13161  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-11-06] Posing as Elon Musk, hacker nets about $180,000 worth of bitcoin on: November 07, 2018, 10:35:31 AM

How can people believe in this kind of scheme? if someone did that kind of scheme then that person would be running a ponzi scheme, and I doubt any celebrity or anyone famous would do such a thing. Then I ask the same question again: why the hell do people fall into scams like these? The only answer that comes in my head is: greed

It's not just about greed, but about ignorance combined with poor English knowledge with the addition of something very important - some people blindly following some celebrities on social networks and they will do whatever what is required. Ponzi is an unknown term for them, therefore they can not even defend themselves from any kind of fraud.

These types of fraud are very easily feasible, you only need FB/Twitter account with name as much as possible similar to the original and coin address - then you just throw the bait in digital sea and catch digital fish. As long as there are possibilities, there will be the fraudsters who will exploit them.
13162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XRB]Cryptocurrency's killer app: RaiBlocks micropayments on: November 07, 2018, 10:15:54 AM

I downloaded the developer nano wallet and imported my seed but my mrai doesn't show on my wallet for almost 10 hours.
What should I do now?

Let me know if there is a full node or blocks to download without syncing my wallet?

There is a faster way to download full Nano blockchain, but it seems it is only for Windows 64 bit OS. I try it before and and it worked quite well, download time depends only on the speed of your internet. Here is link : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sP1z9S011f1W_0nK1KJ-UCJbjaNmk8GQ

I think I will skip to download full chain again, and will try with some light wallet, but just to send my Nano to Ledger finally. I guess Nanovault and Canoe in desktop version support importing of seed, any significant difference between them?
13163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: NEED HELP! got scammed, can i get IP adress somehow? on: November 06, 2018, 02:10:41 PM

However, if you could seduce him into sending you an email, then you would have his IP address which you could hand over to the law enforcement agency.
Another option to get the IP address would be to setup a webserver (which logs everything) and send him a link. If he clicks on it, you'll have his IP address.

Those are the 2 easiest methods to get his IP address. If those aren't an option, you are mostly out of luck.

But if that scamer is using VPN/Tor or any other way to hide his IP address then this is also dead end.

but for example, if the receiver gave me his online wallet adress and just thinking, that nobody will try to search for him, then i think i still have some chance to find it out..? Police already know and strated investigation.

still hoping he not so competent, and asking for your help. If he is just a bitcoin beginner, and there is still chance to catch this shit, where should i start? If i will not do anything, so it means i lost money 100%, but hoping he left some footprints somewhere... who can help me? Smiley thank you very much

Actually, in this case, it would be best to try play on the greed card option - in a way to send scamer new message from other FB profile and if he/she bite the hook then try to get some more info about them.

Story that you have problem with your wallet and need some help to recover few BTC could allure a thief from his hole...
13164  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-11-05] Indian Teenager Threatens to Blow Up Miami Airport over Alleged Bit on: November 06, 2018, 11:20:12 AM
Amazing things come to mind of today's teenagers, this is just another example as today's society shapes young people minds. First he take 1000$ from his father and make as he claim massive profit from that, but then because of the well known human greed in combination with the obvious ignorance he lost all the money. Idea that FBI solves his situation is really unrealistic, he is not USA citizen - and to acting terrorists is the stupidest thing he could do.

Not only he did lose money, now he is on India&USA black list as a potential threat - which means that there is no travel outside the country and his picture is probably on every USA airport and most of the world airports too.
13165  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Cash Fork? on: November 05, 2018, 11:30:53 AM
What you should do is very simple, there is no need to complicate things. You send BTC from Electrum to Ledger Nano S and this is most important thing for you. That seed from Electrum is now all you need to claim BCH, and for that you can use Electron Cash wallet on the same device where you have Electrum. So just follow these steps :

- Download Electron Cash from this link : https://electroncash.org/
- Start installation - Standard wallet - I have seed - Insert seed from Electrum.
- Now you have BCH, and you can keep them in this wallet or send to Ledger Nano S.

