1261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I keep getting calls telling me there are are few bitcoins blocked in my name. on: January 21, 2022, 07:22:26 PM
Hi Guys

A few years ago, I was defrauded by some company and they fooled me into investing money with their fake company.

I reported that to the police and to the trading organizations at that time.
Of course, I did not get any money back and the police told me that cannot do anything.

Now, I keep getting calls from people (fraudsters I am sure) telling me that I have a few bitcoins blocked in my name. One of them even sent me a screenshot (I am sure that is fake as well).
They want me to give them 5% so that they can transfer me the bitcoins (I learned the hard way how fraud works), and I am not sending any money to get any money.

My question is...

How, where, and is it possible to check if I really have any bitcoins blocked in my name? (If yes, then how)

Thanks
Andy

*** To any Fraudsters reading this, I am not going to give you any money so please don't try to fool me again. (Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice - shame on me).
No it's not! Unless you have any rich father who has left behind these assets for you there is no way someone has blocked anything in your name. Any bitcoin lying anywhere can be operated with the private key which you will have. If you don't have it then this company should be having it but if they have it they will just take away all the money why only settle for 5% so don't trust any such scheme
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 21, 2022, 07:15:27 PM

Yes in test match cricket it is not that much issue specially when sir jadeja gets back in side provide depth in batting. The top order is strong and number 4 is kohli and 6 and 7 jadeja and pant arre good as well. I think the time has come that team management replace rahane and pujara and give chance to Iyer and Shubmann gill.
Yup

~snip~
I think the problem with the middle order is inexperience, now when you talk about removing Puji Rahane, you are not left with any experienced test batsmen in the middle order who has played let's say more than even 30 test matches. In fact even overall the team wouldn't have a lot of batsmen who have played Overseas. So removing both of them together is going to be a challenge for the management too. I think removing one of them and rotating each of them for a match can probably be one way of creating a balance, Shreyas Iyer is obviously a very good option for middle-order which is altogether unexplored, he can be a very good replacement for Rahane.
This year India is playing 9 tests.

2 against SL (Home)
4 against Aus (Home)
1 remaining test against England (Away)
2 against Bangbros (Away)

Home series are considered easy series so they have 2 options. They could continue with Puji-Rahane at home and help them to get their form back or go with the young guys like Gill at number 3 and Shreyas/Vihari at number 5 so that they get more exposure and experience. (Vihari must get long rope when playing at SENA)
Gill honestly I don't like that much, he has been given too many chances now, and he is not at all consistent. Vihari and shreyas I think are better options there are a lot of other options in the pool too.

@darewaller I believe that soon we shall see Rahul Dravid dropping non performing player’s, and currently he’s taking his time to understand all the available player’s and once he gets a good idea he’ll start shaping the new Indian team. Also Jadeja is a very important player because he constantly lifts the team by taking that important wicket, or scoring those crucial runs, and it’s important that team India find a player that can be his direct replacement.

Indian cricket team is not having a good time right now. They have lost test series to underdogs i.e. SA and the credit for this goes to kohli and bcci administration. Players who are not performing must be dropped to play domestic cricket and regain form. There is no harm in giving kohli a break, since he is continuously not performing. In India it's a culture that senior players are mandatory part of team whether they perform or not.
True that losing the test against SA was still acceptable but India losing one day international series against underdogs clearly indicates the weakness in the team combination. I hope india finds a solution for it quickly.
1263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fear and Greed index. Don't time the market! on: January 21, 2022, 05:27:01 PM
Actually, this index is quite helpful in indicating the current mood of the market, but the problem I see is that you cannot buy/ sell based on this index, it's because you will see in bear runs, this index remains in the fear stage while in bull run it stays in the greed stage
Why not?

