I'm still in shock to know that USA who are seen as the most preferred team to get into the finals are removed in the round of 16, too bad they couldn't qualify into the next stage and defend the trophy they had a really good performance and were very offensive most of the time  but Sweden really gave them a tough time and kept holding the backline making it uneasy to get the ball into the net, if you noticed the Swedish women weren't really going for a goal because they knew if they had open up it would had been an advantage for the defending champions to press hard with a counter and get a goal but they held the defence line for 90mins even up to an extra time, because they know they stood a good chance of qualifying with a penalty shootout, it suprisenly worked out for them and they're now in the quarter finals, well this is football and anything is possible,let's see if the England team would be able to qualify as well or get kicked out by the Super Falcons because the odds are in favour of them, my most preferred team to win the tournament are out so I'll currently stick with the Japanese team because they're very promising and chances of them winning the tournament is getting higher.

It was indeed a one-sided match in favour of the USA team having missed clear cut scoring chances during the game as the Swedish Women team defended very well Infact they only had there shot on goal in the 85th which indicates a clear USA dominance of the match, Musovic Sweden goalkeeper was very outstanding in the match having made some brilliant saves during the match and penalty shootout, she was awarded the player of the match for her brilliance, unfortunately USA the former World Cup holder lost out via the penalty shootout though Sweden final penalty kick awarded after checking the VAR.

Frankly speaking you're in no way wrong for ascribing the swedish women victory to their goalkeeper, for she saved the day for the team right throughout the 120mins to pks.
Sweden has better team  and Zecira Musovic is the G.O.A.T and probably one of the best goal keeper in the tournament.

The Swedish goalie is beautiful I must say. If there's one thing I have enjoyed in the world cup, it is having to see beautiful sports women sweat for silverware, for patriotism, for money, for passion, for glory.
I was rooting for the American side to win, but when it got to the penalties, I simply concluded on them loosing. I didn't think they where really prepared for this kind of shoot-out, or they did and where exhausted already to find the back of net.

To the S.A side, it was a hard battle and though I would have loved for them to see this stage through to the finals, they sure did represent the African continent on a major scale. First by hosting and second, by making it to this stage. Also Spain did well too, but it is one big reminder to the other teams that any team irrespective of previous glory, can fail, if the team is weaker in more than one position on the field.

I really surprised to watch performance from South African team because I was not expecting defence like this with my prediction was this match is going to end with the score of 4 - 0 or 5 - 0 but at the end have good play from South African which lowest ranked team in this event and face teams like the Netherlands which is currently in top ten teams.

In second half we have good play from the South African because after first half performance things were looking for some action packed half but all gone in balanced way for the both teams now Netherlands is going to face Spain into round of 8 which beats Switzerland in one-sided match by the score of 5 - 1.

Like men teams now African women's are also improving their quality and having good fights against top teams, but currently things are not going as they need to be, but future is surely bright for them and they can do much better in coming years.

As I said before, USA performance has been poor in the last 3 matches, only winning once against a weak team like Vietnam and drew against 2 other teams, overall USA was able to dominate the game but could not score until they were knocked out in a penalty shootout, USA  weakness is the striker imo. England and Colombia will go to the next round Australia and France will follow in the quarter finals so we have 8 teams there, unfortunately Spain and Japan will face each other in the semifinals even though I predict both teams deserve to go to the final.

My prediction is that the winner between Spain vs Japan will face Australia in the final while England still has the potential to surprise but I'm not too sure. I'm not going to bet in this tournament, they sucked me out last week I don't want to be trapped again lol.

I did the same and even bet on Alex Morgan to score but it was a bust.
Portugal's defense was quite good because of the many chances USA got on the other hand, I also like the performance of Pereira and Portugal players who dare to play the ball more than USA in this match.
The second half could have gone Portugal's way if Ana Capeta's shot hadn't hit the bar but unfortunately it ended in a scoreless tie.
With this, the Netherlands are firmly at the top of Group E as they won easily against Vietnam.

It was really a shame for Portugal to leave the World Cup, despite having played well. But, they should have played more against Holland. If Portugal had played a match like the one they played against the USA, maybe now they would still be in the competition.

But, for a team that was at the Worlds for the first time, you just have to leave with pride, and keep working to progress even further.

I'm not surprised about Sweden and the USA, because I've always liked how the girls from Sweden play, Sweden is also a very soccer country and the girls play very well, also the USA have good technique, they didn't lose so badly, a taking a penalty or going out for a penalty is not so embarrassing, also what surprises me here is that Colombia has been advancing a lot, the South Americans have done a great job and that is something that I like a lot, because they have already beaten Jamaica and eliminated to Brazil and that's not just anything, the Cololmbnioanas have eliminated the Germans and it's not just any thing, the German girls have a great team and that makes things in this World Cup go in a direction that nobody expected.

Everyone is surprised by the USA, but what? This is normal, this is soccer, many expected the USA to wipe out Sweden, but it was not like that, I liked this result and it is proof that this World Cup things are on another level.

Nice to see so many upsets happening in this edition of the women's world cup. No one really expected that Sweden will be able to defeat the United States. Now Sweden fill be facing Japan in the quarter-finals. And we may still get a few more upsets. There is a match between France and Morocco coming up, and Morocco is quite famous for getting upset wins. And in this tournament so far, they already have one to their name (vs Colombia). The match between England and Nigeria is also going to be very interesting.
