12541  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there any chance of getting 1 Btc of less than 1000$ again? on: July 12, 2019, 05:25:02 PM
Is there any chance of getting 1 Btc of less than 1000$ again?
Provably if we see any flash crash in any exchange.
Here is how it will work if you want to catch up with this:

There are at least 10+ reputed exchanges. Set stop-lose order at $1000 in each of the exchanges and by any chance, if this event happen then you might get lucky. Keep your money at your own risk coz some of these exchanges or may be all of them may get hacked (legitimately or set up) and take your money from you. No bitcoins no money left for you if that happens. 🤪

In a serious note: We never know the future move for Bitcoin. So, it is very hard to tell if that price is possible. You need to study bitcoins a lot more to avoid looking for answers of these kind of questions.

Most big volume exchanges already prevent this though, as far as I know. I've in the past tried my luck with setting silly orders like that but there's always some evil bot on those exchanges who will switch 1 sat or 1 cent above/below me just so I will likely never get it even if a crash/spike did occur.

Other option is to set up a trade on p2p and hope some sucker accepts. I hear it has actually happened, poor sellers.

I did back Tunisia (and you know they're like pretty high up in FIFA ranking so they were always going to beat Madagascar... but there were no sad faces for the islanders, getting this far was incredible.

Finally getting into gear, 4 draws and now this big 3-0 win, but they will be no more "easy" teams left. Algeria also expected to go through, but another dull penalty shootout.

Senegal have got to be the favourites to reach the final, and they're good enough to beat any of the 3 teams left. Neutrals should be hoping for them too. See you guys in 2 days time!
12543  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-12]BitFunder CEO Gets 14 Months Prison Time on: July 12, 2019, 01:03:36 PM
Obstruction of justice seems pretty bad enough as far as white-collar crime goes, I think it's the state or the judge that determines if it's indictable offence or just summary offence (in US, the equivalent is a misdemeanour) -- looks like the former in this case. It's a deterrent so people cooperate with enforcement to seek as swift as possible outcomes.

Anyway, if he had realised the hack, and yet allowed people to continue depositing, as it seems he did, then yeah, he was paying off old user withdrawals with new people's funds. Not with his own or their own. That's ponzi-like. 14 months is a bit, but it doesn't seem like he's saddled with debts after that, I'd say he got off lightly.
12544  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +13000 units on: July 12, 2019, 12:00:44 PM
Ouchie. Them Irish did get their luck, securing a 2-2 away draw is really special, but it wasn't enough to win us the bet.

It's been a long time since we took on Tennis but I see a good parlay in the shape of Serena Williams and Fedex, who shockingly (heh) is the underdog to Nadal. Serena's game is tomorrow though, so this won't settle hopefully by then!

But because we're an ambitious lot, we'll do an odd parlay for a friendly win for League One Coventry against midtable finishers League Two's Northampton.

Game 1: Northampton Town-Coventry City. Coventry WIN @2.15. BCR odds: 2.11
Game 2: Nadal vs Federer. Fedex WIN @2.18. BCR odds: 2.23
Game 3: Williams vs Halep. Williams WIN @1.52. BCR odds: 1.50
100 units parlay at Betcoin @7.1242. BCR parlay: 7.0579

Odds advantage: 0.94%
Units advantage: 6.63

Running advantage after 21 bets: +682.22 (+6.63)
All-time cumulative: +13,006.74
Running units after 20 bets (4W|16L): +458.87 (-100 units)
12545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any way of getting money from empty bitcoin addresses other than clam on: July 12, 2019, 09:22:30 AM
Honestly, I'd rather say none of the effort is worth it, at least not at this time being. Pooya's link is one of the best, other than BCH, which I sold off long ago haha, all the other coins COMBINED don't even come to $70 for every BTC you owned at the fork. I wager much, MUCH less after fees from exchanges, if you can even have enough to withdraw at most of those exchanges listing the fork!
12546  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: July 12, 2019, 07:38:54 AM
As DarkDays points out, and as others constantly say, yes, these are minnows, but a lot of clubs have rich history, not just the Liverpools and the Ajaxs and the Bayerns. My own local club in my eyes has such a rich vein of history, even though we have only a few honours to our name. I remember the players, the coaches, the games, even if not many do.

