1321  Economy / Economics / Re: To cut financial ties with original family benefits you in the long run on: February 15, 2023, 11:36:21 AM
Such dependency is mostly in a system where the government is not performing. The government is to be blamed in the scenario that you have made because if government was taking care of people's need then they would provide jobs or other means that the youths can be independent. I'm going to be thinking that you are referring to African countries and that is one of the reasons I'm yet blaming government. In African countries, no proper data capturing and biometrics are all forged, so you see old men who are suppose to have retired for younger brains to fill up those positions with progressive and innovative acumen but that is not done. This is the major reason for youth high unemployment rate and what choice do they have when they need to get married and take care of homes at a certain age.

While the government has certain roles to play to make the life of its citizens more comfortable and generally increase their standard of living, the government is not to be blamed when a young adult, perhaps starting out on his own constantly relies on his parents to help him with some bailout money. This scenario happens all over the world and not just in some African countries where the government cannot be relied upon.

I know the government should at least provide the environment in which economic growth and development would grow and thrive and that in turn would increase the number of jobs. While the bulk of the problem rests on the government, we should note that there are individuals that, having been born with a silver spoon, haven’t had to work a day in their lives. When starting out on their own, they would be forced to rely on grants from their parents to survive. The government isn’t to blame for that. Right?

There are also real lazy folks out there that hate the idea of working and can’t hold a job for long. Those folks most times also fall back to their family and friends for bailout money.
1322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 14, 2023, 06:29:56 PM
Do you agree that more people will choose to invest in bitcoins if there were not so many cryptocurrency choices although not all are good?

There are thousands of cryptocurrencies available in the market but still bitcoin dominance is 40 to 50 percent. We have to understand the fact that bitcoin is the only fully decentralized cryto currency available in the market. Ethereum shifting from PoW to PoS is clear indication that its controlled by a group of developers who have the ability to manipulate it and same is true for other alts also. No matter how many alts we have, there is no threat to bitcoin dominance.

I think the dominance of bitcoin over other alternative cryptocurrencies out there is absolute and not 40 to 50 percent. There are a whole load of alternative coins with weirder names out there and no one comes even close to bitcoin. So you’re right in a way, cause no matter how many alt coins there is out there, there isn’t anyone amongst them that can be a threat to the dominance of bitcoin.
I also think that the number of different cryptocurrencies out there would confuse the ignorant newbie on what coin to invest in.
1323  Economy / Economics / Re: Monthly or weekly pay? Fixed or percentage earning? what is your prefrence. on: February 14, 2023, 04:38:53 PM
My financial manager is not very good so I personally prefer to be paid with a weekly system where it is easier for me to calculate expenses in one day. and I can pay bills faster and can still save every month. but everyone has their own opinion, that's why I prefer weekly over monthly

I don’t really see how your financial manager being not very good relates to how you would like to be paid. Besides, why would you have a financial manager that isn’t very good and still retain him while that would make you to prefer a weekly payment to a monthly one.
I must admit, having a weekly pay has its perks. You get paid weekly and can solve minor emergencies as they arise and if you’re prudent enough, still have some left over for some savings.
1324  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 14, 2023, 05:47:26 AM
Will this weaken the US in the long run? Or will it strengthen it?
The US is already involved in sponsoring many military missions worldwide, over stretched as it is, the US is already weakening unlike china that is not so involved in many military exercises. A conflict between US-China and Taiwan will weaken the US more and will have a massive global effect because the united states and china are two countries that are engaged in production of materials and things exported worldwide, the United States and China also have a lot of military alliances, many countries will be drawn into the war by virtue of their agreement.

The US is involved in military drills and missions worldwide. I won’t exactly say they’re sponsoring these drills and missions worldwide. And if it’s the Russia Ukraine war that you’re talking about, it’s no new news that the United States is actively sending aid in the form of weapons and equipments. You should know those equipments and weapons are in reserve and could be gifted to other nations. It won’t affect their military operations and capabilities in any way.

