1321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin devs can undo 21M supply cap but can’t force changes on: January 24, 2024, 01:18:24 PM
Is anyone here like me, I find it a bit strange that since the bitcoin ETFs was approved, topics and questions about bitcoin supply have been appearing more and more? There are even more proposals to change the bitcoin supply.

You're not the only one in question about the sudden interest in topics everywhere in the crypto space about Bitcoin surpassing it's 21 million supply, especially after the ETF approval. This theory might be to test the waters to see people's reaction about the possibilities of Bitcoin surpassing the 21 million. I don't think that it'll be a good development for Bitcoin investment if this were to happen, because this is one of the researched reason why many people invested in it, knowing that the limit will always create scarcity in the future which will make it to continue to retain it's value and relevance. I hope that the propaganda remains in theoretical level and it'll not be practical now or in the future.
1322  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the export of goods related to manufacturing capabilities or resources? on: January 24, 2024, 11:59:41 AM
I think that exporting is more profitable to manufacturing countries, because the manufacturing countries are more well-off than their resources countries that export raw materials to them. Many developed countries rely on developing countries to get their raw materials, they'll only pay for the units of the raw materials collected and after production with resources from other areas they export as finished products to different countries, and the irony of it is that they'll even export the finished products to these underdeveloped countries. This is why countries like China, are big industrialized nations, they probably use most of their natural resources for production, they have a cheaper workforce and so they sale at cheaper price to other Nations, becoming richer in the process. It doesn't really matter where natural resources comes from, if they can not convert it to finished products, then they're enriching the industrialized nations that'll buy their resources produce it to finished product and resale it to them.
1323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you preffer your dealer talkative or not? on: January 24, 2024, 11:02:49 AM
What do you think about this all? Do you like your dealer talkative or not?
And if you prefer the dealer being talkative, would you mind if they made up some story just to keep talking? Or would you prefer even that over silence?
To be completely honest i do not really care, as long as they do their job and make the necessary announcements at the table. There would be customers who prefer when the dealer talks a lot about unnecessary things and even makes up stories to keep conversing, it is down to individual preferences, but in my opinion it is great if the dealer simply does things moderately and without an excess in anything.

A dealer can talk because most times silence can be boring in tables, so any light conversations can help relieve tenseness and make the mood to be on lighter notes. Although dealers should be professional in their conversations and should be respectful with utterances and have some reasonable sense of humor, if they're able to strike a meaningful conversation that can flow with the game, then it's all part of the fun and everybody will feel relaxed.

Despite that small talks are good to lighten tensed moods and relax everybody, silence can be golden if a dealer doesn't have anything meaningful to say, it's better not to say anything than talking and being more boring.
1324  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is arbitrage still possible in crypto ? on: January 24, 2024, 10:02:32 AM
is arbitrage still possible in crypto ? anyone has any luck with this method ?
I've tried it but I don't feel like I have much benefit from that method. Unless we really have quite large capital. Because sometimes the price difference between Cex is not that big. Or sometimes it returns to the same price quickly. But this method is still possible. But it must be an altcoin that has fast transaction speeds. Because if we do this on an altcoin that has a very slow network confirmation speed then we will be late when sending it to another exchange. But for now I don't use that method. Because it's too risky. Because sometimes we experience losses when prices decline and we actually lose in transaction fees.

Arbitrage trading is still possible in crypto trading but I don't know about the popularity, most traders that I know don't use the method, they'd prefer to do their trading in one exchange, because in using different exchange you'd have to be monitoring prices in them, in the end the difference might not be much, or within a short time price can stabilize. Moreover it might not be worth it without having enough capital, so it comes down to the choice of individual traders, the method that suits them best
1325  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crypto & Older Generation on: January 24, 2024, 08:12:18 AM
I think maybe older people already have significant savings & pension funds etc. they use traditional brokerage firms with boring stocks and 401k packages. They don’t look for alternative investments because they maybe don’t need to, they are already financially sound. I wouldn’t say 40 is the cut off though, there are loads of people over 40 deep in bitcoin. It’s probably the over 60’s who are hesitant to get into crypto.

