1261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we all please accept.. on: February 01, 2018, 12:57:32 PM
Most of the governments? Excuse me but so far we see only a few countries (maybe 3-4 or 5) thinking not to ban cryptocurrencies but to regulate.
China has stopped ICO and not Bitcoin: yes and I think it's good, honestly, most ICOs are crappy. So in the end, it helps cryptocurrencies to not get the cryptos tarnished by a bad reputation

it doesn't have to be full on banning bitcoin. standing against bitcoin can simply be a set of very hard regulation rules, huge taxes, lots of registration and document submissions,... practically making it harder and harder to get involved with cryptocurrencies and mostly the businesses will take the hit. but they simply relocate to a crypto friendly country as it has happened before.
1262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Stop Bitcoin's Ban Speculations? on: January 29, 2018, 12:58:51 PM
well one of the problems that is causing this "panic" mode because of either real or fake news about banning, is that people have forgotten what bitcoin stands for.

they started making money because of its rise and now they think that is all there is to bitcoin. people need to go back to understanding what bitcoin stands for, they need to understand the meaning of some words such as "decentralized" and "censorship resistance".
if they do, they will also understand how silly it is to talk about "bans".
1263  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin price continue to go down? on: January 29, 2018, 12:46:11 PM
last time price went down 1/4 (or 25%) was weeks ago and since you have already missed the chance to sell before the drop and held this long why would you want to sell now? specially because there is no indication of any more drop?

for example there are times when there is an indication, such as the FUD regarding Korea + China banning bitcoin. or the FUD about bitcoin splitting into two chains and dying like back in pre-August time.

remember that you only sell when you speculate a drop (before it happens) not when it is already over.
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: does/will WAVES pose a threat to ETH? on: January 28, 2018, 01:32:50 PM
i believe ethereum is now too centralized and too big to be easily threatened by any other project specially since there is a lot of new coins being created every day (big mining reward) which adds to its total market cap and lots of advertisement that is filling the media for it and lots of ICOs to ensure its price stays up.

but this doesn't mean Waves is not going to grow big. it is a very good project with a lot of potential. and recently it has been growing well.

so do you think it is going to compete with ETH for the no.2 spot soon?

oh this number 2 spot again!
the funny thing is that if any coin can take that place, it woul be Waves! because it has 100 million supply compared to ethereum's 97 million and it is worth $9.23 right now with a lot of potential to reach $1000 and take the number 2 spot of ETH.
1265  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: going from X to Y challenges in Z months... on: January 28, 2018, 01:14:06 PM
I've started one of those threads myself. The goal was/is to achieve 1BTC within 9 months and without any starting capital. I gathered funds from various places on the WWW (Google Adsense, Steemit and BCT) and entered the altcoin market after having reached roughly $400. The first weeks showed a steady progress (predominantly measured in fiat money, not so much in BTC) and a peak was reached just before Christmas; $2500 and 0,16BTC. However, things went downhill after that and without any profitable trades to make, I'm currently sort of dead in the water in cryptoland. Hodl is now the only sensible option!

So in a nutshell; I started a personal challenge but things stalled later on.

yeah i remember your topic. i follow these "challenges" myself because they are always pretty interesting (specially because of "start from 0" part) but also disappointing because you are left at a "cliff-hanger" not knowning how everything ended!

i think your timing was unfortunate, because it was the end of the year and with it the end o the bull run. you had 2 months of good bull run experience though. don't worry though, this "dead in the water" won't last long.

