Teaching children about bitcoin may have its advantages but I'm also not too comfortable with that idea. Children should be allow to pick interest on their own and choose whether to learn about it or not. The video actually makes sense but it's passing a wrong message to children with that statement "you mentioned criminals twice" labeling government as criminals. Government has its lapses but giving children such impressions at their early age is not a good idea.

The part that caught my attention in the video is the inflation of Bitcoin. Bitcoin can actually not be inflated in the same way that traditional fiat currencies can be because Bitcoin has a fixed supply with a maximum of 21 million coins that can ever be created and once all 21 million coins have been created, no more will be created. The supply will not increase to meet that demand that would lead to inflation.
Yeah labeling government as criminals in the video is a good example that explains why I said let children be children because the impression or elusion that will be created in their immature minds will diffuse to seeing the government as something else.
I have seen videos of where children are interviewed by Steve Harvey on the different things but the fact is everything that has been said in this interviews are all about skills or little experiences in education and other stuffs but not in any way about how to make and save money nor how to use finance neither invest or paradigm shifts like Bitcoin. So I will say according to the national president of my country "Let the children breath don't suffocate them with Bitcoin & and Blockchain technology knowledge".

~Snip~
I agree, I don't know what age the OP is talking about children but if he was talking about children under 10 I would object too. I am the one with 2 children and I personally witnessed raising them and watching them grow up day by day. Therefore, I feel that teaching bitcoin to children at this age is a waste and useless thing. Let them have a beautiful childhood, don't force or force them to do things they don't like. Bitcoin is just money, an investment, they can learn at any time when they grow up. To become rich, it is not necessary to invest in bitcoin early, and those who do not invest in bitcoin do not necessarily become poor.
Yeah it quite unfortunate how some parents try to use their children to achieve the dreams they failed to fulfill, if you couldn't make it to be among the first people to invest and profit from Bitcoin does not mean you should in any way impose them on your children by teaching them Bitcoin and Blockchain technology knowledge at tender ages just to justify yourself that they also will be among the first and sharpest kids to know technology.
Thereby causing brain fatigue for this kids by stressing them to know what you didn't know early enough.
When OP said children or kids there about according National Institutes of Health (NIH) the hierarchy of range from Children (1 year through 12 years) Adolescents (13 years through 17 years. They may also be referred to as teenagers depending on the context.) Adults (18 years or older) so the age that is classified as children here can't even think of anything other than play, eat and sleep. lol that shows it quite irrelevant to teach so cumbersome knowledge.

most adult people dont even know how credit cards function behind the plastic. they just learn how to swipe/use it
most adult people dont even know or even understand or even taught about the economics of credit/debt
Yeah, then someone somewhere would be teaching a child below 12yrs about Bitcoin or Blockchain technology as a whole that is so versatile. how the hell do they want them to understand the fuck about Bitcoin when even so many adults don't understand yet. It's quite unfortunate
1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can happen next time due to a lack of proper knowledge about Bitcoin? on: November 17, 2023, 06:13:49 PM
The Banking system have failed the people in so many ways, it is about time that there are some payback for them. In the previous economic crisis, Banks were bailed out by tax payers money and we just had to take it up the a$$.

A lot of industries have been disrupted by newer technologies and they just had to adapt or die... so the Banks just have to do the same. Let's forget about them, like they forgot about us.. when they harmed us.
The intention of Satoshi in creating bitcoin is not to take avenge or revenge on what you believe banks did to us (those you have lost to the banking system) rather it was for the simple purpose of financial freedom and free from central control by governments.
I don't think banks will be destroyed but it will have to adapt to the new technology and keep it activities if banks are going to be wiped out all over the world it will take years, this year's might be up to a centenary or more or less. Though the disadvantages of banks over shadow the advantages but that should don't make anyone to forget the value it aided to human life.

