13261  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: NewDeal2014 SCAMMER on: January 30, 2015, 01:34:02 AM

I loled:

Honestly I don't think the screenshots are shopped, that would be a pretty bad scam, offering to send someone something upfront and actually send something else and hope they pay... yeah not a good scam at all.

I think that it's possible poksak did buy the miner but maybe the amazon seller tried to scam by sending a battery instead. It is a common scam on Amazon/Ebay with Bitcoin miners. In any case buying/selling amazon balances for BTC is REALLY high risk and nobody should do it. I think someone needs to get in contact with amazon support and get back the money from the seller.

The thing is that the seller was supposed to have been reputable. The OP told me that the seller was reputable and gave me their contact info in a PM.

I'm so confused at this point.
According to previous screenshots it was NewDeal2014 that suggested this specific product. I do think you should work with NewDeal to try to resolve this with the amazon seller however assuming you can prove that you did not cancel the order then your part has been fulfilled and NewDeal2014 owes you the bitcoin

THIS is what I received after I signed for the package.

do you have proof?..mate, just tell the truth..

I don't know if you did this, or it was a genuine mistake. Either way, I'm not paying for something I LITERALLY CANNOT USE.

I ordered an Antminer S5 from you. I got this in the mail.

Do you have any video of you opening the package so we know that this is not an attempt to scam the OP?

You know that I don't. People don't video themselves opening a package they expect to be legitimate. I can't say anymore that is proof-backed, really. I'm still working on making screenshots of every single PM the OP sent pressuring me to send the coins before delivery. That was really suspicious to me.

Believe me, I've completed trades here without any problems. I sold Antminer S3s to Crowetic. I sold a PS3 to Smack That Ace. Both with no escrow, both with being paid up front, and I DELIVERED those items. I am not a scammer. This person has sent me some nonsense (I don't even want to know how he faked the screenshots - Firebug?) and wanted to be paid before the package arrived so I couldn't get my coins back.

Again, I can't prove anything but what is in the box and the messages we have sent one another. I just know that I wanted an Antminer S5 from this user and instead received some garbage. If it's his fault, he's a scammer. If it's not his fault, then it sure LOOKS like his fault based on how he pressured me to pay ahead of delivery.

Yesterday (One day before delivery) he BLEW UP MY PM BOX with requests to get paid, seeking out any way he could get coins before the package arrived.

Like i said, find someone who you trust to allow access to your amazon account so they can vouch that the images are not photoshopped

is that proof?? Shocked

If someone were to log into your amazon account who is trusted then they could see that the order really was not canceled and that if NewDeal2014 really did receive a battery then the issue is with the amazon seller not you.
13264  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: NewDeal2014 SCAMMER on: January 30, 2015, 12:48:59 AM
Well I guess the OP could allow a very trusted person access his amazon account to see if the order was in fact canceled or not.

Well the low point between his last post and 3 months prior was $66, so at a minimum he was making a $6.6 million bet that an obvious ponzi was not going to collapse. That is probably one of the stupidest things that anyone could ever possibly do. If he was actually engaged in litigation with theymos then it would make sense for theymos to disallow him from viewing the forum at all

It was $5, the bet happened way way back in August 2012 when pirate defaulted. It was $500,000 at the time, MNW had a bunch of BTC from Bitcoin Magazine so lots of peope thought it was a real bet and didn't try to get their BTC back from pirate. Pirateat40 was actually one of the most trusted people in the Bitcoin community based on his bitcoin-otc feedback, lots of people had met him in person and everyone knew where he lived. Lots of people actually believed he was a really good bitcoin day-trader and he wasn't going to default. It was chaos on the forums around that time especially since lots of people who had been borrowing money or running stocks or even running a wallet website or mining pool had been secretly investing user funds in pirateat40, so there was chaos on bitcointalk.

He's not actually suing theymos, lol, he threatened to sue him if he did not refund him $12k for his 10BTC donation which at the time of the donation was $50. There was a reddit thread about it. I guess theymos gave him back his $50 or something because he no longer has the donator rank.
Well technically a donation is a donation so I don't see any reason why theymos would be obligated to allow someone to keep a donator tag if there is some circumstance that made him want to revoke it.

I think it is very interesting to see how common it is for very trusted members end up as scammers here. It kind of makes me wary of trading out of fear that I will happen to trade with someone as soon as they turn scammer.
13267  Other / Meta / Re: redsn0w leaving us on: January 29, 2015, 11:58:22 PM
Well I think theymos let Matthew M Wright(?) - a person with an untrustworthy tag - say goodbye after getting banned

I remember that, I can't remember the full details but I believe he was only half-banned, like banned from certain sections or something weird like that. Theymos didn't like MNW.
All I know is that apparently he offered insurance on a ponzi, and when the ponzi imploded (who would ever guess this would happen) he was left with millions of dollars worth of liabilities. his last post says that he is still banned and cannot even reply to any posts, so it would appear that he was only temporarily unbanned so he could give his update for his repayment

Pretty much. He made a 100,000BTC bet with the community that pirateat40 wouldn't default then claimed the bet was just a joke. He contacted everyone who made a bet and made a deal with most of them and paid out some money, and in the end theymos had to remove the scammer tag, but he replaced it with the untrustworthy one. Theymos was always banning/unbanning him over various things. MNW then later tried to "sue" theymos for the 10BTC he donated for the donator rank, which I notice he no longer has. He even posted some of theymos' dox online. Soon after that he was saying on Skype/Reddit that he had some weird ban put on him and that he couldn't browse from his IP even when logged out, though I don't know the validity of that claim.