I think even Trofo or someone else once said it is still possible to find great games and great clubs with huge atmospheres in the less fancied stadiums and I totally agree. Remember what an impression the Icelandic fans had at World Cup? I bet you, if a minnow like Europa FC make it to group stages, cue scenes of delirium in Gibraltar.

BTW, my pick of Shamrock Rovers did themselves proud didn't they? I still lost the bet but hey, 2 away goals!

@LTU see how hard it is for favs to win? Of your 6 picks, THREE failed to win!
12547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stuck and need help on: July 12, 2019, 07:19:44 AM
And confirmed about 2 hours after your last post.

Block that included the transaction was found by BTC.com, too, which could suggest that submitting your tx to the antpool accelerator worked, especially since mempool was about as big as during the time it was submitted (30k), but I guess there's no real way of finding out.

But it's more likely it was the CPFP, since they were included in the same blocks. Either way it worked!
12548  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: July 11, 2019, 01:38:39 PM
43 matches will be played today in Europa league qualifiers. Mostly we will see smaller and less known teams playing. But I will post few my bets.
Riteriai win vs Klaksvik @1.77, Hapoel Beer Sheva win vs Laci @1.35, Domzale win vs Balzan @1.47, Brann win vs Shamrock Rovers @1.5, Debrecen win vs Kukes @1.38 and Haugesund win vs Cliftonville @1.63.
I'm not going to play with big money today because betting on such games is quite risky and we already saw some big surprises in previous days.

I hardly ever play with big money, and for me big is even $50 to $100! AND I don't post them here either, call me superstitious but I post my beer money bets only. And it's not even really beer money, it's really money I'm prepared to lose. I find the $5 bets are a lot more enjoyable than $50!

On to the games though, I have a hard time making my picks too. Precious little to dig up from the news on team preps from these leagues but I actually chose the underdog in one of yours. Shamrock Rovers are from a scrappy league (Ireland) but they are in the thick of 2nd spot in their league with shitty form, 1 win and 2 losses in the past 5 games.

Brann are in a much better league but are scrambling in 5th and equally poor form. Of course they should have better quality still being in a more competitive league that actually has a Champs League spot haha, but still, luck of the Irish?
12549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Cup Of Nations 2019 - Discussion Thread on: July 11, 2019, 12:45:44 PM
Wow, the Lord of football (lol) has done it for us once again. South Africa outplayed us although we (Nigeria) had more shots & on target shots than they did (South Africa team). Nigeria came into the game with a defensive mindset and it almost backfired after South Africa equalize at the 71st minutes with the help from VAR although after successive corners for the Nigeria team, they got gifted a goal due to defensive mistakes from the SA defenders and our defensive player (Ekong) kneed the ball into the net at the 89th minute.  Congratulations to us we advance to the semi-finals with a 2-1 win over South Africa, this was a close one.

Well done to you! I really wasn't expecting them to park against S Africa too and I'm glad you also thought they were lucky. But still, a deserved victory for not slacking at the end, you should book tickets to the final Wink

Now can Madagascar do it? It's crazy to think an island team is in the QF against mainlanders, I wasn't serious when I said fairy tale for them but the verve they've been showing, plenty of good goals and spirit from the East Africans.

But I'm with LFC, Senegal still the pick of the tourney, playing without fear. Mane scoring and assisting left and right. He missed 2 penalties and gave away the responsibility but he's still in contention for MVP (is there even one at AFCON?) IMO.

Be great too if they won it, be their first time!
12550  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Removing Electrum and Exodus Wallets on my Computer? on: July 11, 2019, 11:34:51 AM
If you're truly worried that these old files could one day find their way into a capable hacker's hands, then why not just identify all your remaining assets, and sweep them ALL into a new wallet, and then you only store that?

Then it won't matter anymore if someone manages to restore any old wallets, they'll all be empty. Of course, there will be that sweep tx that will let them know the new wallets.

