i don't know how long or even why this downtrend is lasting but if you really think the downtrend is going to last until March then the obvious choice is to cut your losses NOW before the bottom is reached and you are left with nearly nothing!

it depends on what you are calling buy price and sell price.
when doing arbitrage you usually want to buy immediately and then sell immediately on another exchange. you don't want to place an order and wait for it to get filled or not because it may never be filled. so you have to buy/sell at market price to the order book.

this means you buy from the highest ASK and sell to the highest BID. now go check again and see what is the highest ASK price for steem on poloniex on top of the sell order book. and then check what is the highest BID in HitBTC on top of the buy order book. if the numbers checked out go to second step...

check if the deposit/withdrawals of both exchanges are working. maybe HitBTC doesn't allow Steem deposits which is why the price of it is already high, or maybe Polo doesn't have any Steem in their wallet.

if you ask me i am still going to give the same advice i gave last year: bitcoin is a very good investment and buying at any price is very profitable in long term but at the same time it is very risky to invest in bitcoin.

and according to your other comment you invested in altcoins, they are even riskier than bitcoin. i personally don't care about them in long term at all. when i invest in altcoins i expect them getting dumped on me at any moment.

my plans are not to make money today only and be done with it. for that reason i will be accumulating bitcoin. what this means is that i buy, i earn, i make profit,... and hold it all in my cold storage. but from time to time when price shoots up like when it nearly reached $20k i sell something to not only enjoy the huge profit that i gained but also to have some more money ready to buy back the big dip.

and in long term i will be having a lot more bitcoins instead of having money. and in long term with bitcoin price being a lot higher than these silly numbers people are going to say "it was not fair that you got rich and we didn't because we were lazy and panicky when you were not".

good points specially the second one. i always tell people to stick to only a small number of coins and unfortunately i keep seeing people with long lists of coins they have invested in for some weird reason! i have actually seen someone who held about 50 different coins and tokens and was waiting to become rich but in reality he was losing more money that one normally does.

to be honest this doesn't sound right to me! specially when it says "ditch PayPal" because we have to admit with all its shortcoming you can not just drop something that people are using and want to use.

in case you have missed the past 5-6 years that is the most normal thing to happen. bitcoin drops a little and altcoins drop a lot. it is not new. and that is first because dumping $1000 on bitcoin is not like dumping $1000 of an altcoin. the same amount can kill an altcoin whereas it is nothing for bitcoin.
second the panic in altcoins is a lot fiercer than the panic in bitcoin. people still believe in the future of bitcoin and it still has usage even if its price goes down. but the ONLY usage of altcoins is to go up and when they fail at that they become 100% useless.

when you started that thread price was exactly at the bottom. it was actually recovering after a bottom and price was $8045 and then it not only didn't fall but instead it went up to $11400 in one big rise then continued to the ATH!

i would wait a little longer though.
right now the market is pretty much unpredictable. many say it will fall more and we will have a long bear market but at the same time many others say it is the dip for the next leg up to reach a new ATH.

i say i am a BitcoinHodler, i am going to HODL for the time being and when things became clearer then i start making decisions about what to do with my extra cash.

these are the things to consider about XRB:
- it is a good project with a nice technology used in it which gives it pretty interesting features such as free transactions, fast transactions,...
- the price of it is pretty low meaning it has a lot of room to grow. because unlike the expensive altcoins, these cheap ones are always easy to pump.
- recently it was re-branded to a better name "Nano" and that always means a big pump on the way which was actually started and leads to next point:
- this coin has already had a rise so you won't be early for investing in it.
- i am also interested to know when it will be listed on Binance. it can help with the big pump.

i say yes it is worth it because historically it was shown that when coins like this (with previously good potential of rise) do a rebrand to change their shitty name to a better one (Nano in this case) they get pumped hard. and the pump lasts a while. it has already started.
i saw the rise a while back didn't know what it was now i know that those with insider information started buying it then the news came out and everyone started FOMO buying.

the shakeout of newbies is taking longer than it usually takes. and number of people who buy the dip has grown a lot but the market is still small and the whales have been growing so huge in the past years with all the panic sellers. so they can easily make money like this.

i was watching the market today and what i realized is that the price keeps coming back up with a lot of buyers but then a sudden dump happens into the risen price crashing it back down below $10k and pushes it lower. it is like 1000 people buying bitcoin then 1 person dumping it down and others follow it after at the bottom.

as a merchant when selling something you should consider what your users want. do your customers own cryptocurrencies? do they own litecoin or bitcoin or monero or ...? are they willing to spend it on your product or are they just holding it?

adding a LTC payment system may cost you more (like wasting server resources,...) than the number of people who might buy your product using it.
