12401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 14, 2021, 02:55:46 AM
Didn't watch the game but heard about Azharuddin's inning. Harsha Bhogle literally had a boner when talking this player  Grin. I checked the teams roaster and its good to see that almost every IPL local/national players representing their respective states, even likes of Sikhar, Ishant, Raina, Bhuvi, Chahar etc.

The over-rated Mumbai bowlers had a meltdown. After 10 overs, the Kerala total was like 150 or so. Some of the commentators were talking about the upcoming IPL auction and Azharuddin's prospects of getting selected by one of the franchises. He needs to perform consistently in the remaining matches to have a chance for that. His first-class and List A averages are in the 20s, and this points to inconsistency.
12402  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown due to covid19 is painful on: January 13, 2021, 04:36:01 AM
It will be painful 4 months for most countries since they will not be able to vaccinate enough people before start of Spring. In May lock downs will stop and economic recovery will finally start. It will take years that economy will get to January 2020 level.

In another month or so, the winter season in the Northern hemisphere will end and that will naturally cause a reduction in the number of new cases. Vaccination is progressing at a very slow pace and therefore I am not expecting it to have a major impact anytime soon. Till now, only 30 million vaccine shots have been administered, out of a global population of 7.7 billion. It is going to take another 6-7 months before we witness the first signs of the vaccination impact.
12403  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will we ever get another 7th Jan 2018 Alt Season? on: January 13, 2021, 04:25:56 AM
Back in 2018, the alt season occurred primarily because of the ICO hype. Also, large number of investors went for various altcoins such as XRP, ETH and ADA, because they looked cheaper when compared to Bitcoin. The investors were hoping for higher returns by investing in new coins. But by late-2018 most of these coins had lost as much as 95% of their value. Those who made their investments back then are not going to do the same mistake again.
12404  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 13, 2021, 04:15:10 AM
Price tag is different in every league. Last time i checked back in 2018-19 PSL per franchise purse was less than $2 million. So i doubt if anyone want to spend millions on single player, no matter how big they are. Maximum amount would be around $200k, even this price looks high to me.

Duration of the tournament also matters. A regular player in the IPL is expected to play a minimum of 14 matches, while in the PSL it is much less. IPL stretches for almost two months, while the PSL will be completed in one month. And looking at the salaries of the other leagues such as the BBL and the BPL, I have to say that those in PSL doesn't look too bad.
12405  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: again a Bitcoin millionaire who forgot his password on: January 13, 2021, 04:05:08 AM
Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more.  Think of it as a donation to everyone.

Well... this is very much true. Bitcoin offers a lot of advantages to its users, but also comes with a few riders. If you don't know how to backup your coins, then you should not hold BTC. The problem is that many of these early investors purchased their coins when they were really cheap, and then forgot about them. Now with the prices having increased to five digits, they want to cash out. I still remember the story about a guy in the United Kingdom, who threw out the hard drive containing BTC15,000 in a rubbish dump, and then spent months looking for it.
12406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: January 13, 2021, 03:51:39 AM
Only one team has to dominate the Bundesliga. The team is Bayern Munich. But only one team is not dominant in the English Premier League. If you look at the points table of EPL, you can see that at least 5 teams are standing with almost the same point in the points table. As a result, the Premier League is the most competitive. But ISL's situation is completely different, it is easy to predict that, which team will be the champion.

The situation has changed in EPL, but previously teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United used to dominate the league. And then on the other end we have teams such as West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United who face relegation. But all these leagues have a promotion/relegation system, which weeds out the weakest teams. It will be better if the ISL also goes for such a system.
12407  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla overtake Amazon? on: January 13, 2021, 03:39:17 AM
Tesla hasn't overtaken Amazon yet.  You can see that the current Tesla market cap is around $ 834.17B while Amazon market cap is around $ 1.6T.  Tesla is predicted to overtake Amazon in the next few years when the world is relying on electric vehicles (not now)..
I agree here because headline of this thread is misleading its nothing serious business who is rich and how much worth because stock exchange cane change things very quickly and its still many things can happen with this all but good thing after looking top ranked companies we have bitcoin in good place and this can go more high in coming days.

