1283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to work out 'checkpoint of stake modifiers'? on: April 24, 2014, 05:31:10 PM
Hi All

Im deving for other coins at the moment, can someone tell me how to work out the 'checkpoint of stake modifier' values within kernel.cpp ?

This is for one of those oh so popular PoS coins at the moment  Wink

Code:
// Hard checkpoints of stake modifiers to ensure they are deterministic
static std::map<int, unsigned int> mapStakeModifierCheckpoints =
    boost::assign::map_list_of
            (     0, 0xfd11f4e7u )

1290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Compiling Mac Clients for ANY Alt Coin, Your Choice! on: April 22, 2014, 05:31:33 PM
can anyone take a look at this and see what they suggest i do for this error ?
src/scrypt-x86_64.S:178:9: error: invalid alignment value
 .align 32
        ^
[...]
make: *** [build/scrypt-x86_64.o] Error 1

Hi MobGod,

to fix that issue, you have to convert the assembler macros of scrypt-x86_64.S to C preprocessor ones;  then add -pthread -no-integrated-as to the qmake cflags. That'll fix the issue.  Use this script: https://github.com/iongchun/cpuminer/blob/cpumine/nomacro.pl

1. convert assembler macros
Code:
sudo perl nomacro.pl scrypt-x86_64.S

2. add -no-integrated-as to the macx qmake cflags in the qmake project file.
Code:
macx:QMAKE_CFLAGS_THREAD += -pthread -no-integrated-as

You need to run macdeployqt on the .app in order to package the libraries and frameworks within the .app.  As compiled, the application will point to the libraries and frameworks wherever they are on the developers machine.  The script I posted above will run this as well as package the resulting deployed app into a DMG image.

I looked, but I did not see a github repo anywhere for AppleByte.

Hi CaptEmulation, the built in dmg flag:
Code:
macdeployqt <AppName.app> -dmg

does the same as your script above Wink

Nice one @Instacash
That perl script is exactly what i needed  Grin

1292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coin Revival Foundation! Let's get altcoins to the next level! on: April 22, 2014, 03:25:26 PM
It's an interesting concept, however my doubts lie in the fact that it typically is not an issue with the Dev's abandoning it, an opensource project can be updated by anyone in the community, if a community is large enough because the coin attracted enough people due to it's innovations/marketing place, it will be taken over by  someone to ensure it's survival.. It's the survival of the fittest coin!

Wouldn't it be great to get a lot of people together and let the coins survive due to strength of concept and not the randomness of the coin?

I moved the main topic here, btw: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=576714.msg6294074#msg6294074

Indeed, but when you are talking about strenght of the concept, if it is really a strong concept, the community will take over on it's own and take over if it gets abandoned. Taking over a coin is hard work, being in the KittehCoin team myself, I can tell you it's hard work and the community expects a lot from you with no compensation at all, nowadays for a coin to be successful from a dev team perspective, pre-mine and IPO is a necessity, you need funds to run a project like that and unless you are a bunch of people that are rich and have all the time in the world, it's going to be extremely challenging. Just my two cents, honestly, I think it's a good gesture and all and who knows it may work out, but there's so much competition right now that it's hard to deal with something that has already had bad press.

Well said!

Here's the source but it won't build:

https://github.com/GlobalDenomination/GDN
Building LevelDB ...
/bin/sh: 1: ./build_detect_platform: Permission denied
make[1]: Entering directory `/root/GDN/src/leveldb'
Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/GDN/src/leveldb'
make: *** [leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2

we can re upload if there is an error please confirm if it is

This is such an easy fix that sooooo many people get stuck on...

navigate to the src/leveldb folder

then run: chmod +x ./build_detect_platform

That is it job done...