I would actually recommend you do this anyway if you've been using these wallets since before electrum 2.7, chances are your wallet's . Your chance to upgrade to Segwit or even native Segwit =)
12551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Stuck and need help on: July 11, 2019, 10:47:25 AM
Perfect time to test and see if any of the old accelerators still work! I just put your tx through Antpool's (free) accelerator, it must have been over a year since I last used but it still seems to work as before. Accepted the tx but no way of knowing if they really do line it up. We'll know if this confirms later and it's in an Antpool block I guess, not that that's confirmation it worked?

20 hour old transaction with pool at 30k unconfirmed... of which 23k are 1-2 sat/byte in fees.

OP is just promote his site, just look at his post history : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2329711;sa=showPosts

yeah, he crawled out of the speculation board into the main board for advertising. what i am curious about is whether anybody have ever bothered paying him any money. it is not just that selling this kind of services like this doesn't interest anybody but also because he is dead wrong about all his speculations and so far topics that i have seen from him where he was guessing a price has been way off the mark!

I've always been curious myself: what makes people think others would want to pay them money for snake oil that repeatedly proves itself to be poison, and even more curious, what actually makes people pay for it?!

Out of that curiosity I took up several "Free promos" for these paid groups. Trials, and what not. Most never even responded or muted me when presented with proof that they actually lost money. One particular one did respond by saying I "literally" chose the worst possible 3 months for a trial. This same guy has messaged me probably 5 more times in the past year warning me his Paid Group is closing for good to new members.

People should just pick micgoosen's threads and follow that prediction;)

Nigeria broke me heart, but Senegal had such a tough time getting over the line, even Mane was frustrated towards the end. Good to see my boy in the Semis now though, and I suppose Nigeria always deserved a place after the improvements since the opening matches.

But boy did Tajikistan play, Syria's having a really poor run of form since WC qualifiers, and after them winning against DPRK, they'll feel really down about this. But glad we got on the right end of that upset!

We're doing well with upsets, and Europa League is here. I'm going to bet on the second-placed Irish Prem team to beat a 5th placed Norwegian Prem team.

100 units on Shamrock Rovers to WIN vs SK BRann @6.46. Betcoin odds: 6.03

Odds advantage: 8.93%

12554  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Win a free dinner in the sky with slot game provider Endorphina in Amsterdam! on: July 10, 2019, 04:45:40 PM
I think I know the place, and got to say it's really not that impressive, but I suppose the canals round and about the city are somewhat unique. I guess I'm just not really into urban Instagrammables.

People who can afford Amsterdam probably won't go for this lucky pick. People who can't, wouldn't want to pay for the (expensive) trip. And yeah, @Saint Loup bitterballen never worth it =p
12555  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-09] Bitstamp introduces a Lightning Network node on their exchange on: July 10, 2019, 02:04:52 PM

Would be nice to see more exchanges doing this as they might stop with the ridiculous tx avalanche that clogs the main chain whenever there is a price movement. Coinbase would better do the same soon, but they are always lagging behind when it comes to these things, even batching transactions took them a while.

Haha yeah, was about to say hoping exchanges hop on board with upgrade adoptions is pretty optimistic. It's been well over a year for most normal people now using Segwit, exchanges used all sorts of excuses with that and until today I can count only 2 services (1 is an exchange but not for trading strictly) using native Segwit.

I say good for Bitstamp. Sure, people talk about centralisation issues but Bitcoin nodes had that at the beginning too. Takes time.
12556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Cup Of Nations 2019 - Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2019, 12:07:54 PM
A lot of people are hyping this Salah guy, and a lot of people are saying that Egypt might carry the cup, but I don't really think so.

You're late to the party, get updated. Egypt is already out sadly, no trophy for salah also Nigeria won Cameron 3 goals to 2. That means we only won by just one goal scored by iwobi. Speaking of your bet, are you forgetting Algeria? I doubt any team depending on a star payer will make it into the final as Africa games are mostly physical games meaning once they isolate the star player, the team losses (that's what South Africa did to Egypt). This competition needs a collective team effort that doesn't depend on one player that's why my bet is on Nigeria.

Obviously one of those posters just posting for the sake of it. Bitcoin discussion threads with people who probably never use Bitcoin. Gambling discussion threads with people who probably don't place any bets. And right at the bottom of the pile people who don't even follow the games and come in with worthless comments.