I acknowledge the fact that no knowledge is a waste but bordering kids with Bitcoin knowledge is completely irrelevant, at some age let children be children teaching them about bitcoin could be beneficial at some point but where they can't put this knowledge use for the time being then it should be set aside till when it is due.
When it comes to newbies it's a basic beginners knowledge that is shared it's quite appreciated

Here is a thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5335515.0 that asked same question some time ago, there you can find all the answers to your question with the response of @mocacinno and I will advise you make use of the search button to find your answers in order not to repeat things that has been treated.
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start with the little you have, you don't need millions of dollars to own BTC. on: November 16, 2023, 08:54:40 PM
It's more like what we call DCAing (dollar cost averaging) which means buying regularly a portion of Bitcoin which is largely supported by many members of this forum there are other method one can consider when investing on Bitcoin which are listed by JayJuanGee in his thread
Once BTC accumulation targets are either established or at least there is some directional appreciation that you have to accumulate some bitcoin, then the next strategy would be to consider how to go about BTC accumulation.  Surely, the best three ways to consider BTC accumulation is through 1) dollar cost averaging (DCA), 2) lump sum investing and 3) buying on dips.  The consideration of these three strategies is also best in the order that I presented them.  DCA has the advantage of having a kind of regular flow into your BTC investment that can really add up over time.  Lump sum investing is many times not available for the vast majority of normies, and sure of course, if you have some abilities to lump sum invest there is nothing wrong with exercising such option because having a lump sum gives you options to invest it all at once or to even engage in some kind of DCA approach with investing the lump sum over time rather than all at once.  Buying on dips is not a bad idea, but it requires timing the market

But your method though still supports buying in a whole because saving in a box before buying will still end up trying to buy in a whole which is not what anyone should be advised it better to buy regular because time matters if you don't buy at a point which you have the money something more important than saving might rag off your savings like health issues that is why we more support DCAing.
1286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How discipline are you in managing your bankroll? on: November 16, 2023, 08:05:51 PM
I have suffered alot of lost in bets so I disciplined myself not to look into any betting platform till I have a 90% sure game. I usually freeze this platforms from notifying me direct to my system because I always have this urge to do more. Even when am losing I always believe I will win the next one and by so doing, I will blow up the whole of the bankroll. Damn it when I win, I feel like the world is on my shoulder I can do it again.

Strategizing my bet is the only I have come to my senses, I play 3 times a week especially on weekends and I usually look at the past games how well they perform and copy from people that think are usually succeeding with their games.

90% sure game? Lol, is there anything like that? Hell no! All games are 50-50% and you just have to make decisions based on what you believe in. What I see in this your comment is a typical explanation of someone who is chasing their loses and that's a very dangerous habit as far as gambling is concerned. When you're chasing losses, you're allowing your emotions to control your decisions and this can lead to poor results. Instead of focusing on trying to make up for your losses, you should just try to focus on the process of improving your gambling skills.
The fact that I called it a 90% sure it may not be a 90% sure game to you but for I strongly believe that every gamble that I consider 90% never fails the 10% is just the fact that it can run short at any time. we know gambling is a 50-50 but when you regularly win on a spot your confidence on that will be high that is exactly what I'm tryna say. I have this games that do 90% sure because they have never fail but am not saying it can't fail alright!  I consider your conclusion that I am chasing after my loses as a fallacy because it is not logical, I mean the premises doesn't warrant your conclusion. it just a win or lose game so I keep playing even when I lose. no matter how you improve your gambling skill you will still have to lose cuz that how it works. even the most skillful gambler still lose. FYI I do not gamble with what I can't afford to lose so saying I chase after my losses is completely a fallacy of petitio principi begging the question.

Empathetically I feel the pain of those scammed I mean I can't blame any victim for this scams because I have seen clone sites look almost exactly the same the difference can be very slight e.g Jumia.com a shopping site in Nigeria and this false Jumie.com. difference of a&e very small to notice.
And I have seen some site clone directly like have a site inside another site. most time it's only developers that can understand the error.
This scams occur regularly so it is a good idea to share with us to create awareness. in part of impersonation its a reoccurring event even on social media I see comedians being impersonated and the fake account even tend to be more real than the original, have more followers than that of the original comedian etc. We should just be more careful to find the original sites and accounts we are dealing with period.
1289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's better to provide Quality and not Quantity... on: November 16, 2023, 11:11:17 AM
Hey forum family!