You can not use that index for your decisions if you are a FOMO trader or investor. But if you apply the principle "Being fearful when others are greedy and being greedy when others are fearful", so yes this index can help you to make decisions. Obviously, it won't help you to find out exact bottoms but good enough to base on it and make your entry in bottom range. That's good enough.
This is the only time you would really see this fear and greed index would be helpful on which you could presume out that the entire market is on that fear side
where you could really apply your own analysis and made out specific actions basing up on what you do saw.It is right that you shouldnt rely on it since it wont
be accurate but having these things is much better rather than have none because having at least some reference isnt bad at all.
I didn't get what are you trying to say. I mean if I am doing my analysis separately how is this useful? Moreover my very simple question was that what could I have done yesterday after seeing the index. A simple answer from anyone would have been yes buy but what happened today morning was that market tanked $5k and a person would end up in loss.
1264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market sentiments ? on: January 21, 2022, 04:49:39 PM
Things started looking good, giving a bit relief!!
But wait!!! Again sudden dip of  $5000 in a few hours?? How can we explain it: Are bad actors manipulating it or it just the market sentiments towards downward making such huge pricefall?
Chances are this is just a start of the bear trend, market was already looking very weak since past few weeks, there were pretty less volumes on the green candles, this just signifies that market is weak with the bullish sentiments. Moreover this downfall has also broken the support we had at 38000, now if close anywhere below 40k I am very afraid of the market trend altogether.

Yes, I mean it can give an idea of which direction to trade at maximum, you are right that it might help me find a good entry, but what I am trying to say is that either you be a trader or you be a HODLer when it comes to bitcoin, if you are a trader, then this is a pretty lagging indicator, at maximum the idea this index gives me is which direction to trade. While if you are HODLer this won't really matter to you. And the information relating to bullishness or bearishness of the market can be easily fetched by just a quick glance on the chart of the coin itself. Like if currently we are in extreme fear, what do you suggest I do if I have a capital of let's say $1000?
1266  Local / India / Re: Crypto regulation bill may again get postponed. on: January 20, 2022, 08:40:08 PM
In the upcoming budget session of the parliament crypto regulation bill may again get postponed as the government wants to hold more discussion and build a consensus on regulatory frame work. In view of that the Indian crypto exchanges are now setting up self regulatory code of conducts. More details can be found in this article.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.economictimes.com/tech/tech-bytes/indias-cryptocurrency-sector-likely-to-update-code-of-conduct/amp_articleshow/88983918.cms

I knew this from the very start, they might say that they have to build consensus or hold discussions but one fine reason for this is Elections also, the government doesn't wants to pass any controversial bill before the upcoming elections obviously.

Oh this news sounded like the the most melodious music of my life. It's a great news that government is planning to hold more discussions before leaping into a conclusion. It will give Indian crypto exchanges a very important breather to onboard more customers to make the community stronger.

Also as I am not expecting anything positive from this regressive government with useless finance minister, it's always great news when government postpones such important things!
It's not really much of melody I feel, it's already too late for India to not bring any framework around cryptocurrencies, a legal framework for the regulation will make things much more clear for new businesses, also it will give people a lot of confidence about investing too. It's obviously good that they are not deciding for an outright ban, but I think they should legalize it soon so that businesses can actually take advantage of it and can make India their new home.
1267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade-in between the lines on: January 20, 2022, 08:35:37 PM
It quite clear to all of us that trading is not an easy task and if an individual lack a good trading skills it may bead to loses, this aspect has made many to decide to hold rather than trading to avoid mistakes.
But in doing that I have observed that while the crypto currency market is highly volatile so if you can flow with the wave of the market one can still make good profits but again its not a guarantee and not an investment advice.
DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS STAT?
Okay flowing with the wave of the market, how will you do it exactly? Let's take the example of the current market,  what do you suggest? What should a person ideally do in the current market scenario? He should buy or sell? Your answer would be sell probably because the market is currently bearish, now the problem is when will you consider it to be bullish? Do you wait for some indicator to turn green or the market to move above the Moving Average? But once that happens and the market fails to hold that level and falls again, now what will you do? Will you still continue to hold it? or will you sell it? The thing is no matter how much you say that you are just flowing with the wave of market, if you are trying to time the market, all you are doing is technical analysis which would require you proper practice and skill.
1268  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Company on: January 20, 2022, 08:32:04 PM
Hello bitcointalknairs please I will like to get clarifications on something, I received an email from trading brokers that I can lunge my funds with them and they execute trades on my behalf but I am afraid of the legitimacy of such services because most of them always turn out to be scammers.
What is your experience with trading brokers?
Never ever give the right to execute your trades to anyone, this is way too risky i think, once you give rights of your trading terminal to someone they basically have access to all your capital, one small glitch in their system can rekt you in seconds. I am not even considering the case they are scammers, think of it if they are innocent but their code isn't properly audited and there is just some one small glitch. I recommend to get these software either tailor made for yourself or just don't use them at all.

