Good News for India

Shubman Gill has been discharged after being in the hospital at Chennai's Kaveri Hospital. He got hospitalized due to a drop in platelet count as he was suffering from dengue. Due to his sickness, he missed the first two matches of the World Cup against Australia and Afghanistan. As per the news, he is all set to join the team and play against Pakistan on Saturday.

Australia struggling against South Africa's good batting, de Knock has taken the responsibility of scoring runs. He has already scored 81 runs in just 76 balls, the way he is going he would easily get another 100. Rassie van der Dussen is rotating the strike which is a good thing to do and hitting the odd boundaries. These two have the ability to up the South African run rate in no time.

Considering that they have played only a few matches in the World Cup, it is a good total. They will be overwhelmed with their achievement considering they were 3 down with only 63 runs on the scoreboard. It now depends on how efficiently they can bowl on a pitch that favors batters. The Indian team has an excellent batting order and on a pitch like this one it should not create any issue for them. The best scene of today was when Naveen came to bat and Virat tried to run him out, that got wasted because of Rahul. The next event would be when Kohli comes to bat and he is bowling to him, it would make this match more exciting.  

Afghanistan has a good bowling attack, they have the ability to take early wickets. The decision to bat first depends a lot on whether the pitch is batter-friendly or not for now it is looking batter-friendly. Afghanistan has now lost only 4 wickets and scored 214 runs in the 41st over. Hashmat has got 72 runs in 81 balls and there is a good chance that he might get his first century in the World Cup. Shiraz has been costly today, I feel he should have been rested and Shami should have been given a chance. In pitches like this one, Shami is always good as he has the ability to skid the ball suddenly.

The good part about the Indian team is that they have become partnership breakers. Hardik has been brought into the attack as of now he has been successful in this match. I think India with their batting lineup would be able to chase anything beyond 250 and under 300. Afghanistan is playing a sensible game they are not taking any risk, whenever they find a loose ball it goes out of the boundary. 200 crossed before the 40th over started, wickets gone 4, they would start going after the ballers after the 40th over.  India needs to break this partnership before it matures and destroy India's objective of restricting Afghanistan within 300.

Until now all three wickets were taken by the pace bowlers. Jadeja is bowling now, don't see him is getting any help from the wicket. The pitch still looks good for batters. Afghans are struggling because the bowling and fielding of India has been good. The run rate is below 5, I doubt they will be able to get to 250. If they want to beat India they would need more runs than 250. I think a target of 280 and above can be defended on this pitch.

I don't think Afghanistan made the wrong decision to bat first, the Delhi pitch is a good batting pitch. What I am curious to see is whether they can give a good target to India. They have already lost two wickets, Gurbaz got out because of a clever catch taken by Thakur. The current run rate is below 5 which is bad on a batting track. They need to up their tempo otherwise they won't be able to get a decent score on the scoreboard. I believe anything above 280 by Afghanistan will not be that easy to chase for the Indian batters.

Good start by the Indian bowler, both Bumrah and Shiraz are in attack mode. Rohit has kept an attacking field which is a good sign, Shardul Thakur is a good choice on this pitch. He is an all-rounder and he will give more depth to the batting lineup. The pitch looks excellent for batters, a high-scoring match is being expected. Afghanistan lost their first wicket within the first 10 overs, Bhumrah took the wicket. I feel sorry for Shubhman Gill, the guy was in good form. I hope he recovers soon and join the team.

Good comeback by Pakistan in these last overs. They gave only 45 runs in the last 9 overs. There is a good chance of Srilanka getting their first win. The last time Pakistan chased more than 340 runs was this year in Lahore against Australia. If they can recreate that same magic then they will emerge as a winner. For now Srilankan team is looking better than Pakistan. Kushal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama are the reason why Srilanka has a big score on the scoreboard.

Mendis destroyed the hope of Pakistani team to restrict Srilanka under 250 runs. When he was batting the run rate was above 8, after his departure it is hovering between 6 and 7. They still have 10 more overs to face and they will easily score more than 300 runs. Sadeera Samarawickrama is batting very well on 81, he is eyeing for the century. After the century he would try to increase the run rate. They have a few batters left who can come in the end overs and hit the ball for six or fours. Pakistani batting would be tested today if Srilanka gets beyond 350.

Nissanka got overconfident and gave his wicket as he was caught. Mendis is still playing well and has got his half-century, Samarawickrama is rotating his strike. The current run rate is above 6, which is a good sign for the Srilankan team. Pakistan bowlers are trying their best but sloppy fielding is causing issues. The wicket is not even helping the Pak spin attack, this Srilankan side is looking completely different.

