1241  Other / Off-topic / Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: August 08, 2023, 08:19:05 AM
We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience. And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil,  while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.

These factors has made a number of gamblers to keep their gambling habit a secret doing all they could not to let friends and family  know they gamble. And it does seem like they ain't proud of what they're doing.

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Those that keep their gambling habit a secret is it that they're not proud of what they are doing?.
1242  Economy / Gambling / Re: Why don't land-based casinos have an online version? on: August 07, 2023, 09:24:29 PM
I wonder why real or land based casinos are not offering a virtual or online version of their casino ( I never seen one yet). If they can afford to open a physical casino it seems easy for them to invest in a virtual one as well, possibly combining both to create an experience similar to what Evolution Gaming offers.
And if you are asking why i thought about this it’s simply because by doing it they can expand their business to reach and provide a more reliable and trustworthy platform for gamblers. Just recently we have seen unfortunate cases where online casinos have scammed users and disappeared with their deposits, often due to unknown teams and creators behind these platforms
There's a value attached to those land based casinos because of their purpose, nearly all of them were not made basically the to directly generate money for the owners but to serve as means of entertainment and burning of  leisure time by guests and that's why they're mostly located in resorts area. Just like others have said it's mainly for tourists pleasures so they don't feel boredom throughout their stay, so therefore, adding an online version imo both can't reconcile under same gambling house. And a distraction on the side of owners on decision which to give more attention  may arise creating poor management. In business it's advisable to hkeep a stronghold on the area you're doing great not becoming jack of all trades master of none at the end.
1243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Reckless gambling starts after a win round. on: August 07, 2023, 04:12:27 PM
If you are onto gambling for the first time it's not possible to get addicted to gambling because you haven't tasted what winning feels like, you will be consumed by doubts and uncertainty.

But wait till you have a taste, win some money, that's where you start feeling like there is more if you keep digging, is this not where gambling addiction starts?
Yes a big win can be misleading to a gambler making him to increase his time, energy and funds towards gamble thinking that if he could get such amount of win with no so much efforts he could make 3x of that amount doing more and it's easy to fall into gambling addiction when such mentality is created as you've to start chasing losses believing you can recover and that's a damn straight lie.

A distinct way that can also lead to reckless gambling also aside getting a direct big win is when a close fellow of yours  wins a big amount and when you got to know about the figures you develop a feeling of not doing your best that's why you haven't gotten such big win too, that's where a negative motivation evolves within you if not checked could lead you to turn to a chain-gambler.
1244  Economy / Speculation / Share your opinion on the market. on: August 07, 2023, 11:15:05 AM

I saw this image from a telegram page. I don't know but thought it wise to bring it here to the forum. Maybe we can brainstorm discussion-wise based on individuals opinions. From the image as shown above what's your prediction on the direction of the market next move?  Feel free to express your opinion be you a professional or trading expert or not.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: August 06, 2023, 08:49:15 PM
This topic is very good, because on several occasions people may believe their predictions and what will happen , I think I have already told it, but I want to bring it to this thread because I think it is very interesting, where I live people look to do raffles, be it cars, other items of that style, so when the raffles are very famous things get good, because they choose 4-figure raffles, and that is quite difficult for you to win that raffle You have to be very lucky , however when they sell many tickets, I have witnessed the raffle owners talk and whisper among themselves to go to a person who smokes tobacco so that they can do a "job" for him so that the number does not fall among the people who bought the raffle, because if so they keep the prizes and continue to do more raffles with the same cars , motorcycles, etc.

I couldn't help but listen to this, because I found it very Funny the fact that People look for witches, shamans and that kind of help so that they interfere in a lottery, obviously when people here go to those places they faithfully believe in the person who gave them He takes large amounts of money for doing that, the most important thing is that after that, and the winning number comes out, one of the tickets that someone did buy does come out , so this type of belief is based on the faith that the person places in it, but it is not something infallible that is going to happen as such. I really do not know whether to classify that belief as nonsense or something like that , it is Preferable that you start doing probabilities and statistics that is much more credible and closer to Reality.

Actually such belief system used in gambling is nothing but a nonsense belief. If the person they ran to for magical means for them to win the raffle draws really does has the power to influence the draws to their favour why didn't he uses same power to make himself rich too through the raffles or does it mean the witch is satisfied with the little amount paid to him by those who came to him seeking for their ticket to be the one to win the raffle.

