12881  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I change my Username on: April 07, 2018, 08:21:11 PM
I’m curious why it is so expensive and difficult to change username.  Is it for security reasons?
Back in the old days, you could donate 10BTC to become a Donator or 50BTC to become a VIP member. Bitcoin was worth way less than it is today, and this amount of BTC was only worth 1 month of hosting for the forum. The price is still the same because it would be unfair for the old Donators/VIP's that paid that amount of BTC back in those days.

And... Theymos (the forum admin) has more things to do than change usernames. That's why he usually doesn't accept this requests, unless...

a. You donate that big amount of money;
b. Have a very good reason;
c. He has time left and recognizes your name from somewhere else (i.e what he did with an old member that had talked to him to get verified in a subreddit);

NOW, TO EVERYONE ELSE READING THIS: PLEASE STOP SPAMMING THIS THREAD WITH THE SAME "YOU MUST DONATE 50 BTC" ANSWERS. CAN'T YOU SEE THAT THE POST HAS BEEN ANSWERED ALREADY?
12882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transactions accelerators for BTC on: April 07, 2018, 07:31:34 PM
Have you tested these accelerators yourself as to their effectiveness?
I'm pretty sure he didn't. From all those websites in the list, only ViaBTC's accelerator works.

The others are 100% a scam. And even if they did work, you don't actually need to use a transaction accelerator when you can get a 1 block confirmation with a 3 sat/byte fee.
12883  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is there any working Bitcoin Debit Card? on: April 07, 2018, 05:58:44 PM
I believe that WageCan[1] has a working card that works worldwide. The only issue is that it costs $225 or $180 with a WageCan referral code.

For more recent news I would check out this thread which is pretty active when there is any important news: 2017 Bitcoin Debit Card Reviews

I would advise everyone to avoid Kinguin and G2A at all costs. They don't care about their costumers and are actually hated by the whole PCMR community.

A quick overview on how shit they are: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/keyresellers

12885  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming BCC - BCH - Bitcoin Cash With Electron Wallet on: April 07, 2018, 03:29:55 PM
Here is my situation:

I created a Cold Storage Electrum-wallet in March 2017 and received 1 BTC.
Today, I wanted to claim the BCH and BTG. But the offline machine crashed Angry and I don't have the private key of my wallet.
I only have the password and seed (...and access to the watching-only version of my wallet).

How do I get back my BTC and claim the BCH, BTG?
Use your backup seed to restore the wallet and spend the coins.

That's what I would do:

1. Restore your cold storage wallet with the seed [Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed -> Write the seed -> Next];
2. For maximum security, create a new cold storage wallet and move all your Bitcoins there; Now you have your old wallet with BCH and BTG, and a new one with only BTC;
3. Download Electron Cash (Electrum fork for BCH), open your old cold storage wallet with it and spend your BCH;
4.a. Download ElectrumG (Electrum fork for BTG created by the BTG team - source), open your old cold storage wallet with it and spend your BTG;
4.b. Or if you have an Android phone, follow this guide to claim the BCH by using Coinomi's android wallet.
12886  Other / Meta / Re: Idea: a merit after reporting 10 or 20 copypasters? on: April 07, 2018, 12:45:19 PM
This would result in a lot of spammers creating fake accounts to copy-paste and report them with their main accounts.

We would have a increase in the number of copy-pasted posts and reports. Mods wouldn't be able to ban everyone and we would have even more shitposts (and spammers would be rewarded with underserved merit points).
12887  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Polish authorities seize 400M EUR allegly belonging to Bitfinex shell company on: April 07, 2018, 02:25:36 AM
There is more stuff from the Polish government. And it looks bad.

Quote
Ministry of Finances has just published an announcement, which can cause massive bankrupties or even suicides of people trading cryptos (especially those day-trading).

From buying/selling capital of 15000 dollars worth of cryptocurrency, you can pay even 500,000 dollars tax or more. Sounds completely unrealistic ? Yet it is the state of reality in Poland now.

Oh by the way for those that didn't know: in Poland the IRS has a time machine. For them, the law works even back in time. I am serious. They don't change the law, they just change the interpretation which can reverse their previous decisions even 10 years back in time.

I know you guys cannot do anything about this, but maybe giving the topic some publicity abroad could help our case. Our government is usually only concerned when it is massively criticized from all sides.

If we don't do anything soon, this will go into law and cryptocurrency trading (or even using it) could case to exist in our country.

