Nope! But that's an excellent idea!!

We need a name for our company first. What shall it be?

After given it a lot of thought, Rankapalooza could easily be marketable. Call it that, and I'm in.

Oh, it will have to have a goat logo of sorts. Change the text to BTC Moto, and I believe the following will work.

Wow, that is some father. I wonder why Nevada was his chosen state to be governor, lol.

How can BFL_Sonny say almost nothing about his father, other than that he became enamored with him as an adult?

An adult in his mid twenties, that is.

There's something about that Laissez Faire City deal I'm missing, but can't put my finger on it.

James Orlin Grabbe is one major connection, but still feel there's more to this story besides him, Houston, Vleisides, Gevers, et al. (previously mentioned on this forum)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Orlin_Grabbe

The follow books may offer up clues:

I just got a personal message from Sonny.  My personal ethics are to not divulge pm's, but it had something to do with photos and some data which I personally don't have.

I've been relatively mute on the BFL accusations (though my personal suspicions and disgust at the LFC goings-on shine through sometimes), I'm not a perp-hunter, and I've never mentioned anything about any photos.

I've not responded to the pm in part because I am not completely confident that I understand the nuances of the forum software.  Probably Sonny has just got me confused with someone else (Phin?) although I would expect Sonny to be fairly bright, paying close attention, and not at all unfamiliar with the concept of threads of conversation.  I wonder if anyone else has received such a pm?

No communications here, and do concur that Sonny would know the ropes in regard to forum communications, for he was editor of Laissez Faire City Times newsletter and owns webspawner.com since 1995, of which begs the question--who ran said site while the Greek geek was sitting in a Dago jail for two years? It had to be somebody he put the utmost trust into.

Déjà vu all over again? (from 2005)   http://www.talkgold.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-23413.html

Quote
James Ray Houston, also known as Rex Rogers , used his son in most of his scams.
Very many of the Flo systems were also present in the Laissez faire City scam.

Quote
Ian Fraser is a well known NZ fella, he steers the gullible to these scams and gets a bounty.
J. Orlin Grabbe set up a now defunct online currency sytem, DMT.
Mailvault was a product of Laissez Faire City programmers and buggy as hell, not real private unless you WANTED your info sold to scammers. Or the fed, they hired a ( former , he said when exposed) IRS revenue agent to help them work out the bugs and I bet he did.
The final audit is a classic comedy laugh fest-have a look.

JANE ANN MORRISON: Sheriff's reference jogs memories of 1970s 'Silver King' political scandal

Quote
He came back to face 24 charges of mail and wire fraud but was found not guilty by federal jurors, who decided that, yes, he had stiffed his investors but had no intent to defraud. The 1,182 investors who had lost more than $3.5 million by investing in nonexistent silver were out of luck.

In the end, the Silver King's silver was gone. Investors lost their money to a glib con man, a self-promoter who wanted to be governor of Nevada, a man with more money than sense who believed his own PR.

I'm not sure if this applies or not in reference to the past couple dozen odd posts, but I'll quote it nonetheless. I took the liberty of removing any reference as to which company the quote applies to, but rest assure a wise man penned it. Enjoy.

XXX is the clear technical leader in the XXX and upcoming XXXX XXXing space.  As a direct result, the company has grown very quickly over the past year.  Unfortunately, its customer service, which was initially very good, did not scale fast enough, which caused customer relations and transparency to suffer. XXX is eager to improve and one of my top responsibilities in this new position is to focus on that specific issue.  I am, have always been and will always be committed to good customer service and transparency when it comes to bXXXXXX in general and the daily operations of related activities.  This is where I will be focusing much of my initial attention, specifically to take the pressure off of everyone involved so that they can focus on the other important factors, such as getting the hardware delivered on time!

Pi.     Thunderbit.       Smokincigs.     All me.. I was banned and I want this chance to clear my name.  I had over 70 btc in loans and paid them all back... Yet everyone called me a scammer. So I got angry and spammed that other people were scammers.  I'm not saying it was right.  But that's all I've ever done wrong here.  This forum is a cold cold place.  Ask anyone I've interacted with I'm an ok guy.  Ask any of the onevillainpoker guys I've played with.  I'm not some out to get you scammer.  I'm just some guy who was driven out of the forum for doing nothing wrong.  I was angry.. I didn't understand where all the hostility was coming from..
I sold my soul to this forum.. That's gotta mean something.  If I get booted again.. Just know I am right and honest.. And you are judgemental and paranoid.

Man, its sad there's still people defending all this bullshit. I guess i would be pretty sour too if i threw all my money into a bottomless pit, which is starting to look more bleek by the second.

ITS CALLED A LONG CON PEOPLE.... has everybody already forgotten that pirate paid out on time for almost a year before taking off with millions.

Luckily we have a backup plan. User DonShrents will just call Sonny's dad if...

Seriously, EFF will be fine, and can easily do it via fiat when the time arrives. Proof will be offered up when the transaction transpires.

I can't wait to read what the answer will be in regard to who is Sonny K.

Electronic Frontier Foundation.  As for Sonny K, hopefully BFL_Sonny will address that when he posts.  As I understand it, he will be working on a response this weekend.

If I understand your post correctly, Sonny is not too concerned about his investment in Butterfly Labs nor its customers if he's planning on waiting till the weekend to address a few easy questions and concerns in regard to BFL. If I were Sonny, I would have addressed them yesterday, no later than today, so that I can enjoy the weekend, readdressing further concerns come Monday. But that's me.

