The way Rohit Sharma started the 2023 World Cup final. Gill could have accompanied him then maybe India could have scored a good run in the final. India's all out for 240 runs in the final match in the race for the title was really disappointing for the Indian cricket fans. In 2003, India also failed to win the championship after losing to Australia. The same thing happened in the 2023 World Cup final. 2023 World Cup may be the former cricketers of India wanted to avenge the 203  bone by defeating Australia in the final. But who knew Australia would win the toss and bowl brilliantly. Bowling will bowl strong batsmen like India all out for 240 runs.

For India, it is time to move on. ODI cricket will be in low priority for some time now. At least until the T20I World Cup of 2024 gets completed, all the attention is going to be on the shorter format. Both Virat and Rohit will be remembered as great players who put up exceptional individual performances, but never able to win a major ICC trophy. For them, the time is running out. Virat is 35 years old, while Rohit is one year elder to him. They have another 2 years of international cricket left at the most. And this means that the 2024 tournament is going to be their last chance.
1262  Economy / Economics / Re: China's real-estate sector is NOT doing well, it might bring whole economy down on: November 24, 2023, 02:56:48 PM
They have a huge population, so that's why the price for real estate is insanely high. They can only rent an apartment, even better share a room with other people to make the cost cheaper.

I don't think it will bring the whole economy down, they will be forced to live with less money and as long as they can accept it, they will make the country rich.

Sadly China is not welcome for LGBTQ+ because gay or trans women can't give a birth, this is just a joke although it's also somewhat correct lol.

China has a huge population. That is true. But at the same time, this population is rapidly declining as a result of ultra-low birth rates. For the year 2022, Total fertility rate was estimated at just 1.09 children per woman. This is extremely low, and for comparison the TFR in Japan for the year 2022 was 1.26 children per woman and that in Russia was 1.416 children per woman. The low number of births for a continued period of time is being reflected in the economy. There is an oversupply of apartments and the demand is declining with every passing year. Retirees are moving back to their villages, while new births and in migration to the urban areas are not able to cover this.

Srilankans are banned? Jeez, your source must be living in some parallel universe so i am sure he must be right in another universe but not here lol.

BCCI is corrupt but they are not a group of manchild, believe it or not but BCCI folks are too busy in busy printing money. Btw how many Bongs from Bangladesh play in the IPL?

Agreed on the money part. BCCI is right now swimming in wads of cash. They got a $1.2 billion per year deal for the IPL media rights and another $230 million per year from the ICC. And recently they signed a deal with Viacom18 for the bilateral series media rights, worth ₹5,963 crore for a 5-year period. Apparently the Indian government is also happy with the potential tax bill from 2024 onwards. The BCCI paid a total of ₹1,159 crore in income tax for the period of 2021-2022. With the increase in revenue, the tax bill may go up by at least 2-3x.

It's true, injury cannot be used as an excuse for defeat and I agree with that opinion. Even if you look at the depth of the squad that Brazil currently has, by playing only second-tier players they can secure a slot to escape the CONMEBOL zone. I think that if Ancelotti signing is actually realized, Brazil will be considered a favorite team in the 2026 edition, even though their current situation is far from good.

A team such as Brazil should not give the excuse of injury. If they are saying that absence of Neymar negatively impacting them, then they are relegating themselves to the level of Portugal, Belgium or Norway who are dependent on just one player. Argentina for example may not face much difficulty in winning matches even if Lionel Messi is absent. This is not something that we would expect from Brazil, who dominated association football for a long time. They have time till 2024 September to sort out the issues. If they are unable to do that even by that date, then things are not going to turn out well for them.
1265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: November 24, 2023, 02:09:47 PM
Al Taawoun has surprised everyone with their performance so far in this season of the Saudi Professional League. But at the same time, they lost their last match, against Al Hilal. Anyway, they were the underdogs in that match and went down 2-0 as Aleksandar Mitrović and Mohamed Kanno scored the goals for Al Hilal. The match against Al Riyadh (in less than one hour from now) represents a good chance for them to make a comeback and cement their position as the no.4 ranked team in the points table. Riyadh is one of the weakest team, and they are currently 14th in the points table.

You seem forgot to read except for the final in his statement, the dew changed the context to be hoest but its part of the game and the teams should stratgize accordingly. What Iwould like to say is India scored that 240 runs purely because of their batting excellence, if its any other team the score wouldn't even touched 200 including Australia if they got an option to bat first.