I was wrong about the Super Eagles though, but I hope I'm right about South Africa tonight for the second time in a row. They overcame Egypt, arguably a tougher opponent, and they did beat Nigeria already last month! Either way, good luck to you guys, you're absolutely right about AFCON being about physicality, which is something I do enjoy. Here's my $6 bet on S Africa though at just over 4/1.
12557  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2019, 10:21:37 AM
@leea @swog Yeah, I know some people think these whipping boys shouldn't be in the group stages even, because of the gulf in quality but we've to remember some of them are actually competing with a fraction of the resources of the big clubs, so even qualifying appearances give them some extra money they could really do with, plus the exposure to compete across borders in club competitions.

Liverpool and England were banned from Europe before and they took a long time to re-establish themselves, so we know it's important to have these competitions as widely open to access as possible without diminishing the prestige and quality. I thought the idea of a breakaway league was terrible it should just be a balance carefully maintained.

And look at clubs like RS Belgrade shaming Liverpool last season. Or Young Boys smacking Juventus. I love these games.

P.S. I got one of my underdogs right last night (hooray Armenia) but I had to parlay it with Crvena Zvezda heh heh.
12558  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Cafe on: July 10, 2019, 08:35:48 AM

Ironic, isn't it that here comes a Bitcoin Cafe but you can not spend your bitcoin in there just use your fiat to have your coffee served fast. I agree that this is the reminder for the people and the government to soon change their mindset on cryptocurrency before it is too late. I am sure that bitcoin and cryptocurrency can be helping a lot of people in Bangladesh and the government can be able to collect additional taxes from the business. I am suggesting that people who are into cryptocurrency in this country band themselves together and make some allies with people of the government who are sympathetic to the cause.

More like a travesty than an irony, but I guess that's how I feel. Getting quite numb to it to be honest, the daily ironies I have come to see, almost might say I'm normalised to the situation now:

1. Bitcoin cafes that don't accept Bitcoin.
2. Bitcoin accepting merchants that never actually see a single satoshi come their way.
3. Bitcoin traders who've never sent a single transaction (bought and sold everything in a platform)
4. Bitcoin investors who don't have access to their Bitcoin (no private keys, paid a broker to own a certificate that says they've bitcoin)
12559  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +12508 units on: July 10, 2019, 05:42:15 AM
I have to hate myself sometimes!

Got the first parlay totally wrong, backed the wrong upset. And the second parlay my Armenian underdog won (in all honesty courtesy a silly red card from the opponent made it easier) but Suduva held on for the draw amazingly.

I feel like taking a number of bets today, so I'll update this post if I see some good value but we'll kick off with a simple parlay in the AFCON. Can South Africa create another upset? They no longer have the physical advantage but this is the wobbly Nigeria who almost lost to Cameroon AND also lost to S Africa earlier in the group stage exactly a month ago:

Game 1: Senegal-Benin. Senegal WIN @1.44. BCR odds: 1.42
Game 2: Nigeria vs South Africa. S Africa WIN @4.53. BCR odds: 4.3
100 units parlay at Betcoin @6.5232. BCR parlay: 6.106

Odds advantage: 6.83%
Units advantage: 41.72

Syria has another friendly, but I'm shocked Tajikistan is rated so lowly, especially when they put 4 past India. I'll back them again to win this one. 100 units at Betcoin for Tajikistan to WIN vs Syria @7.54. Other bookie odds: 6.88.

Odds advantage: 8.93%
Units advantage: 66

Running advantage after 19 bets: +632.59 (+107.72)
All-time cumulative: +12,957.11
Running units after 17 bets (3W|14L): +4.87 (-200 units)

I actually wouldn't like to claim credit for anyone who bought Bitcoin because of me, but I'm happy to say I've converted more than 10 past and present clients of mine (I'm a freelancer) to at least try a Bitcoin transaction, offering 5% discount off my rates, just to get them to pay my invoice. I still offer the discount, but I no longer have permanent fiat-paying clients =)

Reason I never tell people to buy is because I don't want to ever tell people how to make financial decisions. However, my first ever Bitcoin buy because of me happened just over a week ago:
