12901  Economy / Reputation / Re: Could I be safe from negative trust if I lead ANN of a scam project? on: January 16, 2018, 05:18:43 PM
You should be 100% transparent about your role in the project.  For example, if you receive a payment for making the ANN thread, you should be open about it.  You should also be cautious of the project and request to see their business plan as well as what they're doing to accomplish it.  I tend to look for signs like how much money the developers have put into the project out of their own pocket.  If the developers have no product, don't want to be listed as the developers, haven't put any money into the project besides fancy graphics, and you have no knowledge of any other successful projects, then you should probably not get involved.

Mostly though, be transparent.  Whether a project turns out to be a scam or not is largely beyond the control of paid 3rd parties.  If you are 100% transparent about your role, and their is no ill intent, it would be difficult for a reasonable person to blame you.

He used to shill for GLBSE https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=47490.0 [GLBSE] MergedMining BTC/NMC Mining Company and pirateat40's Bitcoin Savings & Trust https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=75843.0 not least among classic scams from the good old days.

I didn’t shill for GLBSE. I founded MergedMining and ran it until someone else bought a majority of the shares and took it over. Then I took what I learned from that experience and used it to create NastyMining.

As for pirateat40’s savings and loan, I was the only person providing insurance for deposits and when it collapsed I paid out everyone their insured amounts. Nothing but satisfied users, including our own famous NastyFans supporter, coblee.

Thanks for pointing this out for people who might not be aware of just how long I’ve been protecting user funds from scams on this forum.
12903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO][ANN]🌙🌙 🌙 Moonlite - Large scale, green crypto mining ICO 🌙 🌙 🌙 on: January 15, 2018, 02:47:58 PM
This is an interesting ICO.. so Interesting I actually signed up for my 1st signature campaign in almost 5 years for it. A well run, mining organisation is so needed in this space, it surprises me that no one has tried this sooner. The team looks solid and the concept strong.

Others have "tried this sooner."  I have been running public Bitcoin mining projects since 2011 that are now powered by solar, wind, and manpower.  Great to see others finally stepping up to the plate and entering the space after so many years.  Hopefully this mining project sees better success than others who have tried, as they all went bankrupt and lost their investor funds.

Please ignore OG. His business is a depreciating asset. Month on month it loses V BTC price so he posts stats in USD. Also be failed to pay back loans in full due to shitty investments in mining companies. He has less hash than a hobby miner and if he wasn't treasurer for the forum and on DT would of been called out years ago. Anyway good luck all here not that we will need it

If TMAN is shilling for something, you can almost guarantee it's not honest.  Be warned.
Please take your drama elsewhere instead of trying to damage a good project.

People should be aware that this ICO is paying users to advertise who attack other community mining projects. That’s obviously not the kind of behavior any sort of honest issuer would engage in. It’s actually a massive red flag.
12904  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: hilariousandco, Mitchell,Vod,Ognasty Bitblisscoin.com could be a scamsite on: January 15, 2018, 03:43:39 AM
I have nothing to do with this at all. Not sure why I’m being mentioned. I’m not a mod here.
12905  Other / Archival / Re: . on: January 14, 2018, 10:15:15 PM
I just realized that these coins are still available from the NastyFans webstore:
https://nastyfans.org/mint

for a total of 0.0372BTC plus shipping, so it would not be right to accept more than what you can just buy them for.
If people want to cancel/remove their bid that would be ok
Plus, I will honor the winning bid at that price, as that would only be fair.
Thoughts?

Thanks for this MJ. Don’t forget your coins have some pending distributions. It’s also a manual process making these, so if someone thought the hologram or engraving placement was exceptional, they may want to pay a premium to eliminate the possibility of me not getting the alignments as nice on new rounds.
12906  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins Etc.. (Makers Edition) on: January 14, 2018, 09:19:56 PM
Also, if you look at the 2 rows of coins mid-cover, they are reversed for the 2 versions
And they continue to the side, so making it kind of a neat side view when seeing both as seen in the 2nd picture

Cool.  I didn't know that.  Thank you for sharing.

Probably worthwhile to have a reference thread for the various versions of the book.

Seems appropriate to have the information listed somewhere.
12907  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: January 14, 2018, 09:09:27 PM
Out of curiosity, does the wording of this thread (fanclub, donations, etc.) actually prevent the SEC from prosecuting this as an illegal security, or is this just due to luck.

It isn't just wording on a thread.  It is the reality of the situation.  There are no promised returns of any kind.  NastyFans as an organization has never profited in any way from the sale of seats or anything else, it has no physical assets, there are no paid employees, no company issuing anything, & it isn't even based in the US.  It really is a fan club for Bitcoin enthusiasts that I and others donate their time and energy to so that the community can have a fun use for their Bitcoin.

