1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling? on: March 06, 2021, 10:25:21 PM
Poker and blackjack seems to be the go-to of these professional gamblers. I guesz because it's easy and the mechanics of the game are basically elementary and what makes it really hard is the human mind's lack of attention to detail, which these professionals honed to suit best in their particular game. Now that being said, they could just be fairly better than a regular poker player or blackjack enthusiast, with margins of failure still here and there. But knowing they are pro at their game adds that sense of intimidation.
1242  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin millionaire lists reasons most will never be rich on: March 06, 2021, 10:18:03 PM
I would agree that all of his points, taken into their respective context, makes complete sense. However, has he considered thinking about those who are below the poverty line, those that are poorest of the poor? I believe that even if these people put these big a burden on themselves, they aren't supposed to be left out in these kinds of discussion. Maybe next time consider those people.
1243  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a Lifeboat on: March 06, 2021, 10:11:27 PM
The biggest casualty that the COVID-19 crisis committed is the USD, their government didn't know what to do now and is currently trying to pass a bill that will enable them to print more money, in hopes of it stimulating the economy. Although let's be real here, the only thing that's going to be stimulated is hyperinflation, especially if afaik, they are to print $1.9 trillion worth of USD.
1244  Economy / Economics / Re: Big test for Bitcoin during the next Economic Collapse. on: March 06, 2021, 09:41:36 PM
Provided this collapse doesn't ensue a war for resources, We can guarantee that bitcoin will take over the currency and will stand victorious against the USD. In all these years bitcoin only appreciated in value, while USD steadily fell down and lost its worth, and as OP have said, with the upcoming printing of inordinate amounts of USD, expect an economic collapse and those who have bitcoins will stand victorious.
Senate democrats in the United States congress pass one of the biggest spending bills in history. 1.9 trillion dollars...USD is not a stable currency anymore. When you have politicians that believe they can print money on a machine for political victories, you have destabilized the currency in a way that will cause extreme inflation.

So there really isn't a test for Bitcoin. The long term goal for any BTC user/investor has always been -- let the largest currencies in the world collapse due to irresponsible spending and let BTC take the throne because of its decentralization. Unfortunately for Americans, this process will be expedited thanks to this spending bill.
Except if more Americans see what's going on and find out the best way out is thru cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, this could only be bad for those who hoard USD. But I digress.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Floyd Mayweather vs Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) on: March 06, 2021, 09:37:20 PM
Lmao if this does happen this will be the realization of Def Jam for the PlayStation 2. Mayweather really be doing these exhibition fightrs against people he know won't win against him in technicalities. So yeah, if this does happen, one helpful tip he can use is to ensure that Mayweather is knocked out, otherwise he won't win against him.
1246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Failed as Money? on: March 04, 2021, 10:38:10 PM
It's true that bitcoin as of the moment is more well-known as a store of value, or an asset, sometimes even as a "get-rich-quick scheme" by the newbies. But if you consider how long it literally took bitcoin to reach this point, and to what it can be capable of in the future, one may argue that it is a better money than money itself, knowing that it appreciates over time unlike fiat that constantly inflates in volume but deflates in value. So no, bitcoin still has a good chance of becoming a currency widely accepted by everyone, and to say that it has failed is like saying your grade-school kid won't finish college just because he can't write properly.
After the rise in bitcoin price, both the fees for bitcoin and ethereum was raised. Some people are suffering to pay the gas fee for the transaction of the less value token.Who pay 10$ as a fee for the transaction of 50-60$.Nearly 1/5 as a fees for the transaction. This should be rectified soon.
The lightning network is there to solve this issue for bitcoin, I don't know why only a few people seek its aid but it's pretty much there.
1247  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic: good for the bitcoin market or bad? on: March 04, 2021, 10:21:57 PM
In actuality, the pandemic should've been very bad for the market, with people losing jobs left and right, and cashing out of money an imminent threat yet an understandable one due to the fact that they have lives to sustain, Bitcoin should've dropped dead way back 2020, which it almost could've, knowing that March was when bitcoin dropped to $6000. But larger companies came in and pumped the value of the coin, which severely affected the price for the better, and that's where we are now.
1248  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech companies no longer "friends" on: March 04, 2021, 10:13:36 PM
Since they are starting to hoard cryptocurrencies and bitcoins as their backup asset, I believe the war between these companies have already begun. Facebook is on the lead with them pioneering Libra, and if the timing is right, they can literally win this war on their own, since we all know here in the cryptocurrency industry, whoever goes in first wins.
1249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone placed esports bets? on: March 04, 2021, 10:10:01 PM
Ever since the boom on Esports popularity I started betting on League of Legends teams and Overwatch teams as these are the ones that I am most familiar with. I also tried Fantasy drafting but it didn't really tickle my fancy so I came back to regular esports betting. I can say it's much easier to bet on esports rather than regular games because you can really see the games even in the player's perspective, giving you confidence to either bet more or bet less.
