1281  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sent BTC to old address of Electrum wallet app, doesnt sync but is online on: March 01, 2024, 09:12:29 AM
... you are too careless since you downloaded an app based on the recommendation of a random guy on the internet (someone who gives such kind of advices to others must have a minimum level of knowledge to know that you can't import an Electrum seed into trustwallet).
It turns out, that was beneficial for the OP because Trust Wallet won't be able to load and store his seed in its software. But even importing it into the closed-source app and getting error messages when trying to recover the funds shouldn't be done because no one knows what's going to happen with those seed words once an attempt was made to enter them into the Trust Wallet.
1282  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: March 01, 2024, 09:06:19 AM
This is one of the worst crap stable coin blockchains, and fees are often higher than on all other alternatives, unless you stake trx shitcoin.
They are all crap stablecoin blockchains, but if you need to engage with them, then you are stuck using those that are the most popular among them. I have never used or heard anyone use USDT on Polygon or the BSC network. It's mostly the asset on Tron followed by the token on Ethereum. And the fees are cheaper on Tron. Even the source you linked to shows it. I never had any staked TRX, and the fees I needed to pay for USDT transactions were either 13 or 26 TRX. At the time I last used it, it was between $0.70 and $1.40/1.50. It surely costs more now with all cryptos up in value.

But yeah, if you have some staked TRX, you can use the energy it produces Roll Eyes and convert it into fees when engaging with smart contracts, which token transactions are.
1283  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New HW wallet announced: COLDCARD Q1 on: March 01, 2024, 08:51:22 AM
I like BTCSession and he is making very good videos, but colcard and nvk are one of his sponsors  Tongue
The dude has a lot of them, I wouldn't be surprised if Coldcard is on that list. I never pay attention to the first minute or two of his videos and jump forward when the real content begins.

After watching this video I can confidently say that this is one of the worst looking hardware wallets I ever saw... it's huge and wider than his smartphone  Cheesy
The size is too big, but I don't care about the shape of it. That is, if I wanted to buy one, its wide calculator body and the many buttons wouldn't be the thing that would stop me. Unless it's a dildo-form, I don't care.

Coldcard added BBQR code format that is not supported in any software wallets... and they say it was done right  Tongue
Those are animated QRs, right? What do you mean not supported? Does that mean there is currently no popular software wallet capable of reading the QRs that the Q1 generates? Can I ask the source for this information?

Same merit count, same signature campaign, similar avatars, and similar personal texts with messages of appreciation for a great user. Sadly, you are destroying me in the posts/activity to merit ratio. Tongue
How long until they accuse us of being alts, @BlackHatCoiner?

1285  Economy / Reputation / Re: Standing Strong Against Unjust Attacks: A Call for Community Support on: March 01, 2024, 08:28:48 AM
It is safe to put aside anything related to JackpotRacer and his claims against blackjack.fun (at least until/unless further evidence is put forward or more allegations are made).
No scam has happened so that subject is off the table for me.

To my knowledge, they have not had any serious scam allegations made against them therefore (as I mentioned before) even if there was an issue where the Curacao licence might have expired and the Anjouan licence might have started, it would not be as serious an issue as them stating they had the licence at all all times but it turns out they were not covered.
I consider this a secondary importance. A casino and the people running it can be trustworthy even if their business is unlicensed and vice versa. It doesn't look good if they are lying about it or showing the wrong one (which was the case here), but if they are not stealing from and scamming their players, then it's not a problem.

The area where JackpotRacer could be useful is if he can prove that the casino is (still) running games that can easily be manipulated. That's something the community should know about and decide for themselves if they want to trust such a casino with their money.
1286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi worked for the NSA? on: March 01, 2024, 08:18:11 AM
I hope that one day Satoshi will reveal his identity so we know who's behind the Bitcoin. Only time will tell, we will just wait and wait for his revelation.
I don't thing we will ever hear that from whoever was behind the pseudonym satoshi. Maybe another party reveals something we never knew or saw before, but I don't think satoshi will. I don't even see a reason why they would reveal their identity now after so many years. Doing so can only cause problems, confusion, and maybe even fear if it was an invention by someone the community dislikes. Bitcoin has come a long way without the community and general public knowing who satoshi is, and I see no reason to change that.
1287  Economy / Reputation / Re: Standing Strong Against Unjust Attacks: A Call for Community Support on: February 29, 2024, 06:02:38 PM
I don't think I understand how is this a concept of the lesser of two evils. Unless I understand things wrongly...
I wasn't talking about JackpotRacer's actions. I was talking about the bug in Blackjack.Fun's game that allows the outcome to be manipulated. It's a lesser evil if that bug is present in a beta environment where you aren't depositing and playing with your own money. It would be worse if someone could use the bug against you in a real-money game where you deposited your own money. Imagine you are playing the game and it looks like you will win, but due to a bug they haven't fixed, you lose the round?