In test format situation is not bad as compare to White ball cricket.

In test cricket middle order is going to change given management move away from Puji-Rahane due. When playing at home there shouldn't be much problem because India can pick any inform batter from the domestic and 90% chances are that they are going to succeed against every bowling attack. Just to give you example of batting depth in sub continent Jadeja, Ashwin, Washi, Axar all are exceptional players and comes at 7,8,9 and so on, so playing at home is okay. Mayank, Shreyas etc also got terrific number at home so middle order or all rounders problem is not big.

For India problem comes when they are touring SENA countries and that's where they need to find solid replacement in middle order.

In white ball cricket Indian team is competitive but not champions, would be great if they learn from the England in the limited overs.

1270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Most active KYC free exchanges? on: January 16, 2022, 06:15:45 PM
I am wanting to use some KYC free exchanges, what are some of the most popular / active ones? Quicker trades are what I'm hoping for. It would only be for small amounts - < $25 If they offer altcoins that's a bonus, if not it's no problem.

Thanks.
I see all the comments promoting Dex, which obviously are the best type of exchanges and surely the ones you can completely trust. But as you have mentioned
1. The amounts will be small
2. You want quicker trades

For both these requirements, I would rather suggest you use any Centralized exchange, go for Kucoin, there is no KYC requirement in Kucoin, make your quick trades and withdraw the money from that exchange to your wallets, I don't think you will have any issue. But yes as others have mentioned, eventually you will see all the centralized exchanges coming up with the KYC compliance requirement.

Actually, this index is quite helpful in indicating the current mood of the market, but the problem I see is that you cannot buy/ sell based on this index, it's because you will see in bear runs, this index remains in the fear stage while in bull run it stays in the greed stage, now technically one should buy in fear stage and sell in greed stage, but this index can last in fear stage for very long periods, for example, the market stayed in "Fear Range" from may 15 to july 26, but similarly, on 16th June it tried to go out of the fear area, now if you would have brought anytime on this day thinking of the end of bear run chances are you would have lost capital because market even touched many lower lows even after this time, similarly even after reaching the greed stage it touches a lot of higher highs, which means this index can just be used to know the market stage, you can't decide your trades based on it.
1272  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Getting Used to The Market Situation is The Key to Becoming a Reliable Trader. on: January 16, 2022, 05:58:38 PM
"Getting used to the market situation is the key to becoming a reliable trader. "
is that right? Or not?

What do you guys think?

 I think this is true.
Because this is based on my personal experience in trading.

My first trade. I'm not very familiar with the (crypto) market situation where it turns out that prices always go down and up quickly.
Because of that I became a person who easily panicked.

When I bought at a high price and the price after I bought it turned out to be down drastically.
Because I didn't know the market situation and conditions, I panicked and was in a hurry to resell the coins I had bought at a high price. and in the end I lost.

But here after I know the market is bullish or bearish then I become calmer and don't panic easily.

