13001  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fake Blockchain.info account on Twitter - Be careful on: March 31, 2014, 03:35:00 PM
It is suspended now. I wonder how he get those followers.

Probably bough them. There are people on these forums that sell followers and retweets etc.
yup exactly
there a some people who can raise follower even to 10K in just few days
just be careful with phising attemps
they can achieve 10k  followers in the blink of an eye. there are a lot of services like that.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=507408

That guy sells 5k followers for $10.

So, the whole attack costs just about $100, or even lower if he got some bulk order discount...

I wonder if they made their money back?

Just see how many blockchain.info account thefts are reported every week. If they can pocket a part of it, it is far more than $100.

The people behind the Twitter account might not've been behind any successful hacks though.
13002  Other / Off-topic / Re: HOW I GOT BANNED FOR BITCOINTALK FOR 14 DAYS. BY BOBSURPLUS on: March 31, 2014, 03:19:13 PM
Anyways.. I just want to warn you all out here that the MODS dont care about rules or image. I have been nothing but a productive member of this community since day one and I find it hard to believe the mods allow people to post "find Mark and his family" "fucking nigger ..." ect as posts but ban me for trying to get the word out to people I was already talking with.

So my advice to you all, walk as if you're walking on eggshells in the forum because the mods do what they like, when they like, to whom the like or dont like.

Those Find Mark and His family / death threat threads aren't allowed and are usually deleted, but the mods just don't really like altcoin spam here and if one person reported your message as such then that's why you were banned.
13003  Other / Off-topic / Re: April Fools Tomorrow- Let's see who the jokers and the suckers are on: March 31, 2014, 03:11:01 PM
Tomorrow is April fools.  There's going to be people and companies putting out hoax stories.

Lots of people in the forum are going to be tricked, and we're probably going to see a bunch of misleading threads.

I started this topic to say 'try not to be one of the fools'

Post any hoax stories in this thread when you see them.

Peace

I've been cheated, lied to our government do?
Go home sentence, you're drunk!

Haha. Seems there's a couple of drunk sentences in here Cheesy.

Yes, you're fine.
Does activity update at the same time for everyone? Shocked

Yes. The activity updates every 30 minutes though, but the new two week period starts for everyone at the same time.
13005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expected headlines tomorrow on: March 31, 2014, 03:03:57 PM
Well it will be april fools day but i don't think that these headers would be anywhere near funny..

It seems most days are April Fools Day in Bitcoinland. I just hope we don't get headlines that affect the price drastically. but you never know with idiot panic sellers.
13006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Other data in the blockchain? on: March 31, 2014, 03:02:22 PM
I've never been a master at the technical side of bitcoin. I know enough to explain to new people why they should embrace it in political discussions and that's about all.

Recently I learned that other data is stored in the block chain. I got to thinking: What stops someone from putting child porn for example and screwing over many people who would then have a copy stored in their blockchain?

I don't think this can be done on the Bitcoin blockchain, but there are other coins that have this feature built in. I have no idea about the ramifications of this though.

13008  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-03-31] Two sides of "drug coins" on: March 31, 2014, 02:58:46 PM
Just another two altcoins at the end of the day. Giving it a specific name isn't going to ensure it is used for whatever it's named after. If dispensaries are going to accept cryptocurrency then I'm sure they'll just stick with Bitcoin.
Agreed. Adopting new altcoins is just too complicated. No services for it, no exchanges, no demand etc.
Totally agree with you, but as for me, there is one exeption http://cointelegraph.com/post/clean_water_coin_reinventing_charity.
The concept is so good, that I don't think about this coin as I usually think about altcoins. I'm not sceptical at all, I hope this one will do good.

Link doesn't work, but these type of charity gimmicks never really work either.

Corrected the link, sorry, my fault.
I know that it's a little bit naive to believe in such charity, but I really want this one to do well. I feel that I love the idea.

Still doesn't work for me. Is there a link to the coin on here?
13009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could WalMart go for a cryptocurrency. on: March 31, 2014, 02:57:02 PM
Most of you probably got the news that WalMart is suing Visa over excessive fees:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/27/walmart-suing-visa-credit-card-swipe_n_5045295.html

So my thoughts are:

Could WalMart start using bitcoin, and would bitcoin be able to scale up to that task currently?

Hopefully these type of extortionate credit card fees will only highlight the advantages of Bitcoin.