#Hodl
1266  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: your strategies for day trading.. on: January 28, 2018, 01:03:09 PM
there is a golden rule in trading which i sometimes feel it is forgotten by many which they turn out to be gambling more than trading, specially while day trading.

the rule is that you should have a pretty good reason for every action that you take. be it buying some coin or selling it. the reason can be anything as long as it is something logical that you come up with based on your analysis and experience.
1267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What you think, Bitcoin needs some regulation ? on: January 28, 2018, 12:43:08 PM
bitcoin doesn't need regulations but it can be a good thing for it.

as someone else mentioned, if for example we see regulated bitcoin exchanges out there that are working a legit business, then more people will feel safer investing in bitcoin.
and guess what as the exchanges grow in popularity and get more traders, we will see less volatility in bitcoin price too. and that means more adoption of bitcoin as a currency which it always meant to be.
1268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: China will allow ICOs in May? on: January 27, 2018, 01:50:14 PM
it is Chinese we are talking about here, nobody knows what they will do! one day it is good and happy with 2-3 million dollar volume daily and the next they close the exchange just to open it in a month or two and just to close it in 6 months afterwards!

and that is just exchanges and bitcoin and altcoins which have nothing wrong with them. ICOs on the other hand are in a pretty messed up situation. and it is not just Chinese that banned ICOs....
1269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin’s Value Due to Social Status it Brings? on: January 27, 2018, 01:38:30 PM
that is an extremely biased wall of text which i dare call FUD even.

there are a lot of reasons for bitcoin's price and the way it rises. there is a very long list of them and the "social status" is at the bottom of that list.

it is true that the limited supply of bitcoin (which is also a small amount not a ridiculous amount) plays an important role in the final price of bitcoin due to supply and demand but people aren't jumping on board and invest in bitcoin because of that. they invest in bitcoin because it is a peer to peer digital cash as the paper written by the creator Satoshi Nakamoto calls it.
1270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HOLD by TRADE , that is possible? on: January 27, 2018, 01:28:45 PM
for example I hold 100ADA then I sell for 0.6$ buy back at 0.56$. I have increased the number of coin.

this is called investing the profit back in, instead of withdrawing the profit.
this strategy is only good if you investing in something good. and only if you do really believe that thing is going to rise in value over long term.

if you really believe that Cardano is the good choice for this strategy then keep it up. but if you ask me, you are wasting time and money on an altcoin that may rise or may fall hard.
1271  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to BTC price day before the last bitcoin will be mined? on: January 27, 2018, 01:18:59 PM
price will drop so hard because of the panic. it will go from $1,652,451.32 down to $1,487,206.18 (a whopping -10% drop) and then they kwukduck who is 200 years old by then will make a topic saying how this is the end and bitcoin will die this time.
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which Cryptocurrency Should You Still Have In 2019 on: January 26, 2018, 01:47:07 PM
what i am hodling is bitcoin, obviously Cheesy

but also i believe that we will see a good future from coins that are based on DAG. there are currently a couple of them out there: IOTA, RaiBlocks, Byteball comes to my mind. and i believe that this technology (not just these coins necessarily) has a good future.
bottom line is i am holding Byteball too but a small amount because i like the project.
1273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New to crypto. Should I buy Tron TRX? on: January 26, 2018, 01:23:19 PM
New to crypto....
I actually started investing in crypto (XLM,XRP,XMR,BTC,ETH,LTC,EOS,VEN)
since you are new then you shouldn't be buying this many altcoins! keep it down.

Quote
Shall I buy TRX now that is going down?
based on your statement alone i can tell you no, you should be buying an altcoin that is going down because it is like catching a falling knife.

now let me take a look...
what i see on the charts of it is an altcoin which was pumped (first week of January) and now it is experiencing its  dumping phase. which means the price will continue going down until it goes down at least to the previous bottom (~300 satoshi).
it already had one recovery (aka dead cat bounce) on Jan 18 so that also reduces the chance of any further recovery since it was to 800 and currently we are at 600 satoshi!

with that said it doesn't mean it will never get pumped. it just means there is little to no chance of it getting pumped any time soon.

if that wasn't enough, right now everything is dropping so we have that reason for not buying this coin too.
1274  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading with - and + percentage (%) on: January 26, 2018, 01:15:11 PM
yes but the real question is, at what percentage?

what you are asking here is basically how anybody has ever made a trade. you buy at some price, sometimes when there is a dip (-%) and then wait around a little and sell when it went back up (+%).