Kohli will be surely fit for the next 4 years to play cricket and Rohit too can play the next T20I world cup so nothing is over yet and who know what they will decide.

Well.. actually I don't think that dew played any significant part in the finals. We are diverting from the main factor. Indian batsmen failed to put up a decent total. 280 would have been a winning total at Ahmedabad, but 240 was below par. Given this, even if dew was not there I really doubt whether India would have won the match. BTW, I find it strange that Indians are complaining about the dew factor, given the fact that they had the home advantage. If anyone should complain, it should be the visiting teams such as Australia.

The 6th match of T20 world cup qualifiers africa Rwanda after winning the toss gave Nigeria to play first. Nigeria score 33/2 in 6 overs match has no result due to rain and 1, 1 points will be given to both teams also they had loss one one match. next match will be played Namibia and Uganda. Namibia is strong team as compared to Uganda, they have ability to win this match easily. In qualifyier stage both team have won 1,1 matches and both team have 2, 2 points in this world cup qualifiers.

All the matches are being played at the same ground and therefore if there is rain interruption, the match is immediately called off. This is something that the ICC needs to pay attention to. The game between Namibia and Uganda was supposed to start by 12:30pm GMT, so the first match was called off. Anyway, in the second match Namibia seems to be in a very strong position. Uganda are at 67/6 after 12 overs and looks like Namibia will win this match without much effort. Tangeni Lungameni and Gerhard Erasmus have so far picked up 2 wickets each.

It wasn't the first D/N match in the tournament, more than 95% of matches were scheduled in the same time slot and it's not like dew and toss played a major part in the majority of the matches.

In fact, Dew hardly played any role in this WC, which was actually surprising. Except for the Finals so i don't think we could blame anyone for this.

Agreed. I don't think that dew was a major factor in the final, or in any of the other matches. Anyway, Indians can't complain about it. They had the home advantage and in case Australia had lost the toss then none of this debate would even happen. It is very simple. India lost the match because their batsmen failed during middle overs. And then the target was too small and the bowlers also didn't had much room for maneuvering. The next target should be T20 World Cup of 2024, which is less than 6 months away. It will be a great irony, if India never wins an ICC trophy before the Kohli-Rohit duo retires.

Luxembourg has truly come a way up in football recently and these qualifiers showed just that, not many years ago they were a team that were happy when they were losing by a single goal to any team playing against and now to be fighting for a qualification spot through play offs is a great achievement for them.

I think that they will not be able to win a direct game against Greece but in football anything can happen as they say and I don't exclude big surprises from these play offs.

Luxembourg is one of the richest countries in the European Union, and they have been quite successful in attracting talented immigrants from around the world. And this has helped them to improve the performance in a big way. A number of players, such as Enes Mahmutović, Seid Korač, Lars Gerson, Dirk Carlson, Mica Pinto, Leandro Barreiro, Edvin Muratović, Danel Sinani, Gerson Rodrigues and Alessio Curci are of immigrant background. The only disadvantage is that Luxembourg doesn't have a well established national league, so most of these players need to be stationed outside the country.

Recently there is a rumor that BCCI has banned Bangladesh players from IPL after Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Many content creators are claiming that BCCI has taken this decision to pit Bangladesh against India in the World Cup final. If Bangladeshi players are banned from IPL for supporting then Australia should be banned from IPL instead of banning Bangladesh from IPL because Australia beat India in the final match and Bangladesh only supported Australia. It is normal that every country will have fans of some teams and haters of some teams, if such a ban is imposed on a country because of some haters, how much is it reasonable to have it. For Bangladeshi fans if Bangladeshi players are banned in IPL then BCCI should think about this decision.

Well.. this is quite strange. Is there any reliable source available for this? I can't find anything related to this news in any of the major cricket portals such as ESPN-Cricinfo or Cricbuzz. And the reason being given is laughable. Why should the BCCI ban Bangladeshi players just for supporting Australia? Anyway, there are not many Bangladeshis in IPL. Shakib last played in this league many years ago, and as far as I know only Mustafizur is a regular. Liton Das has a contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders, but I haven't seen him playing a lot of matches in 2023.

