12621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to set up a Node? on: August 01, 2015, 12:47:10 PM
I was wondering how could I contribute even further to the community.
So I've decided to set up a node.
can anyone send me a tutorial link and some advice?

Just run your Bitcoin Core wallet and Make sure to open TCP port 8333 if they aren't open and leave the wallet opened 24/7 and that's it .

Wow... is that simple or what!? I guess I'll give it a try and if I have any issues I'll come back here.

Yes it is that simple and after doing that , you should check this website : https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/ and click "Check node" you will find your IP + the port that I asked you to open and just click the button . If you are not good they should tell you that it's not Reachable otherwise you are fine to go .

Oh... and I was wondering as well... will I have any compensation by running a full node?

not sure  what that means to be honest  Huh
12622  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit 0.5.18 and missing wallet on: August 01, 2015, 11:07:36 AM
I have .wallet and .info files but i can't restore them. Any ideas?

Those files should be all you need to restore your wallet , I forgot to be honest how Multibit Classic works however do you mind telling us what's the error message you get when you open your Multibit ? the files should be in the right Directory (I don't think there option to import files)
12623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long did it take you to make 1 BTC? on: August 01, 2015, 08:51:41 AM
It took me around 100 days to make my first 1 btc but after that every thing got fast. So how long did it take you to make the first btc? and I would like to know how did you get those. I got mine mostly by selling services and small faucets Smiley

I got mine by selling a lot of Digital goods and doing services like CS:GO boosting here or on other forums . It took me more then 180 days though but it worth it now I'am making more and planning to hold them Grin
12624  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit 0.5.18 and missing wallet on: August 01, 2015, 08:47:27 AM
I have Multibit 0.5.18 installed on a Mac that I use occasionally (not my primary PC).
Yesterday I open Multibit for moving some BTC and I notice the blockchain is missing and I have no wallet on it. I leave the mac on for all the night, downloading the blockchain and today in the morning I come back to check the wallet. No wallet inside my Multibit. Seams like it was deleted the wallet and other stuff file form Multibit path.  All BTC was gone. WTF is happened?!

Are you using Multibit Classic ? If yes then why you are downloading the Blockchain , As far as I know Multibit is a Lightweight wallet that dosen't need downloading the blockchain however for what comes to your problem , I had simillar issue once and wallets has been deleted . (But didn't have any money on them)
So my question to you is ... You used CCleaner or TuneUp utilities or any kind of those programs that clean your PC ? that could be the reason . you could try some recovery programs though and you should have your files back .
12625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Karpeles finally getting some Japanese style justice - hang 'em high on: August 01, 2015, 07:25:36 AM
I'am the only one who find this make no sense ? If he is frensh , and his exchange got hacked (like he claims) what he was doing in Japan for the last four years there then  Huh Why he didn 't just move to somewhere where there is no interpol or something or they didn't let him to move anywhere else ?

12627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: July 31, 2015, 07:55:41 PM
i have a theory, satoshi could be Ross Ulbricht, he created bitcoin for silkroad, notice how he left in late 2010 and silk road was born in 2011, perhaps a coincidence but still feasible...

but maybe this was already taken into account as a possibility

For some reasons I don't think so to be honest , why would someone create a Illegal marketplace on the Darknet and take chances to get caught  ? I'am pretty sure its' for money and Satoshi should have more then 1m BTC , right ? then why would he create it  Huh Huh Dosen't make sense to me
He was looking to hide and not to be more visible and Satoshi was really 100% cancerned about his Privacy even if his IP got leaked from P2P foundation once .
12628  Other / Archival / Re: hexafraction IS SCAMMER AND SPAMMER on: July 31, 2015, 07:25:25 PM
You are accusing him of scamming , where is your proofs mate ? Also even scammers don't get banned unless in some occations maybe when they are known serial scammers on the forums since long time , they only get negative trust from members .
Spamming .. I only checked first page of his posts , he may have some short posts however they don't look like spamming either

OK AND TELL ME WHY HE CALL ME SCAM WITHOUT PROOF AND SPAMMING MY TRUST

Well , I will answer you .
He actually said the reason on your trust summary "Tried to sell me crap service, after I saw through the scam he deleted my post calling him out on facts, without responding. " .
You most likely tried to scam him and when he knew , you deleted his post because you made a self moderated thread so you can do whatever you want there and he probably can't proove it now since he didn't archive the page and you deleted his post . you can't proove something else either

