12561  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IRS claims it has LOST two years' worth of emails from former official Lerner on: November 10, 2014, 03:47:44 AM
I think, though that instead of endorsing a "spirit of hopelessness" as to the realistic ability to enact significant change and a return to the rule of law, various IRS and AJ officials should be targeted for impeachment.

I am not suggesting any targeting of people who cannot be shown or proven to engage in unlawful behavior, though.  Offhand I don't know if IRS officials remaining have evidence against them that rises to this level.

Holder and Lerner have fled.  Many others would (and should) and perhaps this would set an atmosphere in which these administrative agencies would do better than just grovel at the feet of the wanna be king.
It is not easy to impeach a government official. Even when the evidence is there, the process will turn out to be a political one and the democrats will likely try to stonewall any impeachment (as they have the investigation into the IRS) and would likely vote against impeachment regardless of any evidence presented.

This is not necessarily true.  You are suggesting that rank and file Democrats would line up and protect IRS administrators, who (assuming guilt for the minute) acted illegally although on suggestion to do so by the White House.

The guilt is of the IRS administrator strictly.

Democrats should fear the possibility that the next administration may well be Republican and would use the same tactics against them.  It is only necessary to pick up 60 votes in the Senate to do this.

I view it as appropriate and just if in fact IRS adminstrators can be proven guilty.

This is very different than suggesting impeach Obama.
12562  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: November 10, 2014, 03:42:03 AM
There had been a number of cases when someone would get sick and then claim to have just gotten back from Africa only to have their claim debunked by the lack of travel records and confirmation by their employer that they have been at work, in the US, during the time they claimed to have been traveling.

What a bizarre claim. Do you have any evidence for this?
Not bizarre.  Stockholm Syndrome at work.

Just like when a serial murderer is being sought, various nutjobs call in and claim to be him.
12563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation to repair relationship with community on: November 10, 2014, 12:18:15 AM
this is a joke. how does people even buy all this soft communication crap?

Quote
Developing a sustainable business model so that bitcoin's development isn't at the mercy of bitcoin price swings. This should also help align the Foundation's future with the value it is providing to the community.

business model? lmao.
This is extremely dangerous thinking and comments.  It appears to indicate that Murck thinks he/the Foundation/Somebody should regulate the price of Bitcoin, instead of the market.
In turn in some fantasy world the community would appreciate this "service" that the BF has "provided."

12564  Other / Politics & Society / Re: An eye opening about Climate change that need to be shared with you. It's FUN on: November 09, 2014, 10:59:06 PM
climate change caused by...

Very pretty sentences but not backed up by facts or science, it's witchcraft!

We are still in Ice Age and CO2 levels can go up tremendously without affecting life

The climate has changed throughout the earth’s history ....
We are still in the Ice Age and variations of a degree over a decade doesn't prove much and has been happening for billions of years

The Global Warming fantasy hysteria has made for some pretty cool plots for movies.
....Why?  Why are these so dumb and insipid?
Let's have ..... Sharknado ......
.....
Climate is very hard to predict and if you mix media, politics and fame if you talk about global warming you get a group of guys to say very loudly things that are not back up by science, be smart and do your due diligence please!
Awe come on.

Just think...It's all our fault, our nasty SUVs.  That caused global warming and the sharks grew wings and cruise the air.  They are a threat only to smaller airplanes.  But when they get hungry....

It will rain sharks and they are hungry and eat us.
12565  Other / Politics & Society / Re: An eye opening about Climate change that need to be shared with you. It's FUN on: November 09, 2014, 10:57:10 PM
climate change caused by the behavior or activity conducted by excessive yag man against the universe, the establishment of chemical factories that produce smoke and CO2, causing thinning of the ozone layer, the use of cooling alamt fron the home we also result in the depletion of the ozone layer, the depletion of the ozone layer ate climate change on the planet earth was going on, like a greenhouse, there will be global warming on the earth, the melting of ice at the north pole and south resulted in rising sea levels, and flooding everywhere
hopefully our awareness of global warming and climate change more and more, so that we do not engage in activities that could lead to global warming ...  Roll Eyes
Hey Dhani, I don't think that's right.

Ozone, no problem.
Greenhouse, nope.
Rising sea levels and flooding everywhere, nope.

Those are all predictions that didn't work out.

