12461  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 12, 2015, 09:28:51 AM
Well bitwisdom is now going up not down in it's estimate.

Bitcoin Difficulty:    40,640,955,017
Estimated Next Difficulty:    43,746,172,612 (+7.64%)
Adjust time:    After 67 Blocks, About 10.8 hours

Safe to say this will be a 7 percent unless it gets a lot of hash power and goes to 8.
12462  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SHUT DOWN ALL BITCOIN MINERS TODAY Jan 12, 2015 18:00:00 (UTC) till 19:00:00 on: January 12, 2015, 09:26:20 AM
Well if all did this we would not hit the next difficulty as the block would never be solved.  I could be wrong but i think it would cause the blockchain to stop, stopping everything.
12463  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 12, 2015, 02:54:08 AM
I hope we get in 6 percent but with less then a day left looking like low 7's

Bitcoin Difficulty:    40,640,955,017
Estimated Next Difficulty:    43,575,522,670 (+7.22%)
Adjust time:    After 100 Blocks, About 16.1 hours

So was a little bit of a weird week with such a huge variance but looks like it will end up not great but decent considering.
12464  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Issues connecting to web interface with antminers on: January 12, 2015, 02:45:21 AM
I am pretty new to mining and am hoping you guys can help me with an odd issue I am having. I am currently running an antminer s1 and s3 (upgraded from a s1) on wifi and didn't have much difficulty setting them up. The s1 has an IP address of 192.168.1.243 and the s3 has 192.168.1.244. Both of the IP addresses are outside of my DHCP scope(192.168.1.1 is my router). I am completely unable to connect to the s3's web interface unless I run an ethernet cord from my PC to it and it is very hit or miss with the s1, some days I can connect to it and others I can't. According to my pool's site these miners are up and running.

If they are static it does not matter if outside dhcp as long as its the 192.168.1.X the static address's you mention should work.  What wireless adapter are you using? Is it pulling 1 IP for it or 2 (one for each miner)?
12465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Coin to Mine with a GPU on: January 12, 2015, 12:07:30 AM
Sadly GPU just costs so much you mine at a loss anymore.   There would have to be a new coin or one go up a lot in value to make it worth while.

If you have multiple GPU machine you are most likely better off selling the GPU's and buying coins with money.
12466  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 11, 2015, 10:34:15 PM
Desert and low humidity... look into evaporative cooling. Water, pump, wet pad and fan and you are good to go!
I read that they got ~25c constant in mining farms in china with this style cooling! In the desert!

Hvac for miners has to be few times larger than for simple home use... not really worth!

The mining farms very GREATLY on quality.   Most of them it's airflow that is the key.  Moving old air out and new air in.   If you do it wrong it gets to hot and any miner with temp sensor can have lots of trouble.  Big fans and big exhusts can be very important at data center level. (Also depends on miner something such as the 1T dragon shoot out very hot air, some new miners can do a lot less heat)
12467  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 11, 2015, 10:07:39 PM
Is it a bit doomed the mining?

I mean price is down!
new efficient miners are coming, resulting in diff jumps...

It's winter and they are good heaters(i'm but naked because of them Grin) but wtf are we going to do in the summer time?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?

We are going to have some interesting time this spring and and so on...

Maybe the price will go so much down that they will ''stop'' making new hardware and the diff will stay about the same all year...

I'm done when summer comes. I live in the desert and the added heat from minining last summer killed my old A/C unit and I had to replace it. Even my supplemental Tripplite server cooler died. The only thing that survived was my portable evaporative cooler. Winter electrical rates are great but they end in April.

The good news, miners provided 100% of my heat so far this winter. But I have gas heat so it hasn't significantly reduced my electric bill.

Yea that is the problem with summer.  Ambient heat can cause some real headaches on heat exhaust.   You have to factor in duct work exhaust or even more expensive AC cooling.
12468  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 11, 2015, 08:14:19 PM
I seen that 6 fan mod as well, digging through my scrap parts now for more fans Smiley and my wife criticizes me for my piles of old computers hahaha

I have a odd number with only adding two.  I thought about adding a third on backside but with winter air it really does not make a lot of difference Smiley. Maybe during summer I will add the last one.
12469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: a list of who matters in Bitcoin on: January 11, 2015, 08:10:58 PM
Coindesk has a good list it by far is not all that do just some very big names with reasons why: http://www.coindesk.com/10-influential-people-bitcoin-year/

It's a interesting read.
12470  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 11, 2015, 08:05:53 PM
@ davejh

Need to study the math you used, but if correct margin is very tight for a big miner.

A small guy may say fuck it I will list my 10 s-3's on ebay cheap get 1000 usd back and buy a pair of sp20's.

I agree electricity price is one of the biggest factors on many thins including upgrades.  With my around 9 cent I can't bring myself to sell my S3's yet.  I keep miners longer then a lot probley do.  I just finally sold my dragon.  And the person who bought it got a good machine that just needed cheaper electric costs.

I really don't want to change out gear to much during winter.  Once summer comes and i need to do more cooling is when I personally will have decisions on what I want to do.
12471  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 11, 2015, 07:58:54 PM
I added 2 fans for the fun of it on opposite side of radiator.  It seems to make it a little cooler.   The fan's i used are cheap (free after rebate) i had laying around.   I'm sure you could do a lot better on fan quality and see even cooler results.
12472  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 29 to Approx Jan 12th diff thread (4%) to (7%) on: January 11, 2015, 03:01:27 PM
make it 250$ and 0% diff! Grin

some big ass farms full of old miners must be off...

There are a lot of A1 (dragons) that I expect a lot to be getting rid of by some data centers.  They are great machines just used two much power for my electricity rate.  I just sold mine to someone with lower electricity rates.

And it's looking like it will be somewhere in 6 percent still on change:

The Miner Link is not released yet it turns out, I will test it after release.

Initial day and seven hours ran very smooth at default settings achieving average speed of: 1,153.18 GH/s

Testing at different frequencies should happen in the days to come.

I have been looking at miner link on the S5.   I could use a little help if possible.

Looking at it is the UID is your Bitmain email on account?

Also on Server Addr what should it be set to?

Thanks for any help.

Its not quite ready yet, more info will appear here once its ready.

Thank you very much for info.

Would not be surprising 4T +.  But I don't see it doing it for 1000 watts.

I see the UID is email registered.

Any help on Server Addr?

My miner link will not turn on I'm sure I'm doing it wrong.
12477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Computer Security Basics.... on: January 11, 2015, 01:01:19 AM
Get a good antivirus and malware protection.  This is one of the biggest protections.  Also don't download files that promise faucet bots, free btc, etc.  I think a lot of security is common sense.

As far as your wallet keep it in cold storage or paper wallet.  Only keep what you need weekly or so in hot wallet. If using hot wallet or online always have 2 factor authentication on. With paper wallet don't print in public/work print at home also use your internet at home for this not a public wifi.

Then there is storage of your private key.  If you use a usb keep it safe! Also you can do physical storae, my signature campaign i'm in actually is one.  You put private key in a coin.  You again need to treat it like gold and store safely.

12479  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Overclocking an AntMiner C1... on: January 11, 2015, 12:41:01 AM
Just like the others you go to miner configuration with in it advanced settings.  Once you go there the freq and voltage can be changed.

Advanced warning overclocking voids warranty.
