Apparently to get all 19 cards working you need to add at least six P106 mining cards if running Linux. Otherwise you are limited to running 8+5 mixed AMD/Nvidia cards on Windows, or 13 of the same type of card on Linux.

BBT is also trying to work out the card limitations on this board.

What drivers and version of the Claymore dual miner are you using?
1323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to quiet down L3+ - changing fans? on: October 06, 2017, 07:20:01 PM
I managed to quite down the noise by more than 60 percent by putting it inside a simple $8 dollar home depot storage box and putting insulation wrap inside of it.  That's all it really needs to dampen the sound.

I've tested a 6" sound mufflers and it's a waste of money,  b/c 6" vent ducts will quiet it down the same amount almost,

I've also tested using a 6" can fan to help exhaust and had some interesting results.  It did manage to cool down the asics by 1-2 degrees and lower the asic fan speed down from 3900 rpm to 3725 rpm under 80 degree weather.  Doesn't sound like much but that's b/c I already have a 10" can fan exhausting out of the room so having a duct pusher fan is not needed if you already got a good exhaust vent setup.

I don't have Antminers, but this sounds like the most effective solution. I would build a custom box out of plywood to put the Antminers in and use a small squirrel cage vent fan to keep air flowing through the box. Sort of like a smaller version of what this guy did for his GPU miners.

Ripple is a private token. It's not mined, it's issued just like fiat.
1325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Easy list to buy the correct Riser and Gpu power adapter molex, sata, pciexpress on: October 06, 2017, 04:48:54 PM
I'm not 100% sure, but i read somewhere in this forum that the riser does not consume more that 22 watts. So thats ok for sata powered raisers.
And recently i saw that there are new risers ver008c that consume lower energy than that - 5 watts.  And i actually ordered 10 of these to try them.

Most of the power your card need comes from the mine PCI Express cable that goes into your video card.

I have molex risers and also 6 pin raisers that i use with 6 pin to sata adapter. Never had any problems with them.

That is wrong. Powered risers use between 40W - 50 W each. This is easy to verify in a dual PSU setup like I have where all the risers are connected to the same PSU as the motherboard and the secondary PSU only powers the tops of the cards.
1326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 GPU Board on: October 06, 2017, 03:48:31 PM
By buying this motherboard, I have a question:
Using 4 risers already powered I also have to use the two extra power connectors on the board (PCIE_PWR1 and PCI_PWR2) ?

If using all powered risers, there is no need to use the extra molex power connectors on the board. You do need to disable the power check in the Bios or it will give you an error message at Post.
1327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Maintenance for Mining GPUs on: October 06, 2017, 03:29:52 PM
A small air compressor around the rig works for me. Lots of air pressure to effectively blow off dust. Just be careful never to point it too close or directly at the risers. The air pressure will blow them off or can even rip them off the cards. Every 1-2 months should be plenty.
1328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Easy list to buy the correct Riser and Gpu power adapter molex, sata, pciexpress on: October 06, 2017, 01:54:16 PM
I have used the 2x Molex to 8/6 pin PCI-E and they work fine. I also use the 2x Sata to 6-pin PCI-E adapters to power risers. The problem with the Molex adapters is the quality is at best mediocre when new and they fall apart quickly after multiple uses. It's also important to never use more than two connectors per PSU strand MAX to avoid overloading the cable.

My advice would be to avoid using adapters in the first place by using a PSU with enough PCI-E connectors, or using a multiple PSU setup so that you have all the connections you need. I use 6-pin risers only, so if you have enough PCI-E connectors from your PSU, there is no need to use adapters. I do use and recommend PCI-E 8-pin to dual 6+2 pin splitter cables to power two risers from a single PCI-E cable, so you have enough connectors to power the top of the GPU's. I have also used the same spliiter cables to power the card and riser on some of my lower powered GPU's and to power cards that have an 8-pin and 6-pin VGA power input.

1329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 480 Setup for highest Hashrate on: October 06, 2017, 01:13:09 PM
To mine ETH or ETC you need to use the AMD blockchain drivers. Those are the only drivers that fix the epoch Dag hash rate drop. You also need to use Afterburner 4.4.0 beta 16 or higher with the blockchain drivers or the AMD Relive drivers 17.7.2 or higher, since AMD changed the API starting with that driver. You may also need to use the pixel patcher to bypass the driver signature check with a modded Bios. Otherwise the cards will show a code 43 in the Windows Device Manager and they won't work.

The cards are still under warranty. I would contact Asus. If you don't want to wait for an RMA, they may be able to ship you replacement fans.

If you plan on mining ETH or ETC, you need to use the AMD blockchain drivers that fix the epoch Dag hash drop. For any other coins you can use the latest or any AMD Relive driver.
Is it true it doesn't work for windows 8.1?

Yes, some users reported it doesen't work with Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. There is an unofficial release that seems to work with Windows 7.

I don't have any Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 4GB cards, but I know my Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB SE cards with a Samsung/Hynix dual memory Bios don't like a core clock over 1150 MHz. If I increase the core clock by more than that, the hash drops. I use the Polaris Bios Editor v1.6 from jaschaknack, 'one click timing patch' Bios mod with a 1150 MHz core clock, 2100-2200 MHz memory overclock, -15% power limit and -96mV undevolt and get 30+ MH/s ETH + 850 MH/s DCR dual mining with a -dcri 28 setting. You also need to use Afterburner v4.40 beta 16 or higher to be able to set the power limit and undervolt with the blockchain drivers.