The part that is confusing is that the returns are largely from donations that I personally make with my mining operation or coin sales and software development is largely done by nonnakip for free over a period of many years.  It's hard for some people to imagine others out there spending their time and money to donate to strangers so the community has something cool to display, yet that is the reality of the situation.  If you ask me, NastyFans is more closely aligned with a charity than an illegal security, but calling it a fan club is accurate.
12908  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins Etc.. (Makers Edition) on: January 14, 2018, 05:20:41 PM
There were 35 "Maker's Editon" books potentially. Only 19 of these have been made and sent out
These were not associated/did not come with any COA/Signature set
Being that, many makers were sent/bought sets and most of these remain as loose sets.
A few of the makers had me assemble their books (Blazed and OgNasty are 2 that I remember)
And according to my records, only 2 Maker's Edition were sent/sold to a non-maker

Any idea how many of those “Maker’s Edition” versions got signature sets that were also the upgraded color prints?
12909  Economy / Securities / Re: 📈 NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: January 14, 2018, 02:52:18 PM
The website says I sold 10 of my 20 seats.  Cool, except I don't see the transaction.  I am a bit concerned with the website telling me "payments for und3rd0g on hold".   How do I get off HOLD?   Will that release the funds from the 10 seat sale?   How do I get the payment for 10 seats out of limbo?  Any help appreciated.  Thanks!

All BTC sent from NastyFans is bundled and sent with the weekly distribution.  You don’t need to do anything but wait for the next distribution.

I avail the service of these Guys for Ditcoin ICO project promotion. Their service is excellent and very professional, I will use this service again in my future campaigns. Thanks OG.

Thanks BlockEye.  Look forward to working with you again in the future and wish you luck with your project.

12914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sell Ripple Now? on: January 12, 2018, 07:12:56 PM
Hello Everyone,

Ripple started to drop since Coinbase declared not to add any crypto's anymore.

Is this the moment to get rid of the Ripple we own, or does Ripple still have a bright future?

Thanks!

That depends why you bought it I guess.  If you bought it to use it, then this shouldn't be a concern.  If you bought it only hoping to resell it to someone else later for more, fully embracing the greater fool theory, then you should probably sell.
12915  Economy / Services / Re: LEGENDARY BITCOIN ESCROW SERVICE (More than 19K BTC transferred) - 0.003 BTC! on: January 12, 2018, 04:22:29 PM
What is the best way to safely trade or sell physical coins?  Do you offer any kind of escrow service for them?  Thank you!

Document everything.  Use escrow.  Physical coins and miners are a vast majority of the escrows I handle.

NastyMining's SBTC from the "Super Bitcoin" fork has been exchanged for LTC and sent to the LTC holding address:

($100 was also sent to the domain registrar for future use)
12917  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommended bitcointalk escrow services on: January 10, 2018, 06:31:09 PM
I'd be very cautious of someone trying to get you to use their escrow service with a 0 fee.  Transaction fees alone for decent confirmation times can be as much as 0.0017 BTC currently.  I'd question the motivations of anyone who was willing to lose money for the chance to hold your coins.
12918  Other / Meta / Re: Two new no-signature boards on: January 10, 2018, 05:16:09 PM
If the name "Ivory Tower" wasn't intended as a satirical jab at the current situation of the forum as well as the new boards' position within the aforementioned context, you might've misnamed it.

The name is supposed to be whimsical and slightly self-deprecating, not to imply that the idea of such a section is stupid/wrong.

I'll admit I glanced at the calendar when I saw the name.  My first thought was, "It can't be April already."
12919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: altcoin investment strategy (max amount & amount per coin) on: January 10, 2018, 05:10:27 PM
What do you think would be a good strategy to invest in altcoins?
What total amount would you invest? How many altcoins would you pick? and what amount per altcoin would you invest? Or go for different amounts for each coin?

I'll give an example to make my question(s) a bit more clear. Let's say I want to invest $250 in altcoins. Would it then be a good idea to pick 10 coins and invest $25 in each? Or is it better to pick 5 coins and invest $50 in each?

Personally, I think the best strategy for beginners is to mine using their computer's GPU.  There's a high probability of recovering your investment through mining or reselling your GPU so it is low risk.  It will heat your room during the winter, and it gives you flexibility to mine different coins.  This way you aren't left gambling on market pricing as a means of income.  It can also be a lot of fun and a great learning experience to get involved with the network instead of gambling on it.
12920  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [11.2kW SOLAR/WIND/MAN] NastyMining Green Energy Project ☀️💨💪🔋 on: January 10, 2018, 03:54:22 PM
What we need to know now is the procedure to purchase from this platform and the prospect it
possesses for intending subscribers.Looking at the specifications shown, does that reflect what each
subscriber must purchase or a part of the accessories listed. What is the profit rating vis-a-vis the amount of
seats purchased by a member?Thanks

Your questions seem to be about the NastyFans seats and not the green energy project. I would direct you to the NastyFans thread for more information on them.