They are all ideas now being used to scare people into paying taxes.
12566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yes or No! on: November 09, 2014, 05:19:22 AM
Many prominent Bitcoin developers are actively in collusion with members of law enforcement and seeking approval from government legislators. We believe this is not in Bitcoin users’ self-interest, and instead serves wealthy business interests that make up the self-titled Bitcoin Foundation.

not really.

if the bitcoin foundation was involved in regulation. then why would they move their office out of new york and into london when the threat of New york regulations were made. if they were in approval of such regulations, they would not be running away to avoid the future restrictions
They did not do this in that sequence.  The issue of Bitlicense came up considerably later.

12567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to create OFFLINE Transaction? on: November 09, 2014, 02:00:01 AM
Private key is converted into public key from one way cryptography thereafter it is used to sign transaction etc etc. Is it possible to create a offline transction?

I mean do all necessary things offline then it would result in some "lengthy random string" which can only be understand and processed by network. Once that lengthy random string is made we can convert into some hash of 32 bytes. Then write it on paper and then decrypt '32 bit hash'  with computer connected to internet to yield "lengthy random string" which can be broadcast to network?

I don't know much about cryptography. But, I think. It is possible. How can I do it to ensure security of my private key?

First, start with a private key that you are the only one who knows.  Test it.

Pay zero attention to others who assume that you have a private key and it is secure.  Where did it come from?  A wallet someone told you to trust?

It is not hard to make a private key.

Global warming could make your pollen allergies a lot worse

It’s notoriously difficult to make people care about climate change. ....

So the global warming that hasn't happened in 20 years has some effects that haven't happened?

12571  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoins are sexist on: November 08, 2014, 11:11:11 PM
Think of it!

Bitcoins are famous for prostitution or pornography!

I think we need to solve this problem by:

** Taxing white males by 600%
** Applying background checks to every Satoshi owned by privileged males
** Making sexism illegal

People also hire hitmen using Bitcoin, that can be solved by:

** Making murder illegal
You know the evil is in the coin not the user, just like guns.

12572  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New York State Continues Its Path To Regulating Virtual Currency on: November 08, 2014, 09:12:43 PM
New York is trying to protect consumers and prevent illegal activity by regulating cryptocurrency.

http://www.ibtimes.com/bitcoin-new-york-state-continues-its-path-regulating-virtual-currency-1721103

“There has to be a way for startups to start up and play by the rules without getting crushed by huge compliance costs,” Benjamin Lawsky, head of the state’s Department of Financial Services, said Sunday at a conference in Las Vegas.

Yes, Lawsky.

They are welcome to just move to Texas.

Like many of your totalitarian state's residents already have.
12573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CODY WILSON PLANS TO DESTROY THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION on: November 08, 2014, 09:10:40 PM

...if you want to join an organization with the intent to destroy it, you might find you are not allowed to join. Duh. Such a childish, immature stunt. He has proven he is capable of doing useful work; I hope he continues to focus his energies on something useful, not total BS like this.

I don't think he is under any delusion that he will be successful in becoming a board member. If you haven't caught on, this is indeed a "publicity stunt" in order to start a discussion. He is already successful as we can see and this conversation is just getting started.

Iconoclasm serves a very useful function in society and very much needed here. We are not talking about a few bad apples or incidents but systemic problems starting with the bylaws themselves.

Logically, there would seem to be zero wrongness with the idea of advocating and promoting a decentralized protocol by disbanding a group that was devoted to centralizing (destroying) a decentralized protocol.

I'd say, let that group refuse him, or refuse to let him on the board.  Make them show their true colors.
12574  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: If virtual currency is taxed, why not tax sex, it is also a means of exchange... on: November 08, 2014, 02:17:19 PM
Favors, like sex, are also a means of exchange. What is legally the difference between taxing virtual currency and taxing sex?

There is no difference because you're thinking about it incorrectly.

The IRS taxes INCOME. The IRS -- and most taxing agencies in the world -- define income extremely broadly. If you receive non-monetary favors in lieu of money to do something, you're still supposed to report that as income (if you don't know the monetary value of the favor, you make a reasonable guesstimate). If your sex is in exchange for a $1000 watch, then you report an income of $1000.

So the IRS is not taxing the medium of exchange directly; it is taxing however the value of the income you received in the exchange.
Correct.

But don't forget this.

If you don't report the value of the income, then the IRS may come out and seize your property.  But in this case, the seizure would be of sexual favors.....

12575  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The American president's addiction to king-like power must end on: November 08, 2014, 01:55:04 PM
....
This is why I can't take anything you say seriously. You get a small factual detail, then blow it up and misconstrue it to be something it's not in an attempt to prove your conspiracy theory. Now it's the FACT that his college records are not public, which you have taken to mean it's under court-ordered seal (it's not) and therefore he's the most secretive POTUS in US history. (Opinion is based on something not true, which renders the opinion dismissable.)
The problem with your assertion is that as you have already been told, repeatedly, I don't have a conspiracy theory.  You've been repeatedly trying to throw conspiracies out and see if any stuck.  That's an attempt to re frame the argument into a strawman argument that you could then knock down as ridiculous.