Also set your virtual memory on Windows to at least 16GB if you're using multiple GPU's.

1334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: LTC Solo or Pool ? on: October 02, 2017, 12:20:34 PM
Hi, i'm wondering which mining method is more profitable for LTC difficulty today ?
i have read something about 14 days for solo to find a block is that for first block only or for every block ?
i'm at 3000 MH/s so which's better for that hashrate speed solo or pool ?

It's average 14 days solo for every block.
I will recommend you to go with pool mining as it'll provide consistent payments every day.

Let me explain a bit about solo mining.
When you're solo mining, the collective hashing power of your rigs is working to find a block in litecoin network competing with all other miners.
It can be a day if you're extremely lucky, probably 14 days if everything runs smoothly or probably more than that.
You never know because it all depends on luck for finding a block.
That's why average fourteen days.

If for any chance your rigs malfunctions and you need to restart them, or internet doesn't work for an hour or any downtime reason.
All the hash done will be of no use!

That's why it's better to stick with pool mining, receive consistent rewards.

Now, if you want to do solo mining, in any scenario, you should have enough hashrate to find a block in an average a day.

When solo mining, the previous work done is irrelevant on the probability of finding the next block. Everyone has the same proportional chance of solving the next block dependent on their hash power. If you solve the block before anyone else, you get the full block reward plus transaction fees, or if someone else solves it you get nothing. That's the advantage of mining on a pool, where you get credit for the work you did on the block whether you or someone else on the pool solves it. Solo mining is also highly dependent on your latency to the peers you're connected to. The lower the latency of your connection, the less chance you will submit an orphan block.
1335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Results (ZCash) don't fulfill expectations (sol/s) on: October 02, 2017, 01:54:55 AM
The Dwarfpool ZEC pool doesn't have enough hash power to have reliable earnings for only 24 hours mining. Especially with the increase in difficulty after the pump last week. They will often go more than 24 hours before even finding a block, or sometimes find several blocks in a few hours. That's just how mining works. In the long run it evens out, but that's not a pool to mine ZEC on for consistent earnings in a short period. For that you need to mine on one of the larger pools like Flypool.
1336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 rig with 10 cards VS. 2 rigs with 5 cards on: October 01, 2017, 03:10:02 PM
Larger rigs are harder to setup, mainly because of PCI-E compatibility. Once configured properly, there is nothing inherently unstable about a larger rig compared to a smaller one. Larger rigs remove unnecessary redundancy and are more effcient to run and cool compared to multiple small ones. Larger rigs are also GREAT for solo mining.
1337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire nitro 570 8gb questions on: October 01, 2017, 07:24:18 AM
Use the Polaris Bios Editor v1.62 'one click timing patch'. It works great with all my Sapphire Cards. That with -96 mV undervolt, power limit -15%, 1150 MHz core, 2000 MHz memory should get you to ~29.5 MH/s and 750 MH/s DCR dual mining.

1338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: power plug and power comsumption issue on: October 01, 2017, 07:16:55 AM
Most household power strips are rated for 1500 W at 120V maximum and are not rated for a continuous draw at that amount of power. If you use power strips, you should keep them at as fewer than 1000 W as possible. It's better to plug PSU's directly in to a wall outlet. Most household 120V 15A wall sockets will also get very warm when pulling over 1000W continously. Replacing the wall sockets with 20A sockets keeps them from heating up.

There are also 20A power strips, but they are expensive compared to the more common 15A household power strips.

1339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: No longer profitable - ETH mining? on: September 30, 2017, 05:54:39 PM
If you have mining rigs already and you got back your invested money , or pretty close to your ROI , it is still profitable to mine ETH.
If you thinking to build rigs or buy mining rigs right now ,as for a long term investment, its still can be profitable , but the ROI can be way over a year now.
After October 17th , we should see our mining rewards improve a little bit

I agree with your first line but not the other two.

One any ROI prediction a year out is impossible to figure accurately. By then the network hash rate will probably be double or tripled again making ROI projections even harder. This whole logic train also involves a belief that ETH's value will continue to increase offsetting the ever increasing network hash rate. Might just as well invest directly in the coin if you are relying on its value to keep increasing in order to justify your investment into mining gear.

Even with October 17th change, since it will effect everyone proportionally there will really be no change in profitability. So while mining rewards will increase roughly 23% (according to the above link) since everyone gets a 23% increase simultaneously, the net effect is 0 increase in profits. The only way that would be beneficial for an individual is for just you or a small group to gain a 23% advantage and everyone else to stay the same as they are now.

Absolutely agree with that you said about ROI prediction " One any ROI prediction a year out is impossible to figure accurately."
Every prediction in the future of crypto word actually is impossible to figure accurately !
But.. i think active miners will see some minimal mining reward gain after October 17 , its probably not going to be 23% , but definitely we should see some gain . We will see soon Smiley

The block times WILL go to 15 seconds after the Byzantium fork. The block reward WILL also be reduced to ~3 ETH at the same time to keep inflation roughly the same as it was at the beginning of September. The 23% increase in mining rewards is basic math as calculated in the Reddit post. The other part of the fork WILL remove the difficulty bomb, returning to the difficulty predicated on the network hash rate. Assuming the price stays at $300, the 15 sec. block time reduction WILL increase the profitability of mining ETH from where it is now after the fork. If the mining reward is only reduced to 3 ETH, it would increase profitability by more than 23% because of the difficulty reduction as well.
