1261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hardware Sales Tax bought outside of U.S.A on: April 20, 2016, 02:15:14 AM
maybe the law changed i have never been charged sales buying imports maybe import taxes , i know i read some place they were trying to change that what state Arkansas sales tax some thing doesn't seem right but dealing with custom is a pain any way if the seller and or shipper mess up the order on the paper work then you eat it .according to that he bought it in Arkansas but if he bought it form bitmain direct  hows that poss it was a import right  ? . like i said the US was tiring to change that maybe they did for 2016 he being hit for it now i never really understood some of the stuff customs seems to do and try my best to not order out of the US .

it does say

Please provide a description of the items purchased, and any sales tax exemption that you think might be applicable. If the items purchased are not exempt, Arkansas Compensating Use Tax is due on the purchase.

Ive heard some bad story's about packages being marked wrong for custom even below 2500 .  SO GL i hope he fixes it .

Your right each state in the US has it's own sells tax unlike other places in the World.  guess hes luckly it wasn't one of them with a 8 % st

was trying to offer some possibility , i know that feeling of getting those kind of letters and you thought you had it all covered .

Most stories are coded wrong, and can be fixed after with carrier.   If he has to pay that is bad luck or bad error.   I can say I have not ordered to AR though.   But I would contact the company you shipped with as they likely are ones to report this.    Ask what it is coded as and check around board what others had in similar incidents.  As most I think got recoded and paid much less if any.

Only one I have had to pay was Bitmain shipped a PSU with a weight lower then actual weight.  I was charged the difference in price of shipping for a more heavy item.. which I found to be fair.

I also am curious on what carrier he used.  Please add more to story OP.

*edited to not be so long look above for entire post
Proof of identity? I don't think anyone has ever openly shown who they are.

I personally would not loan with identity as collateral.  But some do use that in part for a loan, BTCJam is a big example of people confirming things about themself for a loan (I am not pushing for this site I hate their policy of not helping with default of loans, they just give you the persons info).

Most will want altcoins or something. But someone might give based on identity if very small amount, I would not but some might.
1263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHICH BITCOIN WALLET IS THE MOST GOOD AND CONVINENCY on: April 19, 2016, 08:32:04 PM
The most convenient are the mobile wallets, because you can use them everywhere easily. Of course they are not the most secure and risk free, too.

You should do your own research and decide what is best for you

Exactly different wallets have different features and you should choose according to your convenience I am using multibit at a moment but when I need to convert it to fiat I transfer it to localbitcoins.

Concern the localbitcoin. Is the site tested and trusted cos I don't want to get scam.

Localbitcoins has been around for a while now, I think the only people you need to worry about trusting there are the people your trading bitcoin with.

It is still more of a exchange (yes one without people providing info as it's users want to be anonymous in most cases).  But read new's about storing on exchanges there are just to many bad stories and hacks to store on a exchange and believe your safe.  Only one that I can think of different is coinbase due to it's insurance policy.

But you really should use a good hot wallet for short term spending.  And a good cold wallet or hardware wallet for long term.

Thanks for the advice, must admit I am guilty of keeping most of my bitcoin (epecially alt-currencies) on exhanges.

Probably a habit I should break, it's just a lot more convenient when I'm trading. I keep meaning to learn how to make paper wallets (securely)....

Exchanges make it really easy to do with so many wallets all on one site.  They do such a good job many use it to store altcoin's long term.  But at end of day it is a hot wallet.  Not only that it's a huge target many "bad people" target exchanges knowing about amount stored there.

Glad to hear you and hopefully others switch to a more secure storage vs standard exchange with ton's of alt-coins.
1264  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper Wallets on: April 19, 2016, 08:29:16 PM
Oh ? What is Paper Wallet! ? How to use that? How to Create that wallet?

Paper wallet is bitcoin wallet where you can hold your bitcoins with private keys of your wallet and only visible with public key and QR Code for scan your wallet at any time and have bitcoins.

Also store paper wallets in some place safe.   I really like safety deposit box at bank, as you have bank level security.   I was talking to my local one they offered the very smallest one for like 16 bucks a year.  So crazy good price due to it being very small.  But that is all you need for a paper wallet.

I highly suggest others look at local banks even for storage for a copy.

I do not go for a single deposit box option. Store the Bitcoin address and the private keys in two separate banks for instance {which might sound like it is overkill} but what will happen if Bitcoin goes

mainstream and your single Bitcoin is worth $ 1 000 000? The $16 per year, is a small investment, if you consider that those Bitcoin might be valued at a much higher price in the future. If a box gets

compromised, the people cannot do anything, if the address cannot be matched to the private key.  Grin Grin Grin

Splitting it between 2 is not a bad idea, I think it's going to be overkill for most though.  But if you have a lot stored in cold wallet it does make sense.