The US is not already weakening like you purported, I wouldn’t want to be alive in a world where the two largest economies and military might go into a war to fight themselves. I’d like to think that the US has more allies than China has and in the event of a war, those allies won’t sit on the sidelines for long.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 13, 2023, 04:34:44 PM
What you are saying is like bitcoin is unreliable, bitcoin is on the same level as altcoins, and bitcoin is afraid of altcoins taking its place. Bitcoin is king, which means no matter how many altcoins are created, they will never be able to compare with bitcoin. Even if we have millions more altcoins but as long as bitcoin outperforms all, there is no reason to fear. Every environment has competition, and if we are really strong, then there is no need to fear those who are weaker than us.

I don’t think that’s the message the OP is trying to pass. Bitcoin isn’t on the same level as any alt coin and no alt coin has the capacity or potential to replace bitcoin.
The OP was talking about the possibility of having so many alt coins making it difficult and confusing for mostly newbies to make a decision on which coin to invest in. Bitcoin is bigger and better than all the other alt coins put together and can’t be comparable in any way. Presently, there isn’t any alt coin that is a threat to the dominance of bitcoin in the cryptocurrency space and I don’t see anyone coming close to bitcoin anytime soon.
1326  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving is Wasting? on: February 13, 2023, 02:21:45 PM
Saving is different from investing. In saving, you are preparing for something in the future so you can have funds for emergency purposes while in investing, you are risking your money and you're also expecting your profit. It's good to have both at the same time but you don't have to force things for now if you can't afford to invest yet. You can save money so you have something to invest. Saving isn't a waste of money because you are just preparing yourself to be financially ready if unnecessary things happen or if you have important things to spend on your studies.

Yes, I agree with you on your point. Having some savings put aside is totally different from having some investments. Having some savings is not wasting and shouldn’t be classified as such. There are a lot of people that do not invest their money for various personal reasons.
Having some savings is great and important as it is money kept aside for anything ranging from emergencies to financing a project.
Investments are also great and somewhat important as it creates wealth for future purposes if done right. Savings and investments are equally important.
1327  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic implications of a US-China-Taiwan conflict on: February 13, 2023, 01:49:13 PM

How deep of an impact will a US-China-Taiwan conflict have over the global economy? Do you think there's still a possibility for economic recovery after the crisis? Will this weaken the US in the long run? Or will it strengthen it? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley

The United States and China are two of the biggest economies of the world, exporting more than they import thus making them a growing and thriving economy.
We’re currently experiencing the pushbacks of the war involving Russia and Ukraine and it has been so far not a good experience. The economic fallout of the war has been disastrous and has been felt in most parts of the world. Food shortages as well as energy crisis has rocked the world since the war began.

If the United States go into a war with China, the impact would be devastating and the impact would be felt worldwide. The United States with all its aid program that donates billions of dollars to countries in need and various NGOs like the WHO, and all the United Nations affiliated organizations would likely stop and that would in turn would have an enormous effect on the world.

War is really disastrous even between two small nations and economies. With countries like the United States and China going into a war, the negative impact would be felt hard all over the earth.
1328  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: February 13, 2023, 11:28:23 AM
If the life turns its back on me and I be force to rent, I will rent, but in other situations I will try my best to have my own place. I feel more comfortable if I own the place. No matter what agreement or contract you have, place owner can always find a way to kick your out when you rent. I prefer to have small but my own, instead of living in one's trunks.

Would gladly read posts from users that rent for a long period (not exactly one place). What benefits they have. I've already read that some people rent, because it allows them to travel and not to stick to one place. My job forces me to stick to one place. And my city isnt that big (1 million citizens only) to want to try to live in different city places because of its specific areas and needs. In case I need something I have a car or can get there by taxi.