I am coming to this post for all new members joining here.
I want to share my advice based on what I have seen in the forum till now.

Everyone who starts an account to Bitcointalk feels the urge to post like crazy in order to stay relevant.

But here's the real deal: Quality over Quantity wins every time!

Think about it - a solid, well-thought post speaks louder than a hundred "meh" ones.
Here's why it matters:

Real Talk, Real Connections: When you drop a gem of a post, you're not just talking, you're connecting. Dive deep into discussions that light your fire - you'll build bonds that matter.
You, the Expert: Quality posts show you know your stuff. Whether it's advice or insights, be the go-to person. People notice, trust me!
Not Just Noise: Ever scroll through a thread and see a sea of "lol" and "cool"? Let's not add to the noise. Make every post count, cut through the clutter.
Respect the Scroll: We're all busy, right? A quality post respects people's time. Keep it meaningful, and folks will stick around.

In the end, this forum is like a social community so craft something awesome, something that adds value!
Making quality post is very good it is the most advised in the forum or anywhere else but I will love to add some point to quality posting. Be impactful, do something different.
Every other person tries to make quality post but few are impactful i.e making a difference Just don't write to repeat what every order person has said but think logically and bring out more details in your post. Sometimes I check out the first page of a post almost everyone says the same thing but in different ways though it shows that the most popular answer or replies are correct but I do question myself; why repeat or paraphrase one thing. One thing is you can't give what you don't have.

Alguien podrķa traducir por favor?
Here we write in English but if you need translation you can go to your local board where it is written in your language there you will understand things better. Or still write in your language and translate to English or vise versa.
1290  Other / Meta / Re: Need some support for Nexus (NXS) thread transfer on: November 16, 2023, 01:12:38 AM
In my own opinion, if you're the founder of Nexus then it should be transferred to you but you may or may not be able to manage it yourself because I believe it will been complex handling both the project itself and looking at what people think of it. So you should be getting any assistance from someone but where the problem may lie is being the OP you only have access to editing and rewriting the thread so even if you have an assistant he or she can't have access to your account to write and edit the thread.
So it all end with you still being the OP, therefore I suggest that you should hand the thread and/or be the OP of your Foundation.
1291  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The damage effect of mothers love on: November 15, 2023, 11:11:28 PM
Op your conclusion on motherly love is biased, it is subjective reality/experience that determines how you see motherly love. mother's are absolutely the most valuable gift in childhood, most people that didn't see their mother tend to be unguided because they lack this basic mother love. Not all mothers partake in showing a sided love to there favourite child. some just do it in their subconsciousness and sometimes they tend to realize their mistakes sooner. when you talk about how people become lazy you reason is not valid to be the cause of laziness the children or youths because it's an individual decision but for some it is inherit, I believe in recantation and I discovered that some attitude  are caused by recantation.
Sometimes mother's try their possible best to put children in order but they sometimes resist because of the in built ego and this can not the cause of motherly love.

On a personal level I use to believe that my mother loves my elder brother who where never around since my childhood but when I go to the university my kid sis kept tell me that my mom loves me more than everybody. it keeps reoccurring then I knew she loves everyone equally. you do know about the story of a Shepard who lost 1 sheep out of his 100 sheep so he left 99 to look for the 1 that was show that one lost sheep is more important than 99 that is the same thing with my case. my mom just cares about that 1 that she's not seeing for the mean time. So is applicable to all mothers they show love to that one child that since to be lost than others in order to bring that one close too not to be misguided.

Quote
Conclusively, it all begins from the inside. Mother's love on children is exceptionally incomparable but losses its fundamental obliged significant

In logical reasoning you conclusion is proposition that is not correct or maybe correct in some sense. it is an invalid argument because the premises (The above mentioned things e.g laziness, Enemity amongst the family etc) do not logically imply the conclusion or let me say the conclusion does not logically follow from the premises.