Yes, today total two games of this series will be played Nigeria Vs Rwanda teams and Nmabia vs Uganda teams. This game Uganda vs Nagaria will be held after few hours on field. But this game Nigeria vs Rwanda was started on pitch, but due to interrupted of rain this game was delayed. In this game, Rwanda team won toss and decided to first bowling lineup. Performance of Nigeria team in this game was very poor in batting lineup because Nigeria team scored only 32 runs from 6 overs by losing 6 wickets. D.Ajekun batsman scored only 13 runs in 20 balls with one 4a and still not dismissed from the pitch. Other batsman who have been dismissed from field have all scored over 10 runs. Now let's see when game start, what target of Nigeria team set and Rwanda team will successfully chase it or not.

Uganda is one of the strongest teams in Africa, but in recent times Namibia have proved their worth by defeating full member nations. So I would regard Namibia as the favorites to win the match today. For the match between Nigeria and Rwanda, I would rather go with Rwanda. They have made rapid strides in both men's and women's cricket. Recently Rwanda qualified for the U-19 women's world cup and they managed to defeat a few full member nations and then progressed to the knockout phase of the tournament. Nigeria has also made good progress, but they will be the underdogs today.

Australian batsmen batted very well. With the  help of Smith's 52 and Josh  Inglis's 110 runs, the team managed to set a huge target of 209 runs. However, the Indian squad also has several experienced batsmen. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav batted very well. As a result of the excellent performance of these two  batsmen, the match was  under the control of India. Still we have to wait till the last ball of the match to see the result of the match. However, India eventually  won, and the team avenged their World Cup defeat. India will not be able to forget the sorrow of losing the World Cup by defeating Australia in this one match. If India had beaten Australia 5-0, perhaps this misery would have been alleviated.

Australian batsmen did well, but their bowlers failed. I don't understand the dependence on pacers while playing in India. Australia do have quality young spinners at home. Last time when they toured India, both Matthew Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy performed exceptionally well in sub-continental conditions. On the other hand, yesterday the spin duties were performed by Matthew Short and Tanveer Sangha. While Short is a part-timer, Sangha doesn't have much international experience. And 15 out of 20 overs were bowled by pacers.

I will missed the GOAT era, though I'm opportune to watch these players played on the pitch. The GOAT debate have come to an end because the era of Messi and Ronaldo is over after both players left European football. True facts, there will be no players that would be able to blend in the incredible competition open by these great players or any players that can mount the good and impossible records set by the club. Comparing Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, ofcourse these players don't stand a chance to replenish the memories innovated and cave in the minds of football lovers.

There is no point in comparing. But personally I believe that Erling Håland and Kylian Mbappé are at a similar position where Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were some 10-15 years back. Håland and Mbappé are top quality players who have the potential to become GOATs. But they need to focus on their game and need to make their moves (regarding club) very wisely. I definitely don't want either of them to end up like Mario Balotelli. The last time I read about him, he was involved in a road accident while driving an Audi Q8 in Brescia.

Luxembourg scored 17 points in their group with Portugal and I think Greece scored less points in their group, so I would write off Luxembourg right away because they can beat teams like Greece.
As for Ukraine, I agree that Iceland is a rather convenient opponent, but it can also surprise and the chances of Ukraine's exit are much higher.

Iceland used to be a very strong side. But for the last 3-4 years, their form has gone down. Small island nation with a population of less than 400,000, so it is understandable. In case of Luxembourg, they scored 17 points from 10 matches, and still failed to get a direct qualification spot. Unfortunately for them, they were placed in a tough group along with Portugal and Slovakia. Now coming to Ukraine, they missed direct qualification by a whisker. Both Italy and Ukraine ended up with 14 points, but Italy progressed thanks to superior goal difference.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 24, 2023, 07:24:37 AM
The best batsmen that India has, the Indian government selects their players from different states of India. This is where the Vijay Hazari Trophy has started in India, some good quality players will come out. They will play in the IPL and those who will do well in the IPL will be given a chance in the national team. This is how Team India selects their best players. If our Bangladesh team management was like this then maybe our Bangladesh team would have been in a better position. Our cricket improved when our Bangladesh team Shakib Al Hasan Tamim Iqbal Mashrafe bin Murtaza Mahmudullah Riyad Mushfiqur Rahim played in the national team. Bangladesh had the power to beat anyone in the world. A good batsman did not come after that. So our cricket management of Bangladesh should select good quality cricket from different districts of Bangladesh and give opportunity to play in national team.