I quite agree with you as having your own place is more better than renting out a apartment. For one, i too feel comfortable living in my own home with no fear of eviction from anyone.
Obviously, when you’re young and starting out on your own, you might be forced to rent. While people rent cause it helps them to be more flexible and not stuck in one place. I think having your own place doesn’t stop you from being flexible. It’s best having your own home as you could do all the traveling and exploring you want and still have a home to come back to and lay your head. I think nothing beats having your own place.
1329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoiners are not friendly physical? on: February 13, 2023, 05:45:05 AM
^^^ But that's the point. You can't easily steal someone else's bitcoins, even if you shoot the guy dead.
...

But well we know that there are cases with torturing to get bitcoins. And unfortunately no one knows that you don't have millions, they will torture for long expecting to get sometimes even what you don't have. So I'd prefer that others know that I don't have that much! But if I will go to the meetings just to say that I'm a beggar that would be suspicious: who will believe the one attending bitcoin meetings and saying he has nothing? Grin

There are definitely cases in which bitcoin holders were targeted for their bitcoin holdings. That's why in my opinion, it’s never safe to disclose your finances or your exact bitcoin holdings to anyone so someone out there won’t be motivated to come and try to get their hands on my finances.
If at any point in time, I’m invited to go for a Bitcoin conference or a meeting of some sort, I wouldn’t disclose my finances to anyone. I’ll probably come on as a newbie with no investment but eager to learn. It’s better and safer to keep everyone guessing.
1330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin current price on: February 13, 2023, 05:31:13 AM
There have been different predictions and analysis done from so called analysts and they’ve turned out wrong most of the time. I think we shouldn’t let anyone’s analysis or predictions affect our judgement as we’ve seen lots of predictions over the years come to naught.
There would always be different opinions on the price and value of bitcoin and we shouldn’t let people’s opinions sway us into doing something we would regret later on.
I personally think bitcoin, this year would although slowly, continue to rise and grow on pass the price it’s currently at.
1331  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: February 12, 2023, 07:04:38 PM
One way to improve the world's food situation is through smarter, more meaningful consumption. If you know, in developed countries, from 20 to 30% of purchased products go to the trash can. It's wasteful. I understand that people DO have the OPPORTUNITY to buy more than they can actually consume. but that doesn't mean you should do it. More reasonable consumption, one of the ways to solve the problem of food. Plus, there is the problem, for example, of some African countries that have been "sitting" for many years on international funds (on the basis of the UN, the Red Cross and the like), which simply consume, but do nothing to really change the situation. Perhaps it is necessary not only to bring food and distribute it, but to invest in the construction of agricultural production, train the local population and encourage them to WORK. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. I was in one African country where there is no desert, there are many quite fertile lands, but the local population says "we do not want and will not work, just keep bringing us food, we are so comfortable" ...
In a word, you need
1. redistribution and quality consumption
2. to force the population, which sits on "subsidies" and does not want to work, to work, including in the role of farmers.

I’m curious on the African country you visited that despite having no desert lands, and according to you quite fertile lands but the local population literally says they do not want to work and the food should just be rolling in.
I would think that the UN or any NGO sending food and aid to that area would immediately stop sending aid there if the populace says there are not willing to work but are able to. Besides, these charitable organizations normally visit famine prone areas or disaster zones to spread relief and not somewhere that the land is fertile enough for crops to grow.

I quite agree with you on the need for more reasonable consumption as people with the financial muscle could purchase foodstuff that is more than they need and a large chunk of the groceries end up later on in the trash. I believe there are people who after having bought more than needed, would let foodstuffs go bad than donate to someone in need.
1332  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: February 12, 2023, 05:56:34 PM

Using an example of myself at the physical office I work at, I along with my other coworkers haven't gotten a raise since I joined, while only a selected few got theirs as soon as 1 year after joining. Similar workload too.

Why work at a company that doesn't know how to appreciate their staffs?

There are lots of reasons on why companies would either let an individual go or frustrate you into resigning yourself. We should remember that the business is there to primarily make profits and anything or anyone that would hinder the business into the dream that the owner has envisioned would be cut off and terminated.