This usually happens to beginners who are just getting into the world of cryptocurrency trading
Obviously, playing in situations you are familiar with will always give you a big edge in your game. Moreover, trading is all about knowing the market, you have to make trades based on the historical patterns or how price behaved the most recent time it came to that point. You are saying about the market as a whole, I think you should even familiarize yourself with a few coins, read and study only those few coins, study the price behavior of those coins, study how they moved when they touched a certain point. You should be this well versed with the coin you are trading and only then trading can be profitable and consistent otherwise you are just trying to hit the bullseye which you will easily miss.
1273  Local / India / Re: Is paytm ok with crypto? I get coindcx vouchers for paid bills on: January 16, 2022, 05:53:32 PM
What title says..
Why would Paytm be having any problem with crypto companies? All they are doing is advertising for CoinDcx and charging a commission from them, the voucher that you got was given by CoinDcx and would be redeemed too by coinDcx only so Paytm has no responsibility in that front. Moreover so far it's not illegal to do business with crypto exchanges, also when big tv channels and even IPL are partnering with crypto exchanges, I don't think Paytm would like to lose any such opportunity, this is the reason you got CoinDcx voucher on these payments.

Only because of some nutjob trolls? By this means Jadeja/Raina should have taken some decisions too. they were attacked in similar fashion as Shami (if no one remember then you guys must be following only one type of news). I humbly suggest that avoid these type of BS in social media.

4 decades!! holy cow bhai. I thought you were in 30s or something.  Grin

Anyway 7 years sounds more than enough timeline for any captain but sudden resign might unsettle team for short period of time because we don't have any replacement for Kohli as captain in tests.

- Rohit - Captain material but 33 year old
- Rahane - He's great leader but his career is not safe anymore.
- KL Rahul - He seems first choice atm but Idk why, i didn't like his captaincy style so far (IPL and 2nd test).
- Shreyas could be great captain but he's only 1 test old in red ball so he's out of the contest as well. Same with Gill, Prithvi. They all are captain material but way too young, new or need to cement their position first.
- Bumrah - Idk if BCCI will follow CSA step (Choosing leading bowler as their captain)
- Pant - He could be a good choice for long run. he's young, leading his franchise nicely and i think he proved his worth in Test team on countless occasion.

To be very honest, the only sane option in my mind is between Rohit and Rahul, all others would be more of a temporary captain who might lead the side for a year but eventually you have to make someone else the captain, Pant I don't feel is responsible enough so far to be made captain, you want some more consistent performances from him and also some settled decisions in batting. Rahane would have been a very obvious choice before this SA series but now he obviously isn't in the options as board might consider dropping him from the squad as well.
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brazilian mayor to reportedly invest 1% of city funds in Bitcoin on: January 15, 2022, 06:57:16 PM
Brazilian city Rio de Janeiro's mayor, Eduardo Paes wants to assign 1% of the city’s treasury to Bitcoin. Paes talked about plans for turning the city into a cryptocurrency ecosystem hub.
Mayor announced We are going to launch Crypto Rio and invest 1% of the treasury in cryptocurrency. The government has a role to play. Paes added that the state is also preparing to instruct tax exemptions for the crypto industry.