There are reasons why domestic cricket in India is not as strong as that in England or Australia. Sheffield Shield and County Championship always maintain the highest quality and Indian domestic cricket comes nowhere near that. Even the Plunkett Shield (NZ) and the domestic competitions in West Indies and South Africa maintain a superior quality when compared to that in India. There are two main reasons - first of all, most of the capped players skip their domestic duties, and also there are a total of 38 domestic teams and as a result the quality gets diluted.

The concern for Brazil fans is whether the former five-time World Cup winners will qualify for the 2026 World Cup. While the team qualified for the World Cup from number one in the points table, they are finding it difficult to qualify for the upcoming World Cup this season. Brazil was one of the most expensive teams in the World Cup but despite being the most expensive team, they did not make it to the semi-finals. The World Cup qualifying match is going on but the important players of the team are injured. The CBF never imagined that so many important players would suffer injuries at once. Most of the players in the starting XI are injured and we are seeing this deterioration in Brazil's performance.

Fortunately for Brazil, a total of 6 teams from the CONMEBOL qualifiers will get the ticket to North America 2026. On top of that, there is an additional spot from the inter-continental playoffs. So the chances of Brazil missing out on qualification is minimal (still can't be ruled out). But that doesn't mean that the current level of performance is acceptable. For a team that has topped the FIFA ranking for many decades, the current position as the 6th placed team in a regional qualifier is nothing short of humiliating. Hopefully they can come back strongly once the qualifiers resume next year.

Third matchday for 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier will be held today, and two matches will be played at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek. The most crucial match will involve Namibia and Uganda. A win today would almost ensure that Namibia qualifies for the 2024 T20I World Cup. Yesterday Zimbabwe managed to win their match against Tanzania by a big margin, ensuring that their chances of qualifications are alive. However, their next match is against one of the strongest teams in the region (Uganda).
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: November 24, 2023, 03:01:23 AM
Brazil is ranked 6th and has only managed to secure 7 points in 6 matches from a total of 18 matches. I am optimistic that next year, precisely in September, they will experience an improvement in performance and maintain their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. Several players in the main squad suffered injuries, which was the main factor in Brazil losing their previous three matches. If Ancelotti does not extend his contract with Madrid, then I think there will be an improvement in the squad.

If they manage to improve their performance, then good for them. Else we will witness the rare occasion where Brazil fails to qualify for the world cup. BTW, injury should not be taken as an excuse. Brazil is not the only team that has been impacted by injury issues. The fact that they don't have sufficient backup for their main players exposes their lack of depth in player pool. Brazil's performance during Qatar 2022 was horrendous. And looking at their performance so far in the CONMEBOL qualifiers, I don't have much hope for the FIFA World Cup of 2026 either.

The odds (Al Nassr - 1.13, Al Akhdoud - 16.00) look fair, given the recent form of the two sides. Al Nassr is currently at the 2nd place in point table and they have won all 4 of their recent matches. Al Akhdoud on the other hand is at the 16th position (out of 18 teams), and out of their last 5 matches, they managed to win just one (and that win came against Al Hazm two weeks ago, thanks to goal by Cameroonian international Léandre Tawamba). Even if they win today, Al Nassr will remain at 2nd place, because Al Hilal has 35 points from 13 matches.

Suriya Kumar Yadav as a debutant captain, I want to say you are just incredible. India needed 15 runs off 15 balls when Suriya Kumar Yadav was dismissed for 80 off 42 balls. The match finally took a dramatic turn in the last over. Three wickets fell in the last over, including two run outs!  The last ball India needed was batting one run from one ball Rinku Singh hit a six over long on but the last ball was another drama the umpire decided it was a no ball. In the end India chased down their maximum run and won. The win may not dampen India's World Cup spirit but may bring some relief for a while.

There was unnecessary drama towards the end. They just needed a run per ball from the 17th over onward. Lower order batsmen (Tilak Varma, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi) didn't made much of a contribution with the bat and if the target was 5-10 runs more then Australia would have walked away with the match. But then the Australian attack was also inexperienced, comprised of players such as Nathan Ellis, Tanveer Sangha and Sean Abbott. One player who really impressed among the Aussie bowlers was Jason Behrendorff.