I think while on a job, we should still make moves to better ourself with necessary skills and certifications. So we would rise up through the ranks easily. Picture this; An employee working for 15 -20 years with the same certification he came into the company with vs an employee who regularly improves on his certifications and acquires new relevant skills and expertise. Who do you think would likely be promoted more often?
1333  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: February 11, 2023, 08:46:27 PM
How do we survive food shortages? Easy solution. Try tilling the ground to grow your own food and be self sufficient.
Food shortages is on the increase in an alarming rate and coupled with the recent events involving Ukraine and Russia as well as the steady warming of the earth, it’s only getting worse.
Ideally, the easiest way out of all this is to get a piece of land and cultivate your own foods. That way, you would be self sufficient as well as having some cash crops to put some money in your pockets along the way.
1334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People will choose bitcoins more if the number of cryptocurrency option is less. on: February 11, 2023, 07:41:02 AM
Well, I think it’s obvious that you would be a bit confused on which movie to select and watch since you didn’t log on the streaming platform with a particular movie in mind to watch. With so many genres and amazing options to choose from, anyone would take a while to choose a movie to see.

I think that also applies to the cryptocurrencies. When coming into the crypto space for the first time, you would obviously be confused as they’re a lot of coins out there. But if you have the knowledge of what you want to invest in, then there is no confusion as you know exactly what you’re looking for.
There are people that invest in alt coins to get some profit before the coin becomes obsolete. And they’re people that invest in alt coins cause they don’t know what they’re doing.

Like your movie analogy, people are confused cause they’re a lot of options to choose from. Very rational. That’s why people should always do their research and know exactly what coin they are about to invest in.
1335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 10, 2023, 10:01:47 AM
Manchester City and Aston Villa match is ahead. It would be foolish to underestimate Aston Villa even if you think Manchester City is the favorite in this match. I think Aston Villa will be a great opponent in this match.

It would surely be foolish to underestimate Aston Villa in the match ahead. Manchester City is the obvious favorite to win in this game and might probably win. But we shouldn’t forget so soon about what happened in the recent game featuring Manchester United vs Leeds. Manchester United was the obvious favorite to win like we’ve got in this case. I bet everyone underestimated Leeds then and Leeds stepped up and held Manchester United to a draw surprising everyone and of course making people lose out on their bets also.
1336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 10, 2023, 09:00:08 AM
At the moment there is indeed some news about this MLS club making serious talk about Aubameyang and of course this is profitable.
He won't get many chances at Chelsea and we know that so forcing it will only torture him on the bench where in the end he will be in the same position as at Barcelona. with a move to LAFC in MLS it will bring him back to life at least he will still be popular there.
Aubameyang isn't Ronaldo where every fans are following him, not the team he joined. Ronaldo now join Al Nassr FC, many people don't mind to watch Saudi Arabia league in order to see Ronaldo is playing. If Aubameyang have joined Los Angeles FC, do you think many fans will choose to watch MLS? nope, probably only few people. It will be the end of Aubemeyang career if he can't score many goals on there, he need to try very hard in order to back to Premier League.
Aubameyang is nothing compared to ronaldo. Ronaldo is an influencer with the most followers on Instagram. How can aubameyang follow what ronaldo did? It seems like he doesn't aware if aubameyang is very far compared with ronaldo. Los angeles FC was also offering a low salary to him compared with ronaldo. It must need to be multiplied so many times. Aubameyang just wanna still continue his career as chelsea didn't need him anymore. He was also feeling disappointed with the result from the decision taken by potter to remove him from the UCL squad of chelsea.

Ronaldo is now more than just a star footballer. He’s like you said also an influential person with a great number of following on social media. Asides all that, he’s still an amazing player. While Aubameyang also plays beautiful football, he just can’t be compared with Ronaldo.
Which player wouldn’t feel disappointed to be omitted from the squad of the esteemed champions league cup. I know I would. I still think Aubameyang still has some kick left in him and could still play good football in the premier league.
1337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 10, 2023, 05:28:22 AM
I am still waiting with FA as England Football Association investigating about financial fair play issues from Manchester City and possibility with heavy punishment until relegated to amateur level. Actually not only with Manchester City's manager Pep Guardiola will leave this team but also all star player will reach mutual contract early for joining with the other team.