but every time someone talks about it, they neglect mentioning the most important step, the first step. and that is to analyze the market and see what those numbers should be. and then to speculate whether it is going up or not at all.

if you fail to find the bottom and buy too soon you will lose money. also if you fail to find the recovery and buy too soon your money will be locked in an altcoin which doesn't move at all while others are getting pumped to the moon.
1275  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Minimum investment amount in an ALT to make it rich? on: January 26, 2018, 01:01:30 PM
that is basically what i have been saying so far and it is why i find the notion of "portfolio" really dumb and despite all of this, it is becoming like a trend. people keep buying a LOT of altcoins and even use applications (portfolio managers) to list them and see their money change up and down!!!

that is completely absurd. the biggest problem i see is keeping track of all of it. as an investment you need to follow your asset, in this case the coin. whether it is following the news and development or simply following the price on charts and analyzing it using volumes,... it will take a long time and the more coins you have the more impossible it becomes.
it is practically impossible to trade and make profit with that many altcoins in your "bag".

i say portfolio is a new word for bag holder. Wink

and to answer your question i have to say you should never think about getting rich. even if you want to think about it, you should also think about getting poor because that is the other side of it when you invest recklessly. the words "never invest what you can't afford to lose" are not said for nothing.

all liked the strategy that you laid out here though. that is mainly what i do too. but it mostly depends on how much time i have. i usually go with only 2 coins tops and with a small amount of bitcoin
1276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Futures- Awful for BTC? on: January 26, 2018, 12:50:57 PM
It seems like the market tanks everytime futures are set to expire.
every time?!!
last time it was a big drop or crash if you like (>30%) which was started because of Korean FUD saying they banned bitcoin which was also followed by same FUD saying China banned bitcoin mining.
then after the drop was nearly finished everyone started talking about how futures was also expired that day!

this time it is not even a crash! i mean it is a 12% drop and if you look around you can see the same shit is happening. news headlines are saying China banned bitcoin. LOL

Quote
I know it’s great having more money in the market but are futures a gift and a curse?  What do you think?
maybe, but how much money do you think was invested in futures that can affect the market like this? i doubt it is enough to cause such drops.
1277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is backed by a large financial institution on: January 26, 2018, 12:46:59 PM
just because some "institute" or whatever is accepting bitcoin it doesn't mean bitcoin is "backed" by them.
Microsoft is one of the biggest and oldest companies that has been accepting bitcoin payment and you never said "bitcoin is backed by Microsoft"!!!
1278  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I invest in BITCOIN ???? on: January 26, 2018, 12:33:08 PM
you are here already and are asking about investing in bitcoin. so let me ask you a question, did you do any sort of research before thinking about investing in bitcoin?
if you haven't already then the answer is NO don't invest in it until you learn what it is and how things work and also learn basic things such as wallet security.
1279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Insane Experiment: Turn $1000 into $20 Million with Elon Musk and SpaceChain (.) on: January 25, 2018, 02:29:00 PM
the worst part is you think you are the first one with the same story Wink

there has been at least a couple of hundred other EXACTLY similar topics like yours some of which even went as far as saying Satoshi himself is the developer of their coin.
long story short they got pumped and some fools became poorer thanks to this.
1280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Weiss Ratings starts grading cryptocurrencies - What can we expect? on: January 25, 2018, 02:15:35 PM
i read about this elsewhere on bitcointalk and i have to say, they seem to be trying to manipulate the market in their own way. specially with all the noise they are making for their useless and baseless rating of cryptocurrencies!

by the way someone found something very interesting about their history of manipulating the market for which they were prosecuted:

You may also want to consider the fact that Weiss has already been prosecuted for "production and and distribution of materially false and misleading marketing materials" (false ratings for pump and dump basically lol) before:

https://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/2009/34-60125.pdf

Don't give them the power to influence prices. Ignoring their ratings would be best lol.