In the meantime, where is the Blackjack.fun forum representative Eva when it comes to posting here? This thread was created by her to repel against what she cited as unfair/unjust attacks on the reputation of the casino yet she has been largely absent from the conversation including not addressing questions that some of the community sincerely feel should have been answered by now.
If I can venture a guess, she doesn't like the direction the thread has taken. It's no longer just about JackpotRacer's wrongdoings, which have already been established, it's also about whether or not the casino and the people running it are capable of hosting a fair game that can't be cheated by those who know how to.
1288  Other / Meta / Re: sembt.com clones entire Bitcointalk topics on: February 29, 2024, 05:53:56 PM
I just found they cloned some of our local members Pmalek and FatFork, they became timothy617 and alex720.
They should have given me the name Timmy instead of Timothy. Those who watched South Park back when it was worth it, they know who I am talking about.

1289  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone 3 HW coming soon! on: February 29, 2024, 05:48:44 PM
Totally stupid in my opinion... now they are offering ''Bull market return'' discount  Roll Eyes
Tomorrow, we should have a discount because we are sad bitcoin didn't go above $65.000 yet.

Something is not really a discount if you are offering it all the time.... just sayin.
Of course, not. They just want to sell more devices, no matter what. But yeah, it would look much better if they jut offered a discount code for the next week/month/custom period of their choice, instead of using a new one every day.

Check out this video of Keystone device entering passphrase on it's own!
https://twitter.com/SaintelDaily/status/1757028148212793654
I have never seen that before. The guy says the device clicks on random areas on his screen no matter what he does on it, which hinders normal usage of the wallet.
1290  Economy / Reputation / Re: Most technically knowledgeable forum users .. on: February 29, 2024, 05:40:14 PM

The list is a good start, and it seems unfair to make it shorter. Still, there are users there who haven't posted here in years, like DeathAndTaxes, Mike Hearn, Gavin Andresen, etc. We are also seeing very little of Carlton Banks lately, and that's a guy who knows what he is talking about and deserves a place at the top of such a list if he was more active.

Additionally, gmaxwell and achow101 don't participate in discussions that frequently. So, if I had to reduce your list to 5 users (in no particular order), taking into account those who are very active and still with us, here it is:

  • NotATether
  • ranochigo
  • nc50lc
  • mocacinno
  • pooya87
1291  Other / Meta / Re: [Results 2023] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: February 29, 2024, 05:22:12 PM
Congratulations to all the winners, you guys deserved it!
It's sad that o_e_l_e_o is no longer with us, can't accept his award, and probably doesn't even know about it. The technical discussions will never be the same!

Big thanks to all the winners and a special one for o_e_l_e_o.
1292  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sent BTC to old address of Electrum wallet app, doesnt sync but is online on: February 29, 2024, 05:13:39 PM
An unrelated note, but why does the Blockchair link for this address show that there are no transactions?
It looks fine on my end. It shows all 12 our of 12 transactions like Mempool.space. Maybe it was a temporary glitch in the matrix or something in your browser that causes the error. Anyways, Mempool.space has become my go-to service when I need to check something on the blockchain. The only thing I find weird that it's not there is a BTC price or a chart.
1293  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: February 29, 2024, 05:06:46 PM
I know that the eXch representative has said no to including the TRC-20 version of USDT on the platform, but I am still hoping that will happen. Out of all the USDT variants, I use that one the most. DAI is, obviously, the best if you have to engage with a stablecoin, but I haven't met many people that want it as much as they want USDT as long as they have a choice.

Thanks!
1295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi worked for the NSA? on: February 29, 2024, 04:58:08 PM
And if Satoshi worked for the NSA i think it would be harder for him to hide his identity, because NSA should have a record to his previous work, and it could be easily linked to his real identity.
If he worked for a secret agency, it might have been on something completely unrelated, but he had the needed clearances to discover and learn the information he needed to know about weak encryption algorithms. Something like Snowden who had access to plenty of information because it was required for the systems he worked on.

I deleted PrivacyG post by mistake and informed the user via PM. I didn't pay attention and clicked on the wrong button. Feel free to post it again mate.
Here is the whole post in quotes:

Well.  Since there is no evidence for any thing about Satoshi other than that he was very likely an English man.  There are many things to speculate on and about.