I am sure if those magician  does really have that power they would buy a ticket and use their power  to influence the outcome in their own very favour to get the raffle prize. Like who doesn't want money?
1246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on: August 06, 2023, 07:32:03 PM
Today as match was going in first half I was really surprised with the performance of the Sweden team because this was beyond my expectations as USA playing aggressively I was expecting good number of goals but nothing happen, and they have to face penalties which was surely not good because in today match luck was not near their quality and performance...
USA resisted and disqualified because of penalties which isn't that bad after all. South Africa was the first African country to leave the World Cup and I suppose African will follow North American in leaving the race tho. Australia will follow?
Spain and Japan made great victories with 5 goals and 3 goals respectively and only receiving 1 goal each.
What I could say of the USA situation is that they are not lucky this time, they actually played well and defended right too. But as we all know, the penalty is a game of luck, and the Swedish side had the luck this time as fate would have it. I only share the pains of the USA team which is the defending champion, it's so sad that they were knocked out at the very beginning of the knockout stage. And as for your analysis, dream on, Africans might surprise you this time, especially the Nigerian team, they are far better than their men.

If we were to pit Nigeria's main men's team against Nigeria's women's main team I am convinced that it would be a very humiliating defeat for the women's team, I would even venture to say that we would see 20 goals for the men's team and 0 goals for the women's team, and why I I say that, and because in this World Cup it is evident that women are still very far from the level of men, the way they play is similar to the street games that children are playing, even after so many years women still can't reach at least at 30% of the men's level, I particularly can't watch these women's games, I tried on the first day, but soon I saw the size of the disaster and gave up

so I prefer to watch the highlights, for at least they make me less tired, you saw the us game against sweden Grin until the 90th minute they were playing very well, the game had such quality that it looked like it was a men's game from some 4th division league, but when it came to penalties the funny episodes started, man it was so funny that I couldn't stop laughing like they took the penalties, the collective way in which they failed was something unbelievable, it even seemed that I was seeing 8-year-olds taking penalties, I got to asking myself what that was, is this the maximum that women can achieve in football? soccer and is it really worth wasting time organizing competitions like these when you can see that the quality is extremely low
One erroneous mistakes I have seen many gamblers make about their reactions to the women's world cup is how they comfortably compare the women football to that of the men which doesn't just sink or relate at all. The women's teams mustn't play like the men's teams and it's obvious because they aren't men.

There are many women footballers that are always in better form to some male footballers in their country and have also brought titles to their country same title the males couldn't. Checking through the years we can see how the women's football has evolved more interestingly gaining much spectators than ever and using this 2023 WWC the number was beyond expectation and that's a significant plus.

Anyone can miss a penalty kick no matter how a GOAT you are in football, Messi , Ronaldo, Benzima, and so on have missed penalties, and I can remember John Terry missing a penalty in 2008 against Manchester united that was supposed to give his club the UCL victory for the first in their club history in that year but he missed it like a 2year old kid and yet no one talked about wasting of time In organisation. Except you wanna tell me you think women are not supposed to be playing football which I want to believe that's not what you mean.
1247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: August 06, 2023, 07:03:40 PM
what is certain is that when sharing your predictions with friends or other people, always give the words that there is always a risk in every bet, and this is not management advice. but for myself its better to be an introverted bettor than having to share predictions because for me its very risky for myself.
because I've seen someone share their predictions and show the amount at bet and when a big win the news spreads to all people and these people come to ask for parts or ask for accurate predictions on sports betting and that I imagine how tormented he is when many people come to share his predictions.
Sometimes when I share my predictions with friends, I always say that these predictions are just predictions. No one knows whether this prediction can win or lose and so far, they have known about it and can accept it. It's true that the results don't win often so they feel that it's just a prediction and if they don't want to follow it and just want to know my prediction, that's fine too and I'll still give it to them. But many of my friends have managed to win from the results of their predictions but I don't know how they predicted like that.
@len10 from what you said it makes much sense and easy to deal with your reasons why you don't subscribe to the idea of sharing your predictions which are for the sake of your security and to avoid certain disturbances too. Moreso I thought am the only one that frowns at that behavior of people coming around you to request for a small part of the amount won and this is normally experience in a traditional casino setting.

