Images of those no longer among us (as far as we know).

12506  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there any new info on Bitcoinica? on: November 10, 2012, 05:42:47 AM
Haven't been keeping up, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing the new claim period, if that does indeed happen.

thx

At least we know the coins are safe and sound at/in Mt Gox, tucked neatly to the side and not being used for no other purposes. The same way your money is stored at the bank in your savings account. The bank holds it, and when you're ready to retrieve it, they hand you back the exact same money you deposited, thus proving that the whole while it resided in the vault, it wasn't used for anything else.

Now that your concern has been address, kindly lock this thread before the trolls get here.

In response to most of the comments above, you do realize that at least one of the two pictured above is a Bitcoiner, don't you? Therefore, able to pay the meters with bitcoins if such a system were in place. But even having a thumb drive full of bitcoins in pocket, doesn't mean the meters would be fed. Same true for fiat. If you watched the video, you would have seen a screenshot of addresses where his (wife's) car was parked when Officer Friendly dole out the winner tickets.

(Why accept pre-orders though if you can sell the product once it is ready for shipment if that is the case? Why not a standard pre-order down payment if you only wished to know how the market demand was for your product?)

Your questions are right to the point. Why accept preorders with full up-front payment if you're not in need of capital to produce whatever you're producing?

They also state that they have not used any pre-order funds. So that means every penny is safe.

BFL never answered if this meant the first month of preorders or all of them. So there is a possibility not every penny is safe. After all, if they go belly-up, it's not their problem anymore. They tried and they failed.

I'm pretty sure that the costs associated with 65nm ASIC production could not be covered by their profits alone. They claim they received VC capital, but no additional information has been provided on this matter.

In Sandwich, IL, when a business mysteriously burns down while struggling financially, the cause is referred to as Albanian lightning.

Bad news! Ever since farmers started assigning one goat to each cow, cow tipping has become a thing of the past.

Especially since you'll be shipping product in about 4 weeks.
Correction: 4-6 weeks.

Did I miss this announcement, or does ckolivas know something that we don't?

I guess he would have a better idea than most, since he will/has receive a dev unit.

Could you elaborate on how you know BFL won't be shipping for 4-6 weeks?

I don't know about that, but the dude has his own Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Con_Kolivas

Even Gavin doesn't have one of those.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /var/www/bitcoin/smf/adrotate.php on line 98

Someone fucked goxxed up a php script.

Then when I edited my post here and added the second line, Google Chrome closed when I clicked the post button. I see that the post did take though and I have edited for grammar just now. Let me see what happens when I click post again.

2 coins enter, 1 coin leaves.

In Bitspace, no one can hear you scam.

Bitcoin is like a box of chocolates... ...you never know what you’re gonna get.

Zhou Tong, we've got a problem.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in Bitcoinica.

Be afraid.Be very afraid.

Nice coin. We’ll take it!

We're gonna need a bigger blockchain.