I don't go for the 1 million number.  There is a entire thread about that.  If we even hit 10,000 I would consider huge win.  Heck 1k short term would be nice even.  But with amount of bitcoin out there, and that will be generated 1 million will never happen even if we get mass adoption.

I see a lot of small post's but no signature... so not sure on if they would ban due to content.   ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=307241;sa=showPosts ).   OP did you try to reset account through secret question or anything? What does ban message say?

Permabans remove all profile info including signature.

Thanks hilariousandco! I learned something new today.  Appreciate you telling me this.  OP I think this confirms reason you had a lot of low quality post, and worst is the one liners like the one that you ban evaded and posted that took  took 5 lines to say 7 words that added nothing.  Doing that with a signature is pretty much guarantee of a ban.

I would suggest take a few months off, don't ban evade and start new account (they will catch you and it will not help your case).  But after a few months come back ans say you learned lesson and ask for un-ban in meta and send a email.  But waiting I think is key as right now I don't think it will happen.
1267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: April 19, 2016, 06:33:17 PM
Hi, i have a problem with a miner: it only shows the temp of two boards, the central one is NOT showed. What can i do to fix this??

Thanks!!

If it's mining fine, do nothing. You have a bad a temp sensor I guess. I wouldn't be too worried since you two good sensor ... the unit will detect if it is overheating or not.

I have asked before with bitmain and as long as you have a good sensor they say you should be good.  This goes all the way back to S3 day's they were happy if just one was working, so in your case with 2 you should be fine as even if another failed still have one.

You only really need one for it to shutdown if it get's to hot.  But  I know the feeling getting a new one and seeing one dead my first time I got that I thought was something to worry and it's not.  Your MUCH better off running it then going weeks possibly without a hashing board for a temp sensor (and I don't think they would take a RMA for just temp sensor anyways).
1268  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 14 to Apr 28? picks are now open.... prize = 0.2 btc on: April 19, 2016, 06:29:02 PM
I'm still trying to decide bitwisdom appears to be going up slightly:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    178,678,307,672
Estimated Next Difficulty:    189,237,496,919 (+5.91%)
Adjust time:    After 1225 Blocks, About 8.3 days
Hashrate(?):    1,326,355,111 GH/s

We are in high 429's so could be some sell walls on 430 and make it a slow run to get above again (assuming it keeps slowly going up).
1269  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S7? LOL on: April 19, 2016, 06:27:06 PM
After 2 months of posting this, the 280X still seems like a much better alternative to the S7, even though the S7 is about $500 now instead of $800.

The 280X makes only 70% from what it made back in Feb 10th, so I guess after the huge pump and huge difficulty increase, its still pretty impressive.

The thing that scares me is people chase profit who make asic chips.  There were X11's being ran that we did not know about when the asics were made, due to keeping them private.   Now you can buy an asic that does X11 due to them being used and they already made money back selling is just a bonus.

I think if ETH remains profitable you can count on someone trying to make asic chips for it.  How long it takes.. and if it remains private we will not know.  But I hate that possibility of dropping money on GPU and an asic can come out and blow it away.
1270  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: April 19, 2016, 02:02:22 AM
Did bot just reset?  I had a decent amount of posts just disappear with new payment date showing now I believe.  I don't see a payment for posts either.

PM sent about it.  But still look forward to CoinsBank sig campaign to start. Thanks for making those already in campaign not have to re-apply.
1271  Other / Meta / Re: Please open banned on: April 19, 2016, 01:55:02 AM
I've tried to find relevant information to your ban but with no success. You will have to wait for one of the global moderators to notice your thread. Just make sure that you don't post outside of this thread (else you will get permanently banned).

Ouch you are right 4 post already of ban evasion - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=822770;sa=showPosts .  It appears he hit up loans, and games board before coming here to ask about ban.  Even on the ban evasion some can seem as small one liners as shown below:

wow nice prize.. sir ..

good luck all

You can see the spacing he took 5 lines to say 7 words.  And they added nothing to thread.  I would highly suggest OP if post if it does not add content to thread.  No reason to post what I call one liners.   And as said above he should be posting no where after a current ban.
1272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easiest and fastest way of buying Bitcoin on: April 18, 2016, 11:50:52 PM
I need to buy bitcoin and fast with credit card.
Which service is the most reliable? can you guys give me some tips?

fastest should be circle if you have an international credit card, but I don't know if will be the cheapest, make sure to check all the fees and taxes you'll pay

I also like coinbase depending on level you can get some instant.  And can at least buy and lock in on a price as you wait on them to get money from account if big amount of BTC.  Some don't like it due to KYC rules, but it's a great way if your going to be buying/selling coins in US.