In case you decide to send BCH to Ledger, keep in mind that any future fork of BCH will be connected with Ledger BCH address. That means you would need private key for that address in order to claim forked coin - or to wait Ledger add support for that coin in a way to allow split from BCH to some new BCH2.
13166  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best cryptocurrency to invest in 2018 on: November 04, 2018, 03:02:21 PM
Don't you guys think that binance coin is too much risky?

It's one exchange, with less than 2 years old.
100% centralized, as it is all based on the exchange.

This coin may disappear as fast as it appeared. I would definitely not rank it along side with cardano, ethereum, monero....

For people who use Binance to trade, BNB is good choice - for two reasons. First is reducing the trading fees ( 25% discount ) and second is referral commission which is 40% if user hold a certain amount of BNB coins ( 500 BNB or more ).

Since Binance is one of the most famous crypto exchange and they are constantly evolving and expanding into new markets, their coin is for now looks like a very good investment. Of course that in the event of any larger problems for Binance their coin will go down, but in fact there is not even one crypto coin with 100% guaranteed success - and that goes for BTC also.
13167  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-29] Bitcoin trading uses so much power that it could push global temper on: November 04, 2018, 02:44:12 PM
I'm not surprised with such stupid study, especially if we see where it comes from - University of Hawaii - probably the researchers spent too much time in the sun or have some serious problems with the brain. Even title is idiotic, they use term "trading" and probably think on mining power, so for them this is same process...

The fact is that total consumption of electricity consumed for crypto mining is less then 1% of the total annual consumption of electricity. With so little electricity consumption on a global scale claim that BTC trading (not mining) will cause a temperature rise of two degrees it's really stupid.
13168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction of Bitcoin Prices 2018-2022 on: November 04, 2018, 11:31:29 AM
This site is actually a joke with such predictions, and I remember some of old predictions from this site who had been a complete failure. To rely on this kind of predictions really makes no sense and I think that most will agree with that. According to them, the biggest price in the next four years will be 33 000 $ in 2022, and with regard to how much is BTC advanced in its first ten years this is a very unrealistic price.

Of course, it should be mentioned that such predications do not take into account any good or bad events that may occur in the forthcoming period. If they were to be trusted then it would be best to sell our coins now since in next year they predict drop close to 3000$.
13169  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 473 Days Building a Helpful Free Crypto Site Directory - Need Help on: November 03, 2018, 11:18:46 AM
Hey,

I am trying to build something good for crypto community, because I am a trader and crypto enthusiast.

In my free time for about year and half I am building a site with a lot of links that I have collected during the years of my crypto involvement in trading.

I want for site to stay completely free whit no ads and without any aff links, to help crypto community to grow and learn faster.

Now I am on the edge and don't know if I did include everything can you guys give me a bit of help if I forgot to include anything or should I throw out something because it is too much...?

Please give me any suggestions that can help me and whole community with this site http://cryptolinks.com/

Thank you very much

Nate

A great collection of crypto related links in one place, great for beginners, but also for those more experienced. I notice that you have links to cryptocurrency mining, we all know how this is work and that most of these sites are just scam projects. I also notice you not have any section for faucets, even some may say they are waste of time, but nothing more than cloud or browser mining sites, so I suggest one category for faucet lists.

Regarding making some income for your site, it is good decision to not use crypto ad networks since most of ads are advertise scam sites/projects, but I do not see why not use your ref links for exchanges or hardware wallets, or any other legit site. With such income you can improve your site and keep it ad free.
13170  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Currently Best Means of Offline Storage? on: November 03, 2018, 10:47:52 AM
What wallet should i use as a begginer of bitcoin? which is the best for computer and for phone?

This thread is about long-term storage, and since you are just beginner you need something simple and for everyday use. I certainly recommend you to try Electrum for desktop and for smartphone, but be sure that your devices are clean from virus/malware threats, and that you download from official site.

