Another day, another hack.  Basically My Ether Wallet was hacked via the chrome extension hola.  At this point it isn't known how many users have been affected or how many tokens have been lost.

https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/07/10/mew-hack-hola/

So my question to you is will you still use MEW?  Do you think it is their responsibility what happened?  The hack that happened a couple months ago was bad enough, but now another one?  I find it hard to believe that their credibility will be salvaged after this.

Use MetaMask, it's infinite better than MEW, I used it from the moment I started in the crypto world(1 year) and never had any problems.

So my question to you is will you still use MEW?
Yes, I'll still use MEW regardless of these hacks. I don't use hola so I'm fine with it.
Do you think it is their responsibility what happened?
Don't blame all the things to MEW, the users are also liable for installing and trusting such browser extensions.
The hack that happened a couple months ago was bad enough, but now another one?  I find it hard to believe that their credibility will be salvaged after this.
I'll continue to use them but I won't store that much amount to them.

I know that MEW will not be dangerous if someone knows how to use it properly, but some third-party software has exploited the ignorance of some people. Today, MEW warned anyone using the Hola plugin on their browser and opened their wallet MEW within 24 hours, MAKING ALL of their assets to another SAFETY wallet.

i think most of hacked issue on MEW is because of the users itself
i use MEW from the beginning to store my ethereum and ethereum tokens i have no big issue with MEW
because i keep my private key and json file in the safest place

It doesn't sound as though it was a hack of mew, but rather of the extension. Lesson is, don't use extensions, is just another point to be hacked from.

Why wouldn't I? For all I know, that chrome extention is or was rigged, there are a lot of chrome extentions out there, personally I don't use them if they aren't legit. But, off course I use myetherwallet only with nano hard wallet, so probably there is a big difference.

I imagine we will keep using MEW for quite a while because it doesn't have to be used with chrome and there is also metmask which can be used to verify the correct website is being used.  But when you think about it maybe mew should be doing more to block out plugins that would incorrectly interface with MEW and allow data to be stolen

I never used nor heard about Hola as a VPN program. I won't ask the preference of people in VPNs and why are they're using it. I am still gonna use MEW regardless of the hacks it get, because the main security it gets is upon the user or the keeper of the private key. If you want to keep your private wallet secured, use a flashdrive and store your wallet file inside that after you trade. Never be too get triggered of the time you will consume at that security measure because it would always be 100% loss once your ignorance get you into that kind of incident. I never had any hacks into my wallet, but I think this will be a sort of precaution already for me while using MEW.  I wouldn't be so surprised that some people's MEW wallet file gets stolen because they are practically storing the file in the middle of their desktop files. Anti-virus won't be that much helpful in these kinds of cases.

I believe MEW is safe. In this case users of a chrome extension had their wallets invaded. People need to be more careful, perhaps accessing the wallet from a dedicated computer for this. It is good also keep only a small amount of money in the wallet.

So, I continue to use this purse, although I understand that at the moment it can be the same with me, so you need to look for something new for tokens.

MEW wasn't hacked, it's due to a Chrome extension which you should not be using for ethereum wallets. i stick to pure MEW because i don't trust any addons or anything third party, even metamask. Too many complications makes it less safe

I use MEW and my wallet add in metamask, until now I am not exposed to any problems, and also easy to use metamask to transact