I guess the OP put some fake news to use as a clickbait. The first part of his post is correct and Elon Musk is the richest person in the world right now. But the claim that Tesla is the world's most valuable company is just BS. As far as I can see, Tesla is not even in the top-5 list. The top five corporations by market cap are - PetroChina, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
12408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG !!!!! You BitCoin people were right. I wish I had bought back in March :( on: January 13, 2021, 03:29:19 AM
How about...you were wrong in 2015 and you wish you would have bought in 2016??  OMG

Then what prevents you from going all the way back to 2010, when it was possible to purchase 1,000 BTC for just $1 from New Liberty Standard? I am quite sure that there will be lot of people regretting the fact that they didn't purchased BTC in 2021, after a couple of years. IMO, there is no point in talking about the lost opportunities in the past. We should focus on the future, because everyone knows that the future potential looks very bright for Bitcoin.
12409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 13, 2021, 03:19:12 AM
The ICC should take necessary steps to spread cricket to other countries. And to co-operate with countries that are already playing cricket but not in a good position. Cooperating with countries like Ireland, Kenya, Zimbabwe UAE. But I think ICC is not fulfilling their responsibilities properly. Teams like Kenya are losing. The ICC should bring them back to cricket. I think organizing more and more series between these teams. For now, this is the solution I think.

When Shashank Manohar became the ICC chairman, he tried to help the associate nations and was able to slow down the slide for sometime. But with Greg Barclay as the new chairman, this support has ended. IMO, the biggest issue with ICC is that it is being managed by greedy people like Barclay who doesn't have any connection to cricket. On the other hand, sports bodies such as FIFA are being managed by the former international players and they always prioritize the popularity of the sport over money.
12410  Economy / Economics / Re: The recent rise in prices, temporary or more long term? on: January 13, 2021, 03:08:11 AM
The recent rally in cryptocurrency prices came at a time when there was a decline in the purchasing power of the US Dollar, as a result of stimulus and other governmental measures. And with Joe Biden taking charge in a week's time, we can expect further devaluation of the USD. He is already finalizing his plans for another $3 trillion stimulus. Also, a rally for Bitcoin was due ever since the last block reward halving event.
12411  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 13, 2021, 02:58:51 AM
^^^ I would really love to see Natarajan make his debut, but then it depends on Damaadji. If he prefers Kuldeep Yadav for the final test, then Natarajan may need to wait some more time for his test debut. All that said, I have a feeling that India needs a left-arm pacer right now. It will add more variety to their pace attack, which is looking quite homogenous nowadays.
If Ashwin is fit to play then including Kuldeep doesn't make much sense on fast-bouncy track. Shashtri is nutjob but i guess he understand this clearly. They must be brainstorming on Saha's role though.

Check this:

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/india-in-australia/india-vs-australia-held-back-in-oz-for-nets-washington-sundar-may-play-gabba-test-jasprit-bumrah-out/articleshow/80230619.cms

TOI is saying that Washington Sundar may make his debut. Officially he is not a part of the squad, but was asked to stay back in Australia after the ODI/T20I series.  And there is still no confirmation regarding Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin. As per the media, they are being considered as 50/50 probabilities. I don't think that including two spinners (Ashwin and Sundar) is a good idea. I would have rather included Natarajan.

Quote
The playing eleven, for now, is expected to be on the following lines: Shubhman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (WK), Mayank Agarwal / Prithvi Shaw, R Ashwin, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Shardul Thakur.
12412  Economy / Speculation / Re: Michael Saylor goes nuts: he predicts a $15 million Bitcoin price. on: January 12, 2021, 07:00:18 AM
These wild predictions are cues of an impending market crash.  Not saying that price won't happen, but that's a stupid prediction to be making at this point.

Obviously when someone is making such crazy predictions without much logic behind it, I usually ignore them. But there were a few high quality predictions regarding the future Bitcoin prices recently. One of them was from Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou (JPMorgan Chase & Co.). He made a prediction of $146,000 based on a study which compared gold and Bitcoin. Another quality prediction was made by Tom Fitzpatrick (Citigroup Inc.), who predicted $318,000 based on a technical technical analysis of prior highs and lows. And most importantly, these predictions ere made before the current rally.
12413  Economy / Economics / Re: Some Company are holding more than 10000 Bitcoin on: January 12, 2021, 06:46:13 AM
Man, I was wondering what would happen to the stock of some of these companies (the ones that are public) if bitcoin had a correction or, heaven forbid, crashed.

If I'm not mistaken, bitcoin dropped a few thousand USD in the past day or so, yet the 6-month chart for MicroStrategy is looking pretty damn good

That is, if there was a correction. The last time I checked, Bitcoin prices were back to $36,000 per coin (24 hours back, it was trading at $31,000). Look at the pace at which the prices have recovered. It can't get any more clear than this. There will be no correction for the next few weeks at least. Demand is outstripping the supply by a large margin and even if some whale dumps a large amount of BTC, the prices will recover in a day or two.
12414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin ever be use as other country currency on: January 12, 2021, 06:35:20 AM
Can Bitcoin ever be use as other country currency and it will still maintain it decentralized digital currency?

