12801  Other / Meta / Re: HOW TO REDUCE SCAMMING on: October 17, 2016, 11:44:34 AM
I dont even question wether they are legit or not anymore . In my eyes if you do a self moderated post then you are a scammer .

Yup. I don't think there's any need to clamp down on it myself. That alone is enough of a red flag.

I suppose less worldly members might get caught out by it though. Perhaps there should be a larger message at the top of a self moderated thread letting people know about the possibilities along the same lines as the newbie warning via PM.
12802  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Internet Rumor: Julian Assange Assassinated on: October 17, 2016, 11:41:25 AM
So Pammy's vegan snacks were poisoned? I think the metropolitan police, let alone the Ecuadorians, might have a small issue with hit squads wandering around London. And I was unaware that Julie was wanted by the ATF. Was he growing tobacco in his toilet?
12803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Could Be the First Country to Pass a Cryptocurrency Law on: October 17, 2016, 11:37:48 AM
I don't believe a bleedin' word the Russian government says about crypto any more. Shit or get off the pot.
12804  Economy / Speculation / Re: It took only 11 days to go from 639 to 1148 last time on: October 17, 2016, 10:59:55 AM
Yes, it's strange to me that the halving had so little effect on the price, but whatever.

All of the effect happened prior to the halving and I'm rather surprised it's stuck actually. There are people who claim it'll take a few months to filter through. The same people told us we'd be in the trillions by now so I've not much interest in what they say.
12805  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Ask The Doctor" Adds Bitcoin to Payment Options on: October 16, 2016, 09:38:15 PM
Wonder why they would add bitcoin

For the sake of hubbie's droopy willy of course. And it may not necessarily be for the beloved wife's benefit either.
12806  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin - is it a particle or a wave? on: October 16, 2016, 08:45:26 PM
It's a virus. It slowly spreads, infests and infects the mind of those who choose to let it. It can't be stopped and it can't be killed. It'll always lie in waiting somewhere.
12807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: best way to buy bitcoin from a uk bank accunt? on: October 16, 2016, 08:11:37 PM
Is this a savings account or operating bank account? Do you have the ability to make faster payments and all the 2FA stuff to go with it like card readers or registered phones? You won't be able to do much without that.

I've used Bittylicious in the past with great success. Their premiums can be insane though so a careful eye needs to be kept on them.
12808  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Scenario: The end of the world is coming. What will you do? on: October 16, 2016, 07:49:46 PM
If it's a matter of days then I'd go camping somewhere remote and local with a pile of booze and some friends.

The longer the timeframe the more problematic it's going to be. If it's a few months to one year then everyone else is going to be indulging themselves to suicidal and homicidal extents so much so that the world will become a shit hole long before it actually ends.

Ten or more years will cause cults to spring up. Wars to break out over spaceflight hardware. The window of time available will mean everyone's going to be scrabbling for hope.
12809  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Banks will not adopt blockchain fast on: October 16, 2016, 07:46:03 PM
This will make it more transparent.

I don't think any bank particularly wants that.

We'll see some blockchain adoption if and when banks figure out how they actually want to use it. At present it sounds like they want to be cool kids and that's as far as they've gotten.
12810  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IF Al Gore Ran as an Independent, would he win?? on: October 11, 2016, 09:56:15 PM
It would be very intriguing to see what difference an independent ticket would make for someone with existing track record. Once you're above a certain level of notoriety it may not make all that much difference.

I suspect Al is too rich and comfortable to put himself through another campaign but I'd vote for him for a lark.
12811  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Questions about the war on: October 11, 2016, 09:51:44 PM
War makes money, it also hardens positions that people in power want to maintain. And then there's organic war where groups of people simply hate each other. I like them the best.
12812  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 11, 2016, 08:24:01 PM
Shitty though it is, there'll be plenty of info about it on Coindesk. There's also dedicated ETF news places like this - http://www.etf.com/channels/bitcoin

And r/bitcoinmarkets keeps a close eye on ETF progress. They discuss it a lot in the daily discussion and its progress is linked to in the calendar on the right.
12813  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading issues. on: October 11, 2016, 07:39:13 PM
When you are choosing a reputed trading platform, you will not face any issues.

GDAX has been known to crap out. Kraken is a specialist in flaking out in times of excitement. Gemini did their fat finger rollback. These are all solid Bitcoin trading platforms. They've all had modest issues.
12814  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Bitcoin Lightning Network Transaction Tested Successfully on: October 11, 2016, 06:56:05 PM
History is repeating itself in the Bitcoin world it seems.

There is no Lightning Network transaction without real Bitcoin being attached to it. It wouldn't attract a puff of attention if it was set up to be like that.

There's definitely the possibility of people being duped into using non LN systems but it's easy enough to know where you're at.
12815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Future on: October 11, 2016, 06:40:42 PM
Transactions need to be faster. can't have this hold up. Other currencies will take over?

Bitcoin is the only crypto actually being used for anything. Nothing else is coming within a fraction of its capacity being strained. The fancy claims made by faster alts may instantly fall apart if they were subjected to actual ongoing and heavy usage. But I'm not convinced any alt will ever be put to the test in that manner.
12816  Economy / Economics / Re: Bill Gross, bond guru #1 advises to buy Bitcoin on: October 11, 2016, 06:34:57 PM
It's an interesting one. So many established names who've said positive things about Bitcoin are heavily into metals, yet your average metal buyer is often more sceptical about Bitcoin than a high street moron. They're too busy polishing it and dreaming of trading a shiny lump for a fully functioning female after society falls. They may be disappointed.
12817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Share your portfolio on: October 11, 2016, 06:25:12 PM
Bitcoin. XEM.

That's it. I did have some Node but that was the most pathetic shower of shit I've ever witnessed in terms of how it was run.

Are there other good alts out there? I'm sure there are. I can't be arsed to pick my way through the turds no more.
12818  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump on his last leg? on: October 11, 2016, 06:15:47 PM
I think the main thing I've taken away from this campaign is the importance of voting eunuchs and asexuals in. Those pesky winkles seem to ruin everything. If it's not Donny bearing down on your quim, it's Mr Clinton sliding himself up you when you're not looking or Hilary defending nonces.
12819  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-10-07] Roger Ver to Hold ‘Free Speech Party’ for Scaling Bitcoin Attendees on: October 11, 2016, 06:06:02 PM
It sounds like cheap politics.

Of course it is. And a depressingly large amount of times out of ten it works a treat too. But in this particular case I think people were more interested in the beer rather than sending Bitcoin batty.
12820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Online phishing scheme steals bitcoin from dark web users on: October 11, 2016, 06:00:32 PM
I don't think dark web users are such idiots to use their real emails or credentials so nothing to find for the police in such case.

That's what They want you to think. These people are light years ahead of the average pothead. If they want to find you they will and something like this is a handy fillip.