13269  Other / Meta / Re: I need to recover Pm's on: January 29, 2015, 11:38:33 PM
To clarify, the OP was doing a deal with evrynet in which he claims he sent bitcoin to evrynet three times (he sent transactions with outputs to an address evrynet provided for the amount of the transaction three times).

He claims that he deleted the PM's with this person to prove that he sent more then he should have.

Somehow some new user in lending is also involved (not really sure the connection, but for some reason the OP thinks they are friends). Both accounts in question are very old newbie accounts.

13271  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: SELLING THIS HERO ACCOUNT on: January 29, 2015, 11:17:41 PM
anyone who is interested plz contact me directly.
we will use escrow
Should I take it that you are not able to accept my offer?

not waiting 2 weeks for the funds.
that is just a tactic to screw me over....with some false shit that u implement by scamming, etc.
Both the account and the funds can stay with escrow if you want, but I don't want to pay for an account only a little while later a scam accusation opens up against it.
13272  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: NewDeal2014 SCAMMER on: January 29, 2015, 10:57:23 PM
Can you post a text version of the amazon order number and the tracking number?

Did he get banned?
13275  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thanks for all- Good luck. on: January 29, 2015, 09:56:24 PM
A bit abrupt, but if you're going to really leave, I hope you don't try to milk the last BTC you can get by selling that account....
I agree. This was very abrupt.

His password has not changed so it doesn't look like it has been sold yet (although it could potentially be for sale)

Regardless good luck
13276  Other / Meta / Re: Unusually large amount of new users in the past week (bots) on: January 29, 2015, 09:53:28 PM
I can tell you that almost all of these bot accounts are posting, but we remove these topics almost instantly, so you don't notice it. Wink
However, I have no idea why there are so many joining lately nor do I know how it happened. It seems that someone wrote/has a good program to create all these accounts.
if you look at the profiles of some of the example accounts then you will see they have webpages associsted with them. They are probably trying to improve the SEO of their websites.

From what I can tell banning/nuking users does not delete information/links in their profile so they can continue to add crap to their profile (links, contact info ect)

I also try to answer questions ASAP to avoid the "free bump" issue.

Well, I would say you are entitled to it if the question is not being asked by you.
either way I like to answer quickly. Even ignoring the "free bump" issue it is bad customer service to make people wait.

I am curious, you spent some time and effort to communicate with him (you mentioned you carried the conversation to PM). Were you aware that this was a recently bought account?
the conversation quickly fizzled. However I looked at it and I don't think it was purchased. You can PM me if you want me to tell you why I think this.
13278  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: QUICKSELLER ABUSIVE TRUST SCAMMED BY SOMEONE WHO LEND BTC. on: January 29, 2015, 08:44:27 PM
No thats not true, I didnt ask you to scam anyone, but get my money back.

Not you'r only a troll but you lie.

I know this guy won't pay me back cuz he's account worth nothing.

You lie. If the admins can take a look at the pm's between you and me they can say so.

I didn't ask you to SCAM ANY ONE. PROVE IT.

I asked you to get my money back. NOT TO SCAM.

i posted the relevant PMs on my first post here. You did not deny them and (imo) admitted to their substance.
13279  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Selling bitcointalk.org accounts *updated 17 Jan, 2015 on: January 29, 2015, 08:39:25 PM
Why would/do people buy accounts?
Can't hey just make a new account for themselves?  Huh
They want to buy accounts so they can participate in signature deals (primarily). It takes several months to rank up to full member or member status, or senior member status and the signature deals tend to pay more for higher ranking accounts.

Additionally higher ranking accounts are able to post more frequently (if you create a new account then you need to wait 360 seconds between posts which is very annoying). Additionally there is some level of respect that people get when they have higher ranking accounts verses when they use a newbie account.
Never knew these accounts can be sold or bought ! Isn't it like illegal ?
People can scam using these accounts  Angry
It is not illegal nor is it against the rules to trade accounts.

People can scam with any level account, people can build up their own accounts to scam if they wanted to. The trading of accounts takes away the incentive to scam because doing so would remove the value from their account.

It was nice of you to answer patiently, but check through post history and trust and you will see that these were redundant questions only to increase paid post count. Unless its you who bought it and are trying to boost it to Hero and bump your thread at the same time.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was just trying to pad his post count (I effectively stopped the spam on my thread by moving the conversation to PM). I don't however like questions unanswered on my thread (except for extreme trolling in which case I really have no choice but to ignore them).

I also try to answer questions ASAP to avoid the "free bump" issue.

Hello, someone will help me out ?!! I prove that he has my coins, he's not red flagged, can someone help me out ?
you need to provide proof that you did in fact send more money they you agreed to.

I asked you kindly to leave me alone please.
If you are requesting that I no longer participate in this thread can you please either update the title to either say this is resolved or so that my name is no longer in the title

You'r name will be removed when you removed the negative the abusing feedback.
You can put it properly in neutral and waht really happened.

Like this : Shipitbuddy asked me to get he's money back by cheating a proven scammer that i refused to.
that is not what happened. You asked me to scam (as two others have pointed out). The negative trust is valid.

Additionally I have given you advice as to how to prove that you were scammed however you responded by telling me to no longer participate in the thread.
