1321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Never transact on this kind of message on: March 09, 2023, 06:21:50 AM
Hackers don't just hijack your computer like that, you are the one that did something stupid, either by clicking on links sent through email or websites.

I do a lot of browsing almost all day, and this is why I believe that I am still not completely safe from scammers and hackers, not even with anti-malware software and antivirus installed on my PC.

This is why I don't store my assets on my PC, I don't have any wallet installed on my PC, and even my files are stored offline.  With a PC, you can never be sure of what could happen at any time,  it doesn't matter how careful you are.
1322  Economy / Economics / Re: Ripple CEO Says Crypto Industry Has to Rebuild Trust on: March 09, 2023, 05:56:09 AM
With true decentralization, there is no need to build any trust, 100% decentralization is an auto trust builder,  this is what makes Bitcoin the better digital currency.

There is never going to be strong trust between crypto adopters and centralised projects, this is the problem that keep dragging crypto through the dirt.

The major problem with crypto is from centralised projects and exchanges, I don't know why people haven't learnt their lesson, by now,  the trading volume on centralized exchanges should be 90% down and move to decentralized perp platforms.  I am still surprised that this is not the case.
1323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as means of exchange in happy day supermarket on: March 08, 2023, 01:25:03 PM
I would like to know what will happen to you when Bitcoin price decrease for 50% because your owner will think he's not making money by accepting Bitcoin, but actually he's lose and it just wasting his time to add Bitcoin payment.

You might get promoted and have a good relationship with your owner if accepting Bitcoin payment do increase selling rate of the product. You can give an update whenever your owner angry with you or he's happy with your idea.
If one must accept Bitcoin as a means of payment in their stores they must be the rightful owner of the business, if not, there will be problem when Bitcoin declines in value.

Whenever I accept Bitcoin payment I do not hold all the Bitcoin, I respect the volatility and swap the major part to get goods back in store for other customers,  I only hold some part of the Bitcoin for long term holding.

I believe the best solution is to be the rightful owner and also understand that Bitcoin is not a stable digital currency,  be prepared for any decline in price after accepting payment in Bitcoin.
1324  Economy / Economics / Re: The Biggest Financial Regrets on: March 08, 2023, 12:32:59 PM
Probably many of us are just drinking and smoking during our high school days.  I wish we didn't sell our fishing boat, I would have continued the business.

One of the biggest regrets that rich old people told me is that they didn't produce many kids when they were younger.  I think I already understood what they mean by it. Because you want the things you have to give to them  If you have big properties, gold, and BTC, you would want your kids to have them after you die but having none or just one is just not very productive.
Sometimes, there is nothing you can do about this, those who had kids at a very young age happened by mistake.

Some called this unwanted pregnancy, they won't understand how good this mistake is, until the child grows up.

No matter how good your plan is, let's not forget that, life has its own ways with us.

In today's world people in my country don't want to have any kid at a young age unless they are rich or have a high  paying source of income, things are getting harder every year and I don't blame them.

I have also seen someone with over 7 children and who wasted all their father's property on drugs and gambling

This life can never be balanced, what appeared as white to someone can look black to others.
1325  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many Bitcoin confirmations is enough? on: March 08, 2023, 10:17:33 AM
Good one, I always release my customers once I see 1 confirmation in my wallet whenever they pay me in Bitcoin at my business sanctuary.

The requirement for more than 1 confirmation only happens on centralised exchanges,  oh and few gambling platforms too.

Few VPN services also requires for more than 1 confirmation when paying with Bitcoin. Believing that you have received your Bitcoin when the transaction still shows Zero confirmation is where the real threat lies, always make sure that you get at least 1 confirmation before moving on.
1326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 07, 2023, 04:55:13 PM
My dad is 79 yo. He's a retired carpenter but has always been interested in technology, electronics and related stuff. Back in the 90s, when I was just kid, he bought me a computer because he knew that's where the world was headed and we learned to use it together. During the years, I developed my passion in computing and programming and I always taught him to use all the tools needed to be a good user (he even uses things like password managers and multi-factor authentication tools).

Fast forward to early 2020, just before the pandemic, I started to buy BTC and I had always told my dad about this new "digital gold". He was skeptical (he's lived most of his life with FIAT and cash after all) but curious. He thought it was too risky though.

Not sure why, but last week he finally told me he wanted to try it. So we setup his software wallet and he bought 0.01 BTC. Not sure if he'll buy more, but I can certainly say I'm proud of him!