The news tells that the govt has a warms stance on Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency industry. Hopes that in near future the govt will bring a better environment for the industry.
Reference: https://cointelegraph.com/news/brazilian-mayor-to-reportedly-invest-1-of-city-reserves-in-bitcoin
The most surprising line that I am reading here is to give tax exemptions to the industry, it's the first time you will see a person who is in the government saying that Cryptos should be given tax exemption. But I think his dream will remain a dream only if he is not able to convince the major government of the country, because if the central government is against Cryptos, they will never allow any taxpayer funds to go into cryptos.
1276  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can politics be pure? on: January 15, 2022, 05:19:51 PM
Can politics be beyond dirty  game? Can their be politics with no hate or envy of opposition
I think your question is very wrong in the first place. Question must be can politics be separated from our lives? Every organisation, every company, every structure which has people will always have politics, and politics is nothing but management of emotions of the people. Purity is not a trait of humans therefore politics can never be pure because it's made from people who have to convince people, it's just human greed and emotions showing up in open. So no there can never be politics without hate and envy.
1277  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Don't panicked if bitcoin illegal in your country. on: January 15, 2022, 04:50:44 PM
Some countries don't allow to transect bitcoin or any other crypto currency. This is totally illegal by law in those countries. After invention of bitcoin, A great revolution happened in digital currency. world day by day going to depend on crypto currency for the demand of free currency. If any government of the country ban crypto currency, Still you can transect bitcoin or any other crypto currencies. No one can understand. In this modern world 'Ban' is a valueless word. We are not committing in crime. We just make easy to transect our money.
Unless you are too rich or are planning to leave for Cayman Islands you can definitely transact in Cryptocurrencies saying that you are not committing any crime.

But it will still be a felony! Definitely it's very difficult for a regulatory agency to find out who is using cryptocurrency unless you commit a very serious crime but it will still be illegal. Also if you transact small amounts in cryptocurrency, the no regulatory agency will spend their money and effort to catch you.

So it all depends on what side of the law you want to stand. But yes, whatever countries are banning bitcoin now, will regret their decision few years down the line and loose the opportunities and employment it could have generated.

Definitely true, countries like Singapore are once again taking the advantage of keeping their economies open, all the blockchain and crypto startups are shifting their offices there and if not Singapore then to Malta. And these places will create ample of employment opportunities and large money.

Holy shit

I didn't see that coming, don't know who is going to lead the team now? Rahane already stripped from his vice captaincy, his place is not secure anyway. Rohit is not young guy anymore and KL Rahul doesn't look captain material to me. Interesting time is coming indeed, let's see how this new transition period goes.

Under his 7 years tenure, India become number 1 test team and stayed there for like 5-ish years. Without any doubt best Indian test captain, who changed the Indian test culture single handedly . Well done skipper, you led the team very well. Changes are part of the life but i'm going to miss him as test captain.

https://twitter.com/imVkohli/status/1482340422987169794
I liked aas Jaffer's comment on his retirement, when his captaincy started wining series is foreign pitches was considered as an extraordinary thing and today is the time when if India loses a series at foreign pitch it's considered as a big setback and extraordinary thing. I don't know why critics always bash Kohli for India's losses and honestly I have never seen these people applauding him for the wins. If you go by the statistics he was even better than Dhoni in his captaincy.

Hey, I am wondering is it truly possible that my BTC works for me , without revealing my private keys and also without KYC ?
I have read and heard about similar things but they seem more like a Ponzi scheme.
Does anybody have any experience with a non-custodia platform/wallet /swap which does not require KYC but supports BTC ?

A privacy concerned BTC fan.
The only legit mechanism which obviously is not possible in btc but is possible with other Cryptocurrencies is Staking. You can easily add your holdings in some staking pool and enjoy staking rewards. But yes it's important you get in or buy that Crypto on a minimal cost because if the price of the coin you staked went down you technically are losing in dollar terms on your value rather than making money on it. But yes Staking is the only option for you
You shouldnt forget about the risks involved with staking since this do particularly talks about those platforms or 3rd parties which would held up your coins which means you dont possess those things unless
if it was staked on some decentralized or from wallet itself but if not then i dont really recommend for putting it just for getting some small % in return per year and rewards or interest
do even go lower as people would come in and doing the same thing thats why im not really convinced with this kind of option but if you could
able to bare the risks then go ahead.
Risk is obviously there, there is never a risk free return anywhere, return will be only there if a person is willing to take the risk associated with it. The risk in staking is the minimal if we compare it to other investment options, even mining is risky this way, and trading too so staking for a good return will always be a profitable venture. staking is a type of hodling only if you see it in a way.
