12721  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to migrate from Greenwallet to Electrum? on: December 28, 2020, 06:02:30 PM
Even though there is an option within Electrum to select P2SH wallet, but that didn't work possibly because of the difference between Segwit and Multi-sig P2SH.
Correct. Even though both addresses start with a "3", they don't work the same.

This is a one-time fee to get rid of multisig and finally be the real owner of your keys!
12722  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Air-gapping 2 devices vs. Trezor/Ledger? on: December 28, 2020, 01:32:43 PM
I would imagine most banks would put some kind of hold on a transfer if you suddenly decided to empty your entire account in a single transaction. I would also hope that people don't have their entire life savings sitting in a checking account with immediate access, because all you are doing there is slowly (or in some cases quickly) losing money as fiat constantly devalues. Most fiat accounts or investment vehicles which offer enough interest to at least match inflation require several days notice to access your money, although I assume this can vary quite widely between countries.
The limit here is usually 50k euro, although some banks have a 5k limit (and a few hours delay to increase it). Savings accounts are also fast, and stock brokers are fast too. Welcome to the Dutch banking system Wink
12723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [replay protection] For sale: BCH, BSV and eCash Forkcoin dust on: December 28, 2020, 01:08:06 PM
For sale: BCH, BSV and BCH-A now called eCash Forkcoin dust.
After spending far too much time extracting Forkcoins due to the lack of replay protection between BCH, BSV and BCH-A*, I decided to start selling Forkcoin dust! A very small amount of split coins on one chain (and not on the other chains) make it much easier to move only the coins on the chain you want. If you add the dust-input into your transaction, it forces a split because the dust doesn't exist on the other chains.

I am selling:
BCH dust
BSV dust
BCH-A dust
I'm going to charge an outrageous amount: 1 Bitcoin LN satoshi per Forkcoin-satoshi. You're not paying for the coins, you're paying for the service. But since 2000 sats is more than enough for this purpose, it puts the total price under only a dollar.

Bitcoin Lightning Network
Because of the high fees and small amounts, and because I like promoting the Lightning Network to people who are trying to get rid of Forkcoins, I will only accept Bitcoin LN payments for this exchange.

No spam
Self-moderated against spam. Anything else is of course accepted.

* Some call it BCHA, some call it BCH-A, some call it BCH-ABC and some call it Bitcoin ABC. The final name is still debated. I don't like the last one, hence the Strikethrough.
12724  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: BTC nube, old Multibit wallet, how to access/migrate? on: December 28, 2020, 11:57:07 AM
5Q1NKVXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXD5dlSO
This looks like a private key: import it into a new Electrum wallet (select: "Import Bitcoin ~ private keys").

(<--- doesn't look at all like the public address "1BRiwhJ2Av1PtB5XXXXXXXXXXEufDDedjd")
Blanking out part of the address doesn't stop people from finding the full address. It looks like you found back 1.8 BTC!

And don't forget you own about $900 worth of Forkcoins. Don't bother about them before securely sending out your Bitcoins, but don't forget about them either when you're done. I do offer a Fork claiming guide and service.
12725  Other / Meta / Re: Reporter Statistics on: December 28, 2020, 11:46:41 AM
I should probably just write a bot that reports every post as they get made.
Go for it!
See Active users and top posters (search for "Brand new" with many posts)
See Every (new) user's first post
See Finding spam and scam by keyword

I haven't written anything yet that counts "url" and "color" tags, but I'm pretty sure you'll reach 99% accuracy if you report any Newbie posting more than 10 of those tags.
12726  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Air-gapping 2 devices vs. Trezor/Ledger? on: December 28, 2020, 11:24:45 AM
the wrench attack angle is why i strongly prefer general purpose hardware. hardware wallets just scream "rob me!"
The wrench attack can also happen to your bank account in a home robbery: having a verified account at any exchange is enough to be forced to deposit your life savings, after which the attacker buys Bitcoin with your money.
12727  Other / Meta / Re: Ledger database leak --> Phishing on: December 28, 2020, 11:20:20 AM
Therefore, for all who use 2FA via their mobile number, it is necessary to change the number as soon as possible - and until then, if possible, turn off 2FA because it is a backdoor that will be used by many who have bad intentions.
2FA by phone number is as bad as answering "secret questions" to regain access. A couple months ago I clicked "forgot password" in Gmail, and I was surprised how easy it is! That's great for large corporations, because they must have millions of users per month who need to recover their password, and an automated system makes that very cheap to do. But it's terrible for security, so I disabled as much of it as I could. No more recovery emails, and no connected phone number.
Unfortunately, more and more websites demand 2FA. I hate it! It's painstakingly slow to "quickly" login, and if anything it's less secure than just my password. Google Authenticator seems more secure (unless you use it to login on the same phone), but it doesn't provide a recovery phrase, so if your phone breaks, you'll have to go through support of all connected websites to recover your account.
12728  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 🔍 Roobet.com | Guess Total Wagers #92 $50 Prize | $1000+ Progressive Jackpot on: December 28, 2020, 10:23:09 AM
LoyceV: 794,242,242

Round 92 and I've never won..... If anyone wants to know how I manage to do this: I use loyce.club/other/roobet.txt to get accurate wager data on the past 5 months. I started keeping track at 292,468,741 wagers. Based on this data, I make a wrong guess Tongue
12729  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is being used as a backlink source on: December 28, 2020, 10:15:19 AM
Doesn't google catch on to this sort of thing and take action? It's obviously pretty out in the open and easy to see when a company is utilising these spam services.
If they did punish a site's ranking, it could be used against a competitor: just spam a forum and your competition disappears from Google. That can't be good.