Older folks in their prime had solid investments that is still giving them ROI till this day, and there's nothing that you can tell them about crypto investment, assets that is in digital currency that'll make any meaning to them. And you can't really blame them if they don't key into crypto investments because of the news of social media scams, they'd think that any investment that is not in real physical asset is scam. They'd believe that only shares in physical companies, real estate, bonds that is guaranteed by a central authority, they want investments that they'll hold a physical certificate as evidence of ownership. It's only the younger generation who are born in the internet age that can fully understand the modern technological investments like Bitcoin.
1326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding privacy and security on: January 24, 2024, 06:49:34 AM
Privacy is a lifestyle more than simple rules that are followed. Unless you learn how to develop yourself and search for everything new, you will not enhance your privacy, as the world is changing rapidly, so continuous learning is necessary for privacy.
part of your privacy links contain trackers, which are bad for privacy, so the first lesson in privacy requires using a good browser that you trust, otherwise it will be the first to collect data about you, and you must stay away from everything associated with Google and Cloudflare as much as possible.

Totally agree that if we want to attain true privacy and improve on our security consciousness then we have to make it a lifestyle, so protecting against scams and hacks will come natural to us. So we must only submit our KYC where it is most necessary and ofcourse the reputation of the app that we're doing this must be well known, like in the case of CEX, an exchange like Binance, is trustworthy and their services are very important, so you can do it to be able to use their services. Having a lifestyle of being security conscious is basically carrying out research first on any unfamiliar sites on the internet before engaging in their services and don't trusting anything said by unknown persons on social media sites, because they might be scammers. Do your due diligence first on security matters whether it's on or offline.
1327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where to promote information about projects? on: January 24, 2024, 06:02:26 AM
This forum is the best place to start your advertisement campaigns as you there are some good bounty and campaign managers who will do end to end by running your social media campaigns and also the best crypto related crowd can be forum on this forum hence you may start from here but it should be a genuine project else people will term it as a scam much earlier.

This forum is a good place to start the promotion of your project, as it hosts members who have interests in cryptocurrency, one members also visit the forum daily and most of them will have interest in crypto related discussions, so you can start your signature campaign here. I believe that experienced and professional campaign managers can also give you better guidelines on how best to run your project advert across social media outlets. It's best to spend money on advertisements and get your project known, and if it's not a scam project, then it's last in the crypto space and you'll get investors.
1328  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Are online banks slowly replacing commercial banks on: January 23, 2024, 08:38:54 PM
The Fintech banks or online banks are really taking over from our traditional commercial banks, and the main reason be say dem network speed de very fast pass the commercial banks dem own. Before now person fit to de struggle for hours make one transaction to go through, sometimes wen transactions go through and money comot for your account, e fit to take days before e go enter recipients account, na so you go carry di matter de enter bank and de speak grammar for customer service staff dem. Truth of di matter now be say our commercial banks dem don wake up now and dem don de try for speedy transactions, all thanks to di online banks dem.

But just like for crypto matters, where reputable crypto coins wey don tey for market and dem don build solid reputation and you know say your investment de safe, versus new projects wey you no know weda dem go turn to shitcoins and your investment go follow dem sink. So make we no trust online banks go forget say our commercial banks don build solid trust and reputation on ground. Online banks fit to go bankrupt or shutdown, na who you go hold, but dat one no fit happen easily for commercial banks wey get plenty branches. So e de better to do fast transactions for online banks and save our money for commercial banks.

1329  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Can we proudly tell people that we're Bitcoiners? on: January 23, 2024, 07:32:22 PM
No be everybody go fit to understand say you de join discussion for one forum and at di end of di week dem go just pay you just like dat, most people go think say na cover up for yahoo things wey you de into. E no good to tell lies but for dis our forum matter, make you keep di information to your self, unless say you get correct person wey you wan carry enter di forum, na im you fit to discuss am with, odawise no need to de broadcast Yoursef. Bad belle people plenty, dem fit report you say you be yahoo guy, you go come go de explain yourself for police or EFCC, dem even fit to set you up thinking say you get plenty Bitcoin for your wallet, so as dis forum de anonymous na so you suppose code yoursef anonymously for outside di forum.
1330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Look out for a good Altcoin and buy now! on: January 23, 2024, 06:43:43 PM

My candid advises to people who do not have the opportunity to buy bitcoin, is to find an altcoin that they can buy and hodl. If it is difficult to know which altcoin to buy, then I'll just list a few here i think i can spend some bucks on. They include Solana, Ethereum, BnB and Doge.