12631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can we actually change something on Bitcoin using Change.org ? on: July 31, 2015, 05:29:36 PM
Most of you probably know The world’s platform for change "change.org" Do you actually think that we can change something on Bitcoin and make it mainstream because of Change.org .
I got that idea to ask some companies to add BItcoin as payment method (dosen't matter if it's Gaming , shopping etc ... ) and I wanted to ask about your opinion if sending petition and get a lot of signature from users can actually change something or you think it's a waste of time and useless .

12632  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Darkwallet vs. Bitmixer.io ? on: July 31, 2015, 05:17:43 PM
I vote for DarkWallet but we need more users to start using DarkWallet for its mixing to become effective.

A simple inteoduction to DarkWallet:

DarkWallet is a Bitcoin wallet which gives importance to privacy. It is a hierarchical determisnistic wallet with CoinJoin, stealth payment and multisignature features.

Additional links:

 • Stealth Payments: http://sx.dyne.org/stealth.html
 • Stealth transaction: https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/6ea5c6f1a97f382f87523d13ef9f2ef17b828607107efdbba42a80b8a6555356
 • Overview/Manual of DarkWallet: https://wiki.unsystem.net/en/index.php/Darkwallet/Manual

Again Muhammed Zakir come and save the situation , thank you friend Grin

I know we need more users to start using Darkwallet but I don't see who will use it for the moment since it's on Alpha (not even Beta) and it's not stable and we should use it at our own risk as I said .
and the funding seems to be frozen or something , people aren't donating anymore  It's 75% for the last months and not moving at all .
12633  Economy / Lending / Re: Please consider helping me (9 more days left) on: July 31, 2015, 09:40:21 AM
Your rating is D , I'am not sure if this is like BTCJam but if it is then you didn't link any important documents like Credit card , Bank account , ID screenshot or passport etc ....
You only linked Social media (Facebook , Twitter , LinkedIn) + Paypal which is created in July (this month LOL) ... THIS IS MOST LIKELY A SCAM , LOAN a your own risk.
12634  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions about Electrum - Help please on: July 31, 2015, 07:57:58 AM
All I needed to know in one answer , thank you very much Shorena I see that you are helping me always Grin I annoy most of people with my questions .
for what comes to the icon I may change it using some kind of softwares so it comes back to old one , I don't that it will hurt the source code or something right ? Shocked and for the latest version I may wait for the release because I don't want to screw things up .
12635  Economy / Scam Accusations / Bitpap - Scam exchange & Idendity theft on: July 31, 2015, 07:51:48 AM
So there is this guy who is doing announcements about this website and moderators are doing their job and deleting the posts when I report them. (not why they do that if they keep saying they don't remove likely scams)

But the guy keep coming back and post on Bitcointalk or StackExchange (Bitcoin section) or other website .

Here is what you should know about the website  :

Official website : http://www.bitpap.com/
On the button of the page , he says that BitPap Global Management Team are :

  • Charles Cascarilla, CEO and Co-Founder
  • Andrew Chang, COO
  • Erik Wilgenhof Plante, Chief Compliance Officer

Yes , each one of those persons are what the website is claiming however not for BitPap but for "ItBit" and ehre is the proof : https://www.itbit.com/h/our-team

Another proof , after searching on Linkedin (as you can see they work for ItBit) :

Charles Cascarilla, CEO and Co-Founder => https://www.linkedin.com/in/chadcascarilla
Andrew Chang, COO => https://www.linkedin.com/in/mrandrewchang
Erik Wilgenhof Plante, Chief Compliance Officer => https://sg.linkedin.com/in/erikwp

A third proof on CoinDesk ItBit Nets $25 Million, Launches NYDFS-Approved Bitcoin Exchange , when you start reading you will find this (I quote) :

Quote

In a statement, itBit co-founder and CEO Charles Cascarilla said that the approval gives the bitcoin exchange broad access to US-based customers, adding:

So that's it . Stay safe and don't use this website
12636  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Whats the best way to sell bitcoin? on: July 31, 2015, 07:41:09 AM
For me and that's my personal opinion , you should sell them on bitcointalk . There is a section for that "Currency section" because exchange ask you for your ID & passport and residence and other useless crap that they probably sell to companies or whatever .
So if you care about your privacy trade here or other forums , if you don't then go for exchange .