Google will only access a webpage every so often, and as long as google's crawlers see the page as of when the links are present on a thread, google will recognize the link as being on the thread.
I just checked: patrol was last visited by Google 31 minutes ago. It covers posts for the last 2 hours, so I think all new (Newbie) posts get indexed.
12730  Other / Meta / Re: Posting/reporting limits on: December 28, 2020, 09:52:45 AM
To increase the limit you have to rank up to legendary (2 seconds)
I wish! But it's not Sad

Is there anything I can do to have these limits increased?
To increase the limit you have to rank up to legendary (2 seconds)
According to this post the smallest limit to actions (such as posts and reports) is 4 seconds.
That is correct.

Getting whitelisted from theymos
Hilariousandco whitelisted me, but it didn't further reduce the 4 second limit. I guess it only helps when you don't have much Activity yet.

I was using multiple tabs to report posts.
I've ran into the limit so many times. I now report in one tab, wait for it to finish loading the page, close the tab, and only then report the next tab. This makes reporting 50 posts quite slow, so I don't often report that many at once anymore.
12731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [overview] Recover Bitcoin from any old storage format on: December 28, 2020, 09:43:06 AM
I have not yet decided whether I should start adding altcoins to FinderOuter ~
What do you think, is there any demand for it?
I wouldn't start adding random altcoins, there are way too many of those. But if there's any demand for a certain coin recovery, don't let me stop you Smiley

12734  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service) on: December 27, 2020, 07:42:13 PM
Big bump!

After spending a very long day helping someone to extract Forkcoins from an old multisig addy, and after being very annoyed with the BSV Electrum clone that took way too much time to install, couldn't even properly export a raw transaction, and has a flaw that puts multisig funds at risk, I suddenly had the great idea to use the lack of replay protection in my advantage! I found Electrum ABC, and made a transaction to a legacy address. My prayers were answered when I saw both BTC-A as well as BSV move from the multisig address into the legacy address. I still need to split them, but now it's a walk in the park.

Note: I don't trust any of these programs, and I've installed all of them in different VMs. I didn't import private keys in hot wallets, and signed all transactions offline on a Live Linux running from DVD that runs from RAM only.

Now I only have to figure out how to get Bitcoin Gold out of multisig. If anyone knows, please tell me! The only Electrum-clone I found requires Windows, which I don't have.

Don't forget:
Just so you know: after you've secured your Bitcoin, you also own about $22 worth of Forkcoins. Getting them is a bit above n00b level though, and you shouldn't try to get them before all your Bitcoins are confirmed on a new address.
So keep your private key.

I think I'll try with 6.
I'm going to disagree with Loyce here. The mempool is now filling up again, and 6 sats/vbyte is going to put you 5MB from the tip. There's a reasonable chance that that won't clear today, and if it doesn't, then it might not until next weekend. I'd probably be pushing up to 20 or 30 sats/vbyte if I wanted some certainty of confirming today.
I said 12 if you're unlucky, not 6. Usually fees drop several times on a Sunday. If you want certainty, a much higher fee is indeed the way to go, but for a total of ~50 mBTC with 15 kB transaction size, your recommended fee would be almost 10% of the total amount.
I think 5 sat/byte was just confirmed too.

Got them! Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated!
Congrats Smiley The delay earned you a couple hundred bucks in increased value Smiley
What did you use in the end? Electrum?
12737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help with Bitcoin Core Transaction on: December 27, 2020, 12:40:58 PM
Got it, so what's a realistic fee to get this thing confirmed today (with luck) but not spend a fortune Wink
See Johoe's Bitcoin Mempool Stats: if you're lucky, 3 sat/byte is more than enough. If you're not lucky, 12 sat/byte should be enough:
My suggestion: make 2 transactions: use a low fee on the small inputs, and a higher fee on the larger inputs.

I tried to sweep into Electrum
Try import (create a new wallet, select "Import Bitcoin ~ private keys".
12739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safe to send BCH split from BTC from a hardware wallet still containing BTC? on: December 27, 2020, 12:02:49 PM
You can read a detailed guide on how to split your coins here, using coinomi (a somewhat good mobile wallet)
This "skips" the step of first splitting BSV, OP's coins are older than the BCHA-fork.

I'm currently trying to do some splitting from multisig myself, turns out ElectrumSV has a lot of dependencies to install. I also found out Coinomi can't send a small amount of BSV to a multisig address, so I can't use that for replay protection.

-zapwallettxes looks like a startup line parameter, will I need to resync bitcoin core after doing that?
Only if you have a pruned node. If you have a ~350 GB blockchain on your disk, you're fine (but it will take a while).
Alternative: export your private key, import it into Electrum, and make the transaction from there. Electrum also allows you to manually control which inputs to use (Addresses tab, hold CTRL to select, use right-mouse to Spend from).

Think of it this way: the value went up a lot since you created this topic Wink