But just as @ethereumhunter has also expressed, I still think there's nothing wrong sharing your predictions to friends or fellow gamblers as they are just like every other normal bet predictions is either we all  win or lose.
1248  Economy / Economics / Re: what do we thinking about investment target? on: August 06, 2023, 05:48:04 PM

LOW RISK-LOW RETURN :

MEDIUM RISK-MEDIUM RETURN : .

HIGH RISK-HIGH RETURN :

Be you in any of the category above what's mostly important is that irrespective of where you find yourself let it be that you're getting a returns at the end of your investment. It doesn't have to be in a large amount in returns whether as an investor you meets your target or not, a loss is what's worst in a bid to invest our money against the bite of inflation.
And we shouldn't be stupid also to place an unrealistic investment target for ourself when our knowledge is limited in meeting such target as there are certain risks that are beyond our horizon of investment target.
1249  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you rather start/grow a business from scratch or buy an existing business? on: August 05, 2023, 10:30:40 PM
I don't really have much to say as regards to this post. It is just an avenue to hear your thoughts on which is better to invest both time, energy and resources in, mostly for a season as this, where we are experiencing economic uncertainty and ill-timed government banking policies.

So, given that the resources are available or not and you are presented with the opportunity to start/grow or buy an existing business just like Elon Musk, which option is more preferential and benefitial to you?

Not too many persons will want to start a business from scratch particularly when they have the financial resources and am one of those in that line of this school of thought. With the available finance I consider buying of franchise  cut off those hassles and challenges peculiar to newly established businesses. With a franchise of an already established company with popular market saturation uncertainties about the future of the business are not a thing of worry
1250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: August 05, 2023, 03:11:14 PM
When it comes about getting updates, football being the most recognized and populous fans sport in the world, it is very easy to get updates from people around us about football than when we play other games and bet sports and games that are not common, but in football, we can easily get the best updates going and use any of the informations received to bet base on how we understand the formation of the info received since football is very common unlike other sports.

What you are saying to an extent is correct if you are surrounded by people who are into football. In my country people are crazy about cricket and the local media does keep us updated. Apart from cricket, football does intrest me but it is not easy for me to keep a track of all leagues. That is why I follow only one league and place bet on matches where I feel confident. In case of cricket I am not selective or saturated to one league. I am following multiple league as I am more updated due to my surroundings.

I am a fan of football myself but I don't really follow many leagues but only the major ones.
I think getting updates on any sport has become very easy these days since there are sites out there which do these jobs.
Especially doing live matches, there are sites which gives live updates and so I think getting updates for matches which are not live yet should be fairly easy.

With the use of internet you can easily locate the update that you wanted to know, just be very careful in sorting those trusted website as there are website that just alluring readers, chances that update are only to gather attentions and to advertise gambling site that they are link and have referrals, even you see available information never to dwel in a single site but to check other venue to make sure that you'll be able to confirm or to have better understanding before deciding to place your bets.
Getting any sport information from the internet has been made so easy with the availability of countless sports sites to grab any piece of updating regarding our very sport of interest but at same time being careful not to fall for paid advertised sites is very much to be worried about.
Away from the internet my another reliable source of update about my favorite sport is from the local radio stations in my country through their sports analysts that takes time to analyze issues regarding different sports. Football for instance they make an objective analysis of the forms of different football clubs and their challenges which helps a lot for me in deciding how to place my bets on those clubs as I am a football enthusiast.
1251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anonymity is no longer a benefit of gambling with cryptocurrency. on: August 05, 2023, 02:32:18 PM
You are not wrong, but there are still casinos that requires no KYC, more of them will later request there customers for KYC verification. Nearly all the crypto gambling sites of today are centralized. Although some are claiming to be web3 which you can connect your noncustodial wallet to, which are not centralized. But as for centralized gambling sites, we should not think of them as no KYC gambling sites,
I don't repudiate the idea of KYC requirements by crypto gambling sites as in essence there have been cases where KYC have salvaged gamblers accounts from intruders and hackers.
Quote

there are still few that require no KYC though for low amount withdrawal.
But then this part of your statement caught my interest, like what difference does it make not requesting KYC for low amount of withdrawal but request for a high amount of withdrawal. If a gambling site claims to be totally decentralized land no KYC let them be entirely and not in a cloak based on amount.