Did you manage to convince your dads or other older people in your family to buy BTC?

He thought Bitcoin investment was too risky and you said 'not sure why' really? He is over 70+ for crying out loud, all his life he have never seen anything going head to head with FIAT currency and this is the first, so you except him not to doubt? Bitcoin is still risky because it is volatile, a perfect reason not to try forcing anyone to invest in Bitcoin.

I have never tried to confuse anybody to invest in Bitcoin and I don't picture myself ever doing that, you must give them the reasons why Bitcoin is worth giving a shot, step back and let them do some research and if they like the idea behind Bitcoin that's where you can come in.

I am glad he supports you anyway, my respect for any older person that are still open to trying out new things, not many older people like doing such.
1327  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners - Keep your rooms clean, keep your backups ready to use & bring away on: March 07, 2023, 01:29:12 PM
It is dumb to write something as valuable as recovery seed on a piece of paper, of cos something bad will happen to it very fast, you can on your fan and the paper goes missing, someone can come into your room and play with the paper until they ruff handle the paper and throw into the dustbin or somewhere. Write the seed down in a strong book and keep the book where you can lock it up, or stainless steel is even more reliable,  this has been discussed too many times on the forum, find one and use nail or a sharp object to carve the words on the stainless steel.
1328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel selling your BTC against your plans? on: March 07, 2023, 09:15:18 AM
Bitcoin sats are more valuable than USD, it's good you noticed that.

Next time, always plan for an emergency fund, as a Bitcoin investor, it is better to always have some funds for emergency reasons, do not invest all you have because when the needy comes you will have no choice than to go back into your portfolio and start selling some portion of your satoshis, and trust me, this will cost you,  because value doesn't always stays the same.

Here is my way, could be useful for you.

If you make 100$, always keep 50$ apart for survival reasons, maybe keep in your bank account.

Do not be brainwashed with the idea of going all in on Bitcoin, you aren't ready for this, in your case.

Try to make money from other sources, this will make your investment plan more easier.
1329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you know any telegram group where a lot of gamblers meet? on: March 07, 2023, 07:24:00 AM
The only gambling groups on telegram are those that are ready to take advantage of each other, it is a bad idea to look for one, you will start getting PMs from strangers and many malicious links will be sent to you,  if you want a gamblers group that badly I guess you can start with WhatsApp group and start adding people up, make sure some rules and regulations are in place, trust me, Telegram is a bad idea for this.
1330  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Could a small miner actually randomly solve a Bitcoin block on: March 06, 2023, 03:40:51 PM
Yes it could be possible to solved a block but it takes time and like the above said you very low chance to get valid blocks to mine due to difficulty.

They mostly called it the lottery if you run a single USB stick to mine solo.
Not all people are lucky but some people that I heard they mined a block with 25btc or 12.5btc reward before.
Are you sure that this is in the case of running a single USB? The hashrate of those USB miners are very small, if anyone would like to try their luck with solo mining today they should use an ASIC miner with 20+terahash and it should always be on, this is pure gambling and it could take years to solve a single block but nothing is impossible.
1331  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Writing down the words under same roof as my siblings on: March 06, 2023, 02:19:21 PM
Offline is the safest approach to keep your keys safe, I recommended carving all the phrases on a stainless steel that you can find, it doesn't have to be a round shape steel like a plate, it can be that of a box shape, carve the phrases on it and find a safe location to hide the stainless steel,  this is way safer than trying to cram some words off-head, what happens if you lose your memory or some kind of an accident happened.
1332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your Life After 10 years in Bitcoin... on: March 06, 2023, 09:32:45 AM
I have never felt complete in my life before until I found Bitcoin 7 years ago and thanks to my deceased father I was able to keep my focus alive on crypto and learn more about Bitcoin, I started investing in Bitcoin in 2017 and so far it has been a thrilling journey, there were losses and there were big gains as well.

I was able to bring many friends along and a few of my family too, that's after they grew confident,  now I am even accepting Bitcoin as means of payment. A few of my friends have started accepting Bitcoin payments at their stores too.

Bitcoin is the best thing that has ever happened in my life.
1333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Consistency But don't give up. on: March 06, 2023, 07:31:12 AM
It is easier said than done.

Do you know what consistency really is? It's like fighting your inner demons every day, where is consistency when you are not self-disciplined? It's like a car without its engine.