For the methods if you are trading with trusted members on Bitcointalk then you can even use Paypal (when you sell to trsuted members) then withraw to your Bank account , or you can use Neteller , Payza , Paysafecard .. whatever you want [Only with trusted members I repeat]
12637  Bitcoin / Electrum / Questions about Electrum - Help please on: July 31, 2015, 07:31:33 AM
I asked on the official topic however didn't got any answers , not accusing anyone of ignoring me but just saying maybe they didn't see it or didn't know the answer, so posting here for more visibility Smiley

I decided to Switch to Electrum lately since Bitcoin Core is screwing my RAM & CPU .

  • Once I write the seed and in case I use it once , does the wallet stay seedable ? I mean I could recover the wallet many times till the end of the world ? over and over and over
  • Is there is any chance on the Electrum icon Huh
  • What is the current version of the wallet ?

I see the icon like this and I don't remember seeing it like this at all before because I used to use Electrum on the past .

What's the latest wallet , in Github it says 2.4 version is the latest while on download on their download page I can only download 2.3.2 version (Windows) which makes me think if I'am downloading the real thing or not . https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/releases we can see that there is even 2.3.3 also

Also what is making me afraid is this page : https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/RELEASE-NOTES the Release notes says the following :

Quote
# Release 2.4
 * Payment to DNS names storing a Bitcoin addresses (OpenAlias) is
supported directly, without activating a plugin. The verification
   uses DNSSEC.
 * The DNSSEC verification code was rewritten. The previous code,
which was part of the OpenAlias plugin, is vulnerable and should
not be trusted (Electrum 2.0 to 2.3).

 * Payment requests can be signed using Bitcoin addresses stored
in DNS (OpenAlias). The identity of the requestor is verified using
   DNSSEC.
 * Payment requests signed with OpenAlias keys can be shared as
bitcoin: URIs, if they are simple (a single address-type
output). The BIP21 URI scheme is extended with 'name', 'sig',
   'time', 'exp'.
 * Arbitrary m-of-n multisig wallets are supported (n<=15).
 * Multisig transactions can be signed with Trezor. When you create
the multisig wallet, just enter the xpub of your existing Trezor
   wallet.
 * Transaction fees set manually in the GUI are retained, including
when the user uses the '!' shortcut.
 * New 'email' plugin, that enables sending and receiving payment
   requests by email.
 * The daemon supports Websocket notifications of payments.

Which makes me not trust the older version so is there is anyway or any link that I could get the latest version 2.4 from ? that would be epic .
One more question , how much adresses are generated ? If we use one it goes to the "Used" tab as fais as I know, once an adress goes there another is auto generated ? ty

12638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? on: July 30, 2015, 08:09:26 PM
I see that most of people voted for someone called "Nick  Szabo" also Wikipedia don't have really informations about him and I never seen some of his statements or something is he that hard to find   , how come I never heard of him and when I googled on images his name it gives pictures of Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto or Gavin Andreesen and other people  Huh

EDIT : http://www.ronpaulforums.com/content.php?8484-Nick-Szabo-Alleged-creator-of-Bitcoin-is-a-Ron-Paul-supporter is it him ?
12639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: anyone here using a multisig as cold storage? on: July 30, 2015, 06:52:11 PM
i think this is the most secure cold storage. The hacker/thief needs to 'find' more than 1 private key to access the funds!

i am still learning how it works but i plan to move my cold storage to a multisig address soon.

Is it as reliable as normal addresses? or am i risking something?

More security is always helpful and won't hurt anybody .  I'am not sure what Cold storage you are using (Paper wallet or hardware wallet) if it's Paper wallet then you should make sure to hide both private keys in different places because hiding them in same place dosen't make any sense .
Now for Hardware wallets there is Case - The world's most secure and easy-to-use bitcoin wallet it's not out yet but in my opinion and from what I read on TechCrunch it seems to be indeed the best (biometrically secured multi-signature bitcoin transactions)