Let's put some effort and hope for the best to happen.

Your list is on point, you've mentioned top altcoins that are worth putting money in, they've proven that they can be trusted in the crypto market, because they've withstood the test of time just like Bitcoin, I'll advise my loved ones who wants to invest in cryptocurrency, that after Bitcoin, then let it be Ethereum, BNB, Solana and any other reputable crypto coins in the market. Ofcourse new projects are not in the list for long term investments, to cash in on bull run with Bitcoin. New projects are good for the short term investments, an investor has to carry out research to determine the ones that are not scam projects before buying.
1331  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto: a place where everyone makes money, but few secure it on: January 23, 2024, 06:00:30 PM
This is not only happen in crypto, but other industry too.

Many athletes and celebrities makes a lot money, but not all of them can maintain their wealth because they don't understand about money management and investment, they use almost of their money for their lifestyle.

While in cryptos, most people lost their money because lack of knowledge e.g. invest in ponzi, trust in centralized exchange, and invest in altcoins.

It's not everyone that makes money in crypto investments, some invest in scam projects, others in crypto Ponzi and they lose their investment capital leaving them worse off than when they ventured into it, but if an investor is able to carry out research and know the right crypto to invest in like Bitcoin, then in the long run there'll be a huge ROI for the person. So there's potentials to make money in crypto, but the investors have to choose wisely.

Making money and losing it is not perculiar to crypto investments, it can happen in any other lucrative industry like sports and entertainment, stock, real estate and others, without knowledge of money or financial management, there's a good chance that the person can become broke after experiencing money windfall. So knowing how to manage wealth is as important as making it in the first place.

1332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your state on mind if your son stole your money to gamble? on: January 23, 2024, 11:33:47 AM

Question: would she be so disheartened and mad as this if the son had won the bet on a multi million price?
Dear fellows, let's assume you are the mom, what would be your state of mind on this context?

It doesn't matter to me if the child won the bet or not, what matters is that he gambled with a stolen money, and that is a criminal act, if the child is an adult then he can go to jail and serve time for stealing.

The mother telling a child that does not have a source of income to replace money that is gone is the same thing as telling him to go and steal it from someone else, but I guess that the mother said that out of frustration and never really meant it. The first thing for her to do is change her account passwords and hide every sensitive information where the child can not access them, to avoid a repeat of similar incident. Also the young Man needs continuous counseling about the dangers of stealing and the loses in gambling, by professionals or family and friends that he's familiar with,
1333  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges 2023 annual report by TokenInsight on: January 23, 2024, 10:29:35 AM

What are your assessment about the performance of this exchanges, do you see any exchange making any stride to compete with Binance by the end of 2024? Do you think ORCA can also maintain its position in the DEX world?

Binance remains the top centralized exchange, just like it has been over the years, it's the most popular among the known exchanges, whether it's CEX or DEX. Despite the issues that it's owner and former CEO CZ, is facing with the US authorities that prompted the appointment of a new CEO, people speculated that it might affect the reputation of the exchange, but clearly that is not the case now, and so far the new CEO mr. Teng, is working hard to maintain the trust that people have about the exchange, I don't see them shifting ground from the number one position. As for decentralized exchanges, I don't use them, so it's no wonder that I've not heard about ORCA, before, congratulations to them for hitting the number one in DEX.
1334  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Decentralization things are awesome but in some country on: January 23, 2024, 08:21:25 AM
On a more serious note though, those use cases are real and specially useful on totalitarian countries.

Moreover, even in today's most free countries there still is money debasement and control over what people can buy.

Bitcoin enforces absolute scarcity, something unprecedented.

Bitcoin offers the holder privacy and freedom to carry out transactions without the involvement of centralized authorities, no third parties and no limitations, this is why many governments sees it's decentralization as a threat and they'll do everything possible not to see it work in their countries. But you can't keep a good thing under the carpet, so despite the challenges that Bitcoin has faced, being banned or it's usage having restrictions in these countries, the adoption keeps increasing because people are becoming more aware that it's a valuable asset to hold.