I write dis tin for English because I want make anybody wey go read am understand am well. And plus say op himself write for English.

Hey and thank you for the reply,

What did you primarily look into learning? I was thinking about the whole technology in general so I could understand the terms used often. I've bought coins since around 2019 but I do not know too much (mostly buying ada, xmr, eth, btc).

Thanks.
I frequently advice people to always make us of the search button because almost all the topics have been treated before, so when you search the exact terms you wanna learn you will find best response that have been provided.
There are topics like bitcoin technology terms and abbreviations that you can read and get basic know of the frequently used terms.

In the aspect of buying crypto i strongly advice not to get involved with shit coins because there are pumped  and dumped for a selfish reason.
Just buy Bitcoin and hold for a long time and you will surely get more benefit from it.

I was also thinking perhaps I should concentrate on learning to use wallets better as I only have a few (mainly just use ledger nano x).
Yeah you surely need to learn use wallet better and be more conscious of your security.
Here is a thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0 by @Lauda  to enlighten you on wallets

I never let anything get me worried, I just do what I love to do and I don't think about it anymore. Here in this forum and life in general I know there is no time but everything has time. If anyone is not getting any of the rewards mention by OP at this time should not worry about it. In a personal level I just read alot and contribute where I know I'm making sense. I don't strive for merit or to rank up I just focused on knowledge, I read people like JJG's thread and many others who are impactful and shape myself to impact on people not just being a regular person here.
I believe making impact is the real success if you do something very well and your known for it the journey here in this forum won't stress you. Do something different and focus on knowing more that you speak, i also discovered that most of us new here try to teach when we should learn and that is where we face challenges. You may be making merit and ranking up but at the same time you may not be making any sense.
Infact just do what you know how to do best. If I keep writing I might end up writing more than a thousand words because I have more to say but let's cut the grab. Be a positive vibe

1296  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it difficult for people to get capital easily? on: November 14, 2023, 09:52:23 AM
Getting capital is so hard, me too I use to tell myself at times that why do I get business ideas when I don't have Capital. I question my superbeing (God) that if he can't give me capital then he should give me ideas but realized I was very wrong. Discipline is the key, if you discipline yourself to save up for a business there is nothing that can stop you even your family responsibility can't stop you. I discovered that I have to build myself first before building a business. If you're build up for business then your business is built already.
Someone told me that I am the cause to everything I face, and yeah she was correct. We take responsibility when we are not supposed to take it yet. If you are not your parents why try to act like them. You play a role of a father when your supposed to be a child that's where you begin to get it all wrong because your savings will end up being spent and guess what? the same people you spent on with that money will still question you that what did you do with your money, when you fail. So don't responsibility for your siblings when you're not there parents.
I read a book titled" that which you are afraid of is where your success is" if you understand this title only I guess you will start being successful immediately. Just like you have business idea that you're afraid that it will fail or what will people say, that's what this book talks about just don't think of it just do it and you will find out that you're hitting what you want. For me my biggest fear is how to make post to rank up but after reading this book I just make post I do think of anything else.