1296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: That dang genesis block on: April 21, 2014, 08:04:28 PM
Somewhere just after the function
Code:
bool InitBlockIndex()

Do you have the actual genesis hash mining code in there, i know the up to date Litecoin code doesn't include it by default. It will look something like this. If you need it, insert this at line 2832 (Correct line number for the very latest Litecoin code 0.8.7.1 source)

Code:
        // If genesis block hash does not match, then generate new genesis hash.
        if (true && block.GetHash() != hashGenesisBlock)
        {
            printf("Searching for genesis block...\n");
            // This will figure out a valid hash and Nonce if you're
            // creating a different genesis block:
            uint256 hashTarget = CBigNum().SetCompact(block.nBits).getuint256();
            uint256 thash;
            char scratchpad[SCRYPT_SCRATCHPAD_SIZE];

            loop
            {
#if defined(USE_SSE2)
                // Detection would work, but in cases where we KNOW it always has SSE2,
                // it is faster to use directly than to use a function pointer or conditional.
#if defined(_M_X64) || defined(__x86_64__) || defined(_M_AMD64) || (defined(MAC_OSX) && defined(__i386__))
                // Always SSE2: x86_64 or Intel MacOS X
                scrypt_1024_1_1_256_sp_sse2(BEGIN(block.nVersion), BEGIN(thash), scratchpad);
#else
                // Detect SSE2: 32bit x86 Linux or Windows
                scrypt_1024_1_1_256_sp(BEGIN(block.nVersion), BEGIN(thash), scratchpad);
#endif
#else
                // Generic scrypt
                scrypt_1024_1_1_256_sp_generic(BEGIN(block.nVersion), BEGIN(thash), scratchpad);
#endif
                if (thash <= hashTarget)
                    break;
                if ((block.nNonce & 0xFFF) == 0)
                {
                    printf("nonce %08X: hash = %s (target = %s)\n", block.nNonce, thash.ToString().c_str(), hashTarget.ToString().c_str());
                }
                ++block.nNonce;
                if (block.nNonce == 0)
                {
                    printf("NONCE WRAPPED, incrementing time\n");
                    ++block.nTime;
                }
            }
            printf("block.nTime = %u \n", block.nTime);
            printf("block.nNonce = %u \n", block.nNonce);
            printf("block.GetHash = %s\n", block.GetHash().ToString().c_str());
            printf("run");
        }

1297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New altcoin idea, what should I do about it? on: April 21, 2014, 07:40:17 PM
I, like many others I guess, thought about a new coin that could surpass bitcoin. I belive 99% of alts are made for-profit and short term gains, and 99 percent of us buys them for.. guess what, also profit ( who do you think buys Dogecoin, HoboNickels or Einsteinium thinking it would become the next global currency ? -it's all for a quick buck). Now, please imagine for a second that you think you got an idea about a coin that's not designed to land on the moon, but to be used as a payment method.

The question i`m asking is what can I do about it ? I don't have the resources or the knowledge to make this idea a reality. I can't simply make this on a 'coin-generator website'. A real dev team would be needed, and a real company behind it.

Is there an Instruction manual to make cryptocurrency ?
Is there a place to sell this idea for BTCBTC ?
Should I just share it freely ?
What would you do ?

My idea might be awesome or shit.. or flawed.. or maybe already exist out there so I'm not just asking for myself, but for everyone who thinks he got a vision for the next bitcoin, or the next shitcoin.

Hey Bru

I'm a coin dev, give me a shout if you want some technical help / ideas etc...

Hi people,

I'm running the ccoin faucet here: http://ccoin.altcoinfaucet.net/

However, the whole balance dripped away. May I ask the dev / the community for some donations?

CCoin donations: 12YRRBej3qGwTgky1riFEVewYvjkRv6Dob

Some statistics can be found here: http://ccoin.altcoinfaucet.net/stats/

Thanks in advance,

hey, no worries... more CCN on its way to the faucet now :-)

I thought the point of this coin was to bribe exchanges with coins? I realize that you can't dump your coins for BTC but has the dev contacted exchanges with bounties for adding a KILR/BTC market? Should've named it MeekCoin

Nothing meek about this.
And yes i have contacted a lot of exchanges, and offered reasonable bribes to add KillerCoin. The difficulty we have at the moment is how greedy the exchange voting system is becoming. While i agree with helping out with hosting and running costs of exchanges, on average it costs up to 1BTC to list on a single exchange such as Shitpal, sorry i mean MintPal. Thats about $500 per exchange to list a coin that is not ready to be listed on those exchanges yet.
