people.
And when these computers are being adopted, signing schemes and cryptography are going to be improved as well.

12393  Other / Meta / Re: Why everyone is chasing for Merit? on: May 11, 2018, 03:08:12 PM
I am enjoying the merit system. As I earned zero free merit, I need lots of merits to rank up. It was a challenge to me.
So I decided to study about Bitcoin and post here. I am also improving my English writing skills along the way. I still make a lot of English mistakes, but I am improving.
I would really like a merit push up notification lol. I really like to see if my posts receives merits. Merit system became one of the reasons for me to make good posts.

First, I’d say that the OP´s title is obviously a deliberate oversighted generalization, since there are many users that don’t seem to give a dam about Merit (yet). There are tons of lower ranked users that post indiscriminately with total oblivion to Merit, it’s explicit goals (I figure there are implicit goals too) and what it is required for.

I would say that we have:
1)   Those that don’t know what Merit is: as stated above.
2)   Those that don’t give a rats ass about it: since they don’t aspire to rank high really, or simply don’t care about the whole scheme of things.
3)   The ones who do care about it but do not have the core competences to get more than a few merits at most.
4)   The ones that do care about it but, having enough skillsets, see it difficult to obtain.
5)   The ones that do care about it and set out for them regularly.
6)   The ones that do care about it, already have bags of them, and are good to go.
7)   The ones that do care about it, already have bags of them, and want more.

The ones that do care about Merit can do so due to multiple non-exclusive reasons:
a)   It is part of the ranking game and rank is a conceptual status and an aspiration.
b)   It is part of the ranking game and rank can bring some goodies in signature campaigns and perhaps lead to other opportunities too.
c)   It is a mechanism that at least tries to raise the stakes on posting content and bar low level posts.
d)   It is a challenge: where ranking up on it’s own due to activity could be done blindfolded, Merit is a cookie for the brain and personal ego. Merit is probably above rank in this case conceptually.
e)   It gives a sense of power over others.

We could probably add quite a few, but eventually the list will be a close one and we can all be clustered into groups with a common view on the matter. Views do evolve, so one shifts between groups over time. The weekly overall potential sMerit decrease could soon playout as a large player in viewpoint change.

Having set the above draft of cluster variables, I would say that I started in January 2018 as a clear  standalone “1”, soon move on to a “4b”, then on to a “5cd”, and currently reside at “4cd”.

Hello DdmrDdmr,

Your classification is interesting.
I think I am something about 5d/5b or 7b/7d in your list.
My posts and merits have already led to some good opportunities already (opportunities outside the forum), and I think more opportunities will come.

This forum is a great place to join a network of people who shares a common interest if you are not a shitposter/spammer. There are very knowledge and entrepreneur people here.
12394  Local / Criptomoedas Alternativas / Re: Dúvida sobre wallet Ethereum on: May 11, 2018, 01:03:59 AM

12395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ripple really a cryptocurrency? on: May 10, 2018, 09:29:07 PM
No you cannot say that Ripple is a real cryptocurrency. It is looks more like a centralized system, which is the the very opposite of what a good cryptocurrency should look like. For me, Ripple is a sort of banking system for transferring value. That being said, I do think Ripple has its place in the current constellation of things, probably as a new type of payment technology.

https://arewedecentralizedyet.com/

This website shows some centralization data

Take a look ate ripple here.

Fully centralized. But I agree, they have a place in the cryptocurrency world.
12396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Releases Casper Protocol on: May 10, 2018, 09:21:41 PM

Furthermore, in order to enter the PoS game, one is supposed to own 1,500 ETH to receive stacking reward. This is really huge, and I don't see how they are going to avoid centralization. Ah, wait, the network is already pretty much centralized.

Lol I was expecting to stake my few gweis .
This is much worse than I thought
12397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: These Facts Indicate A Negative Condition of Cryptocurrency — Be Warned on: May 10, 2018, 07:58:46 PM
These are not facts but your opinion. I think most of those "facts" are just wrong.