Before installations I recommend you to read : https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ and then use this link to download Electrum for your OS : https://electrum.org/#download
13171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett starts investing in start-ups on: November 02, 2018, 02:51:05 PM
I really can not find a connection between Buffett investing in StoneCo (Brazilian payments platform) and Paytm (Indian mobile payment platform) with any sign that he would invest in cryptocurrency. He has several times publicly expressed his opinion regarding BTC and I think this story should end back in 2014 when he say : "Stay away from it. It's a mirage, basically,"

We can all see how smart he was then when price was from 300$ to 700$, today is above 6000$ and it was 20 000 at the end of last year. How much profit a person is lost just because was listening WB? Let's take an example of a small investor who invest 3000$ and bought 10 BTC at the end of 2014, three years later the value of the investment was 200 000 $ - is that a mirage?
13172  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [01/11/2018] Bitcoin Bear Market Could Last 18 More Months: BitMEX CEO on: November 02, 2018, 02:26:13 PM
Arthur should refrain from commenting on these sort of things, because he's making himself look like an idiot. First he said that the price would reach $50,000 before the end of the year, and now we're at a point he thinks the bear market could last 18 more months.  Roll Eyes

He doesn't give a damn about what direction we're heading into, he just want people to lose their mind on greed and fear, because volatility is the money maker for him.

We only need one spark to get the market to pump, and it can happen at any time. Just make sure you buy in and patiently wait. What else is there do to?

People like him can not refrain from such speculations, even though they make very bad prediction they do not give up  - so he is maybe idiot, but as we all know a very rich idiot. In times like this many so-called experts try to predict future of BTC, but it's just a game of them and the media - they get publicity and media make some money.

How many times Hayes will change his opinion in next 18 months?
13173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin so stable in price after a big drop? on: November 01, 2018, 01:51:24 PM
With great certainty we can say that this is not just a coincidence, and that someone or something stands behind all these events. In other words, it is obviously manipulation with the sole purpose of greater coin accumulation, which will of course be sold at the moment of the new ATH.

BTC is almost always follow same path : accumulation/pump/correction and I think based on all what is presented that we are now in accumulation period. Price is fairly stable in last few months, but we've seen a few attempts which resulted with fall under 6000 $ for short time. In my opinion reason why price is so stabile is that most of weak hands emptied their bags, and real hodlers do not want to sell at this price.

For some BTC is only money factory, with one important difference - first want to make money on a daily / weekly basis, some others invest and wait for years. It is very likely that the paths of these two sides meet from time to time, perhaps in that moment comes to sudden falls or jumps in price.

13174  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 60% of US Voters Want Cryptocurrency Political Donations to Be Legal on: November 01, 2018, 01:13:43 PM
Pretty bad idea. There's already a lot of dirty money in politics, and allowing cryptos would only make things worse. If the people want clean politicians, there shouldn't be a single anonymous donation to any political organization.

I agree that financing of politicians and their parties should be completely transparent, but we all know that in most countries this is not the case. Maybe financing with BTC would not be as bad as it seems, because it is not entirely anonymous transactions. Solution would be that everyone can donate in cryptocurrency, but that transaction need to be publicly displayed with the name of the donor.

Some anonymous coins certainly should be excluded from donations, but if we want BTC to become serious currency at world level, then we should find a way for politicians to use it in the form of donations.
13175  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-30]What will Bitcoin be Worth in 5-10 Years Time on: November 01, 2018, 11:27:05 AM

I found these parts:

" A popular digital currency maniac and venture capital billionaire "

" the crypto will cost almost a quarter of a million dollars by the year 2022 "

very interesting.

1 - he is a billionaire
2 - he bought bitcoin

by that I mean that he is advocating this prediction to encourage people to buy bitcoin so that he can have more profit in the future. Of course, his prediction is very exaggerated and impossible to achieve.

even Draper prediction is for 2022 which is 4 years from now.

his prediction is impossible to achieve.

Some other people also share your thoughts when it comes to Tim Draper, but he is become very well known because of his accurate prediction back in 2014 that 1 BTC will reach the price of 10 000$ in next 3 years which of course happened. As far as we know he did not sell any coins after price go up to 20 000$, and as he said, he does not intend to sell.

You should know that it is not smart to put it in the same sentence bitcoin and impossible, four years maybe looks short time - but with the real development of events BTC could reach to 250 000$. Just remember last big pump, from 1000$ to 20 000$ in one year.
13176  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-30]What will Bitcoin be Worth in 5-10 Years Time on: October 31, 2018, 10:32:35 AM
Tim Draper is give this prediction in April of this year, how can this be the news now? Calling him a crypto maniac who did not give up of what he said a few months ago is really pretty stupid considering his past predictions or business moves. Unlike some of the "experts" who change their thinking on monthly basis, Draper give only long-term prediction - and he holds on that.