Here is my original comment which I stand by 100%:

I can't help but wonder about his legacy, after his 8 years he's out, can we then find out some of the background mystery data?

Kind of like cans of SPAM.  You always wonder, what is that mystery meat?

You immediately tried and are still trying to conjure up a conspiracy to laugh at:

Are you referring to where he was born? Because that's such a toothless conspiracy theory.

12576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CODY WILSON PLANS TO DESTROY THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION on: November 08, 2014, 01:47:03 PM
Self-promotion stunt from Cody?

Doubt he'll get a single vote. Voting is done by members. To become a member, you need to pay annual fee ranging $1,000 - $100,000. Don't think anyone who paid will be voting to disband TBF.
Huh?  I thought it was like $25 or something.

$25/annum or $250 lifetime is for individual members, but don't think they can vote. ....

Yeah, they vote for the individual member board position.  That is what is coming up and that is what Cody proposes running for.
12577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bruno's accusations against Patrick Murck on: November 08, 2014, 01:43:25 PM
Cody Wilson plans destroying from inside now this thread with accusation? Hints like THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION election ahead.
 Is it so?
When is next election going to happen?

Sometime in January.
Minor problem here Gleb.

Your assertion is a tautological truth.

Patrick Murck of The Bitcoin Foundation accused of pedophilia with young girls.

That's your assertion.  Because you made it, it is true.

If this is a game, it is a very mean game.
12578  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bruno Kucinskas will run for TBF board seat, running on Cody Wilson's platform. on: November 08, 2014, 04:45:32 AM
apologies for not adding a third or forth or fifth G, of which, by all accounts, you'd have issue with that as well.....
Well, that would have been a good idea.  You could go back and edit your posts and fix that, even now.

Just to keep simple minds from being confused.  But these days they think everything is racist anyway, what's the difference?
12579  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Republicans take the Senate on: November 08, 2014, 04:24:56 AM
The Democrat party voted for the Iraq war all the same as the Republicans did, and the rank-and-file dems had access to the same intelligence files as Bush did.

Let's get real, shall we?

1.  Party affiliation of POTUS during WW1.  D.
2.  Party affiliation of POTUS during WW2.  D.
3.  Party affiliation of POTUS during the Korean war.  D.
4.  Party affiliation of POTUS during the Vietnam war. D.

I guess "get real" means trying to think things out from facts, or better still, from first premises, and not just spouting a party line spin.

No, clearly "get real" means misconstrue as meaningful historical coincidence, and ignore all historical context so you can attempt to prove a shallow point.
Huh?  The basis of the argument was Repubs not Dems are Warniks, right?

Fraid I am not seeing evidence to support that.

Perhaps I misinterpreted the response. It seemed to me you were attempting to disprove it by just listing the party affiliation of the POTUS during four arbitrarily selected wars. This doesn't make sense because WWI and WWII had declarations of war, which means the party affiliation of the POTUS is irrelevant, because it's Congress that decided to go to send troops somewhere, not the President. Therefore, you're left with a list of party affiliations of the POTUS during a biasedly-picked sample of US wars, which ignores all historical context surrounding the wars in attempt to draw significance and a correlation from coincidence. In other words, the list doesn't prove what you want it to.

Not to say I disagree with your point, I believe Democrats are just as war-happy as Republicans. My point was just your list doesn't support that conclusion because the party affiliation of the POTUS is not directly related to the war.
Actually I think we are in agreement, mostly.

The spin I was objecting to was as I understood it "Republicans Like War", with implicit that Dems do not like it or are somehow morally superior.

Utter nonsense.

However, I didn't pick some biased sample, I just went right down the list of major wars of the 20th century and simply listed the party of the Commanders in Chief.  I guess a valid rebuttal might be "Yeah but since 1990...."

Apparently, Air Force decided to remove the requirement on the same day as the article came out. http://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20140917/NEWS/309170066/Air-Force-nixes-help-me-God-requirement-oaths

I really think this thread is much ado about nothing.  Many phrases are ingrained in language itself, and are used commonly and flippantly, and have no meaning such as the OP alleges.  That is a cultural heritage.

And FYI, English isn't so bad.  Try Spanish, see how many slang and common phrases "invoke the Deity".