I still remember when Juventus faced calciopoli and relegated to Serie B and many star players leaving team and left few loyal player keep extended and success bring back Juventus to Serie A. Its depend with punishment receive by Manchester City will drop to championship level or have drop to amateur level will give different decision from several star player keep extended or leave City.

I’m also waiting for the outcome and the possible punishment and sanctions that Manchester City would likely have to face. I almost feel sorry for the club but if they had gone against any rules and regulations, then they should face the music and bear the consequences of their actions and decisions.
And if they feel so bad about it, then perhaps they should consider not to violate any rules next time. I hope this wouldn’t dampen the morale and confidence the fans have in the club. Like all bad spells, things would gradually turn out well later on.
1338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: February 08, 2023, 02:49:27 PM
around 7 more days round of 16 in the Champions League will begin. And I think almost any game will be very difficult to predict. but of all that I think the match that is the most difficult to predict and will likely be the fiercest will be the match between PSG vs Bayern. although in the last 5 meetings we can see Bayern winning more matches, namely Bayern managed to get 4 wins from the last 5 meetings. while PSG only won 1 time in the last 5 meetings. even though Bayern have won more wins, that doesn't mean Bayern will be superior in this match. because the two teams have almost the same strength. but because PSG is the host, PSG's chances of winning are bigger.

The round of 16 in the Champions league tournament begins on the 14 with AC Milan playing Tottenham. I think the first match of the champions league is always exciting and a bit tense.
I think AC Milan is playing okay and their form isn’t too bad. They would in my opinion, most likely to win the game cause I don’t see Tottenham winning against Milan.

PSG vs Bayern Munich would also be a must watched as I’m pretty sure this match is anticipated by football fans worldwide. It is pretty difficult to predict the outcome off the game as both teams are playing very well and booth are in amazing form as well. But if I would have to pick a side, I would say PSG has a more realistic chance of winning the game against Bayern. Can’t wait to see Messi play in the Champions League

If Galatasaray is really able to sign Coutinho then i think this would be a huge deal for them. Philippe Coutinho is still one of the most talented players out there in the world of football in my opinion,

Coutinho was exceptional at Liverpool, but the transfer in Barcelona ruined his career. I don't know what happened in the Catalonian team with this guy. Going to a club like Galatasaray means that Coutinho is now basically a second tier player. Perhaps Jurgen Klopp would've tried to convince Coutinho into signing with Liverpool, so that the Brazilian player could get a chance to revive his career in a top tier club and help Liverpool in their battle for the fourth place in the Premier League.
Marco Asensio was never really a key player for Real Madrid. He's more like a substitute player, who replaces the big stars at the end of the match  for 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately he didn't turn into the new Raul Gonzales, despite the fact that he was prepared in Real Madrid's Academy. Maybe he will find his place in Arsenal.

The performance of Coutinho has greatly declined. Presently playing at Aston Villa, he rarely scores goals or assists or even to create chances. After his disastrous season in Barcelona, he went over to Bayern and actually did pretty good over there. He may have actually did better under Klopp at Liverpool. Now speculations going round about his move to Galatasaray over in Turkey.
In my opinion, Liverpool’s Salah performance has also dropped a notch. He hasn’t scored much goals as he did the previous season and with his recent performance, it doesn’t look like he would have a turn around soon.
1340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 08, 2023, 02:02:06 PM
I was wondering in winter transfer window why Real Madrid doesn't try to signing new strikers because i think if Real Madrid bought at least one player probably they will solved this problem

They do need new players in their ranks. For example, there are some speculations about Asensio leaving the club for Arsenal at the end of his contract. If he does make the move to Arsenal, they would need to find someone to replace him. Also, it’s in my opinion that the management start looking for a replacement for Luka Modric and Toni kroos. They’re still good players; just not as good as they used to be. The replacements, if any should be of solid quality. Their situation would improve if they acquire new players and not having to rely on a certain few to score goals.
