12941  Economy / Speculation / Re: Christmas Call: $700 on: December 27, 2015, 01:02:46 AM
Seems that we will break $475 today or tomorrow
Next resistance is at $700
This will take some time to break
We can reach new ATH in February/March
Than we will see the start of the next bubble ...

Merry Xmas!  Grin

12947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Killer App? on: December 26, 2015, 10:19:13 AM
If there was a single application that would cause a mass adoption of Bitcoin, what would it be? What is the one single killer app that would make Bitcoin accepted worldwide and cause mainstream adoption?

It seems that whatever it is it would have to be something cool. Something that attracted the attention of the mainstream consumer that required Bitcoin as an entry gateway. Something that made the average person go "Huh... That's interesting" and go to their computer and type 'Killer App' into google.

What's needed isn't a Bitcoin killer app. It's a killer app that needs Bitcoin.

Ideas?

A black market web app operating in the Tor network.
12948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Volume is ANTI-liquidity on: December 26, 2015, 10:16:52 AM
Good post.  So everyone, avoid low volume and illiquid coins.  And be wary of sudden spikes in volume in illiquid coins.  That's a sure ticket to bagholders land.
12949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How does an altcoin die? on: December 25, 2015, 02:51:59 PM
Presumably if a number of people still have copies of the blockchain on USB sticks or somewhere it may be moribund, but not actually dead. I guess if a number of people made a few transfers, and did a bit of mining, it could be revived. I suppose the question really is - would anybody want to?

Would it be profitable?
12950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Skepticism on: December 25, 2015, 02:42:27 AM
Let us wait until it's in a semi operating condition before deciding what's what. Perhaps it'll never reach a working iteration or maybe it'll be what we always dreamed of and more.

This.  And who wrote that article?

One group I see that could be threatened by LN is the industrial mining cartel.

Did Elephant bring a lot of users in Ethereum?
12952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT died last night! on: December 23, 2015, 09:40:11 AM
BTS is on to something...  Merging the order books of small exchanges into one large liquid distributed exchange is a really novel idea.  It's a bummer the idea didn't fly...  I hope it does in the future.

Oh come on, they intentionally set the whole thing up so it will always be controlled by a select few individuals.  How is that decentralized?  How is that even a cryptocurrency?

DPOS is somewhat of an ok compromise, although I agree with you that decentralized is better, I don't hate their solution...  Not really.

But the merging of small exchanges order books into one big one is really cool.
12953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mirrax's HIGH RISK altcoin investment guide for 2016 on: December 23, 2015, 09:33:48 AM
If you gain or loose on my advice ... I do not care.

I think we're all going to loose on this advice.   Roll Eyes

Agree with NXT comment.  But I disagreemthat BTS and ETH are scams.  One could argue that they are more legit than NXT.  But all 3 are not scams.  But people in their community are allegedly corrupt taking advantage of its members.
12956  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Industrial Miners and ROI Question on: December 22, 2015, 12:42:22 AM
I'm writing a paper on Bitcoin mining/cloud hashing and came across this comment.  I was wondering what others think about this.   I would also like to know more about the sustainability and profitability of industrial Bitcoin miners from all of you.

Thanks.

i think the majority already roied on their old equipments, they are there since many years already

a random chinese farm with 100 peta spent something like, what...100k btc?(5 btc 1 antminer s7 x 20k s7(100peta/5tera)), but they can produce 500 btc daily x 365 = 180k btc...

this mean that any farm running s7 can pay their equipment in 6 months, and then every new added asic can be payed in no time, they only need to face the electricity bills at present

this electricity bills is ridiculous low, because the ratio between the earning and consumption for 1 s7 is 8:1(8 in earning 1 in consumption), $360/$45(monthly) at 0.05 cent per hour

maintenance cost can be done by some 2-3 guys, once in a months, i don't see a big problem with it, it would not increase the overall cost by much, probably peanuts

if you give $1k a month to one chinese guy, i'm sure he can clean you 1k machine in one day...
12957  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your opinions needed. How sustainable is BTC mining longterm? on: December 22, 2015, 12:34:54 AM
Interesting to see all these 'expert' opinions missing out on very high maintenance costs...
You people certainly never did any mining of any significant scale....

Again.. It would be nice to have solid numbers on this.

12960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are coins like Namecoin and Peercoin so cheap? on: December 21, 2015, 01:52:08 PM
Not enough demand for them.  It's just one of those things, you know?