1250  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine the government not printing money - "Notgeld" on: March 03, 2021, 11:08:59 PM
consequently, with the current level of excessive devaluation, it appears that the financial crisis is intensifying. Even though they only need to print more banknotes. However, the impact made the authenticity of banknotes less and less. take a look at Bitcoin, with its limited supply, making it even more expensive. Quite simply isn't it, that the existence of bitcoin has given us a choice, and with this choice we can multiply banknotes without having to come to the bank office every month just to save and receive interest deductions every month.
That's why fiat, if this continues and carries on in the next generation, will not survive. This happened in WW2 with Japan, where they overprinted money that you had to use a sack of it to buy 1 kilo of Rice in the Philippines at the time, and if history does repeat itself, it will come to a point where they will force it onto people to use their hyperinflated currency, to facilitate circulation and hope that it counteracts devaluation, which is preposterous since they basically put it on themselves.
1251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can / cannot replace the banks ? on: March 03, 2021, 11:04:25 PM
People be more scared about hacking in crypto which doesn't happen that often anymore than bank frauds which happens everyday. In my experience working for a bank, the system is not adequate to support the amount of money and trust their customers give them, which often reflects to customers being scammed out of their money and/or fraudulent activities, people who are just scared of crypto wallets are those who are not confident of their own ability to take care of their own money, that's why they will save it in the banks instead so whatever happens, they have someone or something to blame.
1252  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The first response to satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper on: March 03, 2021, 10:59:28 PM
He probably saw bitcoin as Satoshi saw it, being a worldwide currency, however, he also saw its flaws which he found out to be the scalability limitations itself, and with Satoshi basically being non-existent at this point, it's only going to be a bigger and more painful problems to us users in the near future. Unless otherwise some guy who can either be Satoshi or a good samaritan will come over and take care of it, there's no stopping this problem.
1253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The History Of Crypto Gambling on: March 03, 2021, 10:55:16 PM
Bitcoin has gone a long way from being a basically dirt-cheap asset that can barely buy a pizza to one of the biggest assets out there that also created opportunities and a whole new niche in the trading business. So when people say that bitcoin is not the future, or that bitcoin will die in a few years or so, I simply laugh at them knowing that this cryptocurrency weathered multiple storms and crashes in the span of its lifetime.
1254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did bitcoin lose its value? on: March 02, 2021, 11:06:49 PM
Funny how people are still replying to this thread, months after bitcoin reached $30k, $40k, and $50k, although OP has a point in the case of the US dollar inflating which could give the illusion that something is more valuable now, but the thing is, bitcoin is not connected to these values, and they are merely there to serve as a comparison of what bitcoin is worth now.
1255  Economy / Economics / Re: Why should i invest in bitcoin or other cryptos ? on: March 02, 2021, 11:03:34 PM
For two things OP. Financial and Economic Security. Most of us here would invest in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general for the money, because it offers great profitability we can't find anywhere else, although of course this doesn't come without high risks as well. On the other hand, a number of investors here are also investing because they wanted to be secured when the time comes where bitcoin overthrows the dollar, ensuing a global adoption, because it's better to be early than everyone else.
1256  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you define rich? on: March 02, 2021, 10:52:05 PM
I define someone as rich in terms of wealth, if they can sustain the next generation of their family all on their money, and 1000 bitcoins is more than enough to sustain your grandkids here in my country. Now rich could also mean abundant, and stuff like that, but personally, when someone says rich I automatically think of it as wealth-type.
1257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto Gambling and Fantasy Sports - A Gap in the Market? on: March 02, 2021, 10:38:37 PM
It's an uncharted venture indeed, but I don't see the lack of fantasy betting crypto sites or games as something that would greatly impact the market right now. As of the moment there are much more ways for pepole to spend their money on casinos and stuff and since Fantasy games already died last 2014, I don't think it will catch up with the growing demands of the people.
1258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we all fools on believing the word "HOLD"? on: March 01, 2021, 11:41:14 PM
What is the point of holding it for a few years if you give it up now? not to mention how low the price is right now compared to where you bought it.
it does not make any sense for me to sell it at this price, I would rather hold it into dust other than losing the chance for my portfolio to breakeven or even make a profit.
holding is fine but you must know what is the reason you are holding it.

In a strategic standpoint, it is definitely not worth selling it for fiat anymore since he's going to be at a loss, but since it's been 4 years, and it would be more wasteful to keep a dead coin in your portfolio, why don't he trade these coins for more profitable ones like ADA, or BTC? that way he can regain his losses, and he can find great use for these shitcoins without spending another couple of thousand dollars to fund his portfolio.
1259  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think about borrowing against your bitcoin? on: March 01, 2021, 11:37:57 PM
taking a loan to jumpstart your cryptocurrency journey is something that I am actively against and is advising to avoid, We may be very hopeful about bitcoin reaching the moon or solar system but we are also fully aware that there is that chance where we could lose everything in a snap, and we don't want that to happen to you, so only invest what money you can afford.
1260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where would you sell if you had bought 10 Bitcoin at $100? on: March 01, 2021, 11:33:08 PM
That's the beauty of it, you can never sell all of it because you know for a fact that it's the money doing the work for you, not the other way around. And wasting off such huge potentials such as what bitcoin can offer, at as early as 10 years ago, is something that a wise investor wants to avoid.