I sometimes wonder whether Satoshi was the pseudonym for one single person or for a group of people.  Or maybe he was one person who initiated what we know today as Bitcoin but was helped for the most part by many programmers who wanted to build this kind of payment system.

Then you can also speculate on the subject more conspiracy ish.  What if Satoshi and Bitcoin were experiment project code names and we were the test subjects.  What if we still are.  If there is one thing I am almost entirely sure about, it is that if Satoshi is just one person then they are a VERY intelligent person.  It is pretty hard to invent all of this all on your own with no external help.  If they are a group then I rather not know who they are and live my life believing they wanted our best, not our worst.

I do not know what to believe.  Due to how complex Bitcoin is and how well made it was from the start I tend to think it is NOT a single person.  If it is, then it is likely they were part of a Three Letter Agency and decided to part ways and give us an option to Freedom knowing what was coming for all of us and for our Privacy.

Best answer is that I am sincerely confused.  He may be an agent of NSA.  It may be NSA themselves.  Or maybe not.

After all.  We are all Satoshi, right!

Yes, that is a possibility. Satoshi might have been the person who was the anonymous spokesperson for a group of developers who never spoke a work themselves but worked together.

Please don't quote an entire OP when replying in someone's thread. It looks bad and is completely unnecessary. You can quote a part of it it if your reply is directed to a specific part of the text. Otherwise, just write a standard new post like anyone else. I would appreciate if you go back and edit the post and remove the quoted OP. Thanks!
1296  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sent BTC to old address of Electrum wallet app, doesnt sync but is online on: February 28, 2024, 04:51:01 PM
The Bitcoin address that corresponds to your wallet screenshot https://ibb.co/k6ZTT9m is https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/bc1q2j57033ectjhc5aclq9w6qtezyqqpdfr9kqh9k and you have not used that address since Dec 29.
That transaction was on the receiving end of some bitcoin on 29 December 2023 as we can see from the transaction hash OP posted. But the second hash ID doesn't have that address as one of the receivers. OP has successfully managed to confuse everyone here, congrats Bungee55. Grin
1297  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [WARNING] Fake Sparrow Wallet app on the Apple app store on: February 28, 2024, 04:42:26 PM
I also have a little question; is it possible that since he installed it already that there could be malwares monitoring his phone?
It is possible, but it's not really something anyone here can answer you from the top of their heads unless they have had first-hand experience with the app and seen what it does. It could have a clipboard malware, for instance. Copy a bitcoin address to your clipboard and paste it somewhere to see if the same one gets pasted or a different one. That way you can at least know if it's a clipboard hijacker or not.

But I think the whole point of this fake app is for the victims to import their seed phrases and send them to the fraudster who created the software. I don't believe there is a malware there.
1298  Economy / Reputation / Re: Standing Strong Against Unjust Attacks: A Call for Community Support on: February 28, 2024, 04:34:07 PM
To get it out in the open, that will be a violation of their ToS. But I think if they gives permission, that "breach" can be an exception.
9/10 casinos don't allow multiple accounts, but the purpose of doing the test is to see whether or not the game in question is vulnerable to manipulation and thus doesn't deserve to go live and accept real money wagers.

I don't think you've asked about that matter. And to answer, It's free tournaments with real "money" reward [mBTC, USDT, TRX], if I am not mistaken. The games and tournaments itself, is intended for beta testing.
In that case, it's the lesser of two evils. Even though you might cheat someone out of their reward, they didn't lose the money they came to the casino with. That is all assuming we aren't speaking of real-money wagers, and I am not sure we are. Blackjack.Fun has a cashier section. You can generate addresses and deposit to them. The question now is, can those real funds be used to play the problematic games? Is it just me or has Blackjack.Fun been in a beta phase forever?
1299  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Koja kartica za bankomat? on: February 28, 2024, 04:24:18 PM
1300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi worked for the NSA? on: February 28, 2024, 04:17:04 PM
satoshi was one person
You can't know that for a fact unless you know Satoshi which I don't think you do. It might have been one person sending those early emails and being active in the mailing list, but multiple people working together from one location with Satoshi being their 'leader' and the only one communicating with the public. Who knows.

as for the nonsense of NSA backdoors
My mention of backdoors was never in connection to Bitcoin. It was to other randomizers that were intentionally weakened as Snowden revealed.

Poll results so far showing 10 users voting NO and nobody voting YES!