I see that your main point is about creating posts and topics on the forum, remember,  you are not doing this to get recognized,  we can't even see each others faces on here, so, do not force it, create posts only when you really feel like making some valid contributions.

1334  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Before you buy your first bitcoin take note on: March 04, 2023, 06:14:08 PM
The set of people that don't want to read anything about bitcoin are those that use other people for the investment hassle instead.

They are the type that will beg you to help them buy Bitcoin instead of doing it themselves, trust me, no one buy Bitcoin without knowing what it actually is, at least, some part must be understood.

Buying Bitcoin is taking responsibility, of your hard-earned money.

Not taking responsibility only happens when you want someone else to do it for you, meaning,  you will escape from the hassle of doing research and readings yourself, which still puts you in the dark.
1335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you know which Bitcoin wallets provides complete anonymity & privacy? on: March 03, 2023, 06:16:19 AM
How can these bitcoin wallets provide complete anonymity and privacy when they are meant to always be online? What you need is a hardware wallet with an air-gapped feature, completely offline is the only solution.

Hackers rely on internet connection or USB slot connection to steal your information,  when it comes to air-gapped devices there is no way hackers can take advantage of your wallet,  they are always offline.
1336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in Bitcoin by selling wife's jewelry on: March 02, 2023, 08:32:48 AM
100k per Bitcoin in 2024 is still not certain, the last price was 67k and I believe that 80 to 90k will be easy for Bitcoin, but no one knows for sure if Bitcoin will cross the 100k target or not and you shouldn't have posted the image of the jewelry, you don't know who is reading your post, so do not underestimate this forum, we can't see each other for real but information is sometimes a weapon of mass destruction.
1337  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Thinking of separating my holdings into two physical locations. on: March 02, 2023, 06:42:09 AM

What do you think? I don't think it would make sense, for example to have copies of the seeds of both HW's at both sites because in a $5 wrench attack I could lose everything.

One drawback I see is that if the house burns down I would lose everything I manage with one HW, but well, that risk I also had now, having 100% of the management of my holdings in one site.

It depends on you. I personally have my main cold-storage seeds in encrypted USBs, hidden in different secret locations. One secret location is in my house, another one in my car, another at work, and the last one in my old room in my parents' house. They all look cheap, ordinary USBs, with directories named "My Files" with old useless/random files from work scattered with the encrypted folder nested in another folder with more random files that contains the seeds. The USBs can only be opened in Linux
This is very smart, can you tell me how you setup the USB that it can only be opened in Linux OS? I think this will be very useful for me because many people don't like using Linux OS, for example, in my country you will never see anyone running Linux on their PC, it is always Windows OS.

I don't know if will come across this reply, if you do pls drop a message or PM about how you make this work.
1338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My $300 bet won $417,000 on: March 02, 2023, 06:23:17 AM
You only share your good news, not your gambling strategy, I hope newbies won't get hooked with this type of news and start developing some kind of unrealistic dream, makes sure you know what you are doing and gamble responsibly with the amount you are ready to lose. Avoid getting addicted to gambling by all means.
1339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is Neither Good or Bad on: March 01, 2023, 03:20:49 PM
William Shakespear said,  'there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so. The nature of things is neutral and it is our perception and thinking that gives them a positive or negative meaning. In the same vein I say, there is nothing either good or bad with gambling, but our actions and inactions make it so. People who gamble their entire savings and have the guts and shamelessness to come online and say "Gambling is Bad. Stay away from it" must understand that gambling itself is neither good nor bad, but our actions and behaviors surrounding it determine whether it is beneficial or detrimental.
William Shakespeare must have lost his goddamn mind for saying that there is nothing good or bad, only thinking makes it so.

We have SIN for a reason, the human mind have a conscience for the same reason too, if I am born of a serial killer there is a chance that I have the same killing hunger inside of me, I don't have to think or feel, so killing people to me is just normal as far as I don't think it's bad, this is disgusting of him to say that.
1340  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have any financial regrets ? on: March 01, 2023, 02:09:07 PM
Everyone has their financial regrets, I had a chance to buy good numbers of Ethereum years ago and it costs me around 1000$, I don't know how valuable Ethereum will be in the future so I sold all the coins and instead invest on one shit altcoin, I end up losing all the money, I also bought mining rigs at the wrong timing, so I was unable to make back my money, though, this was because Ethereum is no longer a proof of work project, if not, I would have made all my money back right now.