1253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there anyone know how many bitcoins disappear forever? on: August 05, 2023, 11:33:05 AM
I recently stumbled upon a Google search, and it caught my attention that newsbtc released a report stating that Six Million BTC Are Out Of Circulation Forever. This suggests that if their report is accurate, six million Bitcoin have been lost. However, I personally think the actual number might be higher, though I cannot confirm the accuracy of the report. It's possible that some of these "out of circulation" Bitcoins could resurface in the future as their owners may be holding them long-term.
Some of those six million worth of bitcoin could have been lost owing to sudden death of the owners maybe a ghastly car accident or some related accident (not only through a lost of private keys by owner) ,and these unfortunate BTC owners in their wallet never exposed their private keys to a trusted family member who could have been able to have access to their wallet to retrieve those BTC from eternal loss.

What can we make of this in relation to increasing clamour for BTC hodlers to keep their private keys completely secret from anyone  not even to family members (under the idea of keeping it safe) due to trust issues.  Accessing this what are the options to avoid forever loss of our BTC if we don't want to let any family member know about our private keys while we're still alive?
1254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Responsibilities of hierarchy in the forum on: August 04, 2023, 07:22:13 PM
I wouldn't be throwing blames on members that invites new persons in the forum both of them has a responsibility to play, and whosoever invited you to the forum has played his one step ahead and it's now left for you to carefully study how the forum works. If an invitee is observant enough they would observe that each section of the forum has a pinned post that explains and describes a lot about that section and what it deal with.

One bad behaviours about we newbies is that most of us are always in a hurry to drop a post instead of reading and learning from already existing threads in the forum. We know the forum is very versatile that not even so many high rankers have gotten a clue of 50% use of the forum so been a higher rank member doesn't mean they know it all. Any newbie that reads a lot from threads in the forum will be well aware of threads that have been made in the forum not to repeat them but when you don't spend time doing so it's easy to making repeated posts that has already been discussed overtime.
1255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there anyone know how many bitcoins disappear forever? on: August 04, 2023, 07:02:35 PM
There's no special place where lost bitcoin can be collected or retrieved other than the use of the very wallet private keys and if the private keys (seed phrase) is lost then your bitcoin in that wallet is lost forever and better be forgotten.
That is why we are advise to safely secure and store or private keys to avoid losing our coins .
1256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stop gambling (sports betting, casino e.t.c)? on: August 04, 2023, 06:30:36 PM
Gambling brings so much joy especially when you're on the winning side, when things are all in your favor it just seems like you should never stop. But when it gets bad, you look for a way to pour out your anger, either on someone or on something.
When someone is addicted to gambling I feel it's worst than one who's addicted to drugs.
Too much winning too can lead to addictive attitude. When a gambler is used to favourable streaks of wins for a period of time haven been lucky for too long forgotten that there's also an opposite side of gambling and then started experiencing series of losses later on, trying to chase those losses based on a one sided winning mentality you might have developed could lead to addiction as you endlessly keep chasing each loss after another, at that point it's very difficult to control oneself as you have already lost control of your gambling limit.

Gambling addiction and drug addiction is of no difference, the two are negative and self destructive so let not give one victim out there a feeling of a better position compared to the other.

Quote

The question is if you're a gambler or have someone who is, what's the best way to help out. And what's your story on escaping that addiction (gambling)...

How do you fight this battle?
Addiction to gambling or drugs is something I fear like hell, and I feel it's that fear that keeps me in check as I go on gambling. IMO, sometimes it's good to create fear about a phenomenon we see as negative to our wellbeing and that avoiding by keeping limits does us a lot better than trying to act brave whereas we're unconsciously falling to it gradually.