12888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase Exchange To Support Withdrawal Of Bitcoin Forks on: April 07, 2018, 02:22:17 AM
-snip-
Yobit accepts every shitcoin if they pay enough. They also tend to credit their users with a lot of Bitcoin shitforks. And that's why people keep using and holding their coins with them even after all the shady stuff they have done.

Coinbase will only support legit coins with a potential future.

Not every shitcoin can show at Coinbase. https://www.gdax.com/static/digital-asset-framework-2017-11.pdf
12889  Economy / Services / Re: Buy positive feedback from DT on: April 06, 2018, 08:10:15 PM
Congratulations! You just earned yourself at least 1 more negative trust from a DT member.

Honestly, I would just give up and create a new account. Or keep trying to buy a new one /s
12890  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum synchronizing too long on: April 06, 2018, 07:57:09 PM
x-post from the other thread. this will probably fix the issue:

I have PC with windows 10 and electrum version 2.7.17 and I have tried restarting both the client and the whole computer. I have used the wallet before, this is the longest i have ever seen it sync.
Why are you using this version? Electrum had a vulnerability that was fixed on version 3.0.5 and IIRC some people with Tails were having sync problems until they upgraded their wallet to version 2.9.3+;

Electrum 3.1.2 is already available. Update your wallet and try again: https://electrum.org/#download

Anyone can post there.

Ivory Tower would be a better option since you need to be at least Member to post there.
12892  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Limitations to join new channels in Telegram???? on: April 06, 2018, 06:18:54 PM

The CHANNELS TOO MUCH error occurs when you have subscribed to a lot of channels or joined a lot of supergroups. So, if you have crossed that limit then you will face this error.

The current limit is 500.

So, I will suggest to unsubscribe from a few of those channels or leave a few of those supergroups that you don’t need. After you do that, you can try subscribing to channels or join supergroups. You can save the usernames of those channels or groups somewhere like in a Telegraph file so that you can access them when you need them.

12893  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: April 06, 2018, 05:16:51 PM
Can anyone explain why I am still stuck at 28 Activity even though the 2 week period has already lapsed? Do I need merit to become a Jr. Member?
You are not. I'm seeing 34 points of activity.

It takes some time for your activity/rank to update.
12894  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: YoBit Wallet status: Maintenance ? on: April 06, 2018, 12:01:32 PM
Depends. If they disabled deposits/withdrawals because of an outdated client, they will usually ask a developer or member of the community to do the work and update it.  Until them, they will keep it disabled.

If it's just a regular maintenance, nobody can know when will it end.
12895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I change my Username on: April 06, 2018, 01:29:00 AM
Unless you are a Donator (costs 10BTC) or have a very good reason, just forget about it.
12896  Other / Meta / Re: Opening Pandora's Box: Additional footers and possible rules on: April 05, 2018, 10:57:56 PM
You can't because of this:

24. Advertisements (including signatures within the post area) in posts aren't allowed unless the post is in a thread you started and is really substantial and useful.[9][e]

12897  Other / Meta / Re: I just got a "forgot password" email with an IP address from Brazil on: April 05, 2018, 08:13:01 PM
I'm sure everything is safe since they would need access to my email to be able to change the password, right?
Yes. AFAIK you only need to input the account username to request a "password reminder", so your account is probably safe.
12898  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SegWit wallets on: April 05, 2018, 08:04:23 PM
I don't see a good alternative to coinomi for segwit addresses right now. I hope, mycelium will update some day to segwit, because its the best and securest android wallet in my opinion.
Samourai it's a way better option (and IMO the best Segwit mobile wallet).

Mycelium is looking pratically dead in my eyes after the whole ICO fiasco and how it's been 7 months since the Segwit activation and they don't even have plans on supporting it (they plan to release BCH support first - which is sad).

12900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: What is the best bitcoin wallet on: April 05, 2018, 03:55:40 PM
All seems work fine but my favorite one is Coinbase since they are implementing various coins as time goes to equip their wallet providence. Soon they gonna accept the ERC20 tokens as well.

I think that is a rumor that Coinbase is going to accept ERC20 tokens,because there is no offical announcement in their site and also I read some threads the Coinbase officials confirms that they don't have any plan yet to have ERC tokens in their wallets.
Google "Coinbase erc20". This is literally the second result: https://blog.coinbase.com/adding-erc20-support-to-coinbase-fe9cba6782b

It says that they have intentions to support erc20 tokens in the future.
