Sounds like a celebrity powered shitcoin. I am sure that Ronaldinho's celebrity will lure in a lot of people that know even less about cryptocurrencies than he does. Anyone with any knowledge will look at this as just someone using their celebrity to fund a vanity project that can't raise money without praying on stupid people. This project will just create a lot of disgruntled newbies that will blame crypto and not Ronaldinho when they lose their money.

I am bullish on cryptocurrencies in general. Right now most of the trading is about the systemic risks of regulation which is why you see all the currencies rising and falling together. I have two things I am looking for to happen in 2018. I hope to see a decoupling of coins as the regulatory environment becomes more clear. In my opinion Ethereum has a much more compelling use case than Bitcoin and I think the current correlation harms Ethereum. The other thing I hope to see is institutional money starting to be invested. I don't think we will see a repeat of the rapid rise in coin prices we saw in 2017, but I do think we are at the begining of a multi year bull market for cryptocurrencies that will see most of them reaching new highs.

Do you think this is wise just before your ICO?

I can perfectly understand the attraction of privacy coins. Many people involved in cryptocurrencies come from a Libertarian affiliation and the idea of a currency beyond the control of the state is probably what first attracted them. However, those that are working to harm cryptocurrencies are constantly playing up false concerns about their use to launder money from crime. This is what has led Japan to ban privacy coins from their exchanges and is likely to be followed by other jurisdiction. I think privacy coins have a role within the ecosystem but they are not likely to become main stream coins because many jurisdictions will prevent their exchanges from trading them.

So my question to you is will you still use MEW? Do you think it is their responsibility what happened? The hack that happened a couple months ago was bad enough, but now another one? I find it hard to believe that their credibility will be salvaged after this.

It was not MEW that was hacked. It was a shitty VPN called Hola.

Exchanges charge exorbitant fees because they can. If you have a large base of users having them invest can cause the price of the coin to rise. The reasons coins die is that the people behind the project do a poor job of executing their plan or communicating what the project is doing. The choice of exchange listing can have a lot of influence on the short term price right after the ICO, but it is executing a well thought out business plan that adds long term value.

I believe that investors have got more selective about which ICO they participate in. Given the numbers of ICO's were the managers are making no progress after raising large sums as well as the ones that turned out to be scams. People are being much more careful about investment selection. Good projects are getting funded but the ability to raise large sums for a bunch of teenagers with a whitepaper is over and that is a good thing.

Unlike other bounty campaigns you can only do one signature at a time so be very sure that the one you chose has a high probability of raising money and also not turning scam. It is also wise to select a campaign that has a defined ending date. If you join the signature campaign of an ICO that has not set its end date you could end up on a campaign that runs 6 months with still no end date in sight and risk losing any reward you earned if you quit before it ends.

Probably the most important thing for me is the information about the people who are managing the project. I want to see identifiable experience that directly relates to their role and a record of success at achieving goals. While business and technology play an important role in how successful a project could potentially be it will never get their without good managers.
