It's hard to predict something, but in a normal market, it's almost impossible to see 1k again unless a really big bad news or a scam, something like that

Flash crashes aside, if the price ever goes that low (globally, not on one exchange with some issues), it would probably be the end of Bitcoin. As it would be the 2nd biggest decline in BTC price historically (the largest one was in 2011 when the price went $32->$2), with the whole ecosystem more mature now, there would probably be good reasons for people losing confidence in Bitcoin, and it might not see a recovery.

Well, if Bitcoin did not go down to $1k even when it was on the road from $20k to $3k, I don't think the chances are high. However, I also don't think it matters. People want Bitcoin to go down so that they can buy it cheaper and profit more. But now still IS the time to buy it cheaply. Bitcoin is still very new and perspective, it can reach a lot in the following years. And people used to think that $500 was too much, $1k was too much, and once will be wrong thinking that $20k is too much. The price won't fix this attitude. If you believe in Bitcoin and have the money you can afford to lose, you can go for it at any point, and you're likely to win eventually.

There's a high possibility that bitcoin won't see the light of $1000 anymore. Even the road to sub-$3000 was so hard to break, so judging by the events of the 2018 correction, it simply isn't going to happen, or should I say it will be extremely hard for that to happen (as of course, bitcoin is highly unpredictable). Even I would want to see that happen and check how would things pan out, and of course grab a couple of coins again for the long run.

That is exactly where bitcoin is headed, and you can clearly see this in the confirmed and verified data, especially Chinese and Russian data sources, which are more robust and accurate on all the time-lines and technical analysis charting algorithms. The thing is, when (not if) bitcoin reaches $1,000 again, you won't want to buy it. Shorting is going to be the longer term play for bitcoin as it dives toward $0.

But I don't think that it will happen to all exchanges because every exchange will try to hold the price not to drop deeper so they can lift the price to the price before. Bitcoin is a speculative asset so everything is possible, we didn't see the price crashing down hard to $3200 right? But the thing is as more speculators getting inside the ecosystem, it's going to be difficult to see the price going below $1000. In order to achieved that there should be a catalyst, however, we endure so many bumps along the way that it is hard to imagine people not going to buy and stock more Bitcoin if we even touches $2000. It's possible but less likely to happen, IMHO.

People first speculated about the possibility of seeing sub $100 levels ever again, and now we're at stage two, which is whether or not we'll see sub $1000 levels ever again. Next stage is seeing threads speculate about sub $10,000 levels, and then after some time the same could happen when we're well above the $100,000 level.

I don't think about could this or that lower level be ever seen again. I don't have to. If we see a ridiculously low price level I'll just buy in and get more coins for the same amount of fiat.

Other than speculation what else can we tell here, he just want to invest if the price goes down to those levels, if the price were to go down to those levels the bear market we had last year would have taken the price to those levels and we never saw those levels and the possibility of going back to those levels are remote, as everyone mentioned flash crashes could be a possibility other than that you need to have a time machine to get the coins from those levels  , people are speculating that the price would reach new levels in the upcoming rally and OP is dreaming about $1k levels  .

Most big volume exchanges already prevent this though, as far as I know. I've in the past tried my luck with setting silly orders like that but there's always some evil bot on those exchanges who will switch 1 sat or 1 cent above/below me just so I will likely never get it even if a crash/spike did occur.

Other option is to set up a trade on p2p and hope some sucker accepts. I hear it has actually happened, poor sellers.

What data sources? Can you cite them? I can agree about the 2nd part, if it ever gets this bad, this will probably be the end of BTC and it will keep diving lower and lower.

i assume you mean a limit buy order at $1000. that's the thing about this---you need to keep fiat on the exchange and let it sit for a long, long time, all for an unlikely chance. for most people, it's smarter to trade that capital, or just buy coins.

i caught the btc-e flash crash in 2014. that was a glorious moment. probably the last time i'll ever get the chance. gdax had a couple awesome flash crashes in ETH a couple years ago but i had no dollars at the time.....