1336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin hidden gems. on: January 23, 2024, 06:11:54 AM
Actually How can we define a good research?  reading their white papers? Some times even scam project create good white papers even they disappear Smiley

Now I aint saying research makes any altcoin a sure bet.  Heck no.  These things stay risky business.  But informing yourself gives better chances of making calls that won't leave you crying into your beer a year from now.  So put in the hours before you put in the investments.  Might make all the difference.

I'm not really a fan of altcoins, especially new projects, I sometimes hear about new projects that can become gems and worthy to buy, but because of the fact that there are more scams than legit coins makes me to be skeptical about them. Carrying out research that in the end of the day might not result to much, really makes me lazy to indulge in the task, ofcourse there are some new ones that are worth investing in, that'll guarantee good profit on the short term, giving you a good ROI. But personally I only have interest in established top altcoins, I like to put my hard earned money in altcoins that I'm sure that have proven to be reputable in the crypto market, like Ethereum.
1337  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: IF NOT FOR GARRI: Drop your story on: January 22, 2024, 07:32:45 PM
We all know and have had an encounter with this life saver … Garri actually saw me through till I graduated , there was no day that I was down and garri wasn’t there to save me…: Omor if not for garri , man for don mud😂😂

Bro, you need to be more creative in your posts, if you wan make meaningful impact for dis forum, you for just relate drinking garri to Bitcoin matter, something like "I de ready to de drink garri and deny myself of some luxuries so I go fit save money to de buy Bitcoin de hodle till bull run", then you fit end am with how drinking garri no be new thing to you based on say na im sustain you through school, wen ground no level. Anyway I encourage you say make you no de in a haste to start topic, make you focus on learning and increasing your knowledge about Bitcoin, gradually you go begin to de make meaningful contributions and de start quality topic, all di best.
1338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it even possible to offer 10% daily reward? on: January 22, 2024, 06:38:21 PM
Lol! No real world business can generate 10% income on their investment. So this looks like a ponzi scam to me. Anyone can create a token and can declare rewards even at 100% a day. But that does not mean this project is a legitimate one.

Money cannot be created out of thin air. Yes such projects get listed in pancake swap as it has become a hub of scam coins. So if you are getting this coins for free, go ahead. But do not invest your hard earned money into it.

The project is definitely a scam, it has Ponzi writing all over it, because giving investors 10% reward daily is not realistic for any business that plans to be in business for a long time. What they'll do is pay the rewards for sometime, after they've gathered enough greedy investors who'll probably sale off all their assets and others will borrow money to invest, by then the scammers have gathered more than enough returns on their scam project, they'll just shutdown. So if OP is up for the game, then it's better that he's not greedy and invests the amount that he can afford to loose, so hopefully he'll get some of his ROI before the ship will capsizes.
1339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Denying yourself comfortability in other to buy Bitcoin on: January 22, 2024, 05:59:43 PM
Nothing good comes easy, so to achieve something meaningful and great, someone has to sacrifice something, it can be putting in extra time, denying oneself luxury, saving more money or staying away from loved ones in order to achieve the targeted aim. So if an average income earner is determined to invest big in Bitcoin, it's to be disciplined and spend bellow their income to be able to achieve it, they can be doing DCA method, and avoid lifestyles that can derail them from meeting the target of long term hodling. But the problem is that with all the positive mindset and and knowledge of investment, without having enough income to meet basic needs then the desire becomes a pipe dream.
1340  Economy / Economics / Re: Demand and supply directly and indirectly related. on: January 22, 2024, 04:42:21 PM
Demand and supply can have a direct or indirect relationship, affecting market behaviour and performance. Understanding this is crucial for organizations seeking to optimize operations and competitiveness. Thorough research and analysis are necessary to gain the insights needed.

You should have given more insights and examples into your analyzing of demand and supply so we can understand better from the perspective that you're coming from. Anyways it's the supply and demand for goods and services that determines their prices in the market, if supply is greater than demand, then price will fall, likewise if demand is greater than supply then price will increase, this will continue until when demand and supply will settle at an equilibrium price. This is the basic economics concept that drives the market behavior and performance like you said. The concept also drives competition among producers of goods of close substitutes, if the price of one product is high in price, consumers will want want switch to another brand that produces similar product at a cheaper price. In the end it's the demand from consumers and the availability from suppliers that determines market price.