1. Cryptocurrency is not regulated by any authorized organization. The issuer of cryptocurrency will not be in charge of commercial crime if there is. The issuers are mostly private companies when they don’t necessarily announce their financial statements.
You are confused. Cryptocurrency regulation has nothing to do with crimes.
If someone still your crypto it's a crime in most countries. There are many examples out there.

2. The influence of cryptocurrency is not expected as it’s encrypted. The market capitalization indicates a volume of 419 billion and there’s a large part of transactions are crime activities. Bitcoin is now the biggest currency in black market by TOR browsing when regulators are impossible to track them. A few months after Silk Road was wiped out, many have opened extra terminals to proceed Litecoin LTC for a reduction of risks.

Dollar is used for illegal activities also.
According to wikipedia The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's World Drug Report 2005 estimates the size of the global illicit drug market at US$321.6 billion in 2003 alone.
This is more than 600x the whole cryptomarket.

So, this fact indicates dollar will fail too?

3. Can cryptocurreny be in use alike present currencies? The answer is NO but not fully negative. According to its unstable feature, this is not a good idea to proceed by cryptos. For example, if commodity is sold for 1 Bitcoin as Bitcoin prices at, let’s say $9,000, what if it drop to $7,000? Cryptocurrency possibly becomes steady after major countries promote cryptocurrency as one of major payment methods.
This is not a problem, as in this early stage of crypto prices can be adjusted periodically. People are selling pizzas since 2010 with BTC.

4. Your property is not completely safe in bank but securer than in crypto exchange and wallet. Typically, users upload crypto and personal information on Datum cloud by paying Datum coin so Datum is able to collect either profile or crypto from customers with a centralization strategy. Depositors in either bank or wallet confront similar risks: either bank or exchange account are possible become hacked; there is a chance that they become collapsed as well. However, these factors confront differently in possibility when bank is much more steady and regulated.

If you own your private key and you keep it safe, you are the only person in the world who can access these funds.
If your money is in the bank they take it from you anytime. They can revert ANY transaction. There is no 6 blocks confirmations in the fiat system. Even if the transaction is 10 years old it can be reverted.
If you don't have funds in your bank account, the bank can give you a negative balance. Summary: If your money is on the bank, it's not yours.

With crypto you own the funds, nobody can touch it.
All transactions in crypto are irreversible and nobody without the private key can touch them.

5. The restriction to cryptocurrency is far not enough. First, crypto is not a local case but the global what indicates a difficulty of control.
Crypto is not there to be controlled. It was designed to be uncontrollable.

Second, government will not give up on the currency issued.
Government can issue all the currency they want, that will not stop crypto.
12398  Local / Criptomoedas Alternativas / Re: Dúvida sobre wallet Ethereum on: May 10, 2018, 06:49:01 PM

Pra vc movimentar essas tokens vc precisa GAS.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3260155.0;topicseen
Aqui explica e no comentário logo embaixo ensina a ir no http://ethgasstation.info/ e pagar a menor taxa possível.

It is funny watching how after each bullish post,  the bear trolls post in a matter of seconds maid up shit posts. Epecially Terra and her multiple newbie accounts praising her own wisdom  Grin Sure, Wall Street buying thousands of Bitcoins is a bear news, why not, if you say so.

In a bear market every news is bad news.
In a bull market every news is good news.

Just doesn't make sense.
12400  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2018, 03:24:11 PM
Any wall street involvement with public cryptos is a ploy to get inside and take them down, like with the futures.

Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin are for everyone. And that include wall street investors.

Bitcoin is a new asset class with high returns and is non-correlated to any other asset (no correlation to bonds, stocks, etc)

Hedge funds, pension funds, they all wanna buy bitcoin. They are coming and they cannot be stopped. They WANT to come in

But they can't for regulation and legal reasons. one day they will, and market will BOOOOOM