How much will 1 BTC worth in 5-10 years we can only speculate, even Draper prediction is for 2022 which is 4 years from now.
13177  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Lockbox Blockchain Hardware Wallet - Powered by Ledger! on: October 31, 2018, 10:13:17 AM
Anyone here who purchased it for testing?

There is a possibility for pre-orders, but deliveries beginning in mid-November so there is still no possibility of testing - I post that info in first post as quoted text - strange that you missed it...

Regarding only 3 coins which will be supported by this wallet I agree it is too small number considering that Ledger Nano S or Trezor now support hundreds of coins/tokens. But this hardware wallet is primarily made for users of blockchain.com online wallet, most of them only use BTC or ETH.

Now they have opportunity to protect their accounts from hacking/pishing for a certain price of the device. It would be much better move to invest that money in Nano S or Trezor, no doubt about it.
13178  Economy / Speculation / Re: The collective forecast of the price of Bitcoin on January 1, 2019 on: October 31, 2018, 09:54:15 AM
@Lucius - Those predictions seem ridiculous, especially the $150,000 per coin one but you know what, as a bitcoin HODLER obviously I’d LOVE any of those 3 predictions you posted to come true. Even the $15,000 one would be amazing right now Smiley

I fully agree that some of these prediction are not realistic for the beginning of the next year, but I think the majority of them was actually based on possible BTC ETF, and others are just speculating that something big could happen, although they do not know what that would be.

We all know that only one crazy month can push price two to three times up from where is it now, but I doubt that it could happen this year. For me personally 10 000 $ for the beginning of the next year would be quite nice price.
13179  Economy / Speculation / Re: The collective forecast of the price of Bitcoin on January 1, 2019 on: October 30, 2018, 01:41:02 PM
The last year, the cryptocurrency markets have undergone significant adjustments and many experts predictions of the fall of 2017 were beyond fiction. This year, experts are much more cautious and pessimistic in our forecasts. The price of Bitcoin is tied to stocks, the dollar and other various factors. But it seems to me that there is no more interesting and fair forecast than a survey of people who are part of this market. And where, if not on Bitcoinflc, can you find such a number of crypto enthusiasts and experts of the cryptocurrency market?

What else to expect after such big correction we have after last pump? That so-called experts are right with caution, they do not want to give some kind of wild speculations so that people can laugh at them after few months - especially if they do not have a basis for them.

But if you like to read some prediction for January 2019 by some experts here are some of them :

Quote
Alexander V. van Dijl, Financial expert:

At the beginning of this year I predicted a bitcoin value of 150.000. While that seems like a lot today, I believe some firm price movements will take place in the (very) near future. Something big will happen, perhaps a large retailer will accept bitcoin, perhaps adult advertising will accept bitcoin as payment. Something big will happen that will cause the price to skyrocket again. 150.000 is my prediction for January 1st.

Quote
Eric Brown, Founder and CEO of Aliant Payment Systems:

My Bitcoin price prediction for 1 January 2019 is $23,000.We were practically at this price once, and we know what it takes to get it back there. We are very much in the infancy of this type of currency, and as technology grows, so does the value of the currency. The future is technology and Bitcoin is the currency of that technology.

Quote
Danny Scott, CEO and Co-Founder at CoinCorner:

Based on our existing data combined with industry trends, we predict the price of Bitcoin will level around $15,000 by 1st January 2019. We take this view as the industry is growing at a healthy rate, with the retail market developing steadily and considerable new interest from high net worth individuals and institutions being recorded.

Stay away from this, it is a scam and you will probably lose your money - just ask yourself is it possible to earn 12 BTC ( over 75 000$ ) by doing nothing? I search for some reviews of this site and it is detected that Pebbles site is hosted on private server, and on same server are some well known scam sites Donor’s Club, AloBit, Fund My Cause.

Quote
Therefore, Pebbles Fund is a calculated scam. It intends to fleece individuals of their hard earned money by using donations as a disguise. There is no legitimate business activity going on in this website. Even from the way it looks, you won’t be confident enough that your money will bring any returns.