I agree if Srilankan batter gets this partnership going then they will easily score 300 runs. Nothing going the right way for Pakistan not only fielding their bowling has been poor they have been leaking extra runs now and then.

The news is not at all good. It is still not clear whether he will be missing only the next match or all matches. Getting hospitalized due to dengue takes a serious toll on the body. If he does recover fast then whether he will be fit to play is a question mark. I hope he recovers fast and plays as he was in his best form before the World Cup started. Meanwhile, I believe Ishan might continue to open the batting with Rohit tomorrow. The Indian team management has not given an indication of a possible change as of now.   

Pakistan started well with a wicket in the second over. Then after both Afridi and Ali are struggling with their bowling. They have given 6 runs in extra which is not expected from them. Srilanka looking good, runs are coming easy for both batters. It is very early phase of the game, Pakistani bowling would improve I guess.

England played really well today against Bangladesh after thier bad start in the World Cup. They gave the Bangladesh batter a target of 365 runs. I don't think Bangladeshi batters would be able to chase those runs. England do have a good pace attack to defend their target.

I generally ignore topics that look like a rewrite of an old topic on the Bitcoin discussion board because some newbies might want to look into them. In most scenarios when I report a stupid post the moderators do not remove it. I feel the Bitcoin discussion board is where most spamming happens other than the Gambling board.

323 runs is the target for the Netherlands which is not easy to chase. New Zealand's top and middle order did their job in getting those runs. I was expecting another explosive innings from Ravindra today, he did score his 50. This guy is an asset for the New Zealand side and we will see him play in the next IPL. Another top performance by them as expected of course. They were the favourite to win today and it looks like they will win by a good margin. As of now they are the top team in the points table with a good run rate.

Just 32 runs needed for India to win the match. Virat Kohli did most of what he is expected. I felt he wanted to be their till the end, in those humidity condition he did very well. KL R ahul is still batting with Hardik Pandya. It is now for these guys to get those winning runs. BTW, there is a big crowd in the stadium, we only support our team   I felt.

If India wants to get it done then they should do it within 5 overs. The net run rate is something that should be looked  into by Indians in the upcoming matches.

Only 8 runs needed. This game is over for me as India wins the first match in World Cup 2023 against Australia.

Shreyas Iyer was stupid enough to hit that shot. He, being an experienced batter should know that the ball is not coming to the bat. He should have watched the dismissal of Ishan Kishan, Rohit was unlucky I felt that the ball was missing the wicket while it wasn't. Kohli and Rahul for now are playing well, Kohli did get frustrated and hit a careless loft which was dropped. I hope these two just think about taking the ones and two and whenever they get an oddball hit it for four or six. This wicket is now giving assistance to both pacers and spinners, not that easy to bat.

India Vs Australia

India played its first match in this World Cup today at Chennai against the Australian team. Today I personally have witnessed an Indian team that was playing way above their original game. The bowling attack was perfect and the response from the fielder was way beyond every Indian's imagination. The bowler's and fielder's perfect coordination helped India restrict the Australian batter to score just 199, the target to win for India is 200 runs. After the Asia Cup finals, this is the second time the Indian team performed so well after being asked to bowl first by the opponent.

Shubhman Gill is not playing today, the bowler compensated for his absence. It should be now easy for the Indian batters to chase 200 runs unless the batting order collapses, which I am certain won't happen.

Complementing the best spin bowling of the Indian trio was exceptional Indian fielding. Restricting Australia to just 199 runs is a big accomplishment of the Indian bowling attack. The best dismissal for today was when Jadeja bowled out Steve Smith, he never expected the ball to turn so much. Australia does have two spinners but they are not as good as Indian spinners. In order to win this match, Australia must make effective use of their pace bowlers. I believe that it would be a tough task for the Australian bowlers to defend a low target of 200 runs. If they had a 20 or 30 runs extra on the existing target then it would have made a difference.

The Indian team led by Rituraj Gaikwad has won another GOLD MEDAL for India. I too was expecting an Indian vs Pakistan match, which eventually did not happen. Considering the players of Pakistan who are playing in PSL and other premier leagues. India won the gold medal after the match was abandoned due to the rain and India had a good overall run rate plus points in this game. The silver medal went to Afghanistan and the bronze went to Bangladesh. Pakistan did not win due to DLS while playing against Bangladesh today.