The governments prefer to have their own national currencies, so that they can print banknotes whenever there is a need. With the controlled supply principle of Bitcoin, that is not possible. Some of the countries have allowed foreign currencies to be used within their jurisdiction on extremely rare occasions (an example is that of Zimbabwe after the Zimbabwe Dollar was withdrawn), but in normal circumstances they will not allow that.
12415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people avoid bitcoin? on: January 12, 2021, 06:25:29 AM
When I asked a few friends if they heard about bitcoin, the first thing that entered their minds is the word "scam". Many people shy away from what they perceived as scams and just want to move along without researching what it is and how it works. Anyway, if you are going to see the good side of that, it only means that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general can stay as a niche thing and only a few percent of Earth's population would be able to participate to it.

Can't blame anyone. When I heard about Bitcoin for the first time (in 2013), I was also thinking the same. It is not that easy to convince people, especially those who have lose their money on various online scams and Ponzis. But nowadays the attitude has become more positive, perhaps as a result of more favorable coverage from the mainstream media. But that is going to last only until the next major correction.
12416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 12, 2021, 06:15:20 AM
I agree with you. Many of their talented and skilled players are now on the brink of retirement. They will retire in a few years. And now they fail to find young talented players. we will not get any good performance from them in the next few years. Maybe Ireland will lose like Kenya

Well.. I have no doubt about it. Ireland is a dying team. Even test nations such as Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka are going down the drain, and it will be difficult for smaller teams such as Ireland to survive. What happened to Kenya will repeat, perhaps for the last time (after this there won't be any teams like Kenya and Ireland). Two factors have led to the demise of cricket in the smaller nations. The ICC financial model now heavily favors the top 3-4 sides, with associate nations only getting the crumbs. And secondly, the representation law was changed to allow foreigners to represent national sides. Now richer teams like UAE and Oman are importing players directly from India and Pakistan and smaller teams such as Ireland are unable to compete against them.
12417  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown due to covid19 is painful on: January 12, 2021, 06:05:47 AM
I don't really trust those vaccines as of now, since it is the first time that it is being manufactured. There's a new strain of covid out there spreading, I know that because I am watching new and this new strain is really dangerous and can infect other people faster, I don't know what are the new symptoms but as far as I know, it is still affecting the immune system of a person. What I am doing now is that I am keeping myself clean every time and keeping myself indoor.

Obviously it is the first time that a vaccine against the Coronavirus is being manufactured. The reason is that Coronavirus was unknown to the scientists before 2019. But the vaccine manufacturers (Pfizer, Moderna, Gamaleya Research Institute, Sinopharm.etc) are quite experienced in this field and previously they have invented a numerous vaccines against various viruses, and most of them work very efficiently on humans.
12418  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: January 12, 2021, 05:53:42 AM
Mumbai City won today's match 1-0. ATK Mohun Bagan did not play well today. I was disappointed to see them play. Ball possession Mumbai City 67% and Mohun Bagan only 33%. Moreover, the Mohun Bagan has done only 1 on target shot while Mumbai City has done 5  on-target shots. It is now clear that Mumbai CIty is a much stronger and more stable team than Mohun Bagan in this season. I hope Mumbai City will win the title this time.

I have followed the ISL for so many years and the point table never looked this much weird. Mumbai City is at the top with 25 points from 10 matches. They have won 8 out of their 10 matches. On the second spot we have ATK Mohun Bagan with 20 points. On the third place, it is Hyderabad FC with 15 points from 10 matches. Can you believe it? 10 point difference between the first placed and third placed teams!
12419  Economy / Economics / Re: IF USDT would collapse what do you think will happen to the BTC price? on: January 12, 2021, 05:40:59 AM
Well... here is the problem. If they use their reserve funds to purchase BTC, then how they can claim that USDT is fully backed up with USD?

They aren't claiming that anymore.  They haven't been for some time now.  I thought people knew that?

OK. So they are no longer claiming that their tokens are fully backed up with real USD. Great! And most of the people continue to hold USDT, despite knowing that these tokens are not fully backed up. In that case, if USDT becomes worthless and everyone loses their money, then they should just blame themselves. And meanwhile the USDT market capitalization has jumped to $24.2 billion. They are just creating money out of thin air.
12420  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - February 20 on: January 12, 2021, 05:29:25 AM
He is actually a boxer:
https://www.essentiallysports.com/boxing-news-jake-paul-vs-logan-paul-who-is-the-better-boxer/

with professional record of;
https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/896698

Its 0 wins and have a loss not being counted. What in the world for people to believe that Logan will defeat a boxer which does have 50 wins without loss?

Well. His only "professional" fight is against Olajide William Olatunji (KSI), which was regarded as an exhibition match by most of the boxing fans. So I will not give much importance to these stats. He is an amateur and he lost his match against another amateur boxer. Technically I don't think that he can be called as a professional boxer. For all those Logan Paul fans, feel free to bet in his favor. It is a good way of wealth redistribution, IMO.