Please, Josh, don't take any harshness that may be coming across in my posts as being directed toward you. You're doing a heck of job conducting damage control under the circumstances.

Later, bud.

~Bruno~

PS: I need more info on EFF. I won't renege on my offer, but I am curious as to who is EFF.

Total refund requests:  3
Refund requests granted: 3
Total positive private emails, PMs: 14

Basically, the people bitching and moaning for the most part don't appear to be customers or they don't want it known that they are being hypocritical by publicly decrying BFL yet continuing to patronize BFL.

Bottom line is, we aren't losing customers, we are gaining them, so we must be doing something right.  Like... providing superior equipment at reasonable prices.  Just a start.

@Bruno I am glad to see you stepping up to the plate, it puts you head and shoulders above all the others assuming you follow through.  The charity would be the EFF.  BF Labs and Butterfly Labs are the same company.  Why they were originally differentiated, I am not sure off hand, it happened long before I had any part in BFL.

Great! Please clarify EFF as to who the charity is. I look forward to donating to them once this issue is hopefully behind us.

Now as to who is Sonny K at <sonny@butterflylabs.com.

Clearly, it's not Sonny Vleisides, but if it is, we're back to the trust issue which got this whole ball of wax a rollin' again.

You know what I wonder?  Are all you whiners crying about a scam going to pony up an apology when the ASICs ship?

My prediction:  Crickets.

I hope someone bumps this particular post after we ship the ASICs, I want see the rush of apologies.  I'll hold my breath.

Why would anyone need to apologize for voicing perfectly reasonable concerns today? Even if ASICs do ship as promised, the concerns were perfectly reasonable and deserve explanations.

I'll go one better. I will donate $100 USD, or Bitcoin equivalent, to a charity of your choice, Josh, when BFL delivers all that's promise. (somebody, please quote, for if I don't follow through, The Tag will be warranted)

With that out of the way, and since there's only about 22 employees of which the answer lies to my next question, who is Sonny K?

Hi Matthew,

Thanks again for your interest in our product.

BF Labs Inc.

I've also read that Butterfly Labs is no longer BF Labs Inc. Does that mean that BFly Consultancy in expected soon? The reason I'm asking is if I went through all the trouble and expense to incorporate Bruno's Barn Wood Emporium, I doubt I would change the name to Bruno's Barnwood Inc. LLC once I started recognizing a profit. This issue may be mute, but a concern arises just the same.

That said, the Sonny K question seriously needs addressing.

Looks like Sonny locked his thread, siting it's the competition's fault (in no uncertain terms). To be fair, he did state that a third post is forthcoming. I'll assume it'll be long, addressing most every question and concern to date.

No taxes or bureaucracy in planned libertarian paradise: Adventurers seek to establish a capitalist Utopia in the jungle

Quote
The group already has 60 founding members, each of whom put up $5,000 (pounds 3,125) and a recent advertisement in the Economist yielded a flood of letters and faxes. "Some of them have been sending us unsolicited money, which is more than we asked for," said Sonny Vleisides, editor of the Laissez Faire City Times, the newsletter sent to every prospective founder.

Yet MORE Laissez Faire City info.

Quote
Mailvault is a supposedly secure email system- Mailvault.com-
built by the Laissez Faire City programmers, see the previous posts. There was an IRS revenue agent on the staff of Laissez Faire City during the time this was built. This agent helped troubleshoot systems that the LFC security "experts" just could not figure out. And a bang up job he did too!
Surely no federal tax agent would stoop to a backdoor in a system used to move funds by a large group of tax evaders? By Saint Ayn of the holy Rand, that just would not be possible!, right?

My Russian is a little rusty, but to me it reads as if some guy is trying to sell one of his kidneys to buy one of those $29K+ rigs: http://www.kharkovforum.com/showthread.php?t=2559118&page=3

Yep, it's definitely rusty. The guy is claiming he wants it to start a foundation for poor or orphan children or something like that, and others are making fun if him because he's refusing to be more specific, so they are telling him to sell a kidney. There's only one comment that a BFL product can earn back €20k euro easily, but it seems to be otherwise ignored.

I can't have any fun when this Ukrainian is around.  Grin

Back to business at hand. I just created this blog about ten minutes ago: http://notesfromlithuania.wordpress.com/2010/01/21/pics-of-the-goats/

BFL_Sonny registered on September 20, 2012, 07:19:23 AM and requested to be whitelisted, started this thread on September 20, 2012, 03:36:36 PM, and hasn't been back since September 20, 2012, 11:27:21 PM, unless he's lurking cloaked. (see the time stamp of this post)

Sonny Vleisides has been involved with Bitcoin in some capacity or another since early last year, for one of his kinfolk registered with Mt Gox prior to their email dump. The address associated with said client used the same address in KC, MO, as is used for BFL's corporation. Besides photography and foundation repair, a myriad of other business types stem from the same address, most of which real personnel must be on hand to perform the various duties, like plumbing, etc.

I've read the OP of this thread three times, each time coming away with the I-like-this-guy feeling, yet something still doesn't smell right.

That said, Sonny should have no problem at all coming on this board and addressing most everything thrown at him by this crowd, for I'm pretty sure he's endured a hell of lot worse in some Dago prison. (at this juncture, I was going to insert a little prison humor, but thought better of it when I luckily recalled Sonny's nationality)
