Some strange magazine. )

That's what I thought.  So, not BITMAIN...

I have to give this site credit on being creative to get clicks.   Made one heck of a ad and even a littte buzz.

I'm about to give up and scrap it all to magazine publicity stunt.
13022  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer C1 liquid cooled by chevrolet :) on: November 15, 2014, 08:12:06 PM
Don't know on efficiency but cool level is a 10!  Nicely done.

Maybe make it variable speed and use a car gas pedal Smiley
13023  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Cooled Miner C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: November 15, 2014, 04:33:13 PM
Hello,

I have 4 x C1 and all are without cooling kit. I only started one of them but temprature of hashing boards goes over 80C and then they turns off. I have 2 x s4 too and they are fine in my room. Window is open and there is cool wind in the room.

Why it's temprature goes very high? because on site it says they should be on 40C in 25C room temprature and my room temptarure is 10C.

Then does it mean that I can not use them without cooling kit?
What if I open their cases and then run them?  Huh Undecided

What is full cooling system price?

I'm pretty sure they need a cooling system.  Otherwise they will overheat.

I think the first second post here has links to cooling systems.

M

Yes you need it.  Look at syscooling is one they have used.   Personally I would like to see someone put together a kit of one not from them.

Is their cooling system OK and does it work fine? Is it good idea to purchase it?
Is that green liquid included?
What is the price of all? $50 or $80? why they say $50 + $30 ?

Is their cooling system OK and does it work fine? Is it good idea to purchase it? Depends some have had good luck.  I personally had one quit on pump, and one the wire harness burnt 2 board fan controller.  So needless to say they are not my favorite
Is that green liquid included? No you have to buy coolant separate
What is the price of all? $50 or $80? why they say $50 + $30 ?  Depends on shipping to you.  Shipping is very high there.  Goes down the more you buy but still high.
13024  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: November 15, 2014, 03:44:04 PM
what do you guys think about this ?

I think 2 things;
1. This is a BITCOIN mining rig thread not Litecoin!
2. I think that's someone else, not you!

Why are you digging up posts from over a year ago to criticise?

Good question.  But I think its safe to say someone with yahoo toolbar was not the user at top.

13026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is a blockchain.info wallet in Tor browser secure? on: November 15, 2014, 03:00:54 PM
As long as tor uses exit nodes there is a chance off bad things.  (It HAS to use exit nodes so you are always at risk).

You can use it and it will be rolling the dice on if you get compromised.
13027  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should i start mining bitcoins? on: November 15, 2014, 02:56:55 PM
Do ROI math.  You need cheap electricity.  It also depends what your mining Scrypt, SHA , etc.

I personally think it is possible, but it is harder then it once was.   And your electricity and heat of location directly effect ROI.
13028  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5 Speculation on: November 15, 2014, 02:42:34 PM

Has anyone heard of the magazine it was in before this?

I just got to thinking that would be one heck of a way to get a lot of views, make up a ad.
13029  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is a blockchain.info wallet in Tor browser secure? on: November 14, 2014, 10:59:31 PM
Suppose I create an online wallet with https://blockchain.info/ in Tor browser and keep a small stash of BTC in there. It's an anonymous stash, right? So long as I only access via Tor browser, use change addresses and send BTC wisely.

But I've recently read about people running Tor exit nodes and maliciously sniffing the data through them, so I was wondering if this is a safe way of having an online wallet without anyone gaining access to my password/BTC.

Any thoughts?

Tor data is encrypted. So I'm not sure how sniffing can expose you to vulnerability.

On the other hand, blockchain.info wallet scripting is client side. So, I think, even if u use Static IP, still you are secure...

There have been multiple exploits at exit node.  On exit node it actually pulls up site so it is visible when there is a operational exploit.

The nodes in the middle you are correct they dont see end traffic.
13030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is a blockchain.info wallet in Tor browser secure? on: November 14, 2014, 10:57:54 PM
Every once in a while there will be a exploit at exit nodes.

I would not trust it myself for anything important.
13031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi I'm new!! on: November 14, 2014, 08:31:20 PM
Welcome never invest more then you can lose.  On your investing use 2 factor on exchange!  And pick a trustworthy one.

Also on main wallet treat it's private key like gold.
13032  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5 Speculation on: November 14, 2014, 08:27:22 PM
Is there any way we can have 200 USD per 1TH some day?

Ofcourse.... will it be tomorrow no.  Chances are it will be a much larger TH machine (hard to guess future) and with the more TH they do lower price per TH.  I don't think were very close to the 200 goal you want.
13033  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANN] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: November 14, 2014, 05:54:06 PM
Has anyone not low activity received miner here?  Interesting miners, I like some of them.  But scared off by low activity on all that have said they received it.

*just saw why i liked some specs so well they say pre-order.
13034  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will the difficulty of mining keep on going up forever? on: November 14, 2014, 05:38:19 PM
From what I hear its how long it takes for blocks to be solved. So if it takes too long the difficulty will actually go down.

It all depends on what rigs we have and how powerful they become

and of course on price of Bitcoin..

To me and smart miners yes.  But there are some that still run obsolete equipment.   I won't mention company but one is trying to sell their old miners advertised as using for heating your house.   I think it makes more sense to use one that is not obsolete for heat if you do it.  But that is just me.

All that 30 MHz Scrypt that use 1000 watt stuff for example will make maybe 40 cents a day at 10 KWh.   If there is any heat extraction chances are  you lose money on those.
13035  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: PSU for Antminer C1 on: November 14, 2014, 05:26:42 PM
That's a top quality PSU. Have you used it with anything else?

To get 8 PCI-e in one PSU it is normally higher quality companies.  (There are a few exceptions).   But for most part I think people have used nice PSU's.  Personally I gold on most everything.

A lot of people trying to lower cost keep asking about using 2 lower PSU's.  You could buy 2 500 watt with 4 PCIe much cheaper.  But I won't risk using two myself.
13036  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining (NSFW) on: November 14, 2014, 05:19:23 PM
Well one should be 'working' at work to begin with, not watching youtube vids. Wink

Thats why one company I was with could run a report of who was watching youtube, and how much bandwidth to it.  And that was if your had a proper reason and jumped through some hoops.  Some companies could care less, others keep a close eye.   And with some of the software out there for employers it is VERY easy to track employees internet usage.
13037  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP NEEDED on: November 14, 2014, 05:05:06 PM
I assume notlist3d helped you out. If not, let us know and I could help

I still have not heard back.  So i'm hoping OP got it in his own.  No PM or posts, so not sure.
13038  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S5 Speculation on: November 14, 2014, 05:03:35 PM
So where is the S5 information, it was supposed to ship tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to seeing it on bitmaintech.com as well.  I keep checking their website at least once an hour.  They may have delays for some reason or another.  Maybe doing more extensive testing to avoid another Batch 1 fiasco like the S4 had.  However, all may be well and they just want to wait till tomorrow for whatever reason.  It could be that magazine just wanted to create a stir and try to get hits on their website.  Who knows?

I know how you feel.  I keep checking, I wish there was a official announcement.