And it's insurance policy on coins in it's hands is far better then most exchanges.
1273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: April 18, 2016, 11:46:17 PM
You can get them on ebay. Although they are expensive for what they are. I saved a bit of money getting one from www.eyeboot.com (klintay on this forum). Only reason I didn't save a lot was down to Royal Mail sticking an £8 handling charge for dealing with customs. Although I didn't get the choice to deal with them myself.
Yeh got mine R1 from klintay to, great guy.

They are worth it if using U3's.  With CrazyGuy's custom firmware when I had 3 U3's and before had to reset multiple times a day 50 dollars even now I would easily pay again not to have to fix zombies so often.

I still have one I need to see how it's doing after return due to person thought it was a good router when bought it(if your looking for a AP connecting multiple devices... get a real router).  Still on my project list to see if still works after return and reset it.

I repay and My account back but ,  i open ( sorry sanerin  bla bla ble ble)

😭😭😥

I'm going to guess it's due to posting in games area espically - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=307241;sa=showPosts:

11. on post appears to be deleted by mod it was "OMG congratulations dude"

i love happy hours 💕💕

But a mod will have to confirm.  But those kind of posts are one liners that don't add anything.  So decent chance looking at posts due to lack of content on posting.

1276  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: April 18, 2016, 08:31:18 PM
I think you can make it very easily if you are into trading as trading allows us to make good profits in quick time but I think you need good amount of investment to start off.

You need to be more specific as trading is a HUGE topic.  Are you saying altcoin trading? If so it's high risk and high reward.  A lot lose many coins that go after altcoin trading.

Just to many pump/dump coins.  And long term a lot just fail.  So I would go into more details of what you mean and the risk level.  No way to gain 1 BTC is "very easy" or everyone would do it... and it would have so many people it would not be worth doing.

For some reason over last few day's people have not been signing messages.  I HIGHLY suggest people go back to using the method of posting address and signing message.  It helps prove you own address, always verifys the ability of singing.  I would hate to post a address and find out when need to get it back you cannot sign with it.

Shorena has a great thread on signing  message - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0  But here is a quote from a few pages back.  I HIGHLY suggest people start going back to like this vs just posting address:

staking my address and sign message:

btc address:
19c8Nf7ruFPZ6xANGDKKbkuRN3e8YXVgCy

sign message:
Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
this is jak1 from bitcointalk and today's date is 4/8/2016
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
[19c8Nf7ruFPZ6xANGDKKbkuRN3e8YXVgCy]
H9LiG21aSnvdgIFft8HrTCyXfl5RU/7QSxBHKIcHC/ZGA3I1creBiUxprCPFlnpsnsVD7p02EAO0lgKo04roXGI=
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

That above is a good way to stake a address
1279  Other / Meta / Re: Is selling against the rule? Mods pls answer. on: April 18, 2016, 08:17:22 PM
Selling is not against the rule  What is against is selling items which are illegally obtained.

How are you sure the Uber rides are illegal.

It is assumed unless he could provide proof they are not.  His "friend" has been on forums and a picture of referral page is not enough showing he can referral people.   He needs to show accounts he was selling used such method from within account, and show these were accounts being sold.  Even if he did ... it is still against Uber's TOS.

But most of the uber rides were cracked/hacked and that is why they were taken off digital sales.  They sold rides for a few dollars... which I'm guessing this one falls under I'm not a mod so cannot see.  If you sell rides for 20 dollars and it's up to 20... would be much more believable on possible legit.  But when you sell unlimited for a few dollars... one would again assume illegal methods.

But It would take a mod to be able to see thread at this point/know what happens.  And this person from other thread also had ban evasion... so even if cleared of this offense he is not likely to get un-banned. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1439136.0 .  They are starting new thread to leave out info such as this (I would guess)
1280  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My Rig keeps Dying (((HELP ME))) on: April 18, 2016, 08:10:27 PM
ok I will go in to more detail the one that works has been running for over a week with out dyeing,

the faulty one can some times stop working after a few minutes and then there's times when it wont go above 4ghs and it will beep at times even tho I'm sure the u3s don't have a speaker this is why I think it is faulty and will be looking for an exchange.

Ok that you would be right on second one sounding fault if it only reaches 4ghs and you tried different things to operate it and still happens.  That is not normal so getting a refund your right would be proper.

But on your one running over a week that is luck.  Zombies normally hit U3's much more often then that, the more you have the more you see it.  When I had 3 I was resting multiple times a day zombies are just that common.  The R1 with CrazyGuys firmware saved all that though.