1257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My new favorite betting method. on: August 04, 2023, 06:00:35 PM

So, what do you think about this betting method, Has someone tried it in the past?
I wonder how profitable anyone can be using this method of yours.
This betting method of yours is very risky and doubt if there's any good chance of getting a win out of it.  With each bet comes a higher amount with an increasing risk. And when the risk in our bets is very high it's easy to lose it. Why not make it the other way round as with each bet going forward you lower the risk while you make higher the bet amount, the chance of winning in this way is much better
1258  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do wager affect outcomes in any provably fair games on: August 02, 2023, 09:52:24 PM
When playing on a probably fair games there is possibility of result repeating twice or more and as random as it is it has nothing to do with your wagering as a determinant, it was just your lucky day  enjoy it while it last.  Except they are not probably fair games but if they are then anything out of the ordinary is a coincidence just like other members has emphasized. There's no way out previous bets can have any link with the outcome of our next bet. In gambling luck comes in different ways.
1259  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Table] Withdrawal Fees and Withdrawal Amounts on Crypto Casinos on: August 02, 2023, 09:04:54 PM
Not to shit on anyone's favorite casinos but why the heck is FortuneJack demanding users to withdraw at least 150 bucks?
Similar expression I gave when I saw the withdraw limit amount.
Maybe a way to show that they are bigger online casino in the crypto gambling industry and a destination for the bigger boys. What I call levels, and if anyone feel his level is below the withdrawal amount do yourself some food by looking the other way. Lol Grin

What I think is every gambler should always make sure to read ToS of a casino he's to register with, have an idea of their withdrawal limit amount and if it's cool by you then go ahead and if not stay off. But because you aren't cool with it doesn't mean others feel the same.  Some persons will agree with me that 150 bucks for them is such fair amount for withdrawal limit.

1260  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: August 02, 2023, 07:26:05 PM
Thank you @zasad@ for giving me the opportunity  to be interviewed.

1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
I got interested about cryptocurrency two years ago after a close-door seminar I attended through an invite from a colleague. Though before then I have been coming across posts about cryptocurrency on social media platforms but never took interest in reading them but my interest was awakened after attending that very seminar.

2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
I think I bought my first bitcoin a year ago and the whole delay in buying despite given interest was because I wasn't sure enough and had to forge ahead spent time doing my own research. And when I later stumbled on the bitcointalk through a friend I discovered more reasons to be a bitcoin holder.

3. How did you get on the forum?
Through a friend and am thankful to him. Happened when I expressed to him my need for extra means of finance, he told me about the forum and how it could also be a source to expand my knowledge on cryptocurrency since I have developed interest in it

4.1. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?
IMO, two years of experience is good but not enough to depend on for a successful investments. Adding a special crypto knowledge can be an added advantage.

4.2. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
Using my locality as a case study:
* Ignorance and misinformation
*Poor network coverage as a discouragement to many.
*Unfriendly environment posed by the government through restrictive measures, policies and bans.
*Increasing crypto ponzi scam schemes.

4.3. What is the situation with cryptocurrencies in your country? Are there any problems when exchanging for fiat? Which city or place in your country is best suited for cryptocurrency holders?
Looking on the bright side minority of restrictions are gradually been lifted and with time it's possible a lot is going to change.
With the P2P system those supposed problems aren't visible.

I can't be sure if the city I have in mind could be the actual city but, not until a research is conducted about that I prefer not to mention any city to avoid giving wrong information.

4.4. Are you using the Lightning network? If yes, for what purposes?
No for now, am not making use of it but I have colleagues that makes use of it, and it's possible I may have to use it soon.

4.5. Which secure cryptocurrency wallets are you currently using?
I currently use ethereum. I read it's safer, secure and it's newbie friendly (easily to understand and use).

5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns?  Do they harm the forum?
I think the merits system propels members to bring out the best in them giving quality informations, resource and content preventing and discouraging junk posting.

6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
There are a plethora of useful topics that can be found in the forum boards I have visited and picking one among them all is damn hard

There are lots of most helpful users in the forum but I'll mention a few: @Sceptic Chymist, @Cryotovator, @NeuroticFish, @DdmrDdmr, @CryptopreneurBrainBoss, @Fillippone, @JayjuanGee, @Ratimov, and @Royse777.

7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?
There are great convenient features on hand in the forum, and for now I haven't seen a need at the moment. But in the nearest future if I should think of anything I won't hesitate to let it out.

8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
I seldom trade but I consider investment the more to trading.

9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
Sorry, I prefer not to say.
Thank you!

11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
With how the society is getting more insecure each passing day I think anonymity should be of both necessity and precaution for security reasons.

12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
Learn me a bitcoin.
Am still in progress in the reading of it.

13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Bitcoin.
Bitcoin.
Ethereum

14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2023?
From the beginning of the year 2023 I was looking at 100k plus. But keeping bias aside am now looking 45k-50k plus at the end of 2023.