To your question " why is it difficult for people to get capital easily? Just know that good things don't come easily if not everyone would have been rich.
1297  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you work toward hodling bitcoin? on: November 14, 2023, 12:07:01 AM
I was thinking of having a different business that generates fiat while running the bitcoin business. You've got a great idea, by expanding the business. But, we'll still have to sell those bitcoin to push the business via adverts and paying assistants working with us. You'd notice that the bitcoin will still not be saved 100 percent. Which is the idea behind this thread.  Because looking at the growth of bitcoin selling them is a huge loss to the business and the entrepreneur. It hurts looking back like trying to change the hand of time and seeing how much bitcoin has been spent in running a business. Like the above example, 12 BTC spent 11 years ago. Though, no matter how we regret it's quite too late. That's why a second method of safe guarding, for a long time, the bitcoin earned. While running along with it a fiat business that can as well be used to maintain the other world business. Running a business that generates bitcoin without requiring us to spend those coins is the best means of hodling bitcoin. Talking about art, I've seen arts on bitcoin that rarely get bought. Unless during the era of NFTs. But, for artists that draw and ask bitcoin as a payment method it's a nice way of generating bitcoin. If they have different source of income, then their whole life doing the business they'll see no reason selling those coins.
The concept of my example is hodling while running your fiat business without spending a dime from the coins generated. Like I said teaching other people can be a source of income for an artist online classes and offline class can offer him or her a source of income that will facilities the business speaking from experience while the actual amount of art sold out using BTC as payment is saved without being spent.
If you're not deeply into art you won't notice that art works are seriously sold steadily.
1298  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gold vs Btc on: November 13, 2023, 10:50:49 PM
Just as Mk4 said it's a generational stuff, the older generation attach so much value to Gold and  it was as good as bitcoin now to them. I think that's the reason why bitcoin exist (something new has to replace gold) because every generation has what they attach they value to. At because of this i believe something stronger than Bitcoin will surely exist in more generation to come. [ If you like criticism this statement it is still the truth] people will keep moving forward and new inventions will exist.
I personally see gold right now as (SOV) A store of value. If I don't want to save my money in fiat I can just buy some gold and keep them save. it will still retain my money with almost the same value it was when i bought it. More like in my country where leadership system is corrupt you can be prisoned for having too much money saved in your bank account. So to avoid this kind of situation i can diversify to gold as a store of value because it will keep my money and even profit me a little bit. For Bitcoin i see it as investment that i can trust and hodl for a long time and huge profit is sure.
1299  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you work toward hodling bitcoin? on: November 13, 2023, 09:21:21 PM
The question is what are the possible means of securing our businesses and at same time saving the bitcoin made through the services we render?
There are possible ways which we can secure our businesses and still save Bitcoin made through the services, like an artist who creates awesome arts can secure his or her business through selling the art works using Bitcoin as payment, I have seen people who sold some art works for Bitcoin. had through this same means set up there art business career, teach people how to create this awesome arts and having their business held up in their local areas & online and at the same time saving Bitcoin through that means. People tend to be successful when they offer a particular services to the world at large and when you have a skill that serves the masses you can secure a business very fast and easy as long as you have build yourself to a standard it's very hard to be replaced.
Then you can save Bitcoin from your services using it as a payment method.
1300  Other / Meta / Re: People commenting on the first page without having read the previous posts. on: November 09, 2023, 08:24:30 AM
This is the second time in a short time that I've seen someone comment on a thread on the first page without having read the previous comments. Does this happen a lot?
Yeah it happens alot, most time I see it to caused by misleading topics/titles, some people use bot notification on telegram and this bot delivers only the titles and the first statement of the thread so people sometimes only read the title/topic having see the topic to be very interesting to them so they immediately write base on the topic or title. when posted or when the thread is finally read. They tend to find out the title is very difficult from what body of the thread is talking about. Thereby making the comments look stupid or off discussion before if looked at very well you might find it has little to what the thread of title of thread is talking about.

Quote
But not reading the first page, especially if the thread is only one page long is a cardinal sin.

I'm about to send a PM to the manager so he doesn't pay him for that post.

What do you think about this?
Not reading the first page is very bad because it the foundation to what anyone should be contributing to any thread, but sending a PM to a manager not to pay a campaign participant is not really advisable for me because I believe the action it too quick. Before sanction can be implemented, caution must be given first at least the offender should be warn before carrying out any sanction thou it is to the campaign manager to decide.

I think OPs of a thread are to lock the thread whenever it reaches a certain number of pages and his question is answered already. If anyone does have anything else to say, he can create another thread for his issue.
Most times I have seen senior colleagues commenting numerous list of threads that are related thereby correcting OPs of thread that such thread have been created already your suggestion that it should be locked can make same type of question repeat itself maybe in different forms.