I'm not even foreign to the idea that in the future, various big corporations will have their own cryptocoins. Amazon-coin, WalMart-coin etc.

I think that's a distinct possibility. I'm sure big companies like Apple, Amazon or Facebook will use their own money in the future.

I dont think it's real, even though i'm sure this day will come soon

It's not real, but that's the joke.
13013  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-03-31] First Bicoin fight night in London on: March 31, 2014, 02:26:52 PM
Yeah, would be cool to see more events with prize money in BTC. Good publicity.

Quote
"We have put together an 8 man elimination K-1 Rules tournament, where the winner will receive £5000 in Bitcoin.  We have sourced the absolute best fighters from the UK & Europe and they are ready to put on a great show for the martial arts and Bitcoin fans."

I wonder  when they give the winner 5k worth of Bitcoin, as it might not be worth that on the day haha.
13014  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin is "NOT" Legal Tender According to IRS on: March 31, 2014, 02:18:33 PM

Places like the US and UK like to give the impression that they're better and less corrupt than these nations, but they're not. They continually use these double standards whilst pretending to be morally superior and civilised.

very obvious now. we need some kind of protection from tyrannical psychopaths and their blackmailing i would say. But let's wait and see and give them one last chance to make it right and apply same standards before we start rebellion. They may come up with another law after all in case their thinktanks get fed this forums information what i would think is the case.

Unfortunately people aren’t that smart nor do they really care. If they did we would've already had a revolution/rebellion.

I like this quote:

so what role plays bitcoin here?  Roll Eyes

Because Bitcoin is decentralised, Fiat banking systems aren't.
13015  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: tax question on: March 31, 2014, 02:17:35 PM
yeah, vampires need to suck blood. That is just the way it is i guess.

Other question: who can i turn to when bitcoin fails and my investement goes to zero over night?

No one. I wouldn't put all your money in Bitcoin or one investment though.
13016  Other / Off-topic / Re: funny video about bitcoin on: March 31, 2014, 02:14:28 PM
Not really funny. Just a crappy ad for Bitcoinwiki.
13017  Other / Off-topic / Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. WTF? on: March 31, 2014, 02:12:05 PM
Fake and stolen passports are a massive problem and not that uncommon. Most are just used by illegal immigrants etc though, not terrorists. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/03/09/stolen-passports-malaysia-flight/6230767/

Yepp, agreed - the whole terrorist thing is owerblown. More people die every day in car accidents in the US than from the hands of terrorists. Not to talk about deaths from mixing prescription drugs and alcohol for example. It's good to know that the money is used where they're most needed!

Well 'terrorism' is just used as a propaganda tool. The biggest terrorist network in the world is the USG. Apparently it's not terrorism unless you're a Muslim though (or look like you might be one).

And a good argument for the plane not landing anywhere is that how could it ever be used again without being spotted, and if it never was used again why take it in the first place?

And the most reasonable explanation is that everybody just perished at sea.

Yep, exactly, but this sort of logic wont satisfy conspiracy theorists.
13018  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: tax question on: March 31, 2014, 02:06:06 PM
If i happen to live near a border can i not just cross that border to the neighboring country, get 10k$ for btc (or what ever crossborderlimit is) in the other country and then return back to homeland? Since i am not citizen of the other country and don't live or work there and on the other hand the realisation of gains did not occur inside homeland would i have to pay taxes? To whom? What taxes?

If you're a resident of a country you'll be eligible for taxes to that country regardless or crossing borders for deals). Obviously different places have different laws, but legally you'll still have to pay tax if it's over the taxable threshold (like capital gains etc).

may sound stupid but is it possible to not be a resident of any state? For example: homeless  Tongue
i guess i have to buy a ship then and move to international waters to do exchanges on the open sea ... harr, harr  Grin
lol ... too much coffee ...

You can renounce citizenship, yes, but being homeless doesn't make you stateless though.
13019  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Kim Jong Un Had His Uncle Eaten Alive By 120 Revenous Dogs on: March 31, 2014, 02:03:37 PM
I can't believe he would sit there as his family member is devoured by 120 dogs.  That is sick I also remember reading that there were others in the faimly that were exiled and a few more that were going to be sentenced to death.

This could be a propaganda, this is hard to prove and no evidence is supporting this.

It almost certainly is.
